Former Sequim resident James Randy ``Jim" Priest Jr. of Ellensburg died in Yakima of a massive stroke. He was 57.
Born in Port Angeles to James and Patricia (Grennan) Priest, his heritage is of the pioneer Priest family of Sequim and the Jamestown S'Klallam tribe.
He graduated from Sequim High School.
He was one of the founding partners of Primo Construction in the early 1980s. He was also a member of Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce in 1988-92.
From 1987 to 1995, he was a member of the Sequim Irrigation Festival board, serving as chairman of the festival in 1990-91 and co-chair in 1992.
He was chairman of the Jeff Catarina Foundation, and was a member of the Sequim Little League board for eight years, including a period as vice president.
He moved to Wenatchee in 1996.
He married
Pamela Kettel in Sequim in 1978; they divorced in 1998.
Mr. Priest married
Alexis Kienow in Wenatchee in 2000.
In addition to his wife, survivors include son Zachary Priest of Sequim; stepson Chris Tweedy of Boise, Idaho; daughters Michelle Schlitts of Silverdale and Cara Priest of Sequim; his father; brothers Rusty Priest of San Diego and David Priest of Lacey; and five grandchildren.
His mother died in 1994. He was also preceded in death by sister Deborah Priest Biggers.
Services: Saturday, Oct. 7, 1 p.m., memorial in Faith Lutheran Church, Fourth and Cedar streets, Sequim.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. at the Dungeness Golf Course inn, 1965 Woodcock Road, Sequim.
Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home, Yakima, is in charge of cremation.
Eddie Lindsey
Dec. 7, 1929 -- Sept. 10, 2006
Retired Assistant Fire Chief Eddie Lindsey died at his Port Townsend home of a stroke. He was 76.
Mr. Lindsey was born to Alroy and Gertrude (Steffan) Lindsey in Biloxi, Miss.
He married
Mary Ann Woods in Biloxi, Miss. on Nov. 9, 1953.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Lindsey enjoyed hunting and fishing, and water skiing when he was younger.
In addition to his service as assistant fire chief, he was past master of the Port Townsend Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife; son David Lindsey of Port Townsend; daughter Cecelia Becker of New Orleans; brothers Carl Lindsey of Port Townsend and Armund Lindsey of New Orleans; brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Judy Lindsey of Port Townsend; and sister Sharon Rhoades of Sequim.
Services: Saturday, Oct. 7, 1 p.m., celebration of life at the Port Townsend Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St., Port Townsend. Kosec Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lola Jean Merchant
Jan. 26, 1938 -- Sept. 26, 2006
Lola Jean Merchant died at her Port Angeles home. Cause of death is pending. She was 68.
Services: Saturday, Oct. 7, 11 a.m., memorial service at the Chimacum Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10104 Rhody Drive. Inurnment will be at Greenwood cemetery in Chimacum.

June Dolores Skoien
June 14, 1924 -- Sept. 25, 2006
June Dolores Skoien of Port Townsend died at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. She was 82.
Services: Saturday, Oct. 7, 2 p.m., memorial service at Grace Lutheran Church, 1120 Walker St., Port Townsend with the Rev. Howard Fosser officiating.

Steven `Frank' Warren
Aug. 3, 1944 -- Sept. 28, 2006
Steven ``Frank" Warren died at his Port Angeles home from complications of leukemia. He was 62.
Mr. Warren was born to Elton A. and Evelyn H. (Trusdell) Warren in Port Angeles.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1966.
He married
Marilyn Swanson at the Queen of Angels Roman Catholic Church in Port Angeles on June 8, 1963.
Following his military service, he and his wife moved back to Port Angeles where he worked for the Port Angeles Water Department of 30 years, retiring in 1997.
He then worked for the Dry Creek Water Association until his death.
He enjoyed collecting guns, working on cars and metal fabrication.
He was a member of the Queen of Angels church and Eagles Club, and was a founding member of the Angeles Stock Car Racing Association.
Survivors include his wife; son Michael Warren of Port Angeles; daughter Nadine Partridge of Forks; brothers Gaylord Warren and Chuck Warren, both of Port Angeles and Paul Warren of Utah; sisters Cynthia Loftus of Florida and Linda Ubelacker of Puyallup; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by sister Elaine Ellsworth.
Services: Monday, Oct. 2, 9:30 a.m., memorial service at Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, 260 Monroe Road, Port Angeles, with the Revs. Clarence Ellsworth and Kurt Nagel officiating. Flag presentation will be made by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1024.

