Brian Lee Taylor
Feb. 11, 1947 -- April 22, 2006
Brian Lee Taylor died in Port Angeles at 59. Cause of death is pending.
He was born in Bremerton to Clarence Dean and Martina Antoinette (Reinert) Taylor.
After graduating from Seattle Preparatory School in 1965, he obtained an associate's degree in sales management from City College. He also attended Shoreline Community College and Seattle University with a major in marine biology.
Mr. Taylor served in the Navy from 1966 to 1970 aboard the USS Blandy and USS Mitscher, and saw duty in Vietnam.
He became a licensed optician in Washington State in 1977. In Port Angeles, he was affiliated with Special Eyes and Angeles Vision.
He married Elizabeth ``Beth" Thompson in Deer Park on Aug. 21, 1992.
Mr. Taylor's interests included reading, writing, photography, music and computers, wildlife conservation, environmental conservation, art appreciation and sketching.
He was president of St. Vincent de Paul, Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus, secretary of Nor'wester Rotary Club, precinct committee officer for Clallam County and a member of Queen of Angels parish.
Survivors include his wife; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law Kurt and Ann Kenney of Kirkland; daughters and sons-in-law Mara and Cory Brown of Federal Way, and Jenna and Brian Sweet of Bonney Lake; stepdaughter and step-son-in-law Karen and Hugh Moore of Spokane; sisters and brothers-in-law Paula and David Wright of North Bend and Karen and David Sauve of Renton; and five grandchildren.
Services: Today, April 25, 6:45 p.m., rosary in Queen of Angels, 209 W. 11th St., Port Angeles..
Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 26, 1 p.m., funeral Mass in Queen of Angels. A reception in the gym will follow. The Rev. Reynaldo Yu will celebrate.
Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

Shelia May Wahlgren
Feb. 17, 1932 -- April 18, 2006
Shelia May Wahlgren died of cancer in her Forks home. She was 74.
She was born to Julian Charles and Goldie May (Shepherd) McCabe Sr. in Port Angeles.
She married Lloyd H. Wahlgren in Port Angeles on Dec. 13, 1977.
Mrs. Wahlgren, who trained as a dental assistant and was licensed as a real estate broker, lived at Lake Crescent in addition to Port Angeles and Forks.
Her interests included outdoor activities such as mushroom hunting, razor clamming, fishing and hunting, as well as creative arts and crafts such as painting and knitting.
Mrs. Wahlgren was a member of Soroptimist, Red Hat Society and the auxiliaries of Elks and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by her husband; sons Duke Wahlgren of Forks and Richard Gross; sons and daughters-in-law Gary A. and Vicki Gross of Joyce, Charles W. and Terry Gross of Woodinville, and Danny and Dee Wahlgren of Forks; daughter and son-in-law Carla and Mike Menear of Oregon; brother and sister-in-law Julian C. and Maureen McCabe Jr. of Port Angeles; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son Greg Gross.
Services: May 21, 1 p.m., celebration of life (service and luncheon) in the Elks Lodge, 941 Merchant Road, Forks.
Olympic Cremation Association, Port Angeles, was in charge of cremation.
Memorials: Soroptimist International of Olympic Rain Forest, c/o 530 Bogachiel Way, Forks, WA 98331.

Robert F. Walkhoff
Aug. 12, 1952 -- April 20, 2006
Robert F. Walkhoff of Sequim died at age 53.

Mildred Elizabeth Wasankari
June 15, 1913 -- April 20, 2006
Mildred Elizabeth Wasankari of Port Angeles died in Crestwood Convalescent Center. She was 92.
Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

Lucille Virginia Butler
Oct. 17, 1919 -- Feb. 12, 2006
Port Angeles homemaker Lucille Virginia Butler died in Port Angeles Care Center of age-related causes. She was 86.
Born in Hampden, N.D., to Kenneth B. and Myrtle (Sackenreuter) Williams, she moved with her family to Bellingham at age 2.
She graduated from Bellingham High School
On Christmas Day -- Dec. 25, 1939 -- she married Virgil O. Butler, a schoolteacher and administrator.
Mrs. Butler and her husband lived in Rockford, Napavine and Quilcene before moving to Port Angeles in 1957.
She was a charter member of the Monday Musicale and the Olympic Dahlia Society. She was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Butler's survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Kay and Darold Seed of Port Angeles and Elaine and Mike Shields of Palmer, Alaska; brother Harold ``Bud" Williams of Vancouver, Wash.; two grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
Her husband died Oct. 27, 1997. She was also preceded in death by brothers Reginald Williams and Douglas Williams, and sister Lois.
Services: A graveside service will be held in Sargent, Neb. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of local arrangements.
Memorials: First Presbyterian Church, 139 W. Eighth St., Port Angeles, WA 98362; Meals on Wheels, 228 W. First St., Suite J, Port Angeles, WA 98362; or charity of choice.

