Dolores King Fife, 80, of Selah died Tuesday at Crescent Health Care Center.
Mrs. Fife was born in Yakima. She was a lifelong Selah resident and special education teacher in the Selah School District for 19 years.
Survivors include four children, Gary Fife, Kathleen Blechschmidt and Karen Griffen, all of Selah, and Chuck Fife of Yakima; a sister, Sina Clauson of Olympia; and 16 grandchildren.
Viewing and visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Monday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church, 91 Wernex Loop in Selah.
Helene Larson

Helene Larson, 95, of Selah died Tuesday in Yakima.
Mrs. Larson was born in Waterloo, Iowa. She worked at Ross Packing Co., retiring in 1983. She later worked at Zirkle Fruit Co. for three years.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon McCoy of Selah.
At Mrs. Larson's request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.
Mary Long

Mary "Madge" Long, 92, of Naches died Tuesday at Landmark Care Center.
Mrs. Long was born in Naches. She lived in Tacoma and moved back to Naches in 1945 to live on the family farm. She was also one of the original organizers and supporters of Naches Applewood Park.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Long of Spokane, Gary Long of Naches and Dennis Long of Klamath Falls, Ore.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tahoma Cemetery. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
Marvin Carlson

Marvin "Bob" Carlson, 89, of Yakima died Thursday. Mr. Carlson was born in Yakima. He was an orchardist for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Montgomery of Yakima and Beverly Winter-Eben of Seattle; a brother, Russell Carlson of Yakima; a sister, Doris Kelly of Yakima; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Terrace Heights Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wiley Heights Covenant Church. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
Leola M. Chinn

Leola M. Chinn, 93, of Satus died Thursday in Toppenish. Mrs. Chinn was born in Outlook and raised and educated in Granger. She retired from Del Monte after many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce "Shirley" Haines of Palm Desert, Calif.; two stepchildren, James S. Chinn of Carmel, Calif., and Mary Mooney of Roseburg, Ore.; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Colonial Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Zillah City Cemetery.
Maitle I. Taff

Maitle Irene Taff, 96, of Prosser died Wednesday. Mrs. Taff was born in Adrian, Mich. She started teaching school at the age of 17.
Burial will be in the East Prosser Cemetery. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home LTD of Sunnyside.
Gary R. Hirst

Gary Richard Hirst, 59, died Friday at his home in Yakima.
Mr. Hirst was born, raised and educated in Spokane. He worked as an athletic trainer for 35 years. The last 15 years, until the fall of 2009, he worked at Eisenhower High School in Yakima, where he also taught sports medicine and health.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Robins of Yakima, and a sister, Susan Guthrie of Rathdrum, Idaho.
A memorial service at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church is being planned, and so is a wake at Bert's Pub. Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lavern E. Thompson

Lavern Eugene Thompson, 72, of Sunnyside died at Grandview Health Care on Thursday.
Mr. Thompson was born in Yakima and worked as a television repairman for many years.
Survivors include four children, Cheryl, Christine, Steve and Kevin Thompson; three sisters, Wanda Voss of Kennewick, Carol Martin of Montana and Wilma Field of Grandview; and two brothers, Leo Thompson of Arizona and Lloyd Thompson of Montana.
Services are pending. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Nora Rose Tennant, 81, of Puyallup, Wash., died Thursday in Puyallup.
Ms. Tennant was born in Shawneetown, Ill. She was a homemaker who lived in Yakima for 30 years. She moved to Puyallup in 2007.
Survivors include five sons, Billy Tennant of Arkansas, Bobby Tennant of Kent, Wash., Jimmy Tennant of Yakima, Larry Tennant of Illinois and David Tennant of Naches; four daughters, Elizabeth Boyle of Naches, Carmella Sparks of Montana, Nancy Mathena of Texas and Marilyn Ray of Puyallup; three brothers, Mike Mattingly of Bremerton, Wash., Steve Mattingly of Lacey, Wash., and Chris Mattingly of Kent; two sisters, Jeannie Mattingly and Shelly Mattingly, both of Burien, Wash.; 27 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, also at Valley Hills. Burial will take place at West Hills Memorial Park.
Russell K. Taylor

