Franklin S. McFeely
Nov. 10, 1925 -- Oct. 8, 2006
Franklin S. McFeely died of a stroke in his Port Townsend home. He was 80.
He was born in Emporium, Pa., to Frederick and Verna (Ream) McFeely.
He married
Lois Harvey in Shamokin, Pa., in 1950.
Dr. McFeely, who received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Bucknell University and his Ph.D. from Virginia Technical Institute, was a statistics and math professor at Montana State University for 28 years.
Survivors include his wife; son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Eeva McFeely of Kirkland; daughter Melinda McFeely of Bellevue; daughter and son-in-law Amy and Vincent Fejeran of La Conner; and five grandchildren.
Services: None. Linde Family Funeral Service, Sequim, is in charge of cremation.
Daniel L. Moore
Aug. 27, 1981 -- Oct. 14, 2006
Services will be held today for Daniel L. Moore, 25, of Port Angeles. The cause of death is pending.
He was born in Ypsilanti, Mich., to Wayne L. and Karen (Scoviac) Moore.
He married
Merry R. Smircich in Manitou Beach, Mich., on Oct. 31, 2003.
Mr. Moore, who was a Web master and bladesmith, lived in Tecumseh, Adrian and Manitou Beach, all in Michigan, before moving to Port Angeles.
In addition to his wife, sons Joseph and Nathan Barnes and parents-in-law Tom and Sharon Smircich, all of Port Angeles, survivors include his parents, brother Adam Moore and sisters Alyssa and Pat Kast, all of Michigan.
Services: Today, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., visitation at Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, 105 W. Fourth St., Port Angeles, immediately preceding the funeral service at 11 a.m., The Rev. Eldon Officer will officiate.
Fred E. Sands
Dec. 9, 1925 -- Oct. 16, 2006
Fred E. Sands of Port Angeles died of cancer in Olympic Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was 80.
He was born in Port Angeles General Hospital to Fred G. and Marie (Martin) Sands.
Although he graduated from high school in Clallam Bay, he had joined the Navy for World War II duty in the Pacific, and his mother accepted his diploma.
Mr. Sands married
Beth Myers on Nov. 22, 1948. She died Oct. 27, 2001.
He was employed by Pacific Northwest Bell for 37½ years before retiring in 1985.
Hunting and fishing were his favorite pastimes. On many trips, he was the designated wagonmaster, brewmaster and harbormaster.
Mr. Sands is survived by sons David Sands and Jeffrey Sands and daughter and son-in-law Nora and Ray Kienholz, all of Port Angeles; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Mona Myers of Hansville; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services: None. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, was in charge of cremation.

Patricia Lillie Coughlan
Aug. 12, 1948 -- Oct. 7, 2006
Patricia Lillie Coughlan of Port Angeles died of cancer at age 58.
She was born in Chelan to Byron Uriah and Bertha Lorraine (Fredricks) Worley and graduated from Wenatchee High School.
She married
Brian Coughlan, whom she later divorced.
Mrs. Coughlan did secretarial work in the San Francisco Bay area and Port Angeles.
She particularly enjoyed listening to Beatles recordings.
Survivors include her mother, brothers Byron Worley Jr. and Melvin Worley, sister Katherine Worley and sister and brother-in-law Augusta and Gary Heinz, all of Wenatchee; brother Larry Worley of North Bend; brothers and sisters-in-law Al and Bernie Worley of Hawaii and Clayton and Pam Worley of East Wenatchee; and sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Ernie Chapman of Portland, Ore.
Services: Oct. 27, 11 a.m., memorial and reception at her mother's home, 1006 Amherst Ave., Wenatchee.

Gene Pogue

Gene Pogue of Sequim died at age 77.
Services: Saturday, Oct. 21, 2 p.m., memorial in Dominion Terrace Clubhouse, 1301 S. Third Ave., Sequim.

