Brian W. Brotzman

Brian W. Brotzman, 45, passed away on August 19, 2003 at his home. He was born on September 27, 1958 in Everett, WA.

He left behind his mother Jean Pemberton of Marsyville; wife Cheryl Brotzman (Gardner) of Tulalip; brother Jeff Brotzman and Ina Miles of Marysville; children Jessica and Robert Brotzman of Alpharteea, GA; step-children, Yolanda Mason of Marsyville, and Kathy Lewis of Juneau, AK; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends and loved ones.

Brian was strong willed, big hearted, and a fun loving man. He worked at the Tulalip Casino as a Security Guard for three years. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army from which he retired in 1996.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville.

A gathering of friends and family will be at Cherly's home, 3130 70th Street NW, Marysville.

David A. Johnson

David A. Johnson, 66, of Everett, WA passed away on August 12, 2003.

He was born on April 22, 1937 in Everett to Arthur and Leontine (Schonmaker) Johnson. He attended local schools, graduating from Everett High School in 1955 and Everett Community College in 1972. In between schooling he was in the United States Navy. After graduating from College he was a City of Everett Police Officer before retiring for medical reasons in 1973. He enjoyed traveling, golfing and football.

He is survived by his mother Leontine of Everett; daughter Theresa of Indianapolis; brothers, Richard (Joanna) of Everett and Edwin (Billie) of Harstein Island; and one grandchild.

Besides his father he was preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Johnson.

There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, August 23, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy Funeral Home in Everett, WA.

Earl Dwight McQuesten

Earl Dwight McQuesten, 93, of Arlington, passed away August 19, 2003.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 23, 2003 at the Arlington Cemetery.

Arrangements by Weller Funeral Home, Arlington.

Edward "Ed" A. Osborn

Edward "Ed" A. Osborn, 61, of Monroe, WA, passed away August 20, 2003.

Edward was born on January 4, 1942 in Seattle, WA.

He is survived by his wife Vickie Osborn, children, grandchildren, and great-grand-children.

No service, at his request.

J. Darwin "JD" Owenby

JD Owenby, 47, of Marysville, died August 16, 2003.

He was born December 15, 1955 in Seattle, WA and lived in Everett and Marysville most of his life. JD attended Everett schools, graduating from Everett High School in 1973. He enjoyed varied careers, working as a fabricator, a welder, and a taxi cab driver in Arizona. Most recently, he had worked for Boeing in Everett for 12 years. He once worked as a commercial fisherman in Alaska, barely surviving when the boat sank.

With his "I can do it" attitude, JD built two homes, beginning with clearing the land to putting on the finishing touches. In his leisure time, JD loved to play the blues on his guitar.

JD leaves behind his four children, Melany (21), Alexis (14), Mariah (13), and Becky (8), as well as one beautiful granddaughter, Amanda (3 weeks). Other family members include his mother Bessie Odegard, stepfather Ben Odegard, brother Marc (Oneita), and sister Linda (Bob) Martin, as well as nieces and nephews. JD was married to Misty for 16 years.

His father Dock Owenby preceded him in death in 1997.

JD will be greatly missed for his smile, his dry sense of humor and his "appreciation and pursuit of a good deal."

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2003 from 9:00am until 5:00pm at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy. The Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at 2:00pm at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the memorials may be made to Families & Friends of Violent Crimes on behalf of JD's daughters, P.O. Box 1949, Everett, WA 98206.

John (Jack) W. Rosenfield

John (Jack) W. Rosenfield, 79, of Marysville, WA, died August 18, 2003 at Swedish Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Rosenfield was born June 8, 1924 in Seattle. He served in the Navy from 1944-1947, was a yacht salesman, pilot, Seafair Pirate, and member of the Edmonds Yacht Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Hernandez (Jim); granddaughter, Rhiannon; his sister, Betty Bryson; and partner, Margaret Oswald.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Swedish Cancer Institute, Seattle. A celebration of his life will be held from 2:00-6:00pm at his residence on Sunday, August 24th.

Katherine (Salo) Estes

Katherine Cheryl Estes, beloved wife of Curtis died August 14, 2003 with her family by her side.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Lake Stevens, WA.

Richard R. Swaffield

Richard, born September 23, 1938 in Missoula, MT, passed away August 16, 2003 in Tacoma, WA at the age of 64.

Richard is survived by Todd Swaffield, Tresa Metal, Terrell Campen, Jeanine Mehran, Laura Hamontree, Eleanor Erickson, Robert Swaffield, and Nancy Swaffield; and 13 grandchildren.

Memorial Service Saturday, August 23, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial, 16445 Pacific Hwy. S. SeaTac.

Tim Raymond Bode

Tim Raymond Bode passed away on August 19, 2003 at home surrounded by his family.

Tim was born on February 15, 1949 to Gerrit and Ruth (VanderKooi) Bode. Tim grew up in Lynden and attended Lynden Schools. He excelled academically and was involved with leadership. After high school Tim attended and graduated with honors from the University of Washington. He worked for Puget Sound Energy for 32 years. Tim had a passion for golf and traveled with his wife Meribeth to many golf resorts.

Tim loved being a grandfather and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Tim is survived by his wife Meribeth. Children: Sally and husband Tim Gasper, their children: Justin, Samantha, Dillon, Serena, Quinton. Kara and husband Matt Johnson, and their daughter Lauren. Michael; Cory Hutchings and wife Ashley with twin grandchildren on the way. Sister Carole Bode. Brothers, Gerry, Dan, Dave and Karl Bode. Numerous other relatives.

Memorial service will be held at Atonement Free Lutheran Church, 6905 172nd Street, N.E., Arlington, WA. (360) 435-9191 on Friday August 22nd at 12:00 noon.

