Gibson Gillilan VII
Jan. 22, 1928 -- Oct. 4, 2006
Gibson Gillilan VII of Sequim died of a brain tumor. He was 78.
Mr. Gillilan was born to Gibson and Sarah (Dick) Gillilan VI in Vincennes, Ind.
He married
Flora Priest in Sequim on June 3, 1950.
He served in the Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific during World War II as a machinist's mate.
Mr. Gillilan came to Sequim in 1949. After retiring as a truck driver, he opened his own shop where he worked on cars, built racing engines and restored a 1956 Ford pickup truck.
He enjoyed sports and was active in drag racing, carts, horses, motorcycles and race cars.
Survivors include his wife of Sequim; son and daughter-in-law Gil ``Sam" and Gail Gillilan of Sequim; daughter Sherry Anne Dixon of Port Angeles; brother Jim Priest of Sequim; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: Saturday, Oct. 28, 1 to 4 p.m., open house at 301 W. Hemlock St., Sequim.

Jina Marie Johnson
Oct. 15, 1975 -- Oct. 4, 2006
Jina Marie Johnson of Port Townsend died of heart failure at Jefferson Healthcare hospital. She was 30.
Ms. Johnson was born to Gary Marvin and Terry F. (Borneman) Johnson in Port Angeles.
She graduated from the Job Corps School of Culinary Arts in 1994. In 2004, she graduated from Apollo College Pharmacology School in Portland, Ore.
She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Port Townsend.
Survivors include son Alexander Edward Johnson of Port Townsend; her parents; brother Craig M. Johnson of Port Angeles; and sister and brother-in-law Stephanie and Derek Edlund of Port Angeles.
She was preceded in death by brother Charles ``Chuck" Crawford.
Services: Saturday, Oct. 14, 1 p.m., funeral service at Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, 260 Monroe Road, Port Angeles, with Pastor John Fodge officiating.
Graveside service will follow the funeral at Mount Angeles cemetery, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles.

Edna `Mickey' Schoepflin
Nov. 18, 1926 -- Oct. 4, 2006
Edna ``Mickey" Schoepflin died of age-related causes in Sequim. She was 79.
Mrs. Schoepflin was born to John Niklaus and Lydia (Muller) Laschkewitsch in Goodrich, N.D.
She married
Raymond Schoepflin on July 20, 1947, in Grandview.
Mrs. Schoepflin was a housewife, mother and secretary for an insurance company.
She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Sequim; son Rennie Schoepflin of Cedarpines Park, Calif.; daughter Peggy Corbett of Quesnel, British Columbia; sister Len Schoepflin of Olympia; sister and brother-in-law Amy and Ogden Aaby of College Place; and three grandchildren.
Services: Saturday, Oct. 14, 3 p.m., memorial at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 255 Medsker Road, Sequim, with Pastor Larry McCombs officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church.

Rhonda Kathleen Teall
Oct. 4, 1956 -- Oct. 9, 2006
Rhonda Kathleen Teall of Port Angeles died at Olympic Medical Center. She was 50. Cause of death is pending.
Mrs. Teall was born to Stephen A. and Glenda M. (Giles) Shoop in Arlington, Mass.
She lived in Federal Way for many years and worked as a lineman for Seattle City Light. She moved to Port Angeles in 2000.
Ms. Teall was a member of Lighthouse Christian Center of Port Angeles.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Jeremy and Melinda Fredricks of Seattle and Glen and Sabra Fredricks of Port Angeles; sons Mark Teall and Phillip Teall, both of Port Angeles; mother and stepfather Glenda M. and Larry Lindberg of Joyce; brother Christopher A. Atwood of Tacoma; sister Cynthia L. Sexton of Tacoma; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Services: Saturday, Oct. 14, 3 p.m., memorial at Lighthouse Christian Center, 304 Viewcrest Ave., Port Angeles, with a reception following.

ROBERTA LEE CROSS
Roberta Lee (Bobbie Peterson) Cross, age 76, of Bellingham passed away quietly at Highland Convalescent Center on Monday, October 9, 2006, after a lengthy illness.
She was born February 10, 1930, to Victor and Blanche Schell in Port Angeles.
Bobbie graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1948 and married
Douglas Peterson in September of that year.
They moved to Burlington in 1958 and raised their family there, owning the Big Lake Grocery in Mount Vernon from 1969 until 1974.
After Douglas' death in 1975, Bobbie took up travel and visited family in several foreign countries in the ensuing years.
In 1980, she met and married
George Cross, a Bellingham native and Alaskan fisherman. They shared 24 years together, until his passing in 2004.
Bobbie is survived by her children, Brian Peterson and wife, Sandi, of Bellingham; Teresa Hatter and husband, Michael, of Alger; David Peterson and wife, Nancy, of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; as well as a special daughter, Kay Wiley, of Orlando, Florida, and a special son, Paul Southland and wife, Victoria, of Wrangell, Alaska.
She also enjoyed 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Bobbie was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, VFW Auxiliary Post 1585, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and active in the United Methodist Women.
She excelled at knitting, crocheting and handicrafts, which she selflessly donated to church bazaars, and even developed a secret passion for Northwestern and Alaskan native woodcarving.
She was, at times, a Den Mother, Bluebird and Camp Fire leader. But most often, she was head cheerleader for the dreams and aspirations of her ``young folk."
Whether she was keeping an eye out for the children around her in the berry fields of Skagit Valley, inviting young sailors on liberty from NAS Whidbey Island in for a homecooked meal, or organizing the yearly Easter egg hunts for her extended family, she acted with a servant's heart.
Now she rests in the arms of our Lord.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2006, at Garden Street United Methodist Church in Bellingham, Washington.
Memorials may be made in her name to the United Methodist Missions Fund.

