ROBERT ATWOOD
Robert G. Atwood, 69, died April 7, 2006, from complications of cancer treatment.
He was born in Madison, Wisc., on Jan. 31, 1937, to Robert B. and Loraine Atwood. He spent his youth in Gays Mills, Wisc., hiking and camping in the hills and canoeing and fishing the Kickapoo River. Through these pursuits, he became an Eagle Scout and obtained the Order of the Arrow. He continued to enjoy the outdoors for the rest of his life.
DAN JACK
Dan Jack, 63, died April 6, 2006, at his home in Ellensburg.
Jack led the Central Washington University Alumni Relations office and the Alumni Association for more than 10 years with dignity, competence and a keen sense of mission. Dan was a very important part of the University Relations management team and will be tremendously missed. Dan was committed to both helping current students through scholarships and other programs, while keeping our graduates, young and old, connected to Central.
EDNA MCKEAN
Edna I. McKean, 94, died April 9, 2006, at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital in Ellensburg.
Edna was born on Jan. 17, 1912, to Mike and Veronica (Vicevic) Miskulin. She was raised and attended Roslyn Schools and lived her entire life in Roslyn.
KATHLEEN MEYER
Kathleen Nancy Keeton-McNamara-Meyer, 43, of Olympia, died April 10, 2006, at her home.
Kathleen was born May 22, 1962 in Everett. Kathleen attended Ellensburg schools from grades 1 through 10. In 1980 she graduated from Redmond High School in Redmond. In 1984 she received her bachelor of science degree from Central Washington University. On May 3, 2003 she married
Daniel Bruce Meyer.
BARBARA ENGEL
Barbara (Mundy) Engel, 80, of Kirkland, died April 9, 2006.
She was born in Ellensburg on Jan. 12, 1926, the daughter of Albert J. Mundy and Thelma W. Mundy.
JAMES HATLESTAD
James L. Hatlestad, 51, of Ellensburg, died April 8, 2006, at Kittitas Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Yakima on Oct. 28, 1954, one of six children to Elmer and Pauline (McGrew) Hatlestad.
LOIS FERRELL
Lois Ferrell, 88, died April 6, 2006, in Vancouver.
She was born in Leahbridge, Ala., on Aug. 8, 1917, the daughter of Warner and Laura Kimball.
VIRGINIA OLDS
Virginia Olds, 82, died of respiratory failure April 17, 2006 at the Village Health Care Center in Missoula, Mont.
She was born Virginia Dare on Oct. 9, 1923 to Mary Ann (McKelvey) and Thomas Dare in Spokane. She attended elementary school in Spokane and high school in Helena, Mont., graduating in 1941. She was active in many clubs and sports in high school and maintained many of those high school friendships throughout her lifetime. She attended the University of Montana for one year and took history classes from Montana U. S. Senator Mike Mansfield.
Robert Duane Jaderlund
Robert D. Jaderlund, age 79, died peacefully at home on Sunday, April 23.
He was born in Roslyn on January 29, 1927 to Gus and Margaret (Thompson) Jaderlund. He graduated from Cle Elum High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Army in Alaska after graduation. He played professional baseball for seven years in the Boston Braves farm system. In 1953, he married
his beloved wife Marlene Miller in her hometown of Fairmont, Minn. He taught school for 28 years and was football coach in Entiat, Selah and Naches. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for many years.
Robert R. Owen
Robert R. Owen, 62, of Ellensburg, died Tuesday, April 25, following a sudden cardiac arrest at his farm home. He was born in Seattle on December 3, 1943, and was the only son of four children by Keith and Elva (Kinder) Owen.
Upon completion of his education he served in the U.S. Army and then worked in a variety of jobs before he established a fabricating plant in Kent where he raised his family. He moved to the Kittitas Valley in 1970 and enjoyed life as a farmer for more than 35 years, appreciating his rural surroundings and the opportunity to pursue his interest in hunting. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.

Connie Colleen Cook Britt of Federal Way died Oct. 19 in Bellevue. She was 50.
