He is survived by his sisters, Bonnie Cherry, Jeanne Belles and June McCullough; grandson Owen Evans; one niece and nine nephews.
Jimmie was a courageous soldier and warrior who championed truth, justice and equality in his professional and private life.
He had a long and highly respected career in corrections, serving as a Captain for the Monroe Corrections Complex.
He was a leader, respected and admired by those he touched. Jimmie was a visionary who had a unique combination of wit, humor and the ability to simplify even the most complex tasks. His philosophy was "if you're going to move a mountain, you do it a bucket at a time". This philosophy was shared by his father who proceeded him in death.
Although unpretentious, his principles were evident in his day to day life at home and work. He constantly challenged life with a spirited approach which had a profound influence on those around him. Jimmie was a non-conformist who lived his life according to his personal convictions.
He will always be loved and so missed by all who knew him.
