La Donna Muriel Drennon
On Saturday, March 22, 2003, La Donna Muriel Drennon, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend was carried home in the loving arms of Jesus to join her husband Gerrald.
She was born in Monroe, WA on March 9, 1915. Following graduation from Monroe High School she married her teenage sweetheart Gerrald Drennon of Snohomish. He preceded her in death after 62 years of marriage, the majority of which was spent on the Pleasant Hill Berry Farm located on the Old Snohomish Monroe Road.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Jo Dolquist and son-in-law Dean; daughter Carolyn Janssen and son-in-law Klaus; six grandchildren, Jeff Fox, Tim Fox (Rachelle), Karra Fox Wesley (Rhandy), Nichole Janssen Strande (Jon), Keith Janssen (Liz), and Katy Jo Fox. Her five great grandchildren are Ryan Fox, Christopher Wesley, Travis Fox, Hayden Strande, and Ethan Janssen.
La Donna was an active member of the Snohomish United Methodist Church since 1947 and a founding member of the Pleasant Hill Homemaker's Club. La Donna was buried during a private ceremony on March 29th at the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Monroe.
Her memorial service is scheduled for Sunday April 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the Snohomish United Methodist Church, 6202 99th Ave SE, 360-568-5755.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in La Donna's name to the Snohomish United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
Laurence Gaylen "Larry" White
Larry White, of Monroe, age 52, died peacefully at home with his family after struggling with cancer, on April 3, 2003.
He was born to Ben and Charlotte White on December 8, 1950. He graduated from Monroe High School, as did his mother and grandmother. As a young graduate of Renton Vo-Tech, with a degree in Automotive Mechanics, he began a twenty-three year career with U.S. West, then Pacific Northwest Bell, as an automotive specialist. He retired as a real estate property manager. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree from City University.
Upon his retirement, Larry was able to achieve is dream of establishing his own business, which he named Mountain View Enterprises in honor of his grandfather's local dairy established in the 1920's. His business is known in Monroe as Texaco Express Lube, where he demonstrated his personal characteristics of integrity, hard work, perseverance and generosity.
He enjoyed and took pride in his family. He touched each one's life from the youngest to oldest, by his willingness to help in any way he could, from fixing an old car or helping with a remodel. When not helping family, he could often be found tinkering in his yard or on his home. Some of his best remembered times were steelhead fishing with his brother and brothers-in-law. His favorite family outings were crabbing and clam digging, along with relaxing at the ocean beaches.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Barbara; daughter, Jeralyn Landers; son-in-law, Aric; and granddaughters, Kaylee and Karlee; brother, Garold (Gary) White of Jacksonville, AR; and sister, Susan White of Lawrence, KS; Cecilia Smith, mother-in-law; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Charlotte White, and Lee Smith, his father-in-law.
To celebrate Larry's life, a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003, at Purdy and Kerr Funeral Home, 409 W. Main Street, Monroe.
Memorials may be made to Children's Orthopedic Hospital, in lieu of flowers.
Loretta Jean Watt
Loretta Jean Watt, born October 1,1931 in Oswego, KS, entered into Paradise April 3,2003 in Everett.
Loretta married Ralph E Watt November 1949 in Tacoma. The family moved to Renton in 1951 and in 1979 they moved to Everett. Memberships include Everett Bible Baptist Church, Forever Young Group, involved with Over Seas Ministry and the Renton PTA. Loretta retired in 1987 after 21 years as a clinic assistant with Group Health. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, crocheting, traveling, playing the organ, and collecting antiques-glassware. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren and her family.
She is survived by husband Ralph Watt of Everett; daughters Sharyl Macomber of Renton, Deborah Twitchell of Everett, Valerie Martin of Federal Way, and Beverly Stinde of Covington; mother Valma Faye Weiss of Everett; brother John Weiss of Kent; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday April 5th from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. with funeral services on Monday at 10:00 a.m., both at Greenwood Funeral Home in Renton with burial at Greenwood Memorial Park.

Maxine Margaret Fadden
Maxine Margaret Fadden, 73, of Startup, WA died April 3, 2003 in Startup.
She was born July 18, 1929 in Startup and lived there her entire life. She married Aaron Fadden on December 8, 1946 in Sultan. They had two children, Mike and Lynn, whom she adored. Maxine worked for Roesler Timber Co. in the shake and shingle mill for many years. Aaron and Maxine started their own shake mill, Twin Cedar Shakes, in the 1970's and were in business about 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going to lunch and dinner with friends, working on her yard, reading, watching football and Mariner's games. She will be missed by family and friends......whose lives she touched.
For over 25 years, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Cascade Aerie 2327 of Monroe, WA.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron; her sister, Evelyn Hill; and her father, Jake Walcker.
Survivors include her mother, Maggie Walcker of Startup, WA; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Dana Fadden of Sultan; daughter, Lynnette Tjepkema of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren, Christopher and Joanie Fadden of Sultan, David and Colleen Fadden of Monroe, WA, Aaron Tjepkema and Larisa Wonhoff of Monroe, Joseph Tjepkema of Monroe; and great granddaughter Taylor Fadden of Monroe.
Services will be held at Purdy & Kerr Funeral Home, Monroe, WA 98272 on Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at 11:00 a.m.

