Elizabeth Ann Jenkins
Oct. 9, 1923 -- Feb. 16, 2006
Elizabeth Ann Jenkins of Port Angeles died of complications from leukemia in Bremerton at age 82.
Mrs. Jenkins was born to Luis and Lelia (Wheeldon) Justus in Trenton, Mo.
She married
Dave Kenneth Jenkins in Des Moines, Iowa, on Feb. 23, 1941. He died on Oct. 19, 1998.
Mrs. Jenkins was retired after 20 years as a keypunch operator for Hughes Aircraft Co.
She lived in Hartford, Iowa, Manhattan Beach, Calif., Hillsboro, Ore., and Belton Mo., before moving to Port Angeles in 1992.
Mrs. Jenkins was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Port Angeles, Beta Sigma Phi, and the Gladys Billings Moonchildren's Hospital Guild.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Gary and Edith Jenkins of Carlisle, Iowa; daughters and sons-in-law Peggy and Larry Larson of Port Angeles, Nancy and Russell Sweazey of Phelan, Calif., and Judy and Dennis Richards of Bonney Lake; brother Jim Justus of Oak Harbor; sisters Virginia King of Minden, Nev., and Mary Rheimanschneider of Lake Annette, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers Luis, Bill, George and Robert Justus.
Services: Monday, Feb. 20, 2 p.m., memorial at First Presbyterian Church, 139 W. Eighth St., Port Angeles, with the Rev. Ted Mattie officiating. Burial will be at Hartford cemetery, Hartford, Iowa.

Resia Mae Koontz
July 11, 1927 -- Feb. 15, 2006
Resia Mae Koontz died of kidney failure at her Sequim home. She was 78.
She was born in Colson, Letcher County, Ky., to Dennis F. and Lola (Everidge) Blair.
She grew up at the Hindman Settlement School in Hindman, Ky., and lived in Ohio and California.
After completing business training, she became part of a secretarial pool and worked herself up to an executive secretary position serving the Air Force in a civilian capacity.
She married
Owen Lee Koontz at Port Mugu, Calif., on Aug. 16, 1960.
Mrs. Koontz and her family moved to Port Angeles in 1981, and to Sequim in 2000.
For many years she was very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Port Angeles. She later belonged to the Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church.
She also belonged to Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband of Sequim; daughters and sons-in-law Darlene K. and David P. Doak of San Jose, Calif., and Debra Lee Koontz O'Connell and Don M. O'Connell of Renton; brothers and sisters-in-law William H. and Hazel Blair of Lexington, Ky., and Hager and Ruth Blair of Englewood, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law Gertrude and Gerald Pasley of Somerset, Ky.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by brothers Hank Blair, Don Blair and Dan Blair.
Services: Wednesday, Feb. 22, noon, memorial at Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church, 923 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim. The Rev. Jack Anderson will officiate. A reception will follow at the church.
Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Dottie Bishop Sicklebower
Jan. 31, 1927 -- Feb. 15, 2006
Former Port Angeles resident Dottie Bishop Sicklebower died of complications from cancer in Buffalo, Mo., at age 79.
Mrs. Sicklebower was born to James and Maude (Bishop) Wallace in Tunas, Mo. She married
Leroy Maynock in 1944.
She moved from Port Angeles to Missouri in 1999.
Survivors include son Steve Maynock of Seattle; daughters Diann Maynock McNamara and Lorylee Maynock Serrato, both of Buffalo, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son Ron Maynock.
Services: Monday, Feb. 20, 2 p.m., funeral at Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home, 303 N. Maple St., Buffalo, Mo., with Robert Long officiating. Burial will be at Maple Lawn cemetery in Buffalo.
George `Bud' Woods
Feb. 9, 1938 --Feb. 8, 2006
Former Olympic Peninsula resident George ``Bud" Woods died of complications from leukemia treatment at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Ore., at age 67.
Mr. Woods was born to George and Lita (Zollig) Woods in Likely, Calif.
He had a long career as an engineering equipment operator, and worked at Olympic National Forest out of Port Angeles from 1978 to 1982.
While working in the Clearwater area, he became a reserve deputy for the sheriff's office and helped found the search and rescue unit.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Anne, of Lakeview, Ore; daughter and son-in-law Chris and John Pellissier of Klamath Falls, Ore.; son Joseph Woods of Klamath Falls, Ore.; son and daughter-in-law George and Kim Woods of Boise, Idaho; brothers and sisters-in-law William and Karin Woods of Charlotte, N.C., and Robert and Wanda Woods of Gridley, Calif.; and three grandsons.
Services: March 18, 1 p.m., memorial at Portola Station Baptist Church, 171 S. Gulling St., Portola, Calif. Private interment will be at Likely cemetery in Likely, Calif.