Born Dec. 9, 1951 in Seattle, she was a lifetime Federal Way resident. She was a teacher at Brooklake Christian School where she co-developed a “Love and Honor” curriculum which became the foundation for “Operation Teen Respect, ” a nationally recognized youth abstinence education program.
She enjoyed sports, cooking, wedding planning, and being with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Britt of Federal Way; children Matthew Allen Britt, Kendra Lynn Britt, and Caitlin Nicole Britt of Federal Way; mother, Elaine E. Cook of Federal Way; brothers, Steven T. Cook of Tacoma, and Keith M. Cook of Federal Way; and sister, Teri K. Sato of Federal Way.
She was preceded in death by her father, Durward M. Cook.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today and Thursday, Oct. 24 at Price Helton Funeral Home, 702 Auburn Way N.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25 in Community of Christ at St. Lukes Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Mountain View cemetery, Auburn.
Memorials are suggested to the Britt Family Fund at Boeing Employees Credit Union, American Cancer Society or Community of Christ at St. Lukes.
Fink, Andrew Thursday, 10 Oct 2002
Andrew J. Fink of Federal Way died Oct. 10. He was 83.
He was born Oct. 4, 1919 in Great Falls, Mont. He moved to Michigan as a young child and graduated from Michigan State University.
He served in the Army during World War II.
After the war, he lived in Ephrata, where he taught high school science and math from the late 1940s to 1956.
Starting in 1956, he worked for Boeing as an engineer until retiring.
He was a longtime member of Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Federal Way.
Survivors include his son, David Fink of Federal Way; daughters Kathryn Crandell of Seattle and Susan LaMunyon of Ephrata; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Oct. 16 at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Private inurnment will be at Mountain View cemetery in Auburn. Price-Helton Funeral Home of Auburn is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Northwest Harvest.
Carlisle, Carl Monday, 07 Oct 2002
Carl “Don” Carlisle died Oct. 7 at his home in Redondo. He was 85.
Born Nov. 20, 1916, in Puyallup, he was a 51-year resident of Redondo.
During World War II, he served in the Army in the South Pacific.
He was a retired Teamster, having driven long-haul and local trucks for more than 40 years. During his retirement, he traveled in the United States with his wife, spending winters in the Arizona desert and camping in his motorhome.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie; his children, Donna Barber of Ventura, Calif., Carolyn Mosby of Palo Alto, Calif., Shirley Cowan of Oak Harbor and Mike Carlisle of Federal Way; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances be made in his name to Franciscan Foundation, Franciscan Hospice, P.O. Box 1502, Tacoma, WA 98401-9836.
Hoban, Patrick Saturday, 05 Oct 2002
Patrick Terrence Hoban died of cancer Oct. 5. He was 62.
Born Oct. 3, 1940, in Tacoma, he was a graduate of Bellarmine Preparatory and Central Washington State College (now university), earned a master of education from Portland University and a doctorate from Washington State University.
He spent 32 years in public education, retiring in 1995 as superintendent of schools of Fife. He was president-elect of the National State School Retirees Executives Association and executive director of the 16, 000-member Washington State School Retirees Association.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judith; children Colleen Garrison of Vancouver, Patrick J. Hoban of Pennsylvania, and Anne Hoban of Puyallup; his mother, Patricia Hoban of Tacoma; two brothers and two sisters; and four grandchildren.
Mass was celebrated Oct. 11 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Fife.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fife Scholarship Fund or the WSSRA Scholarship Fund.
Tirrell, Juanita Tuesday, 01 Oct 2002
Juanita Tirrell died Oct. 1. She was 75.
She was born Oct. 21, 1926, and was a 25-year resident of Federal Way.
She was a secretary for 20 years at Emerson Elementary School in the Seattle School District, a member of the Federal Way Women’s Club and a volunteer at Federal Way Group Health.
She is survived by daughters Linda Moshier, Marcia Hallmark, Karen Waddle and Kathy Ristine, all of Federal Way; a sister, Alice Coleman of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Walter Tirrell.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 5 at Light of Christ Lutheran Church, 2400 SW. 344th St. Arrangements are by Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle.
The family suggests memorials be made to Swedish Hospital.