Tracy Edward Lynn
Surrounded by his family, Tracy Lynn passed away peacefully March 30, 2003 following a short illness.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louise; his daughters Linda, Peggy, Julie, and Marjory; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Tracy was born October 16, 1915 in Ottowa, IL, one of six siblings. Following high school graduation, Tracy came to Washington to help build Ross Dam on the upper Skagit River. Just prior to the outbreak of World War II, Tracy was drafted and assigned to the 153rd Combat Engineers Battalion. For the next two-and-a-half years, Tracy helped build airfields, communication facilities, and military housing in the Aleutian Islands. Returning to the lower 48 in 1944, Tracy married Louise, in Detroit, MI on July 4. Tracy's unit was then reassigned to the European Theater and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.
At the end of the war, Tracy chose to give up his hard-won sergeant's stripes in favor of a quicker return stateside to his wife. After a short stay in Detroit, Tracy and Louise moved to Everett in the fall of 1945. Tracy worked many years at a variety of trades ranging from chain hand at the Marysville Shake Company to bridge and building construction for Great Northern to carpenter at the Seattle Naval Supply Depot.
An enthusiastic and skilled bowler, Tracy also supported youth baseball, financing equipment from his own pocket when funds ran short. Tracy enjoyed family life and could always be counted on to take the neighborhood kids for ice cream. He was a member of Everett Eagles F.O.E. 13, VFW Post 2100, and American Legion Post #6. In later years, Tracy was a frequent visitor to the Everett Senior Center where he donated many hours of service, greatly enjoyed the social activities, and proved a master at bingo.
Tracy will be greatly missed by his friends and family. At Tracy's request, no services will be held.

The family would particularly like to thank Bethany and Hospice of Snohomish County for making Tracy's last months pleasant.
Vern Casper Bendixsen
Vern C. Bendixsen, age 85 passed away peacefully at his son's home in Walla Walla with his family at this side on April, 4, 2003.
He was born August 27, 1917 in Alexander ID. He served in the Philippines in the US army during World War II. He had a successful career as a Furniture Manufacture Representative. After retiring in 1986, Vern and his wife Genevieve spent time traveling throughout the country in their motor home.
Family, traveling and church service were his main enjoyments.
He is survived by his daughter Kristen Bendixsen; son Dennis (Lanette) Bendixsen; two sisters; three brothers; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Woods Funeral Home, Idaho Falls, ID. Interment will follow at Fielding Memorial Cemetery.
Virginia M. Howard
Virginia M. Howard, 78, of Ephrata, WA passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at her home.
She was born on December 9, 1924 to Mathias and Alta (Metcalf) Quint in Hollywood, CA. She moved to Idaho as a small child attending school and graduating from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1943. She married Albert L. Howard on April 17, 1943 in Coeur d'Alene, ID. They moved to Darrington in 1945. Virginia worked at the post office for 10 years retiring and becoming a snowbird in Arizona. They moved to Coulee City, WA in 1987. She has resided at the Basin Retirement Home in Ephrata for the past six years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, in August, 2001; and by one daughter.
Virginia is survived by sons, James Howard of Coulee City, WA, and Jarold Howard of Camano Island, WA; sister Evelyn Schaffer of Coeur d'Alene, ID; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
At her request there will be no memorial services.

Donald B. Dukes
Donald B. Dukes, of Snohomish, passed away March 31, 2003. He was 76.
A native of Duster, TX, Mr. Dukes served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by daughter Debra Watson of Bothell; sons Bruce Dukes of Washtucna, Michael Dukes of Everett; sister Jean Bennett of Hobbs, NM; grandchildren Stephen, Aaron, Bryan, Kevin, Darren, Caelin, and Shane; and great granddaughters Kylee and Hannah.
The Graveside Service will be held Monday, April 7, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Floral Hills Cemetery, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, 425-672-1800.

Donald L. Shields
Donald Lewis "Boots" Shields, 92, of Marysville, WA, passed away March 31, 2003 at the family home in Marysville.
Don was born in Elk, WA on October 6, 1910. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed activities such as hunting. He was also a retired boilermaker from Local Union 104.
Beloved husband of 60 years, Don is survived by his wife, Olivia Shields; their children, Cookie Shields of Los Angeles, CA, Richard Shields and daughter-in-law Karen Shields of Everett; brother, Archie Lee Shields of Seattle; niece, Irene Cressell of Everett; grandchildren, Tennille Shields of Seattle, Tracey Goodson of Los Angeles, CA, and Andrea Rairdin of Everett; and great-granddaughter, Isabella Goodson of Los Angeles, CA.
A wonderful husband, father and grandfather, Don will be sincerely missed by his family. Some people come into our lives and quickly go, some stay awhile, leave footprints on our hearts and we are never, ever the same.
At his request, no services will be held.

