Betty Gene Bos, 86, of Sunnyside died Saturday in Grandview. Mrs. Bos was born and raised in Sunnyside.

Survivors include her husband, Don Bos; four children, Sue Clapp, Stan Bos and Tom Bos, all of Sunnyside, and Glen Bos of Yakima; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Christian Reformed Church. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home of Sunnyside.

Maria Hernandez-Manjares
Announcement dated May 19, 2010
Maria Hernandez-Manjares, 73, of Yakima died Monday in Wapato. Mrs. Hernandez-Manjares was born in Michoacan, Mexico. She was an in-home care provider for several years in California before moving to Yakima in 1993.

Survivors include a daughter, Maria C. Alcala of Yakima; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and Thursday at Keith and Keith Funeral Home. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, also at Keith and Keith. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial to follow in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Mildred R. Nichols

Mildred Ruth Nichols, 89, of McMinnville, Ore., died Thursday at Life Care Center.

Mrs. Nichols was born in Bruno, Ark. She worked as a clerk in Yakima retail stores.

Survivors include four children, Jimmy Nichols, Dennis Nichols, Crystal Sears and Gwen Savdall.

Memorial services are pending. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Edwin C. Hardt

Edwin C. Hardt, 100, of Baker City, Ore., died Monday at Settlers Park Assisted Living.

Mr. Hardt was born in La Center, Wash.

Survivors include two sons, Edwin Leon Hardt of Baker City and Robert Leroy Hardt of Keno, Ore.; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Ellenor A. Donovan
Announcement dated May 19, 2010
Ellenor A. Donovan, 91, of Ellensburg died Saturday at Royal Vista Care Center. Mrs. Donovan was born in Yakima and lived and worked in various areas prior to retirement a number of years ago. She worked for the City of Yakima and the Bon Marche. In Seattle she was employed by the State of Washington. In 2003 she moved to Ellensburg from Mesa, Ariz.

Survivors include a son and two daughters.

Private family services will be held. Inurnment will be in the family plot in Tahoma Cemetery, Yakima. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.

Margaret L. Hocker
Announcement dated May 19, 2010
Margaret L. Hocker, 96, of Yakima died Monday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hocker was born in Helix, Ore., and moved to Yakima when she was six. She had also lived in California and Arizona while her husband served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Survivors include three daughters, Marilynne Brown of Bellevue, Kathryn Keith of Yakima and Jill Eader of Seattle; two sisters, Norman Shulda of Clatskanie, Ore., and Cynthia Trueblood of Bellevue; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Keith and Keith Terrace Heights Chapel.

Stella S. Pardo
Announcement dated May 19, 2010
Stella S. Pardo, 78, of Wapato died Sunday at home. Mrs. Pardo was born in Edinburg, Texas, and moved to the Yakima Valley in 1946. She worked as a laborer for numerous packing plants and for Del Monte. In 1977 she and her husband started Pardo's Stop and Shop Market, retiring in 1992.

Survivors include her husband, Cruz of Wapato; two sons, Richard and Bob Pardo of Wapato; two daughters, Cindi Tranmer of Renton and Nora Pardo of Seattle; a brother, Hector Esparza of San Leandro, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, with recitation of the Rosary following at 7 p.m., at Resurrection Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the church with interment to follow in the Zillah City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

Mary R. Johnson

Mary Ruth Johnson, 59, of Yakima died Thursday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Johnson was born in Yakima. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three children, Bobby Denend, Lisa Denend and Kimberly Hall, all of Yakima; her companion, Tim McCrory of Yakima; three sisters, Jo Ann Jenkins and Debi Stoneking of Lynnwood, Wash., and Cheryl Bennett of Yakima; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services are pending. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Trenton M. Mateo

Trenton Michael Alexander Mateo, infant son of Justin and Sharon Mateo of Yakima, died Tuesday at Children's Hospital in Seattle. Trenton was born Feb. 8.

Besides his parents, survivors include two brothers, Justin James Mateo and Christopher Mateo, both of Yakima; his grandparents, Dan and Cindy Stone of Yakima, and John Bozick and Kathleen Bozick Mateo of Union Gap; and great-grandparents, Jim and Fay Davenport of Union Gap.

Services are pending. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Audelino Sandoval Barajas

Audelino Sandoval Barajas, 43, of Mattawa died Tuesday in Sherman County, Ore. Mr. Barajas was born in Mexico. He worked as a farm laborer.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Sandoval; three sons, Gustavo Sandoval, Armando Sandoval and Audelino Sandoval; three daughters, Jennifer Sandoval, Tatiana Sandoval and Elisabeth Berenize Sandoval; his father, Fidel Sandoval; his mother, Guadalupe Sandoval; eight brothers, Agustin Sandoval, Elias Sandoval, Florentino Sandoval, Fidel Sandoval, Leonel Sandoval, Tranquillino Sandoval, Amador Sandoval and Grabel Sandoval; and a sister, Guadalupe Sandoval.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Burial will follow in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

Jose L. Sandoval Guerrero

Jose Luis Sandoval Guerrero, 23, of Mattawa died Tuesday in Sherman County, Ore. Mr. Guerrero was born in Mexico. He worked as a farm laborer.