JACK MICHAEL HAMMOND
Beloved Father of Joshua and Rachel Hammond, Grandfather of Alex, Son of Verna and the late Ray Hammond, brother and friend to so many more.
We celebrate the life of Jack Michael Hammond, who passed away Friday the 13th of October, 2006, in Port Angeles. He was 51.
Jack was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on the 27th of February, 1955, and graduated from Puyallup High School in 1973.
In October of 1993, Jack moved with his family to Port Angeles, where he became the Branch Manager for Kaman Industrial Technologies and remained so until he died.
Whether he was fishing, camping, placing wood on a campfire, gardening, playing the guitar, listening to music and/or playing with his dogs, Jack's love for life had no end.
Jack said his greatest achievement was not only becoming a dad, but a grandpa to his daughter's baby son, Alex.
Jack will be cherished and missed by all who knew and loved him. He is with the Lord now.
Jack is survived by son Joshua (Sara) of Everett, Washington; daughter Rachel and grandson Alex of Cheney, Washington; and mother Verna of Puyallup, Washington.
He also leaves behind sisters Laurie and Joan (Glen) Smith, and brothers Richard and Tom.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held Saturday, the 21st of October, at 1 p.m. at the Puyallup Elks Lodge, 314 27th St. N.E., Puyallup, WA 98372.

DUSTIN LEVI SCOTT
Dustin Levi Scott lived a life with a wonderfully big heart.
Born on August 18, 1984, in North Fork, Idaho, to Gary and Sharon Scott, he moved on from this world September 30, 2006.
Dustin loved to be around people. He most enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to music, playing cribbage, fishing and telling stories. He had a tremendous amount of charisma, and people found themselves wanting to be around him.
One of his favorite activities was gift-giving, which he would often do beyond his means.
Dustin is missed, loved and survived by his son, Mathias; his son's mother, Janelle Inman; his siblings, Marcie, Tery, Sarah, Zach, Ben, Colby and Lance; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Scott, on December 15, 2005, and his mother, Sharon Scott, on April 22, 2006.
Dustin is a great brother and friend. He is loved and will be missed until we meet again.
An informal Celebration of Dustin's life will be held at the Scott family's home, located at 309 Senz Road in Sequim on Thursday, October 12, 2006, beginning at 6 p.m. All who knew him are welcome at any time, as always.

Virginia May Jones
Sept. 8, 1949 -- Oct. 6, 2006
Virginia May Jones of Aberdeen died of cancer in Forks. She was 57.
Mrs. Jones was born to Edgar B. and Irene Frances (Wiles) Buchanan in Sedro-Woolley.
She married
Bernard E. Jones on June 17, 1987. They were divorced on June 6, 2005.
Mrs. Jones graduated from Peninsula College. She had resided in Forks until 2004 and was a shingle packer at a Forks shake mill.
She enjoyed the outdoors, her flowers and her family.
Survivors include daughters Marcella May Maden of Aberdeen and Diane Frances Nix of Crown City, Ohio; brother Vernon Buchanan of Matlock; and four grandchildren.
Son Joseph Lahoe preceded her in death.

Gladys B. `Pat' Sternke
Dec. 11, 1914 -- Oct. 8, 2006
Gladys B. ``Pat" Sternke died in Sequim of age-related causes. She was 91.
Mrs. Sternke was born to Herbert and Burneice Bowlin in Worth, Mo.
She married
Eugene C. Sternke in Long Beach, Calif. He died June 22, 2004.
Mrs. Sternke moved to SunLand in Sequim from Los Angeles in 1979.
She enjoyed playing the violin and bonsai gardening, and held a pilot's license. She was a member of the Bonsai Club and Chapter FY of PEO.
There are no survivors.

Louis Baker
July 30, 1916 -- Sept. 27, 2006
Louis Baker of Sequim died of Alzheimer's disease in Poulsbo. He was 88.
Mr. Baker was born to George W. and Eula (Sheppard) Baker.
He married
Jessie Baker in 1975.
During World War II, he served with the Marine Corps in the South Pacific in the torpedo bombing squadron nicknamed the Red Devils.
He then was a lumberman in Eastern Oregon.
Survivors include step-daughter Winona Mindolovich of San Jose, Calif.