Russell Kenneth Taylor, 68, of Yakima died Friday in Yakima.
Mr. Taylor was born in Honolulu and moved to Yakima in 1974. He worked as an ecology engineer until his retirement in 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Taylor of Yakima; three sons, Steven Taylor, Krey Taylor and Kyler Taylor; a daughter, Kelsie Hinkle; three sisters, Terry Taylor, Deborah Hanson and Barbara Taylor; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. April 17 at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.
Ralph R. Hill

Ralph Roy Hill, 88, of Yakima died Thursday in Selah.
Mr. Hill was born in Portland and worked as a dentist in Yakima for 30 years before retiring in 1982. He also taught for nine years in the dental hygiene program at Yakima Valley Junior College.
Survivors include a son, Robert Hill of Yakima; a daughter, Karen Murray of Bakersfield, Calif., and one grandchild.
Private graveside services will be held at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held in June at First Presbyterian Church in Yakima.

Mary Jane Norwood, 94, of South Cle Elum died Thursday at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital.
Ms. Norwood was born in Ronald, Wash. She was a homemaker.

James LeRoy Logston, 57, of Selah died Friday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Logston was born in Pasco and worked at Hanford.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Logston of Selah; his mother, Verna Bunten of Yakima; a son, Jonathan Logston of Yakima; a daughter, Jaymee Muscato of Selah; three brothers, Gary Logston of Selah, Chuck Logston of Yakima and Chris Logston of Arizona; two sisters, Sandra Logston and Wendi Reynolds, both of Vancouver, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Valley Hills Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. at West Hills Memorial Park.

James Arthur Roush, 62, of Yakima died Friday in Yakima.
Mr. Roush was born in Dayton, Pa., and served in the Army in Korea. He retired from Shields Bag and Printing Co. last year.
Survivors include his wife, Liliane Roush of Yakima; three sons, James Roush Jr., Jeff Roush and Jason Roush, all of Pennsylvania; a daughter, Susan McClung of Pennsylvania; five brothers, John Roush of Arizona, Paul Roush of New York, and George Roush, Ronald Roush and Harvey Roush, all of Pennsylvania; nine sisters, Florence Bump of Arizona, Connie Roush of Georgia, Hope Cuniz of Ohio, and Jane McIntire, Ann Kough, Phoebe Zimmerman, Mary Saul, Nellie Elkin and Ruth Wilble, all of Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren.

Ms. Worley was born in Boston, Mo., and moved to the Yakima area in 1940. She worked in fruit warehouses until her retirement in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Worley of Tieton; a daughter, Barbara Beitel of Yakima; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Walter G. Manuel, 50, of White Swan died Friday in a motor vehicle accident. Mr. Manuel was born in Goldendale, raised along the Columbia River and held a variety of jobs, including as a commercial fisherman, farm laborer, log truck driver and wood-cutter.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Manuel of White Swan; two children, William G. and Jenifer E. Manuel, both of White Swan; father, Fred Manuel of Nespelem, Wash.; two sisters, Velma Manuel of Yakima and Doris Strong of Wapato; and five grandchildren.
Dressing services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Colonial Funeral Home. Overnight services will follow that evening at the Independent Indian Shaker Church of White Swan, with sunrise services on Thursday. Interment will follow at the Pine Creek-Moon Cemetery outside of Bickleton.

Modesta Mendez, 81, of Sunnyside died Saturday in Sunnyside.
Mrs. Mendez was born in Michoacán, Mexico. She lived in Sunnyside for 20 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Guadalupe Mendez of Wenatchee and Anita Mendez of Sunnyside; six sons, Pedro, Francisco and Rafael, both of Wenatchee, Daniel and Luis, both of Sunnyside, and Salvador of Chehalis, Wash.; four siblings, Reynalda, Margarita Torrez, Asencion and Jesus Torrez, all of Mexico; 52 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
Viewing and visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside.
A Christian Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Burial will follow in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home and Crematory.
Ophelia L. Castro

Ophelia L. Castro, 87, of Wapato died Saturday. Mrs. Castro was born in West Morlan, Calif., and moved to the Yakima Valley in the mid-1960s. She worked for a time as a farm laborer.
Survivors include nine children, Rachel, Tula, Cruz, George, Raymond, Emilio, Evelyn, Henry and Nadine; eight brothers, one sister, 29 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, also at the funeral home.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Jansen of Lincoln City, Ore., and Dirk Jansen of Seattle; a daughter, Colleen Jansen of Seattle; a sister, Doris Rankin of Yakima; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