Survivors include his father, Tranquillino Sandoval; his mother, Emilia Sandoval; and four brothers, Evrardo Sandoval, Martin Sandoval, Osel Sandoval and Tranquillino Sandoval.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Burial will follow in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

Richard L. Mobley Sr.

Richard Lee Mobley Sr., 73, of Yakima died Wednesday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Mobley was born in Salida, Colo., moved to California and then to Washington state when he was in the third grade. He worked at Del Monte until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Mobley; a son, Richard J. Mobley of Yakima; a daughter, Sharon Karagozlu of Dublin, Calif.; a sister, Lauretta Leake of Great Falls, Mont.; and two grandchildren.

No formal services will be held. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Ramona Jimenez

Ramona Jimenez, 55, of Sunnyside died Tuesday at home. Mrs. Jimenez was born in Jalisco, Mexico, and lived in Sunnyside for the past five years. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Tomas Jimenez; two sons, Hugo Jimenez and Tomas Jimenez Jr., both of Sunnyside; five daughters, Ana Jimenez of Seattle, Blanca Jimenez, Alma Jimenez, Maria Jimenez and Janet Jimenez, all of Sunnyside.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home of Sunnyside.

Linda M. Taylor

Linda Murlene Taylor, 47, of Yakima died Tuesday in Zillah. Mrs. Taylor was born in Tulare, Calif. She worked for Tulare County and then for Golden State Family Services in Visalia, Calif., as a social worker.

Survivors include her mother, Dalores Taylor of Yakima; a son, Robert Zink of Zillah; two brothers, Ron Taylor of Yakima and Gary Taylor of Lacey, Wash.; three sisters, Elizabeth Spurlock of Kennewick, Laura Johnston of Yakima and Deanna Adams of Zillah.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Valley Hills Funeral Home of Yakima.

Anthony R. Wesley
Announcement dated May 21, 2010
Anthony R. Wesley, 52, of Toppenish drowned in the Columbia River on April 30.

Mr. Wesley was born in Toppenish. He was a commercial fisherman and rodeo clown.

Survivors include two daughters, Jacqueline Rojas and Tisha Ray Wesley; two brothers, Simon Sampson of Toppenish and Jesse Sampson; and three grandchildren.

Dressing and overnight services were held Thursday. Interment will be today in the Wish-cum Cemetery in Dallesport, Wash. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

Lee R. Duncan

Lee Roy Duncan, 80, of Silver Lake, Wash., formerly of Yakima, died Tuesday at his son's home in Brightwood, Ore. Mr. Duncan was born in Kiefer, Okla. He owned an agricultural testing lab, where he worked as a chemist.

Survivors include a son, James Duncan of Brightwood; and a daughter, Karla Grady of Dallas, Ore.

There will be no services at this time. Arrangements are by Hubbard Funeral Home of Castle Rock, Wash.

Agate F. Nelson
Announcement dated May 21, 2010
Agate F. Nelson, 95, of Ellensburg died Wednesday. Mrs. Nelson was born in Red Lake, Minn., and moved to Washington state in 1942. She lived in Naches and owned a restaurant in Wapato. She moved to Milton, Wash., in the late 1950s and retired to Ellensburg.

Survivors include two sons, Darwin Nelson of Selah and Frank Nelson of Centralia, Wash.; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

At her request, no services will be held. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Julian Zuniga

Julian Zuniga, 94, of Sunnyside died Tuesday. Mr. Zuniga was born in Carson City, Texas, and lived in Sunnyside for 40 years. He worked as a farm laborer.

Survivors include a son, Julian Zuniga; seven daughters, Elida Zuniga, Oralia Zuniga, Juanita Zuniga, Amelia Fernandez, Rosalinda Torres, and Virginia Zuniga, all of Sunnyside, and Olivia Mungia of Spokane; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Valley Hills Funeral Home of Sunnyside. Burial will follow in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

Danny W. Baer

Danny W. Baer, 52, of Yakima died Wednesday. Mr. Baer was born in Elks, W.Va. He worked in construction doing quality control material testing.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Baer of Yakima; a daughter, Jessica Baer-Oliver of Walla Walla; his father, Kenneth Baer Sr. of Chula Vista, Calif.; two sisters, Debi Chabre of the Tri-Cities and Kim Vincent of Yakima; two brothers, Randy Baer and Ken Baer Jr. of Yakima; and one granddaughter.

Celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, with location pending. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Esther M. Angela

Esther M. Angela, 98, of Yakima died Friday at Landmark Care Center. Ms. Angela was born in Billings, Mont., and grew up in Sunnyside. She farmed in the apple industry.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Tahoma Cemetery. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Linda G. Burton

Linda Gerald Burton, 65, of Yakima died Wednesday at Crescent Health Care. Mrs. Burton was born in Wapato. She had worked as a waitress and bartender. She managed the restaurant at the Holiday Inn, and worked at Howard Johnson's and the Red Lion Inn.

Survivors include a son, Eddie Lee of Firestone, Colo.; a daughter, Rhonda Freisz; four sisters, Betty Buning, Jean Epperson, Peggy Hatlestead and Carol Wake, all of Yakima; and three grandchildren.

Private family services will be held. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.
