Felician A. `Bud' Vadon
Sept. 4, 1934 -- June 2, 2006
Felician A. ``Bud" Vadon of Port Angeles died of age-related causes. He was 71.
He was born in St. Helena, Calif., to Victor E. and Madeline M. (Murphy) Vadon.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Vadon worked in construction for 15 years at Eastern Washington University, Cheney.
He also lived in Alaska before coming to the North Olympic Peninsula.
He was a member of Sequim Community Church, Masonic Lodge, Shrine and El Kalif.
Mr. Vadon married
Roberta Diane Umberger on Aug. 24, 1986.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, two daughters and five grandchildren.
Services: July 8, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., celebration of life and reception in Monterra Clubhouse, Sequim. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home is in charge.

Dee L. Yager
June 27, 1935 -- June 6, 2006
Dee L. Yager of Port Angeles died of complications from lung disease. He was 70.
He was born in Walla Walla to Frank and Nettie (Weaver) Yager.
Mr. Yager served 23 years in the Marine Corps, including service during the Korean and Vietnam wars as a helicopter crew chief.
He married
Louann Stringham in Poulsbo on June 7, 1958.
With another couple, the Yagers co-owned and operated Al's RV Park in Port Angeles from 1986 to 1994.
Mr. Yager enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He was also an avid reader.
In addition to membership in the Marine Corps League, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Elks Naval Lodge, he belonged to several Masonic orders and was a past deputy of District II and a past patron of the Order of Eastern Star.
Mr. Yager's survivors include his wife; daughters Pam Christenson and Connie Wilson, both of Orange County, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Services: Saturday, June 10, 2 p.m., memorial in Port Angeles Masonic Temple, 622 S. Lincoln St., Port Angeles.

