DOLORES GOE
Dolores Angeline (Dohrer) Goe, 83, died Feb. 23, 2005, at home in Ellensburg surrounded by family and friends.
She was born on Aug. 8, 1921, in Tacoma, the daughter of William and Georgia (Mathewson) Wickman. She was raised in Tacoma, and following graduation for Lincoln High School in 1940, she worked at Birchfield Boiler. There she met Robert L. Dohrer. They were married
on May 23, 1943, at the Little Church on Prairie in Lakewood. Together they raised two children, Bob and Kay.
She was employed at Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing as a registrar. Following the death of her husband in 1978, she and James W. Goe were married
and moved to Graham. Jim and Dolores enjoyed traveling in their fifth-wheel trailer. She also enjoyed a well-manicured lawn and yard, sewing, swimming and the sun.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bob and Jim; her mother and father, who was the first Tacoma police officer killed in the line of duty in 1925; and her sister, Lois Ratcliffe. Dolores is survived by her son, Robert M. (Linda) Dohrer of Grapeview; daughter, Kay D. (Philip) Kenison of Ellensburg; grandchildren, Scott Dohrer, Lisa (Kelly) Dennis, Kent (Lindsey) Kenison and Kyle (Leta) Kenison; and great-granddaughter, Taylor Dennis.
Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Park in Tacoma on March 4 with services at the graveside at 12:30 p.m. followed by a reception at 1 p.m. in the Oak Room at the cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice Friends, 302 E. Second Ave., Ellensburg, or Kittitas County American Red Cross, 302 N. Pearl St., Ellensburg.

ROBERT PORTEOUS
Robert W. M. "Mac" Porteous, 47, died Feb. 13, 2005, at Royal Vista Care Center in Ellensburg. He succumbed to a long battle with lung cancer.
Mac was born on April 6, 1957, in Spokane, the youngest of four children of Willys C. and Marion E. Porteous. He spent his early years in Spokane and Everett, and moved with his family to Cle Elum in 1968. He attended school there and graduated from Cle Elum-Roslyn High School in 1975.
Mac was employed in the logging trade at a variety of jobs starting with working for Wayne Hill right out of school. He most enjoyed his work as a timber faller, and this took him throughout Washington and to several western states. An area he especially loved to work in was the Olympic Peninsula.
Those who knew Mac as a young man will recall his love of nature. He spent many happy hours hiking, camping, biking and rock climbing in the Cle Elum area. He was interested in many things and was very well read. He enjoyed playing guitar and writing poetry. He and Debbie Martz were married
in Easton in 1986. Together they had a son, James, in 1990, which Mac considered the best gift he ever received.
Until his last hospitalization, Mac resided in Cle Elum. He had made many friends on his lifes journey, and he valued them all. He very much appreciated the phone calls and visits he had from old friends during his illness.
Mac was preceded in death by his mother in 1979 and his father in 1992. He is survived by his son, James; former wife, Debbie of Roslyn; brother, John Watson of Boise, Idaho; sisters, Trudy Thayer and Bobbie LeFeuvre of Ellensburg; three nieces and five nephews.
At Macs request there will be no services. His desire for a remembrance was that friends take time this summer to go out into the woods, enjoy nature and think of him. Memorials may be made to Kittitas County ADDS.

ROBERT BADDA
Robert Frank Badda, 78, the son of Frank and Marie Alice (Martin) Badda and brother of Geraldine Schuchman, died at home in Roslyn on Dec. 8, 2005.
Bob was born in Roslyn on Oct. 22, 1927. He graduated from Cle Elum High School in 1945 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Pacific until he was injured and sent to the Marine Hospital in Seattle. During his recuperation he met Rose Cvitkovich. They were married
on Feb. 18, 1950.
Bob and Rose made their home in Roslyn where Bob worked in the coal mines until they closed and then for the Washington State Department of Transportation. Bob retired from the highway department after a stroke. Rose stayed at his side as beloved wife and caregiver. They were married
for 45 years.
Bob was the father of four children: Roxann (Bob) Snow of Vashon Island, Jeri (Scott) Runyan of Cle Elum, BJ (Cecilia) Badda of Teanaway and Carolyn (Tim) Bednar of Roslyn. He doted on his five grandchildren, Brett Snow of Oceanview, Hawaii, Deisree Gibb of Enumclaw, Cody Giustetti of Cle Elum, Kelly Giustetti of Ellensburg and Boone Badda of Cle Elum; and his five great-grandchildren, Caroline and Julia Gibb, Chad and Annika Snow and Taylor Peterson.
Bob will be missed by his family and many others.
Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 16 in the Roslyn Veterans cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Upper County Veterans of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Friends of Kittitas Valley or the Roslyn Old City Hall Renovation Project.

