Maria Belen Beliz passed away Aug. 9, 2009. She was born in Reynosa, Mexico, July 31, 1957.
Many knew her for her work as a cosmetologist. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Lupe Beliz; two sons Sergio and Josue Beliz; three grandchildren.
Fay Raymond Sams, 1920 – 2009
Fay Raymond Sams, 89, of Othello, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at the Coventry House with his family by his side.
Fay was born on Jan. 22, 1920, in Weissert, Neb., to Roy and Goldie (Sampson) Sams.
He graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1938.
In high school, Fay played fast pitch softball.
Robert J. Kielian, 1926 – 2009
Robert Joe Kielian, 83, of Othello passed away August 7, 2009, from a very rare and aggressive cancer.
He was diagnosed in the first week of July and a month later, he passed at his home with his loving wife and son by his side.
Robert was one of the first pioneers in Othello.
Marian F. Vogtli, 1940 – 2009
Marian F. Vogtli, 68, of Othello, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at her home with her daughter by her side.
Marian was born in Chicago, Ill., Aug. 26, 1940, to Walter and Marie (Stelmachowski) Fejdasz. She was raised and educated in the Chicago area. In 1958, she met George Vogtli on a blind date. They married

Richard “Rick” Leon Johnston, 1952 – 2009
Richard “Rick” Leon Johnston was born Feb. 18, 1952, in Toppenish. He passed away Aug. 6, 2009, in Othello.
He lived in Toppenish until 1960 when the family moved to Othello.
Rick graduated from Othello High School in 1971. He worked his whole life as an auto mechanic and radiator repairman. Rick enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Renae Marie Sibley, 1955 – 2009
Renae Marie Sibley, 54, passed away on July 31, 2009. Born in Othello on June 13, 1955, to Howard and Shirley Sibley (Fry), she grew up in Othello and graduated from Othello High School in 1973.
After attending Kinman Business School in Spokane, she worked for the telephone company for 30 years.
Gillie A. Jacobs, 1929 - 2009
Gillie A. Jacobs, a longtime resident of Roslyn, Wash., passed away at the age of 80 on July 26, 2009.
Gil was born June 21, 1929, to Gillie and Etta (Townsend) Jacobs in Omak.
He was first employed with the Milwaukee Railroad in 1948 as an engineer and later worked for Burlington Northern. He retired in 1993.
Lorraine C. Williamson, 1920 - 2009
Lorraine C. Williamson peacefully passed away on July 6, 2009. She was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Minnesota and moved with her husband Marvin to Washington state where they made their home and raised their children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin B. Williamson.
Gary A. Buchmann, 1951 - 2009
Gary A. Buchmann, 57, died July 9, 2009, at Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata.
Born July 14, 1951, to Ervin and Lyda Buchmann in Moses Lake, Gary grew up in Moses Lake and graduated from Odessa High School in 1969. From there, he worked in the fertilizer business, for the Quincy Irrigation District.
Sonia D. Godinez, 1967 – 2009
Sonia D. Godinez, 41, passed from this life on July 3, near Royal City.
Sonia was born Sept. 22, 1967, in Dayton to Ignacio DeLeon and Yolanda (Hernandez) DeLeon. She was raised in Cunningham but lived in Moses Lake.
She was preceded in death by her father and is survived by her mother. She is also survived by four children.
Martin D. Arriola, 1948 – 2009
Martin D. Arriola, 61, longtime Moses Lake resident, was killed in a motorcycle accident Friday, July 3. Martin’s Farming, operated with his son, is a large haying operation in the Columbia Basin and soil fumigation business in the tri-state area.
Martin was born April 13, 1948, in Ontario, Ore.
Loren Deming Hall, 1933 – 2009
Loren Deming Hall, 76, longtime Othello resident, passed away at home with his family Dec. 13, 2009.
Loren was born Nov. 2, 1933, in Tacom and was raised on the coast and in California. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War and suffered injuries and came back to the Seattle area.
He was an excellent cribbage player, loved to hunt and fish and had a passion to entertain. He always had a wonderful sense of humor, pointing out truths about life to draw out a laugh; he loved to pull pranks on any unsuspecting person.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, aunt, grama, and his best friend Donny Rodgers- DR.
He is survived by Gayle Lyons, his true lifetime companion; son Darin Herreid; daughter AnnetteKaye Casady; six grandchildren Jim, Donny, Saige, Whisper, Danielle, Daniella and Bethanie; Ed and Pat Lyons, Val and Wendy Lyons, Laurie and Mike Stuckel, Myra and Jim Pier; and his nieces and nephews.
At Loren’s request an Irish Wake will be held Saturday, Dec. 19, at 3 p.m. at 2078 Atkinson Road, Othello, with Pastor Gary Pierce officiating.

Thomas Michael Walraf, 1941 – 2009
Thomas Michael Walraf, 68, of Othello, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at his home, with his loving wife at his side.
Thomas was born July 6, 1941, in Glendale, Calif., to Emmet and Elisie (Meltz) Walraf. At the age of 3, Thomas moved with his family to Hook Creek, Calif., in the San Bernardino Mountains.
W.T. “Dub” Dye, 1933 – 2009
Dub Dye, 76, passed away Dec. 9, 2009, at his home in Othello. He was born Jan. 20, 1933, in Busch, Ark., and lived in Othello for 45 years.
Dub was a very kind person who was always there for anyone in need, expecting nothing in return. He enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo, woodworking.
Charles Allen “Chuck” Porter
Charles Allen “Chuck” Porter died peacefully is his sleep Dec. 10, 2009, at the age of 77.
He is survived by his wife of almost 44 years Karen, brother Merl (June), of Coquille, Ore., sister Carol (Russ) of Yachats, Ore., daughter Debbie Harrison (Lee), of Lineville, Ala., and four sons Charlie (Renee), of Cheney, Andrew (Lisa), (cut off).
Rosie Ann Rodriguez, 1949 – 2009
Rosie Ann Rodriguez, 59, of Othello, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at Othello Community Hospital.
Rosie was born Dec. 23, 1949, in Basin, Wyo., to Edward and Vera Ramirez Vialpando.
In 1966, she moved to Othello where she worked in the fields, then as a waitress at the Cimarron and finally, as a housekeeper at Othello Community.
Eddie C. Eckenberg, 1937 – 2009
Eddie C. Eckenberg was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Nov. 29, 2009, after a lengthy battle with rheumatoid arthritis. He fought the disease courageously and on his terms. He spent his final day at home with the love of his life Kay and his adoring family.
Eddie was born April 8, 1937.
Norma Norine Engles, 1920 – 2009
Norma Norine Engles, 89, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland.
Norma was born May 30, 1920, in Delhi, Iowa, to Roy and Arlice (Bartlett) Andrews. She graduated from high school in Delhi. She met Merl Engles in high school; they married
Nov. 9, 1940, in Keoka, Mo. They settled in Iowa.
Donna Fay Donley, 1936 – 2009
On Nov. 18, 2009, we lost our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Donna Fay Donley was born on May 17, 1936, in Ontario, Ore. She was the only child of J.A. “Bud” and Lucille Young.
Donna’s father was in the construction business and they moved often. Donna attended 13 schools in 12 years.
