Norene McMicken
April 18, 1909 -- Oct. 5, 2002
Norene McMicken died in Sequim at age 93.
She was born in Childress County, Texas, the fifth of 10 children of Lee and Lella (Beckum) Gardner.
She married Marshall Sexton in Fort Worth, Texas, on Dec. 20, 1924. They were divorced.
On Jan. 17, 1933, she married James Douglas McMicken in Wharton, Texas. He died in 1964.
Mrs. McMicken lived most of her life in Texas and first came to Sequim in 1989. She returned to Texas in 1996 to be near her daughter, who preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 2000.
Mrs. McMicken returned to Sequim in 2001.
Survivors include son M.L. Sexton of Sequim; son-in-law Lee Franz of LaPorte, Texas; one brother; two sisters; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services: At her request, no services. Inurnment will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Lindale, Texas. Drennan & Ford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Alice J. Wilson
March 13, 1903 -- Oct. 6, 2002
Port Angeles resident Alice J. Wilson died at age 99.
She was born in Minneota, Minn., to Frank and Sarah (Anderson) Johnson.
She married Wilfred V. Wilson in Seattle in 1933.
Mrs. Wilson lived in Port Angeles for the past six years.
Survivors include nephews John B. Pearce of Port Angeles, Richard Pearce of Port Alberni, British Columbia, and Gerald Johnson of Folsom, Calif.; niece Phyllis Phillbrick of San Jose, Calif.; and numerous great and great-great-grandnieces and nephews.
Services: Oct. 11, 2002 at 1 p.m., memorial at Independent Bible Church, 116 E. Ahlvers Road, Port Angeles; Saturday, Oct. 12, noon to 6 p.m., reception at 775 Freshwater Park, Port Angeles. Drennan & Ford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Frank McKnight
Feb. 17, 1949 -- Oct. 6, 2002
Former Port Angeles resident Frank McKnight died in Vancouver, Wash., after a 10-month battle with cancer. He was 53.
He was born in Greensboro, N.C., to Otis Worth and Lucy Evelyn (Gilbert) McKnight.
Mr. McKnight served in the Army from 1968 to 1971, with duty in Germany and Vietnam.
He worked for many years in Port Angeles as a concrete finisher. He worked for Cliff Brehan for six years and Brian Anderson for two years, then as an independent contractor before moving to Vancouver.
Mr. McKnight was a dedicated fisherman, entering the annual Salmon Derby several times.
Survivors include daughter Katie McKnight, parents Lucy and Fred Ordona, and brothers Pete McKnight and Roland Ordona, all of Port Angeles; brothers Steve McKnight of Ontario, Calif., and Butch Ordona of Oak Harbor; sister Lena Robinson of Covina, Calif.; and companion of six years, Juanita Beck of Vancouver.
Services: Friday, Oct. 11, 1 p.m. memorial at Independent Bible Church, 116 E. Ahlvers Road, Port Angeles; Saturday, Oct. 12, 6 p.m. reception at 775 Freshwater Park, Port Angeles. Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Vancouver, Wash., was in charge of arrangements.
Harry E. Ruhs
Dec. 15, 1915 -- Sept. 20, 2002
Harry E. Ruhs of Port Angeles died of heart failure at age 86.
He was born in Audubon, Iowa, to Ed C. and Mabel (Brockway) Ruhs. He graduated from Audubon High School in 1933.
He married Leota B. Smith on Feb. 27, 1935, in Maryville, Mo.
The couple lived in Carrol, Iowa, until 1943, then moved to Spokane, where Mr. Ruhs worked as a truck driver and dock foreman for Consolidated Freightways for 37 years. After his retirement in 1978, they moved to Mesa, Ariz., traveling during summer months with their travel trailer.
They moved in November 1998 to be near family --first in Monterra and then at St. Andrew's Assisted Living Center in Port Angeles.
Mr. Ruhs was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Mesa, Ariz., and the Good Sam RV Club and the Silver Streak Trailer Club in Sequim. He served for 27 years with the Country Homes Volunteer Fire Department in Spokane.
He enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his wife, Leota, and son Marvin J. Ruhs, both of Port Angeles; daughter Marlene Gahringer of Spokane; brother Carl Ruhs of Spokane; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mike Hill, in 1983.
Services: Saturday, Oct. 12, 2 p.m. memorial service at St. Andrew's Assisted Living, 520 E. Park Ave., Port Angeles, with Randy Hurlbutt officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Memorial Park, Spokane. Drennan & Ford Funeral Home is in charge.

Marjorie Jane Treglown
Feb. 9, 1925 -- Oct. 6, 2002
Marjorie Jane Treglown, 77, of Joyce died at Olympic Memorial Hospital after a 36-year battle against multiple sclerosis.
She was born in Burwell, Neb., to Archibald Jesse and Amelia Virginia (Snyder) Bangert. After graduating from high school in Burwell, she moved to Seattle to work in the shipyards as an electrician's assistant during World War II.
She continued working on Seattle's waterfront and city offices until her marriage to Jack Frederick Treglown on Jan. 28, 1951, in Mount Vernon. The couple divorced in 2000.
Mrs. Treglown worked for Frederick and Nelson's department store for many years, and after her diagnosis with MS in 1966, continued her interest in history, music and Democratic Party causes.
She moved to Joyce in January 2002 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Gay and Craig Knutson.
In addition to the Knutsons, she is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Ben Bohy of Broken Bow, Neb., and two grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bangert.
Services: None, in accordance with her wishes. Port Angeles Cremation Association was in charge of cremation.
Linda Mingoy Vorhies
Aug. 28, 1963 -- Oct. 7, 2002
Sequim resident Linda Mingoy Vorhies died of stomach cancer at age 39.
She was born in Baleno Masbate, Philippines, to Luciano F. and Bienvenida Arado (Verano) Mingoy.
Raised in the Philippines, she moved to Sequim in October 1989. She was a cook at the Riptide Restaurant in Sequim for 12 years.
On Oct. 2, 1999, she married Norman Vorhies in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where she was a member.
Survivors include her husband, son Austin Donald Vorhies, mother, brothers Reuben and Eduardo Mingoy and sisters Myrna Hermosada and Emily Tolbero, all of Sequim; brother Luciano Mingoy of Manila, Philippines; and sisters Ave Mingoy Monteroyo of Manila and Evelyn Mingoy Morgan of Port Angeles.
Services: Friday, Oct. 11, 9 a.m. to noon, visitation at Sequim Valley Chapel, 108 W. Alder St., Sequim, immediately followed by memorial at the same location. The Rev. Thomas Beattie will officiate. Burial at Mount Angeles Cemetery.

John Richard Kittleson
July 4, 1933 --Oct. 9, 2002
John Richard Kittleson died of cancer in his Sequim home. He was 69.
He was born in Moorhead, Minn., to Theodore and Lenora (Rasmussen) Kittleson.
After serving with the Army in 1953-1955, Mr. Kittleson was a television film producer and director for NBC in Burbank, Calif., before moving to Sequim in 1990.
He was a volunteer with youth organizations, particularly Boy Scouts of America, and was an officer in the Elks Lodge in Sequim. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fourth Degree with Knights of Columbus, and belonged to the Greywolf School board advisory committee.
Mr. Kittleson enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On Sept. 12, 1964, he married Mary Kay Savageau, who survives him.
Other survivors include son John William Kittleson of Corona del Mar, Calif.; daughters Diane Marie Totten of Saugus, Calif., and Karen Sue Helbert of Phoenix; brother Ted Kittleson of Vancouver, Wash.; sister Grace Larson of Bloomington, Ind.; and five grandchildren.
Services: Saturday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m., funeral liturgy in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim. The Rev. Thomas Beattie will preside. Drennan & Ford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Omer V. Richardson
June 17, 1917 -- Oct. 7, 2002
Port Townsend resident Omer V. Richardson died at age 85.
He was born to Victor M. and Manie (Cordell) Richardson in Orofino, Idaho, where he married Nadine Lamont in 1947.