Dorothea M. Pilcher
Dorothea M. Pilcher, went home to be with our Lord on April 4, 2003, at the age of 83. Born to Henry and Maradie Williamson on September 20, 1919, in Big Timber, MT., the family moved to Ogden, UT in 1921. She married Robert A. Pilcher, C.S.C., Navy, Salt Lake City, UT in 1949. She was a dedicated wife and mother. He many occupations were; cannery worker, seamstress, working on airplanes at Hill A.F.B during WWII, and baker/caterer in Chicago. She volunteered for Red Cross and was a Girl Scout Leader; a member of Eastern Star and Women's VFW Aux.
She was preceded by her husband, Robert in 1964. She is survived by her three daughters; Vickie Harbeck, Connie Desrosier and Roberta Stumpf. Dorothea lived in Everett many years, later living at Granite Falls Villiage Ret.
There will be a celebration of her life at Solie Funeral Home, 3301 Colby Ave, Everett, on Wednesday, April 9th at 11:00am with a graveside to follow at Cypress Lawn. Following, the family will gather at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2913 W. Marine View Dr, Everett.
D. Peter Smith
D. Peter Smith of Lynnwood WA, age 69, died of cardiac arrest on March 21, 2003.
He was born August 26, 1933 in LeSuer, MN. Pete graduated from LeSuer High School. He proudly worked for Boeing in aerospace for 33 years and retired in 1991. He belonged to the Rifleman Association and helped build the gun club by serving on the Marysville board. He was a longtime member of the Goldwing Touring Association, Chapter X. He enjoyed hunting for 50 years in Eastern Washington and the Williby Hills. His favorite place was John's Auto Service 212th & 52nd Ave. W., Lynnwood, where Pete enjoyed seeing John and many dear friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Sheila (Hunter) and great grandson, Daniel Gillis at home; four sons, Kevin & Craig of Washington State, Bill (Amber) of Wisconsin, Rocky (Dina) of Minnesota; daughter, Tracy Young of Moses Lake, WA; step-daughters, Jean Harrington, of Spokane WA, Cathy Harrington of Edmonds, WA; brothers, Kenneth Jr. (Pearl), James (Dorothy), and Jack (Rosie) of LeSuer MN, and Tommy (Cindy) LeCenter MN; sisters, Judy (Andy) Puttin, Dorothy Ann (Mike) Barron, and Susan (Dan) Otting of LeSuer, MN; aunts, Gladys Huberty of Minessota, and Lauralee Jurgens of California; grandchildren, Chuck & Kenny Smith of Wisconsin, Russell Smith, Jason (Lindsey) Young, Sara (Jeff) Holmes, Jeanna Cameron, Jennifer (Mathew) Dexter, all of Washington; six great grandchildren; and numerous cousins and beloved nephews and nieces in Minnesota.

Henry Peter Zaleski
Henry Peter Zaleski of Monroe, WA passed away on March 20, 203 in his sleep at the age of 70.
His sons John and James Zaleski, and William Boggs and his daughter Gloria Jean (Suzanne) Andrews, survive him. All those who loved him and knew him including his many grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family, will remember him.
No services will be held, however a Mass will be said in his name at St. Mary of the Valley Catholic Church in Monroe, WA.
John W. Moriarty "Pat"
John W. Moriarty, "Pat", age 79, of Arlington, passed away peacefully in his home on April 4, 2003. Pat was born in Enumclaw on March 28, 1924. He met and married his loving wife Rosemyrl "Rosie" in Buckley. They had been married for 55 years.
Pat served his country as a Navy Seaman in the South Pacific during World War II. He belonged to the Operating Engineers Union for over 60 years.
He loved to run equipment and even built some of the roads in the Washington area.
He is survived by his wife Rosie; six children; Wanda (Marc) Marquiss, Marjorie (Jerry) Carlson, Colin (Annie) Moriarty, Carl (Colleen) Moriarty, Tracy (Jay) Clowe, Tina Moriarty; eight grandchildren Shaun, Monica, Angie, Cassidy, Chayanne, Johnathon, Bryce, Ciara, Duane, and spouses; eight great-grandchildren.
We also want to express our love and thanks to Bev for her loving help.
He was a wonderful, loving husband and father. He loved to laugh and tell jokes.
At his request, no services will be held. The family request that in lieu of flowers, that any remembrances be sent to Hospice of Snohomish County or to The American Cancer Society.
Pat will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

LaVerne Kvilhaug
LaVerne Kvilhaug passed away April 3, 2003 at the age of 92, surrounded by her family.
She was born May 31, 1910 in Miami, OK. She spent most of her life in the Seattle area. In the 1950's she and her first husband owned the Sugar Bowl in White Center. LaVerne moved to Snohomish in 1997 to be closer to her nephew and his family.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Jack Miller in 1965; and second husband Andy Kvilhaug in 1984.
LaVerne is survived by her nephew Mike Myers and wife Rosie of Snohomish; great niece Patrice and husband Ron Wenz and their four daughters of Marysville; great niece Shelley Myers of Snohomish; great nephew Josh Myers of Snohomish; niece Vicky and husband Vic Franklin and their two children, all of Illinois; step daughter Joyce and husband Richard Carter and their sons Dan and Glenn Carter of Montana. She also leaves special friend Michael Hickey of Snohomish; and many other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish.