HISAE VACHON
Hisae Vachon, devoted wife, mother and friend, age 72, of Yakima, passed away at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital on May 31, 2006.
She was born on January 26, 1934, to Masaki and Matsuyo (Mikasaka) Ishii in Iizuka-Shi, Fukuoka, Japan.
She married
Richard H. Vachon on December 26, 1956, in Tokyo, Japan, and arrived in the United States on March 17, 1957.
She and Richard lived in Yakima surrounded by the extended Vachon family for the next 13 years until they moved to Port Angeles.
She became a naturalized citizen on November 16, 1962, and was baptized at Holy Redeemer Church on March 28, 1964.
Following the death of Richard in 1972, she and her four children returned to Yakima.
Hisae worked as the banquet manager at the Holiday Inn for 24 years and earned a loyal following of friends, both employees and customers, through hard work, honesty and customer service.
Hisae had many lifelong friends who appreciated her candor, loyalty and humor.
She had a gift for hospitality and enjoyed entertaining and preparing Japanese food for family and friends, watching the Mariners play ball and was an excellent travel companion.
Later in life she enjoyed her grandchildren, whom she regarded as precious gifts, and never missed an opportunity to spoil them.
She is survived by her four children, Elizabeth Vachon of Woodinville; Christine (Rob) Landerholm of Edmonds; Michael (Gretchen) Vachon of Tieton; and Thomas Vachon of Edmonds; and eight grandchildren, Daniel, Noelani, Sarah, Kiana, Rebeccah, Hannah, Mikala and Nikolai.
She is also survived by two brothers and three sisters in Japan, and by numerous nieces and nephews in both Japan and the United States.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, both parents, a sister and a brother.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Family Church in Yakima on June 23 at 10 a.m. with inurnment to follow at Calvary cemetery.
Clara Burton Clayton
Jan. 22, 1909 -- June 3, 2006
Clara Burton Clayton of Sequim died of age-related causes. She was 97.
She was born in Elida, N.M., to William Zachary and Nancy Elizabeth (Cargill) Burton.
She married
Teen James Clayton on Dec. 18, 1926, in Roswell, N.M.
Mrs. Clayton was a homemaker most of her life. Spent her early years in New Mexico before moving to Sequim in 1943.
The Claytons owned and operated a dairy farm in Sequim.
Mrs. Clayton hand pieced and made more than 300 quilts.
She was an honorary pioneer in the 1998 Sequim Irrigation Festival Grand Parade, and a master gardener.
Mrs. Clayton belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church of Sequim, the Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodge, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a charter member of the Sequim Prairie Garden Club and a 50-year member of the Sequim Prairie Grange, receiving the Golden Sheaf in 1996.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Leonard and Charlene Clayton of Federal Way; son Harvey Clayton of Vancouver, Wash.; daughters and sons-in-law Dorothy and Norman Silva of Phoenix and Elizabeth and Walter Walker of Terrebonne, Ore., and daughter Mary Ann Clayton of Sequim; daughters-in-law Jo Ann Martin and Donna Clayton; and 28 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sons Teen Clayton and James Clayton.
Services: Saturday, June 10, 11:30 a.m., graveside service at Sequim View cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. and a reception in Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake St., Sequim. The Rev. Gisela Tabor will officiate.
Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Sarah Leona Donalson
Jan. 29, 1922 -- June 2, 2006
Sarah Leona Donalson of Port Townsend died of end-stage dementia at Kah Tai Care Center. She was 84.
She was born in Laurens County, S.C., to Walter Lee and Laura Alberta (Morrison) O'Dell.
She served in the Coast Guard from June 13, 1943, to Sept. 18, 1945, as a specialist telephone operator in the Women's Reserve.
She married
Douglas Sherman Donalson in Seattle on Dec. 27, 1945.
Survivors include son David Eugene Donalson of Seattle; daughter Donna Marie Corey of Port Townsend; brothers and sisters-in-law Jackson and Carolyn O'Dell of Anderson, S.C., and Paul and Elaine O'Dell of Hodges S.C.; brothers Lewis O'Dell and Newton O'Dell, both of Greenwood, S.C.; sister Ruth Breitenbach of Elkmont, Ala.; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 16, 2004, son Richard Douglas Donalson on Sept. 6, 1985, and brothers Walter O'Dell and Thomas O'Dell.
Services: Saturday, June 10, 2 p.m., memorial in Kosec Funeral Home, 1615 Parkside Drive, Port Townsend. The Rev. Nora Young will officiate.
Joan M. Moore
Aug. 16, 1921 -- June 1, 2006
Joan M. Moore of Sequim died of age-related causes. She was 84.
She was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Russel and Lelia (Overmeyer) Quackenbush

Robert A. Hasenpflug
May 28, 1928 -- May 31, 2006
Robert A. Hasenpflug of Sequim died of leukemia in Seattle. He was 78.
He was born in Creighton, Neb., to Otto and Goldie (Walton) Hasenpflug.
He served in the Army, then was a heavy-duty auto mechanic for the city of Inglewood, Calif.
He lived in Inglewood and Torrance, Calif., before retiring to Sequim.
Mr. Hasenpflug married
Betty Jean Hickerson in Westchester, Calif., on Oct. 7, 1949.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, Mr. Hasenpflug is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Tom and Sandra Hasenpflug of Mission Viejo, Calif., and David and Susan Hasenpflug of Sequim; sister Janice Kurez of Omaha, Neb.; and four grandchildren.
Services: Thursday, June 8, 11 a.m., memorial in Sequim Valley Chapel, 108 W. Alder St. Inurnment will be in Sequim View cemetery.

Mary Louise Howard
Dec. 12, 1916 -- May 19, 2006
Mary Louise Howard of Port Angeles died of age-related causes in St. Andrews Assisted Living Center. She was 89.
She was born in Corning, Ohio, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Sterminski) Toth.
She married
Ralph Howard Sr. in Durham, N.C., in September 1935. He died in May 1994.
Mrs. Howard moved from Scottsdale, Ariz., to Port Angeles in 2003.
She was a member of Queen of Angels Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Ralph and Dee Howard of Port Angeles; daughter Sheila Howard of Phoenix; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one grandson and one great-grandson.
Services: June 28, 11 a.m., memorial Mass in Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 209 W. 11th St., Port Angeles. The Rev. Kurt Nagel will celebrate.