Robert R. Owen
Robert R. Owen, 62, of Ellensburg, died Tuesday, April 25, following a sudden cardiac arrest at his farm home. He was born in Seattle on December 3, 1943, and was the only son of four children by Keith and Elva (Kinder) Owen.
Upon completion of his education he served in the U.S. Army and then worked in a variety of jobs before he established a fabricating plant in Kent where he raised his family. He moved to the Kittitas Valley in 1970 and enjoyed life as a farmer for more than 35 years, appreciating his rural surroundings and the opportunity to pursue his interest in hunting. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.
Survivors include a daughter, Chelyse Owen of Ellensburg; two sons, Jonathan (Shari) Owen of Puyallup and Mike Owen of Ellensburg; five grandchildren, his mother and two sisters.
Arrangements are pending for a memorial celebration at the family home. Friends who wish to attend are invited to call Chelyse at (509) 607-1163 for details. Following cremation family members will honor his wishes regarding his final resting place. Arrangements are being handled by Affordable Funeral Care.
ERNA BATOR
Verna Ann Bator, 86, died Oct. 13, 2006.
Verna was born in Roslyn on July 20, 1920. She attended grade school in Roslyn and then graduated from Cle Elum High School. After high school Verna started working for Miller Lumber Company as its secretary. One evening Verna was attending a dance at the Liberty Dance Hall and it was there she met her future husband, Andy Bator. It was love at first sight and they were later married
in August of 1944. They moved to Cle Elum and started their home. Verna was a loving housewife and also worked for the local school district for many years.
Verna loved dancing with her husband, Andy, and will be best remembered for that.Verna and Andy owned and operated Bator Lumber Company for more than 40 years. The lumber company is still in operation today.
She loved flowers, working in her garden, camping with her family and playing bingo. Verna was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church in Cle Elum, past president of the Alter Society and long time member of the Eagles Auxiliary. To her family she was always Mother of the year.
Verna is survived by her five children, Sharon Wallgren (Terry), Andy Bator (Cathie), Christine Felicity (Jim), Kathy Baker (Steve), Robert Bator (Tami); grandchildren, Alisha and Hailey Bator and Maria Baker; sister, Mary Blazevich; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Andy Bator.
There will be a time of visitation at the Cascade Funeral Home in Cle Elum on Oct. 19 from 4-7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cle Elum Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Cle Elum. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Society or the Cle Elum fire Department or donation of choice.

SKIP KAUZLARICH
Skip Kauzlarich 65, a Ronald resident, died April 13, 2006.
He was born on Jan. 20, 1941, in Juneau, Alaska, and was brought to Roslyn by his father, Steve Kauzlarich, in 1943. He was raised in Roslyn by his grandparents, Frank and Eva Kauzlarich. Skip enjoyed growing up in Roslyn and lived in the family home for more than 50 years. Skip was a private first class in the United States Army and served in Germany from 1964 to 1966.
He returned to Roslyn and married
Dodie in 1967 and remained in Roslyn to raise his family: son Scott, and daughter, Brandi. Skip truly enjoyed spending time with family and his three granddaughters were his pride and joy.
Skip spent his entire life dedicated to hard work and owned his own log truck for more than 30 years. He began working in the logging industry for Dick Fish of Easton in the early 1970s and spent many years working for Weyerhaeuser out of North Bend. Skip became known statewide for his friendly, boisterous nature by all who worked with him.
Some of Skips passions in life included logging, classic cars, friends and family. He was one of the founding members of the Strangers Car Club which began during Skips high school years and held the first car show now known as The Run to Roslyn. Skip remained a member of the car club his entire life. Skip also was a member of the Roslyn volunteer Fire Department, Cle Elum Eagles Aerie 649 and the Moose Fraternity.
Skip is survived by his son, Scott Kauzlarich of Cle Elum; daughter, Brandi Kauzlarich of Medical Lake; mother of Skips children, Dodie Kauzlarich of Cle Elum; granddaughters, Kaelesha Kauzlarich of Medical Lake, Kassidy Kauzlarich of Cle Elum and Kaytlin Kauzlarich of Cle Elum; and niece, Breann Osmonovich of Thorp. He is preceded in death by his father, Steve Kauzlarich; and grandparents Frank and Eva Kauzlarich.
Service times were not announced. Memorial donations can be made to the Roslyn Volunteer Fire Dept.

