Lois Irene Sterling of Sequim died of age-related causes. She was 86.
She was born in St. Paul, Minn.
She married
Paul Sterling in Inglewood, Calif., on Aug. 25, 1951.
Mrs. Sterling was a bookkeeper and real estate agent in Southern California.
In Sequim, she was a member of Lady Elks and the Peninsula Doll Club.
In addition to her husband, survivors include sons Doug and Milo Walz and Greg Sterling; daughters Karen Clatanoff and Patricia Cochran; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services: None. The Neptune Society, Lynnwood was in charge of arrangements.
Jesse Sayre Thanem
Aug. 21, 1985 -- July 24, 2006
Jesse Sayre Thanem of Port Angeles drowned in the Devil's Punchbowl area of Lake Crescent. He was 20.
An account of the drowning and Mr. Thanem's biography were reported Wednesday and Thursday on Page A1 of the Peninsula Daily News' Clallam County edition.
Services: Monday, July 31, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., visitation in Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, 105 W. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Memorial service and reception Tuesday, Aug. 1, 11 a.m., at Harper-Ridgeview, then a 1:45 p.m. graveside service in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road.

DELORES LORRAYNE FELLOWS
Delores Lorrayne Fellows, 88, of Olympia, Washington, died July 7, 2006, at Providence Mother Joseph's Care Center.
She was born on July 18, 1917, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Russell and Marie (Peterson) Forman.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Demarie and Patrick Wood of Port Angeles; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Kathy Fellows of Salt Lake City, Utah; son, Dixon Fellows of Olympia, Washington; and son and daughter-in-law, LTC Scott and Sheila Fellows of Stafford, Virginia; along with eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, LTC Dean C. Fellows; son, Craig Fellows; brother, Ralph Forman; and two grandsons, Glen Elliott Fellows and Alec Michael Fellows.
Delores enjoyed golfing, traveling, a playful game of bridge and volunteer work.
Delores stayed active in the First United Methodist Church of Olympia, Washington, and throughout the community.
She enjoyed supporting the Children's Orthopedic Guild, the Salvation Army and other fine nonprofit organizations.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on her birthday, July 18, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1224 Legion Way S.E., Olympia, Washington.
Please make any memorial donations to the Salvation Army of Olympia, Washington. A private inurnment will take place at the Mills and Mills Memorial Park in Tumwater, Washington.
Emma Faye Casey-Short

Newborn Emma Faye Casey-Short died at birth in Harrison Memorial Hospital, Silverdale.
She was the daughter of William Earl ``Bill" Short and Monica Faye Casey of Port Hadlock.
In addition to her parents, Emma's survivors include brother Dean Short and sister Eva Casey-Short, both of Port Hadlock, and sister Kaylee Short of Quilcene.
Also surviving are grandparents Joe and Judy Munn of Quilcene; Roger and Sandy Short of Chimacum, and Cheri Short of Hodgenville, Ken.
Services: Saturday, June 17, 1 p.m., memorial in Kosec Funeral Home, 1615 Parkside Drive, Port Townsend. Pastor Dave Hodgen of Irondale Evangelical Free Church will officiate.
A potluck reception in the art building of Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 4907 Landes St., Port Townsend, will follow the service.