Jean M. McDermott
March 19, 1917 -- March 10, 2006
Port Angeles resident Jean M. McDermott died of congestive heart failure while attended by her daughters and one granddaughter. She was 88.
She was born in Julesburg, Colo., to John M. and Mable (McNish) Mellen.
Her survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Christina and Perry Richards and Heidi and Larry Fratus; daughter Pamela Rehwald; stepdaughter Teresa McDermott; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Clark, and grandson Jimi.
Services: None. Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.
Lisa R. Nossett
Dec. 30, 1977 -- March 12, 2006
Services will be held Saturday for Lisa R. Nossett, 28, formerly of Port Angeles.
Mrs. Nossett was found dead in base housing at Fort Lewis, where she lived with her children while her husband was on active duty in Korea.
Military police are investigating the death, The Associated Press reported. Police did not say how Mrs. Nossett died.
The daughter of Lloyd W. and Joella E. (Gebhart) Anderson was born in Port Angeles and moved to Pierce County in 1985.
She married
Christopher W. Nossett on Jan. 6, 1997, in Mesa, Ariz.
In addition to her husband, who has returned to Fort Lewis, and daughters Kourtney Nossett and Rebecca Nossett, survivors include father and stepmother Lloyd and Jill Anderson of Juneau, Alaska; mother and stepfather Joella and Howard Hicks of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and parents-in-law Russell and Patricia Erickson.
Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law Marc and Kalleena Anderson of Radnor, Ohio, and Mike and Amber Anderson of Wickenburg, Ariz.; brothers Josh Anderson of Juneau, Alaska, and Derek and Bryan Loftstrom, both of Seattle; and sisters Cassie and Carissa Anderson, both of Juneau, Alaska.
Services: Saturday, March 18, 11 a.m., graveside committal in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road. Dave Herson will officiate.
A reception immediately afterward will be held in the Eagles Hall Annex, 110 S. Penn St., Port Angeles.

LaDema Marie Stroeher
Aug. 15, 1918 -- March 15, 2006
LaDema Marie Stroeher died of chronic lung disease in Olympic Care and Rehabilitation Center in Sequim. She was 87.
She was born in Glendive, Mont., to Christian and Mary Agnes (Wieglanda) Siverts.
She married
Albert Edwin Stroeher in Anchorage, Alaska, on March 17, 1947.
Mrs. Stroeher, who moved to Sequim in 2004, enjoyed golfing, sewing and crafts.
She formerly lived in Seattle, Portland, Ore., and Bellevue.
Survivors include her husband of Sequim; son and daughter-in-law Charles and Joyce Stroeher of Port Angeles; and sister Mary Gregg of Butte, Mont.
Son Gary Lee Stroeher died in 1992.
Services: None. Her cremated ashes will be scattered by the Coast Guard. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

Eleanor Fletcher
April 18, 1914 -- March 2, 2006
Sequim resident Eleanor Fletcher died in the final stages of Alzheimer's disease in Port Angeles Care Center. She was 91.
She married
Ivan L. Fletcher in Wichita, Kan. He died in November 1987.
Mrs. Fletcher's, whose specialty was elementary education, was a librarian in the Wichita (Kan.) School District.
In addition to enjoying nature, she liked to sing.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Rhododendron Grange.
Mrs. Fletcher is survived by son George Terrell of Frederick, Md.; stepdaughter Nina Fletcher Cross of Seattle; sisters Abby Spotskey of Flagstaff, Ariz., Amy Stephenson of Seattle and Colleen Terrell of Atlanta; and three grandchildren.
Services: To be announced. Burial will be in Gardiner cemetery.

Violet Eleanor `Vi' Rose
Oct. 9, 1910 -- March 12, 2006
Nordland resident Violet Eleanor ``Vi" Rose died of heart failure in Port Townsend. She was 95.
She was born in San Francisco.
She married
Walt Rose in Pasco in 1982.
Mrs. Rose, who was an expert fly fisherwoman who tied her own flies, and bird hunter who trained her own Brittany spaniels to hunt, was also skilled at taxidermy.
She enjoyed the outdoors, whether camping, traveling or gardening.
She sold many original artworks created in charcoal, pencil, oil and watercolor. She was also an avid reader and historian.
Mrs. Rose is survived by her husband.
