Maude Irene Carlson, 93, died Friday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.
She was born in Belgrade, Mont., and moved to Yakima in 2000.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Linstad of Cowiche; a son, David Simpson of St. Regis, Mont.; two sisters, Gladys Chandler and Betty McElwee, both of Montana; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Joyce "Joe" Melvin Smith, 89, of Yakima died Wednesday at Garden Village in Yakima.
Mr. Smith was born in Alhambra, Calif., and served in the Army during World War II. He worked for 31 years as a television repair man.
He is survived by two daughters, Eulah Tangeman of Yakima and Lita Smith of Salem, Ore.; a sister, Dee of Grants Pass, Ore.; a brother, Lee of Oroville, Calif.; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation well be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Tahoma Cemetery.
Barbara M. Friend

Barbara M. Friend, 73, died on March 2 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Yakima and graduated from Highland High School. She was a homemaker and also worked as a lab technician at several canneries.
She is survived by a son, Clyde Friend of Yakima.
At her request, there will be no funeral. Burial will be in Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Florence Mae Haggerty, 77, died in her White Swan home on Saturday.
She was born in Wapato and served in the Navy. She also started the Yakama Nation Daycare Center and was a principal at Fort Simcoe Job Corps Center.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Haggerty of Union Gap and Robert Haggerty of White Swan; four daughters, Marsha Sundquist of Anchorage, Ala., Helen Haggerty, Barbara Martin and Susan Haggerty, all of White Swan; two brothers, Charlie Pimms of Wapato and George Pimms of Spokane; nine sisters, Delores Moore of Toppenish, Anita Swan of White Swan, Lena Owens, Lila Ambrose, Mae Sohappy, Amelia Sampson, Verna Jefferson, Lorena Sohappy and Rosemary Pimms; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Dressing services were held Sunday at Merrit Funeral Home. She then was transported to the Wapato Longhouse for washout services. Today she will be taken to her home for a rosary service at 6 p.m. Funeral mass will be at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, followed by her burial at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Robbie Boyd Akins, 62, of Tieton died Sunday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Akins was born in Yakima. He served in the Army and then the National Guard for a total of 24 years. He then worked for Northwest Protective Services.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia Akins of Tieton; and a daughter, Heather Escobedo of Fresno, Calif.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Valley Hills Funeral Home of Yakima. At his request, there will be no services.

Orville E. “Gene” Carlyle, 82, of Sunnyside died Friday. Mr. Carlyle was born in Winona, Wash. He worked as an electrician for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Carlyle of Sunnyside; four daughters, Patty Carlyle, Karen Womach, Cindy Marquez and Jan Cook, all of Sunnyside; a brother, Roger Carlyle of Puyallup, Wash.; a sister, Madeline Pearce of Anchorage, Alaska; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. A celebration of life will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church.

Richard M. “Dick” DeLozier, 72, of Wapato died Friday at home.
Mr. DeLozier was born in Deep Water, Mo., and moved to the Yakima Valley in 1942. He worked as a surveyor for Yakima County Roads Department for 32 years, retiring in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn DeLozier of Wapato; a daughter, Eleanor Garza of Wapato; two sons, Jim DeLozier of Wapato and Rich DeLozier of Yakima; a brother, Glen DeLozier of Richland; a sister, Sue DeLozier Dossey of Eugene, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Reservation Community Memorial Park, west of Wapato.

Russell K Heier, 80, of Prosser died Friday at home. Mr. Heier was born in Alexander, N.D., and moved to Prosser in the 1950s. He worked for the railroad for many years, retiring in 1987.
Survivors include five children, June McConnell of Prosser, Stephens Brown of Tacoma, Paul Bantam of Federal Way, Wash., Steve Anacone of Missouri and Millie Wilcox of Auburn, Wash.; a sister, Sadie DeFoer of Wenatchee; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Frieda C. Kurtt

Frieda Clara Kurtt, 99, of Waverly, Iowa, formerly of Denver, Iowa, and Yakima, died Sunday at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.
She was born in Denver. She then went to work for Chamberlain Manufacturing Company in Waterloo, Iowa. In 1943 she entered the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve in Seattle. In 1946 she moved to Yakima and worked as a clerk with Rainier Bank from 1947 until retiring in 1975. She moved to Waverly in 1999.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothea Gleason and Marie Meyne of Waverly; two brothers, Arthur W. Kurtt of Denver and John F. Kurtt of Waverly.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Denver. Arrangements are by Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver.