REID STEWART AUSTIN
March 11, 1931-September 14, 2006
Born in Norwich, Connecticut, Mr. Austin began his career in New York City in 1949, where he became a passionate lover of theater, particularly musicals.
In 1952, he joined Michael Turro in a relationship that lasted 34 years. In 1960, he became an Associate Art Director at Playboy magazine, where he became artist Alberto Vargas' art director and friend, later writing the authorized biography, published in 1978 with and introduced by Hugh Hefner.
His book, Vargas: Esquire Years, was published in 1987, followed by the authorized biography of artist George Petty in 1997.
In 2000, he moved to Port Townsend for one of the most agreeable periods of his life.
His third Vargas book was published in September of this year by Bulfinch Press.
In lieu of service, Mr. Austin requested donations to Key City Players, Port Townsend; or Olympic Pet Pals.
LEONA MARIE `LEE' HALLMAN
Lee Hallman died August 24, 2006, in Port Angeles at age 72.
She was born May 5, 1934, in Shelton to Leo (Pete) and Esther (Johnson) Hallman.
Lee graduated from Forks High School in 1952.
She moved to Port Angeles and worked at Aggie's Dog House in 1952-58 as a chef, and at Harrington's in 1958-60.
She bought Fairmount Restaurant in 1961 from Elmer and Pearl Loghry and operated ``Lee's Fairmount" over 40 years, before retiring in 2002.
Lee married
Malcolm Harper on Valentine's Day 1970. They divorced.
Ms. Hallman is survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Lois and James Woods of Sequim and Leila and Gary Smith of Port Angeles; 10 nieces and nephews; and friend, Beverly Lindell.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Leo and Leon.
A private funeral was held September 1 at Ocean View cemetery.

ROLF MICHAEL THARALDSEN -- In Loving Memory
July 4, 1931-September 24, 2006
Rolf died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning after a lengthy illness.
He was born to Trygve and Elida Tharaldsen in Liverpool, England, in the Norwegian Seaman's Church.
His family moved back to Norway at the start of World War II. After the war, Rolf served in the Norwegian Occupation Forces in Germany.
After sailing in the Norwegian merchant marine for many years, he came to America in 1956 where he worked in Philadelphia.
He then ventured west to California, where he worked as a boat builder.
It was there he met the love of his life, Karen J. Pedersen. They were married
Sept. 26, 1964, in the Norwegian Seamen's Church in San Pedro, California.
Rolf became a U.S. citizen in 1966 in Los Angeles.
After traveling around the world for two years, staying in Australia and Norway, the couple settled in Port Angeles in 1969, where their son, Eric Tharaldsen, was born.
Rolf then started his own furniture refinishing business.
He later became a longshoreman and worked for 19 years before retiring due to a work-related accident.
He was an active member of Sons of Norway and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for many years.
He will be missed by many who loved his jolly sense of humor, his hugs and smiles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Thorvald Tharaldsen, and sister Eleonor Oijordsbakken.
He is survived by his wife and son in Port Angeles; his sister Ruth Birkeland; brother, John Tharaldsen; and many nieces and nephews in Norway.
We love you, Rolf, and will miss you greatly.
Memorial services October 4 at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local Habitat for Humanity organization at 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim, WA 98382, or Sons of Norway Olympic Lodge No. 37 at 131 W. Fifth St., Port Angeles, WA 98362.
Suzanne Veronica Cummings
July 15, 1937 -- Sept. 26, 2006
Suzanne Veronica Cummings died in Port Angeles. She was 69.
Services: Thursday, Oct. 5, 1 p.m., funeral in Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, 105 Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Graveside committal will follow in Ocean View cemetery, 3127 W. 18th St., Port Angeles.
