DUANE WILLIAM MOORE
Born in Port Angeles, Washington, on February 27, 1937, passed way on September 9, 2006.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Moore, and mother, Mary Moore.
He is survived by sisters Glena Getsinger of Portland, Oregon, Marylou Moore of Sumner, Washington, and Carol Carter of Puyallup, Washington.
Loving father of three to son Joe Moore of Black Diamond, Washington, and daughters Teresa Kenoyar of Cashmere, Washington, and Robin Moore of Shelton, Washington.
Duane was a kind, caring, hard-working, strong-willed, highly intelligent man who would offer help to anybody in need.
He embraced life in the Pacific Northwest; fishing, crabbing and boating were his passion.
He was proud active member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Union Local 32 for 36 years.
A celebration of Duane's life will be held on Friday, September 29, at 2 p.m. at the Ocean View cemetery Chapel. (Arrangements made by Robin Moore).

Duane was loved dearly and will be missed.
Julia Hannah Olson
Nov. 23, 1907 -- Sept. 16, 2006
Former Port Angeles resident Julia Hannah Olson of Vancouver, Wash., died in Salmon Creek Legacy Hospital, Vancouver, of pneumonia. She was 98.
She was born in Seattle to Thomas Elmer and Hannah (Hodgson) Williams.
At an early age, she moved to Port Angeles where she graduated from high school.
She married
John George Olson in Port Angeles on Sept. 23, 1926.
Mrs. Olson worked at Port Angeles Sand & Gravel as well as for the city of Port Angeles. She owned and operated grocery stores in Gales Addition and on Eighth Street.
She also managed mobile home parks in both Port Angeles and later in Corvallis, Ore., before retiring to the Sequim area in 1985.
She moved to Vancouver in 1995.
Survivors include daughter Trenna Jean Jacobson of Vancouver, Wash.; sister Nellie Elizabeth Schultz; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son John George ``Jack" Olson; sisters Bertha Dorenda Ackerson and Dollie Lucille Gallacci; and granddaughters Lynda Jean Jacobson and Jan Lauree Jacobson.
Services: Friday, Sept. 29, 2 p.m., graveside inurnment in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles. Pastor John Fodge will officiate.

Kalman Emery Reistetter Jr.
Aug. 22, 1947 -- Sept. 9, 2006
Kalman Emery Reistetter Jr. of Sequim died of cancer in Olympic Care and Rehabilitation Center, Sequim. He was 59.
He was born in New York City to Kalman Emery and Margaret Louise (Prokotor) Reistetter Sr.
He received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and served in the Air Force in 1969-1980.
While on active duty, Mr. Reistetter attended Air Force Squadron Officer School, where he received undergraduate navigational training.
He was ``top gun" in his class at Air Command Staff College, where he became a tactical aerial combat instructor.
During the Vietnam War, he flew 202 missions, earning three Distinguished Flying Crosses with 18 Oak Leaf clusters. One hundred eighty of those missions were over North Vietnam.
He was discharged with the rank of captain.
Mr. Reistetter held positions in security and fire prevention for MGM Grand Hotel and as a stockbroker with Wayne Wright Austin in Las Vegas.
Before moving to Sequim, he lived in Connecticut, Alabama and California.
His marriage to Dawn DiLorio in Las Vegas ended in divorce.
He is survived by sons Khristian Anthony Reistetter of Sequim and Kalman Emery Reistetter III and Matt Hampton, both of Las Vegas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services: Funeral service was held Sept. 19 with graveside service in Sequim View cemetery on Sept. 21.

