Agnes P. Petersen
June 15, 1917 -- May 22, 2006
Former Port Angeles resident Agnes P. Petersen died of a myocardial infarction in Port Orchard. She was 88.
Born in Peoria, Ill., to Anthony L. and Antonia Emelia (Pelikan) Hurbis, she moved to Port Angeles in 1923.
She walked 2½ miles, each way, to Round Mountain Schoolhouse on what is now Deer Park Road.
She married
Raymond H. Petersen on Dec. 24, 1934.
Mrs. Petersen worked on the family farm for many years. In addition to caring for her dog, Penny, and her home -- where she knit many pairs of slippers as personal gifts -- she liked to dance.
She was a member of Fairview Grange, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles and Elks.
Mrs. Petersen moved to the Kitsap Peninsula in 2001.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Phyllis D. and Fritz Potter, daughter-in-law Margo G. Petersen; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Loretta Miles of Port Angeles; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Her husband died Jan 6, 1992, and son Darrell E. Petersen died Dec. 18, 2003. She was also preceded in death by twin sister Pauline Grinnell, sisters May Miles and Marie Miles Mead, and brother Harry Miles.
Services: Celebration of life private. Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

ALYDANE `PAT' McDONAGH
Alydane ``Pat" McDonagh left her new home in Mill Creek May 24th to be welcomed into the arms of Jesus.
Born to Alfred M. (Jr.) and Tiloura R. Clark in Seattle July 17, 1923. She lived most of her life in Bothell and Edmonds, moving to Port Angeles in 1984.
preceded in death by her son, Ronnie, and grandson, Andy, who no doubt have presented her with a new pair of dancing shoes.
Survived by her brother, Alfred M. Clark III, Edmonds; and children Tiloura (Phil) Lund, Edmonds; Patty (Bruce) Norris, Ivy, Virginia; Julie (John) Waxham, Mill Creek; Tim (Karen) McCormick, Marysville; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many loving friends gathered over the years like flowers in her garden.
Her indomitable spirit left a lasting legacy to all who shared her life here on earth.
No services at her request.

JACK O. FISHER
Jack O. Fisher died May 11, 2006, in Port Angeles.
Jack was born in Lamar, Oklahoma, on December 23, 1929.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from October 1946 to November 1952, receiving the Korean Service Medal. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1961 to 1963 with one deployment in the Atlantic.
A resident of Sequim for the past 17 years, he is survived by his wife, Anna; three sons, Ken, Andrew and David, all residing in California; one daughter, Yoneko Yanagida of Tokyo, Japan; and one stepson, Jimmy Kuhl, also residing in California.
Aina Charles
April 4, 1928 -- May 23, 2006
Aina Charles of Auburn and Port Angeles died in Port Angeles at age 78.
Services: Friday, May 26, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., visitation in Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, 260 Monroe Road, Port Angeles.
Then on Tuesday, May 30, at 11 a.m., funeral in Lower Elwha Tribal Center, 2851 Lower Elwha Road, Port Angeles.
James Malcolm Hitch
June 8, 1925 -- May 19, 2006
Dr. James Malcolm Hitch of Sequim died of age-related causes. He was 80.
He was born in Lewistown, Mont., to Dorris Nelson and Rhoda Gilmore (Adriance) Hitch.
Dr. Hitch served as a naval aviator from November 1943 to June 1949 and from November 1952 to November 1953.
He married
Marian Joan Jackson on Aug. 11, 1946, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
As a doctor of veterinary medicine, he had a general practice at Malta, Mont., for more than 22 years. He also worked in federal veterinary meat inspection in Glasgow, Mont., and Idaho Falls, Idaho, for 10 years.
Dr. Hitch was a member of the Association of Naval Aviators, American Veterinary Association, Montana Veterinary Medical Association and American Contract Bridge League.
In addition to his wife, survivors include sons Michael Hitch of Bozeman, Mont., David Hitch of Boulder, Colo., and Dixon Hitch of Malta, Mont.; and son and daughter-in-law Mark and Maggie Hitch of Port Ludlow.
Other survivors are daughters and sons-in-law A.C. Hitch-Schutt and John Schutt of Ferndale, and Adrienne and Robbin Wagner of Lewistown, Mont.; sister Barbara Anderson of Cooper Landing, Ala.; and four grandchildren.
Dr. Hitch was preceded in death by brothers Quinlan Hitch and Charles Hitch, and sister Margaret Haight.