Nina Pearl Chapman
Aug. 16, 1921 -- Feb. 13, 2006
Nina Pearl Chapman died in her Sequim home at age 84.
Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

Debra Kay Hall-Hayes
May 29, 1959 -- Feb. 12, 2006
Former Peninsula resident Debra Kay Hall-Hayes died of brain cancer in Mansfield, Ohio, at age 46.
She was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to Richard and Arlene Lenore (Reynolds) Hall.
She attended Bowling Green State University for four years.
In Port Angeles, she was a paraeducator at Jefferson Elementary School from 1991 to 2004.
Her 1985 marriage to Aaron Hayes in Seattle ended in divorce in Port Angeles in 2004.
Mrs. Hall-Hayes' survivors include son Kasey Hayes; daughter Megan Hayes; her parents; brother and sister-in-law Rick and Lora Hall; and sisters and brothers-in-law Sandra and Roy Daubenspeck and Brenda and Phillip Dilts.
Services: Thursday, Feb. 16, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., visitation at Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Funeral on Friday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m., at the same location. The Rev. Jonathan Fettig will officiate.
Burial will be in Morris Chapel cemetery, Morris Township, Ohio.

Elmer Eugene Lagel
Jan. 29, 1916 -- Feb. 14, 2006
Elmer Eugene Lagle died in his Port Angeles home of liver cancer. He was 90.
Mr. Lagel was born in Morning Sun, Iowa.

Lola I. Main
July 22, 1914 -- Feb. 13, 2006
Port Angeles homemaker Lola I. Main died of age-related causes. She was 91.
She was born to Walter and Salena (Henderson) Howell in Miami, Okla., where she graduated from high school in 1931.
She married Russell C. Main in Port Angeles in 1949. He died Nov. 23, 1983.
Mrs. Main's survivors include son Donald Lee Main of Seattle; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Paul Breitbach of Port Angeles; stepdaughter Beverly Koball of Red Bluff, Calif.; one grandson; and two stepgrandchildren.
Services: None. Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, was in charge of cremation.
Inurnment at Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles.
Memorials: Charity of choice.

Karl H. Ortlinghaus
May 15, 1927 -- Feb. 3, 2006
Sequim resident Karl H. Ortlinghaus died in Port Angeles of pneumonia. He was 78.
He was born in Soest, Germany, to Carl and Esther (Kahan) Ortlinghaus.
He married Ruth M. Zimmermann in Kassel, Germany, on Dec. 31, 1948.
Mr. Ortlinghaus, who apprenticed as a tool and die maker for four years, worked as tool and die maker and precision inspector in Germany, California, Missouri, Florida and Washington.
His other interests included travel, photography and computers.
Survivors include his wife; son and daughter-in-law Ralph and Lori Ortlinghaus of Enumclaw; daughter and son-in-law Linda and Jack Harvey of Sequim; brother and sister-in-law Hans-Joach and Rosemarie Ortlinghaus of Cologne, Germany; and four grandchildren.
Services: None. Olympic Cremation Association was in charge of burial in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, Monroe Road and U.S. Highway 101, Port Angeles.

Robert H. Edens Jr.
July 6, 1945 -- Feb. 14, 2006
Robert H. Edens Jr. of Sequim died of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He was 60.
He was born in Joplin, Mo., to Robert Henry and Peggy Lou (Groom) Edens Sr.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Humboldt State University, Arcata, Calif., and his master's degree from Utah State University.
He married Pamela Rae South in Bell, Calif., on July 9, 1966.
For 27 years, Mr. Edens served with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service and National Park Service in California, Utah, South Dakota, New Mexico and Washington.
His enjoyment of outdoor activities included birdwatching and backpacking as well as fishing and hunting.
Mr. Edens was a member of Sequim Bible Church.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Leslie Copeland, both of Sequim, survivors include daughters Tracy Mancuso of Medford, Ore., and Christy Russell of California; brothers Richard Edens of Breckenridge, Colo., Marvin Edens of Sacramento, Calif., Mark Edens of Fullerton, Calif., and Kevin Edens of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and one grandchild.
Services: Sunday, Feb. 19, 2 p.m., memorial in Sequim Bible Church, 847 N. Sequim Ave.
