Gene Gibson

Gene Gibson, 69, of Toppenish died Friday at his home. Mr. Gibson was born and raised in Toppenish and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He became a refrigeration specialist and worked for Montgomery Ward for many years as an appliance repairman. In the 1980s, he moved to Florida and worked on a tugboat as a chef. In 1987, he moved back to the Valley, where he farmed and worked inconstruction until retiring in the mid-2000s.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Gibson of Toppenish; two sons, Fred Gibson and Gary Gibson, both of Toppenish; two daughters, Michele Lee of Yakima and Marinda Berry of Naches; a sister, Louise Beckom of North Carolina; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
Louise E. Gaunt

Louise Elizabeth Gaunt, 95, of Spokane died April 26 at her home. Mrs. Gaunt was born in Antler, Colo., and later the family moved to Yakima. She then moved to Prosser and worked at The Reach Inn and Twin City Foods. She lived in Spokane for the last 41/2 years.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Gaunt of Kennewick and Jerry Gaunt of Echo, Ore.; two daughters, Linda Schak of Portland and Darlene Gaunt of Spokane; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Prosser Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Prosser Cemetery.
Lois E. Zyph Middleton

Lois Esther Zyph Middleton, 76, of Granger died Saturday. Mrs. Middleton was born in Toppenish. She was a cashier at the Zillah Food Center.
Survivors include her husband, Don Middleton of Granger; a son, Don Middleton Jr. of Granger; three daughters, Diana Rick of Damascus, Ore., Donnetta Derrey of Wapato and Debbie Anderson of Granger; six sisters, Margaret Belton, Dorothy Belton, Mary Ford, Sharon Ranes, Shirley Newman and Carole Levie; four brothers, Daniel Zyph, Joe Zyph, Jack Zyph and Bill Zyph; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
At her request, there will be no viewing or services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home of Zillah.
Willabelle H. Schnebly

Willabelle H. "Billie" Schnebly, 88, of Ellensburg died Friday. Mrs. Schnebly was born in Mima, Wash. She moved to the Kittitas Valley following marriage in 1941 and made her home on the family ranch in the Fairview area.
Survivors include her husband, Franklin Schnebly of Ellensburg; a daughter, Barbara Shaw of Pelham, Ala.; a son, Larry Schnebly of Corvallis, Ore.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.
Joyce A. Thorssen

Joyce A. Thorssen, 95, of Yakima died April 29. Mrs. Thorssen was born in Fairmont, N.D. She worked as a nurse for many years at hospitals and nursing homes. She also worked at Clasen Fruit and Cold Storage Co. for several years before moving to Canada in 1967. She moved back to Yakima in 2005.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Grimes of Yakima; two sons, Wayne Clasen of Yakima and Gene Clasen of Cathedral City, Calif.; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Keith and Keith Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at noon Monday in Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Wiley Heights Covenant Church.

Reginald "Reggie" D. Nelson, 74, of Wapato died Monday.
Mr. Nelson was born in Temvik, N.D., and moved to the Yakima Valley as a child. He worked as a watchman in the sawmill at White Swan until his retirement.
Survivors include a son, Ryan D. Nelson of Federal Way, Wash.; three daughters, Laurie Ernfourth of Colville, Wash., Linda Nelson of Harrah and Judy Bushman of Wapato; a sister, Betty Jensen of Wapato; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
At his request, no formal services will be held. Arrangements are by Merritt Funeral Home.
Arthur A. Hahn

Arthur A. Hahn, 87, of Golden Valley, Ariz., died April 3 at home.
Mr. Hahn was born in Missoula, Mont., and lived in Seattle, Chehalis, Wash., and Yakima. He served in the Navy and retired after 27 years with Pacific NW Bell Telephone Co.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia C. Hahn of Golden Valley; two sons, Michael Hahn of Winlock, Wash., and Don Hahn of Centralia, Wash.; two daughters, Barbara Merrill of Pe Ell, Wash., and Linda Hahn of Olympia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jeanne C. Scott, 57, of Yakima died Tuesday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Scott was born in Lewistown, Mont. She was a supervisor at Comprehensive Mental Health for 30 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Allred of Harrison, Ark.; two sons, Jeff Scott of Yakima and Jay Scott of Toppenish; her mother, Helen Elliot of Yakima; two sisters, Janet Lee of Yakima and Jolene Conner of Zillah; and 11 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Worship Center in Zillah. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
Richard Hesselgesser