Elida Ruth Bekkevar Smith
Jan. 27, 1920 -- Sept. 21, 2006
Elida Ruth Bekkevar Smith died of age-related causes in Carlsborg. She was 86.
Mrs. Smith was born in Blyn to Olaf Magnus and Anna Laura Huffman (Campbell) Bekkavar.
Mrs. Smith married
Edward M. Bryant in 1936; they divorced in 1942.
She married
Lloyd Russell Smith in Port Townsend on Feb. 3, 1944; he died July 7, 1975.
Mrs. Smith graduated from Sequim High School in 1936.
She was a homemaker and owner of Smith Dairy in Carlsborg, living the life of the family dairy farm since 1943.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and baking.
She was a member of VFW Auxiliary and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Olaf Michael and Phyllis Bryant of Salem, Ore., Gary Noel and Christie Bryant of Redmond, Ore., and Danny Russel and Sandra Smith of Sequim; son Edward Neil Bryant of Sequim; daughters and sons-in-law Susan Elsie Smith and Marcus Lester of Arlington and Bonita Elaine Smith and James Jarvis of Cleveland, Utah; brother Richard Huffman Bekkevar of Blyn; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters Laura Constance Bekkevar and Lucille Marie Bekkevar Dolan.
Services: Tuesday, Sept. 26, noon to 2 p.m., visitation at Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel, 108 W. Alder St., Sequim.
Funeral service at 2 p.m. at Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Dennis Niva officiating.
An open house will follow at 242 Cook Road, Carlsborg.
There was cremation.

Margaret Anne Swenson
Jan. 23, 1927 -- Sept. 17, 2006
Margaret Anne Swenson died of colon cancer in her Port Angeles home. She was 79.
She was born to Harry Hijah and Emelie (Hanson) Beetle in Port Angeles. Her father was a former mayor and owner of Owl Drug Store.
She graduated from Roosevelt High School with the class of 1945.
She married
Archie Laurel Swenson in Port Angeles on Sept. 9, 1961.
Mrs. Swenson worked as a telephone operator in Port Angeles; then in a telephone business office in Olympia.
She and her husband were proprietors of a hotel in Honolulu before they retired to Olympia.
The Swensons, who enjoyed traveling and cruising, wintered in Carlsbad, Calif., and Yuma, Ariz.
Mrs. Swenson returned to Port Angeles after the death of her husband on Feb. 17, 1999.
Survivors include sons Jon and Ron Swenson, both of Salem, Ore., and Larry Swenson of Bend. Ore.; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Mercy Swenson of Canoa, Ecuador; daughters and sons-in-law Kathi and Larry Hayden and Barbara and Dennis Iredale, all of Port Angeles, and Janet and Bill McMains of San Bernardino, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Charles Frederick Williams
July 15, 1914 -- Sept. 21, 2006
Charles Frederick Williams died of pnemonia, surrounded by family members in his Sequim home. He was 92.
He was born in Seattle to Seymore and Jennie May (Bennett) Williams.
He married
Florence Nell Daupinee in Seattle on Dec. 30, 1946.
The Williamses first came to the North Olympic Peninsula in 1960 for a weekend home at Diamond Point. After Mr. Williams' retirement in 1975, they made Diamond Point their principal residence.
Mr. Williams was a member of the Appraisers Institute and St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
He enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his wife, survivors include daughter Dr. Nell Wagoner and daughter and son-in-law Robin and John Sahnow, all of Juneau, Alaska; and two grandchildren.
Services: None. Olympic Cremation Association, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Mae Brewer
Dec. 14, 1912 -- Sept. 22, 2006
Helen Mae Brewer of Port Angeles died in a Tacoma care home of respiratory failure. She was 93.
She was born in Leuellen, Neb., to John and Mary J. (Beaird) Owen,
She married
Arthur Elson Brewer on May 2, 1929.
Mrs. Brewer was in the care of Everlyn and William Dulay during the last part of her life.
Survivors include daughter Darlene Alfredson and daughter and son-in-law Deloris and Robert Grunwald, all of Tacoma; daughter Wynona Gresli and daughter and son-in-law Lois and Steve Hoffman, all of Port Angeles; sister Ruby Humphrey of North Platte, Neb.; 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services: Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m., funeral in Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, 105 W. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Graveside service will follow at Mount Angeles Memorial Park cemetery.