During World War II, Mr. Richardson served in the Navy as a machinist's mate in 1942-45.
He was a carpenter and cattle rancher until he retired in 1972 and moved to Port Townsend.
Camping and fishing were among his pastimes.
Mr. Richardson is survived by sons Vic of Marysville and Mike of Lenore, Idaho; daughter Cathy Bunce of Medford, Ore.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Richardson's brother, Lloyd, preceded him in death.
Services: Monday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m., graveside service in Riverside Cemetery, Orofino, Idaho. Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge of arrangements.
Wilma Lorraine Fink
Sept. 3, 1928 -- Nov. 6, 2002
Wilma Lorraine Fink of Sequim died of cancer in Olympic Medical Center, Port Angeles. She was 74.
She was born in Freeport, Ill., to Williard Bright and Neva Marie (Garrison) Fink.
Miss Fink was an alumna of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and a missionary in Thailand for 30 years with Overseas Missionary Fellowship.
She was a member of Sequim Community Evangelical Free Church.
She is survived by brother Lowell Fink and sister Ruth McAlpin, both of Sequim, and sister Charlotte McClure of Silverdale.
Services: Sunday, Nov. 17, at 3 p.m., memorial in Sequim Community Evangelical Free Church, 921 E. Hammond St. Pastor John MacArthur will officiate. Burial will be in Sequim View Cemetery. Sequim Valley Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

George F. Foster
March 23, 1929 -- Nov. 5, 2002
George F. Foster of Port Angeles died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at age 73.
He was born to George Walter and Rose Pearl (Hollywood) Foster in Seattle, where he graduated from Lincoln High School.
He served in the Marine Corps for 24 years, retiring as a master sergeant.
He lived in Port Angeles for the past seven years.
Mr. Foster enjoyed working crossword puzzles, gardening and fishing.
He was a member of Sequim Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4760.
Survivors include sons Jeffery of New Jersey and Mark of Auburn; sisters Dolores Armijo of California and Claudia Gregory of Brinnon; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and a daughter, Susan Foster.
Services: Monday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m., memorial in Drennan & Ford Funeral Home, 260 Monroe Road, Port Angeles, with Chaplain Winston DeHaven officiating.
Murray James Kotas
Aug. 13, 1946 -- Nov. 4, 2002
Murray James Kotas died while asleep in his Sequim home at age 56. Cause of death is pending.
He was born to Joseph and Muriel (Hogan) Kotas in Port Alberni, British Columbia.
He married Darlene Church in Tacoma on Jan. 8, 1966.
Mrs. Kotas moved from Tacoma to Sequim in 1972 and established Kotas Construction.
In addition to coaching his son in youth soccer and Little League baseball, he supported his daughter's showing of quarterhorses on the national circuit, loved restoring old hot rods and was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, son Bob and daughter Christine, all of Sequim; mother; brother Terry Kotas and sister Brenda Hiner, all of Tacoma; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
Services: Monday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m., memorial in Dungeness Community Church, 42 Eberle Lane. Pastor Neil Smith will officiate, and a reception in the church will immediately follow the service. Drennan & Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.
Irene E. Lease
April 22, 1909 -- Nov. 6, 2002
Irene E. Lease of Port Angeles died at age 93.
She was born to Pete and Elsie (Jordan) Petit in Port Angeles, where she graduated from high school in 1927.
She married her high school sweetheart, Harry G. Lease, on July 7, 1932.
The Leases lived in British Columbia, Eastern Washington and Oregon before returning to Port Angeles in 1988.
Mrs. Lease was a member of Queen of Angels Roman Catholic Church.
She was an avid collector of buttons -- active in local, state and national button associations -- and also enjoyed weaving and quilting.
She is survived by nieces Betty Hendricks, Linda Bougie and Jean Heessels-Petit, all of Port Angeles. Her husband of 66 years died in August 1998.
Services: Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 1 p.m., graveside in Ocean View Cemetery, 3127 W. 18th St., Port Angeles with Father Kurt Nagel of Queen of Angels Catholic Church officiating. Entombment will be at Ocean View Cemetery Mausoleum. Drennan & Ford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