Lydia `Jane' Emmenegger

Lydia ``Jane" Emmenegger of Port Angeles died in Golden Years Care Home, Port Angeles, of age-related causes. She was 87.
She was born in Centralia to Adin and Ruth (Wintler) Burdick.
She received her bachelor's degree from Central Washington in 1941.
She earned her master's degree in library science in 1968 from the University of Hawaii.
She married
Oscar John ``Swiss" Emmenegger on Mercer Island in 1953. He died in 1977.
The Emmeneggers -- who moved to Chimacum after their marriage, then settled in Port Angeles -- traveled widely during their summers, attending schools in Slippery Rock, Pa., Mexico, and Hawaii.
They had a strong interest in Peninsula College from its inception and helped establish the Peninsula College Foundation.
Mrs. Emmenegger was also instrumental in setting up the Peninsula College library, and created a scholarship fund in honor of her husband to help Peninsula College students in need.
After her husband's death, Mrs. Emmenegger continued global travel with friends, visiting Europe, Russia, New Zealand and Australia. Through InterHostel, she also attended schools in these places.
She was a member of Beta Phi Mu International Library Science Honor Society and Delta Kappa Gamma Society, as well as involvement including United Way, Children's Orthopedic Guild, Virginia Mason Society, Clallam County Fair Board planning, Park View Villas board, Port Angeles Garden Club and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Emmenegger is survived by her niece, Ruth Cook, of Langley.
She was preceded in death by sister Albertina.
Services: None. Inurnment with her late husband in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles, will be under the direction of Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles.

Gordon Byron Giles

Gordon Byron Giles died of cancer in his Kala Point home. He was 77.
He was born in Charleston, Ill., to Herman Harry and Edna (Taylor) Giles.
Services: Wednesday, June 14, at 1 p.m., memorial in Kala Point Clubhouse, 20 Village Drive, Port Townsend. The Rev. Nora Young will officiate.

Ronald Allen Haxby
Nov. 7, 1934 -- June 4, 2006
Ronald Allen Haxby died in Kah Tai Care Center, Port Townsend, following a heart attack. He was 71.
He was born in Clarinda, Iowa, to Robert James and Bessie (Battles) Haxby.
Mr. Haxby was an inventor and boat builder who was often seen in Port Townsend sitting in his station wagon selling the kayaks he had built.
Services: None. Inurnment will be in the family plot in Clarinda, Iowa.

Hugh L. Odell
Jan. 13, 1916 -- June 8, 2006
Sequim resident Hugh L. Odell died of cancer in Sequim. He was 90.
He was born in Gilliam, Mo., to Jesse F. and Beulah (Gilliam) Odell.
Mr. Odell served in the Navy.
He married
Marguerite Rohls on Feb. 1942, in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
Mr. Odell worked with high-speed photography for Sandia Corp.
He lived in New Mexico and California before moving to Sequim.
His interests included astronomy, world travel and the sciences.
Mr. Odell's survivors include his wife of Sequim; sons Stephen P. Odell of Sequim and Randall S. Odell of Carmel, Calif.; and daughter Darlene Odell of Port Angeles.
Services: No public services. Private interment at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Donald Clair Van Dyke
Oct. 10, 1923 -- June 6, 2006
Donald Clair Van Dyke of Chimacum Valley died in Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, of injuries received in a fall from a horse. He was 82.
Born in Boulder, Colo., to James Richard and Ruth (Barr) Van Dyke, Mr. Van Dyke was a nuclear medical research physicist who had moved to Jefferson County from France two weeks before this accident.

Margery S. Crook
Aug. 3, 1931 -- June 8, 2006
Margery S. Crook of Port Angeles died of cancer in Olympic Medical Center. She was 74.
She was born in Bisbee, Ariz., to Frank and Ester (Buckett) Brunel.
She married
Robert G. Crook on Aug. 21, 1954, in Tacoma.
Mrs. Crook was a registered surgical nurse, lived in Spokane, Medford, Ore., Great Falls, Mont., Honolulu, and Eugene, Ore., before she came to the Olympic Peninsula in 1992.
She was an avid golfer who played in numerous senior women's tournaments throughout the country and scored 10 holes-in-one.
Mrs. Crook belonged to the Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include son and daughter-in-law Donald Crook and Kathy Miles; daughter Diane Crook; brother and sister-in-law Frank and Audrey Brunel; brother John Brunel; and sister and brother-in-law Joan and Joe Frad.
Services: Tuesday, June 13, 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., visitation in Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel, 108 W. Alder St.
Memorial service at 11:30 a.m., at which the Rev. Dr. Scott Koenigsaecker will officiate. Private burial will be in Sequim View cemetery.