Walter H. Sprague

1931 - 2003

Walter H. Sprague was born and raised in Seattle, the grandson of Seattle Pioneer families, Peacock and Scott.

He had a 40 year career in retail and wholesale until retiring in 1995, was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and lifetime member of the Oak Harbor Elks.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; son, Doren (Susan); daughters, Cheryl (Al), Leah (Mike), Nola (Dan); eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Betty; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; extended family members and many loving friends. Walt touched all who met him and he was ready to go home to be with his Lord and Saviour.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2003 at 2:00pm at the Port Susan Camping Club Chapel, 12015 Marine Drive, Marysville, WA, 360-652-7520.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Children's Orthopedic Cancer Center, Seattle.

William L. Strom

William L. Strom, born July 15, 1945, died July 12, 2003 in Seattle, WA.

Mr. Strom was a native son of Everett, WA, raised in (Pinehurst) south Everett, and attended Everett schools. Upon graduation Mr. Strom enlisted in the U.S. Army 101st Infantry Air Division and served his tours of Vietnam with pride and purpose. He received many medals including the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 96 and the VFW Post 9430. Our family proudly salutes and honors him and all the veterans who have served their country proudly. Upon discharge from the service, he was employed by the Burlington-Northern Railroad. He retired from the railroad as his father and grandfather before him. He was an avid Husky fan.

Mr. Strom is survived by his loving wife, Marta, and the joy of his life, his children, Michele Walker of Snohomish, Joel Strom of Everett, and Antonio, Sebastian and baby Pilar of Seattle, loving brother of Paula R. Arnold of Seattle, Ruth D. Morgan of Mill Creek, seven grandchildren, seven nieces and nephews and extended family and friends in Everett, Seattle and Costa Rica, and best friend and buddy (since childhood) Mr. Kyle Greenwood of Everett.

Mr. Strom was preceded in death by his parents, A.W. Strom, Doris M. Des Rosier and stepfather, W.J. (JACK IN THE BOX) Des Rosier and his beloved sister Sharon M. Gilbert.

Interment services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2003 at 12:30 p.m. at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, 1615 S.E. Everett Mall Way, Everett, WA. "Go Huskies!"

Ruth H. (Sprague) Bunney

Born September, 1918 in Minot, ND and passed away August 15, 2003 in a local nursing facility. She was preceded in death by her husband David in 1984. Ruth and David came to Washington State in 1938 and settled in Everett in 1944.

Ruth was active in the First Baptist Church of Everett and the YMCA for many years.

She is survived by a son, James Bunney, a daughter, Yvonne Corey, 5 grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Roy and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Everett Rehab and Care Center for the dedicated care given to our Mother.

A memorial service will be held on August 29th at 2:00pm at The First Baptist Church of Everett, at 1616 Pacific Ave.

Terry Lee Fagan

Terry Lee Fagan, 48, of Marysville, died August 15, 2003 of natural causes.

He was born November 22, 1954 in Everett and lived in Marysville his entire life. Terry graduated from Marysville High School in 1974 and he worked in construction in Alaska, the east coast and locally. He was an outdoorsman and loved to fish, hunt and camp, particularly with his family.

He leaves three children, Jason (Jodi), Tim, and Jackie (Daniel); his mother Pearl Fagan; grandson Austin; three brothers, Mike, Pat, and Chris Fagan; and also his dog "'Bud".

He was preceded in death by his father, Allen, in 1990.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2003 at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Marysville Cemetery.

Zina Ristig

Zina Ristig, age 75, of Lynnwood, WA, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died August 16, 2003. She was born October 16, 1927 in Japan.

She is survived by her brother Constantine Kashilof; sons Mike, Mark and Donald; grandchildren James, Alexandra, Meghan, Molly and Emily. Her family and friends will miss her immensely.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills in Lynnwood.

Ryan Stephen Burke

Ryan Stephen Burke, the beloved son of Rick Burke and Sandi Rohrich, died unexpectedly in his home in the early morning of July 29, 2003, one month before his 24th birthday.

He was born August 29, 1979 at the Everett General Hospital "a joyous day."

He leaves his loving grandparents Vicki Imholt, Merle and Tillie Burke and Al Lee; his loving Great Aunts Alice, Evelyn, and Marilyn and Great Uncle Rae; Aunts and Uncles Chuck, Alene, Dyan and Joe and Joan and Jack; many cousins; good friends; and long time companion Suzana Edens. He also leaves behind Susie Stephens and her son Tony and Will Rohrich.

"A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his mind is a craftsman; a man who works with his hands, his mind and his heart is an artist." Ryan was an artist.

A Memorial Celebration of his life will be held at Everett Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2100, 2711 Oaks Avenue in Everett on August 9, 2003 at 2:00pm.

Lorraine Elizabeth Karbee

Lorraine Elizabeth Karbee, 95, passed away July 29, 2003 at Everett Rehab.

Predeceased by her husband, Otto Karbbe, she is survived by her daughter, Patricia Karbbe of Everett and three grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2nd at Wiggen & Sons Chapel, 2003 N.W. 57th in Seattle. Her final resting place will be next to her husband at Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery.

Pauline (Moffat) Fagan

Pauline (Moffat) Fagan, 72, of Everett, WA, passed away peacefully July 24, 2003 after a brief battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband Raymond; and children, Emily Moran, Shawn Fagan and Julie Witte. Pauline was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Polly enjoyed traveling and favored Mazatlan.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1st at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, 1615 SE Everett Mall Way. A potluck gathering planned by Polly and Ray's many friends will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2100, 2711 Oaks Avenue.

Arrangements are under the care of Solie Funeral Home.