Richard "Dick" Hesselgesser, 79, of Selah died Thursday.
Mr. Hesselgesser was born in York, Neb., and served in the Army during the Korean War. He moved to the Yakima Valley in 1959. He taught and coached in the Highland School District and later owned and operated Yakima Transfer and Storage.
Survivors include four daughters, Tracey Fridley, Karen Ensley and Jeanna Wardell, all of Vancouver, Wash., and Adele Kilseimer of Selah; two sons, Todd Hesselgesser and Paul Hesselgesser, both of Selah; a sister, Bonnie Wortley of Arizona; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Sandra Lee Barnett, 65, of Buena died Wednesday. Mrs. Barnett was born in Ashland, Wis. She lived in Buena for seven years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, William Barnett; two daughters, Jenna Brandt and Chris Ann Robb; and two sisters, Karen Holt and B.J. Holt.

John Patrick Ryan, 62, of Yakima died Thursday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ryan was born in Altoona, Wis. He worked as an insurance salesman before retiring.
Survivors include two children, Jeaninne Ryan of Mukilteo, Wash., and Shaun Ryan of Spokane; two brothers, Rick Ryan of Eau Claire, Wis., and Pete Ryan of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; and three sisters, Judy Roinsted of Illinois, Tammy Stelter of Fall Creek, Wis., and Barb Hansen of Chippewa Falls.
The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Lynette Lorraine Lund, 45, of Yakima died Tuesday at her home. Ms. Lund was born and raised in Yakima. She worked at numerous local establishments.
Survivors include a daughter, Charice of Camas, Wash.; a son, Ricardo Sanchez of Toppenish; a brother, Walter Lund of Naches; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Yakima Sportsman State Park.

Russell Oscar Dahlberg, 90, of Selah died Wednesday at Riverview Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Dahlberg was born in Ferndale, Wash., and served in the Army during World War II. He lived in Portland for 70 years and lived the past three years in Selah. He worked in a lumber mill for over 50 years.
Survivors include a son, Gerald Dahlberg of Selah; a daughter, Debbie Dimoff of Portland; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held in Willamette National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors.

Richard Phillip Lizotte, 69, of Yakima died Thursday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Lizotte was born and raised in Yakima. He worked for Zirkle Fruit for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Lizotte of Yakima; seven daughters; a son; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today and Sunday at Valley Hills Funeral Home of Yakima. Memorial service will be at noon Monday at the Elks Lodge in Selah.

Archibald "Scott" Cleghorn Robertson Jr., 83, of Yakima died April 22 in Yakima.
He was born in Honolulu. He moved to the Yakima area in 1991. He worked as a personnel administrator in the construction industry. He served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Robertson of Yakima; a son, Scott Robertson of Hawaii; four stepsons, Albert Diaz of Renton, Wash., Henry Diaz of Seattle and James Diaz of Kent, Wash., and Thomas Diaz of Lake Forest Park, Wash.; two daughters, Jackie Lee and Constance Haskell, both of Hawaii; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home in Yakima.

David R. Halvorson, 54, of Toppenish died Thursday at home.
He was born in Toppenish. He worked on the family farm.
Survivors include two children, Nicholas and Nichole, both of Toppenish; two brothers, Barry Halvorson and Richard Halvorson, both of Toppenish; a sister, Linda Suhadolnik of Prosser; and his mother, Angeline, of Yakima.

Mildred Elsie (Scheel) Moberly, 96, died Monday at home from esophageal cancer.
She was born in Edmonton, Alberta. She came to the United States at age 7 and to the Yakima Valley in 1921. She was primarily a wife and homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Robert Moberly of Yakima; a daughter, Sharon Brittingham of Moxee; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Michael Van Sloten, 49, of Spokane Valley died Thursday at home.
He was born in Englewood, Calif. He lived for about 10 years in the Yakima area, where he was a corrections officer for Yakima County. He spent 30 years as a real estate appraiser.
Survivors include his wife, Danelle; six children, David, Danae, Mitchell, Ashley, Joshua and Jenna; and numerous foster children.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Spokane Valley Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Arrangements are by Thornhill Valley Chapel of Spokane Valley.

She was born in Wilkerson, Wash., and was a homemaker.

Mr. Ronan was born in Bismarck, N.D. He moved to Yakima at age 3. He was a machine operator for Boise Cascade for 40 years. He moved to Spokane Valley three years ago.