DORIS MAY McCALLISTER
Doris May McCallister was born to Irish immigrant parents, Hugh and Sarah McCallister in Tacoma, Washington, on May 23, 1919.
She followed a brother, Hugh, and sister, Sally.
Doris graduated Roosevelt High School with the class of 1937.
She worked at Aggie's Dog House, where she met Vern ``Bush" Hart. They were married
March 2, 1940.
The two of them, with friends and relatives, hiked, fished, hunted and camped at Mowbray's Cabin in the Upper Dungeness. They also enjoyed good times at the Olympic Hot Springs.
Bill and Diane were born when they lived at the Fairmount, just west of Port Angeles.
Later, the family moved to Sekiu and Pysht, where Bush worked for Foss Tug.
In 1950, her husband started a logging business. They moved from Pysht to the family homestead on Freshwater Bay Road. They built a new home there in 1956.
Debbie was born during this time.
Doris joined Bush to commercial fish in Alaska's icy straits for two seasons. They also sold corn from the garden for many years.
Doris was active in selling Crescent water shares, at its inception.
Doris loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She really loved receiving flowers and anything Irish. She was a great cook and made all the family birthday and holiday dinners.
Doris enjoyed her Bible study group at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
She passed on May 22, 2006, one day before her May 23 birthday.
She believed in eternal life and has gone to be with her family, especially Bush and Bill.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on May 25, 2006, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Ruth E. Hodis
June 11, 1921 -- May 12, 2006
Ruth E. Hodis died in her Sequim home of breast cancer. She was 84.
She was born in Grangeville, Idaho, to Joseph Charles and Hazel Esther (Sink) Aschenbrenner.
She married
Vincent H. Hodis in Spokane on Oct. 31, 1942.
An alumna of Deaconess Hospital Nursing School in Spokane and a former Red Cross nurse, Mrs. Hodis was a registered nurse in charge of Montana State University Health Center, Bozeman, Mont., as well as assistant director of nursing at Olympic Medical Center, Port Angeles.
She was a charter member and past president of Lady Elks; founder and Queen Mother of Wanda Fuchsia Red Hats in Sequim; past president and past master of Rhododendron Grange, and past musician of Sequim Prairie Grange. Mrs. Hodis was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Women of St. Joseph's.
Her interests also included sewing clothes and reading.
Survivors include daughter Minerva R. Hodis of Sequim; brother Leon Preston of Lebanon, Ore.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband died March 3, 1990. She was also preceded in death by brother Thomas Aschenbrenner.
Services: Friday, May 26, 10:30 a.m., a funeral liturgy outside of Mass will be held in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim. The Rev. Thomas Beattie will preside. A reception will follow.
Private burial will be later.

Forrest E. Seadschlag
July 2, 1913 -- May 17, 2006
Forrest E. Seadschlag of Sequim died of age-related causes in Olympic Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was 92.
He was born in Bridgeport, Neb., to Charles Henry and Addie Pearl (Schlimm) Seadschlag.
He moved to Idaho in 1937.
Mr. Seadschlag married
Dorothy Busacker in Camas on June 5, 1942.
When the Seadschlags settled in Sequim, he built their home at Mains Farm.
An accomplished carpenter and cabinetmaker, he worked on many homes and other buildings in the area.
Mr. Seadschlag, who liked to work his crab pots and fish, also enjoyed rock hunting, polishing rare specimens.
Survivors include brother and sister-in-law Edward and Flora Seadschlag of California and sister-in-law Bernadine Seadschlag of Omaha, Neb.
His wife died in 1993.
Services: None. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park, Portland, Ore.
Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
CAROLE ANN BRUMMETT
Carole Ann Brummett, a longtime resident of the North Olympic Peninsula, returned to the Lord on April 1, 2006.
A daughter, Billie Jean Swengel, and granddaughters Megan and Kaitlyn Swengel of Lynnwood, Washington, survive her.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on May 27, 2006, at the Pleasant Mountain Grange, 2432 Mount Pleasant Road, Port Angeles.
Family and friends are invited to attend.