Nelson E. Pruitt, 61, of Yakima died Thursday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center. Mr. Pruitt was born in Denison, Texas. He was a forklift operator and worked for Holtzinger Fruit Co. for more than 30 years.
Survivors include two brothers, Ronnie Pruitt and Gary Pruitt of Yakima; and three sisters, Lena Fuller of Selah, Brenda Ferron of Yakima and Yvonne Wilds of Glenville, Ga.
A celebration of life will be at noon Friday at the Keith and Keith Terrace Heights Reception Center.

Milton Schmidt, 87, of Yakima died Saturday at Good Samaritan Health Care Center. Mr. Schmidt was born in Fresno, Calif., and served in the Air Force. He owned and operated a moving and storage company.

At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Gilberto L. Vela, 85, Yakima died Sunday. Mr. Vela was born in McAllen, Texas, and moved to the Yakima Valley in the early 1960s. He worked for U & I Sugar as a trucker driver and also worked for Champoux Farms.
Survivors include 10 children, Gilbert Vela Jr., Maria West and Jesse Vela, all of Arkansas, Raymond Vela of Michigan, Ruben Vela of Spokane, Raul Vela of Harrah, Linda Smith of Indianapolis, Ind., Anita Vela of Wapato, Adela Linares of Granger and Angelina Vela of Yakima; four brothers and four sisters, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gary Burl Davenport, 63, of Naches died Monday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Davenport was born in Harrison, Ark. He worked as an outside salesman for Yakima Grinding.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Davenport of Naches; his mother, Frankie Seay of Yakima; and two grandchildren.

Billie Ella Hamilton, 94, of Toppenish died Sunday. Mrs. Hamilton was born in Wellington, Texas. She lived in Zillah, then moved to Toppenish, where she lived for more than 65 years.
Survivors include her husband, Garnett P. Hamilton; three daughters, Fredine Burney, Wanda Collins and Lola Doolin; two sons, Patrick Hamilton and Michael Hamilton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Phyllis E. Ogden, 83, of Sunnyside died Saturday. Mrs. Ogden was born in Seattle. She later made her home in Everett, Wash., and Anchorage, Alaska, before moving to Grandview. She worked as a radiology technician and raised grapes.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharyl Buehler of Mill Creek, Wash.; two sisters, Ada Wilson of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Dorothy Marshall of California; two brothers, Harvey Hardesty of Arlington, Wash., and Jerry Hardesty of Marysville, Wash.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ryan Glenn Moore, 25, of Union Gap died Saturday in Yakima. Mr. Moore was born in Richland. He worked as a fabricator in the hydraulics industry.
Survivors include his mother, Shannon Switzer of Boise, Idaho; his father and stepmother, Ronald and Peggy Moore of Yakima; and two stepbrothers, Josh Torpey and Richard Gregory, both of Yakima.

Martha L. Burson, 74, of Selah died Saturday at Willow Springs Nursing Home.
Mrs. Burson was born in Yakima, moved to Selah in 1968, then left in 1970 and returned in 1973. She was a CNA at Summitview Care Center for several years and then at Yakima Valley School.
Survivors include three daughters, Pamela Burson of Anchorage, Alaska, Therissa Carmichael of Yakima and Bonnie Johnson of Selah; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Ed Isherwood

Ed Isherwood, 78, of Yakima died Sunday at home.
Mr. Isherwood was born in Sunnyside and moved to Wapato when he was 6. He served in the Navy and later worked for the city of Seattle's engineering department, starting in the traffic signal design and operation division. After a couple of years, he was promoted to senior engineer in charge of the division.
Survivors include his wife, Marge Isherwood of Yakima; three sons, Ryan Isherwood of Chicago, Scott Isherwood of Moses Lake and David Isherwood of Hercules, Calif.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Yakima. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