DARRELL ETTLES
Darrell Ettles, 70, longtime Royal City resident, died at home April 11, 2006.
He was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Ellensburg, the son of Wallace and Edith Ettles. Darrell was the youngest of 15 children. He grew up in the Kittitas Valley where he worked hard with his father doing custom work until he learned to a drive truck. For years Darrell drove hay trucks and did longhauls up and down the West Coast until finally settling in Royal City in 1972.
Darrell worked for Sun Royal Company for many years. He spent many hours working on the fertilizer spreader with his wife, Betty, driving the nurse truck, to haul chemicals to the plant. He later worked for Mianecki Farms and retired from B&G; Farms.
Darrell was a hard worker, but he loved having a good time, too. He always had a joke to tell and always laughed heartily. If there was a dance or party you could usually find him making the most of the chance to dance.
Since retirement Darrell spent much of his time with his two granddaughters. They were truly the apple of his eye. He would happily regal anybody who would listen to stories of their latest accomplishments big or small. He once said as a younger man he never understood why older people were rushing here or there to
ALICE SWANSON
Alice E. Swanson, 97, of Ellensburg, died April 8, 2006, at Kittitas Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Seattle on Jan. 14, 1909, one of three children to Swedish decedents Charles and Anne Swanson.
She was raised and educated in Prosser, graduating from Prosser High School in 1923. She later attended Central Washington College of Education (now Central Washington University) in Ellensburg, graduating in 1941. She taught kindergarten in Selah and Roslyn for about 10 years before moving to Seattle. Working for Darigold, she served as assistant to the president and retired after more than 30 years with the company.
Her interests included traveling, golfing, needlework and flower gardening. She remained close to the Kittitas Valley through a lifelong friendship with Alpha Allen and Mike Rossetti, a family bond that began in the 1930s and continued even after Allens death through Alphas family. In 2001, she moved with her brother, Harold, to Ellensburg to be closer to family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Art and Harold Swanson. She is survived by her nieces, Mary (Bob) Hagemeier and Susan Kelleher, both of Ellensburg, and Sally Swanson of California; as well as a number of great-nieces and nephews.
Following cremation inurnment will be at Evergreen Washelli Columbarium in Seattle with other family members.

JAMES HATLESTAD
James L. Hatlestad, 51, of Ellensburg, died April 8, 2006, at Kittitas Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Yakima on Oct. 28, 1954, one of six children to Elmer and Pauline (McGrew) Hatlestad.
He was raised in Nampa, Idaho, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war, stationed in the Panama Canal zone. He returned to the Yakima Valley in 1974 and made his home in Wapato before moving to Ellensburg two years ago. Prior to retirement due to health reasons, he worked in maintenance in private business.
James was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He is survived by his son, Victor Hatlestad of Yakima; brothers, Larry Hatlestad of Yakima and Robert Hatlestad of Goldendale; sisters, Elmeretta Martinez of Arlington and Bonnie Tremblin of Marysville.
Following cremation a private family memorial observance is planned.

BARBARA ENGEL
Barbara (Mundy) Engel, 80, of Kirkland, died April 9, 2006.
She was born in Ellensburg on Jan. 12, 1926, the daughter of Albert J. Mundy and Thelma W. Mundy.
Barbara attended Ellensburg High School and Central Washington University. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, volunteered more than 35, 000 hours to the Seattle Veterans Hospital and started a special peoples Christmas cruise 25 years ago.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and a brother. She is survived by her children, Cindy Little, Jerry (Kathy) Engel, Tim (Sandy) Engel and Jill Weber; grandchildren, Chris (Nosheen), Brandon, Jeremy, Jadyn, Lauren, Adam, Cammie and Callie; great-grandchildren, Emma and Cayden; and sister, Beverly German.
Funeral services will be April 15 at Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Bellevue. Memorials are suggested to Huntingtons Disease Society of America.
DONALD L. OSMONOVICH
Donald L. Osmonovich, 62, died Tuesday at his rural Cle Elum home.

LAURA PLASTER
Laura B. Plaster, 76, of Milton-Freewater, Ore., died March 30, 2006, at her home.
She was born April 1, 1929 in Walla Walla, the daughter of August and Edith Davis Klone. She attended Washington School in Walla Walla until the family moved to Milton-Freewater and she attended Ferndale School. She spent most of her younger years in Oregon, working on ranches. She met Eugene Plaster of Walla Walla and they were later married
in Milton-Freewater. Laura and her husband moved to Ellensburg in 1961. She later moved back to Milton-Freewater to be near her family.
ORA STONER BUCKMASTER
Lora Stoner Buckmaster, 84, of Palm Desert, Calif., died of natural causes on March 9, 2006.
Lora and Lola Stoner attended three years of high school and graduated in the class of 1939 in Ellensburg and enjoyed several class reunions in recent years.
PATRICIA ROTH
Patricia Patti Lorraine Roth, 55, died April 1, 2006, after a battle with cancer and colbalt radiation treatment for 34 years.
She was born Jan. 11, 1951. She and her family lived in Ellensburg from 1989 to 1997. She was a member of the Four Square Church.