Lillian Louise Haugen
April 4, 1909 -- Oct. 8, 2006
Lillian Louise Haugen of Port Townsend died of age-related causes at Kah Tai Care Center. She was 97.
Mrs. Haugen was born to Otto and Bertha (Grimme) Sievert in Cobban, Wis.
She married
Martin J. Haugen in Eau Claire, Wis., on Oct. 14, 1933.
Mrs. Haugen did housework and childcare at an early age. She then worked at Luther Hospital and as a seamstress for the Wahl Trunk Co. in Eau Claire.
The Haugens moved to Port Townsend in 1945. She worked at Port Townsend Bakery with brothers Ernie and Ed for many years and was known as the lady with the smile and a cookie for the children.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for 60 years and served as president of the Ladies Aid, later known as the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
She was one of the original members of the Monday quilting group and a greeter for Sunday worship services, often inviting servicemen home after church for a homecooked meal.
She was a founding member of The Birthday Club, a group of 12 women who met once a month to celebrate each other's birthdays and raise money for charities.
She worked at the food bank in Port Townsend for many years and at election polls for more than 20 years.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law David M. and Ramona Haugen of Indio, Calif.; son Richard A. Haugen of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter and son-in-law Jane M. and Konrad Schwencke of Port Townsend; sisters Margaret Anderson of Port Townsend and Eva Poulsen of Sacramento, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1984.
Services: Sunday, Oct. 29, 10:30 a.m., memorial service at Grace Lutheran Church, 1120 Walker St., Port Townsend. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Johnnie Earl Houston
July 23, 1944 -- Sept. 30, 2006
Johnnie Earl Houston died of cancer at his Forks home. He was 62.
Mr. Houston was born to Edker Earl and Mary Helen (Tisdale) Houston in Dallas, Texas.
He married
Dorinda Kae Adams on July 15, 1988.
Mr. Houston enjoyed fishing, plants, his outdoor pond, reading and frog collectibles.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, National Home Gardening Club and North American Hunting and Fishing Clubs, and was involved in many book and magazine clubs.
Survivors include his wife of Forks; sons Johnnie Joseph Houston and Clifford Shannon Houston, both of Port Angeles, and Ronald Walter Houston of Forks; daughter and son-in-law Sandra Lynn and Anthony Chapman of Port Angeles; daughter Dorinda Arlene Houston of Forks; sister and brother-in-law Linda Houston and Fransico Morales of Bremerton; his parents; parents-in-law Walter and Arlene Adams of Juneau, Alaska; and six grandchildren.
Services: None. Fern Hill Funeral Home of Aberdeen was in charge of arrangements. His remains were donated to Med Cure of Portland, Ore.

Iris Jerrine Main
Sept. 10, 1919 -- Oct. 11, 2006
Iris Jerrine Main died of age-related causes at Port Angeles Care Center. She was 87.
Mrs. Main was born to Christopher E. and Kate E. (Rodgers) Giles in Center.
She graduated from Chimacum High School in 1937 and married
Earnest L. Main on Dec. 10, 1939, at Chimacum Methodist Episcopal Church.
The Mains owned the Bogachiel Resort from 1945 to 1947.
In 1948, they moved to Port Angeles, where they raised their children.
She enjoyed painting and playing the piano.
She was a member of the First United Methodist and Congregational Church for 49 years. For 73 years, she was a member of and held leadership positions in of various grange halls -- she joined Chimacum Grange in 1933 and Dry Creek Grange in 1948.
She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, in which she also held leadership positions, for 27 years.
Survivors include her husband of Port Angeles; son and daughter-in-law James R. and Sonja Main of Houston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Linda and Melvin R. Lund of Port Angeles; daughter Cathy Main of Los Angeles; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services: Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1:30 p.m., memorial at First United Methodist and Congregational Church, 110 E. Seventh St., Port Angeles with the Rev. John Maxwell officiating.
Reception will follow at the church.
