Ellis I. Flaaen, 93, of Ellensburg died Wednesday at his home.

He was born in Havelock, N.D. He worked in a variety of locations, including the Bremerton shipyards, before coming to Ellensburg in the mid-1940s. He retired from the city of Ellensburg's gas department.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Trail of Ellensburg; two daughters, Star Lee Corner of Carson, Wash., and Sue Ellen Boatman of Red Bluff, Calif.; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial celebration of life is planned with details to be announced. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care.

George D. Quick
Announcement dated February 25, 2010
George Dean Quick, 81, of Yakima died Tuesday. He was born in Yakima.

He is survived by his "family" at Community Living.

Visitation will be today from 3-7 p.m. at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with private burial at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Cecil L. Shafer

Cecil Leroy Shafer, 63, of Yakima died Tuesday at Willow Springs.

He was born in Fall City, Neb. He worked in construction jobs throughout Yakima, Seattle and the Tri-Cities. He retired in 2002.

Survivors include four children, Julie Shafer, Janie Manges, Bradley Shafer and Laura Murphy, all of Hutchinson, Kan.; a brother, Charles Shafer of Yakima; and three sisters, Helen Richmond of Selma, Calif., Alice Lee of Centennial, Colo., and Mary Heintzman of Moxee; and seven grandchildren.

Viewing is today from 4-6 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at West Hills Memorial Park. Those planning to attend should meet at the cemetery.

Nam Van Nguyen
Announcement dated February 25, 2010
Nam Van Nguyen, 62, of Moxee died Monday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Saigon, Vietnam. He worked for Energy Northwest for more than 30 years, retiring two years ago. He moved to the United States in 1975.

Survivors include his wife, Tung Thi Nguyen of Moxee; and two sons, James Nguyen and Thomas Nguyen, both of Moxee.

There will be no services at Mr. Nguyen's request. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.

Hazel M. Leland
Announcement dated February 25, 2010
Hazel M. Leland, 84, died Friday at Summitview Healthcare Center.

She was born in Superior, Wis., and moved west in 1948 to teach physical education and health at Yakima High School and later Yakima Valley Community College.

Survivors include two nieces, Amy Usgaard of Decorah, Iowa, and Cora Leland of Minneapolis; and a nephew, Timothy Leland of Excelsior, Minn.

At her request, no services will be held. Inurnment will be in Superior. Arrangements by Keith & Keith Funeral Home.

Beverly A. Hale
Announcement dated February 26, 2010
Beverly Ann Hale, 68, of Yakima died Tuesday at Parkside Nursing Care Center in Union Gap.

Mrs. Hale was born in Aberdeen, Wash. She worked as an independent long-haul truck driver out of Yakima for many years.

Survivors include three children, James Hale Sr. and Traci Barr, both of Yakima, and Jessica Whickman of Aberdeen; a brother, Otto J. Aldridge of Elma; a sister, Julie Ann Benson of Aberdeen; 46 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

Dora G. Field

Dora Glee Field, 73, of Granger died Tuesday. Mrs. Field was born in McPherson Ridge, Idaho. She lived in Grandview, Harrah and Granger and raised cattle.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin Fields of Granger; two daughters, Tammie Williams of Grandview and Lisa Dunn of Yakima; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. March 16 at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside.

Eddie Zimmerman

Eddie Zimmerman, 89, of Toppenish died Wednesday. Mr. Zimmerman was born in Arkansas. He worked as a warehouse worker.

Survivors include a son, Jerome Zimmerman of Zillah; a daughter, Ada Gillet of Yakima; a sister, Audrey Turner of Yakima; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at West Hills Memorial Park.

Erma Sainsbury

Erma Sainsbury, 87, of Sunnyside died Thursday. She was born in Burley, Idaho, and worked as a nurse.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Graff of Othello and Tim Graff of Outlook; three stepsons, Clary Sainsbury of Spokane, Phillip Sainsbury of Murray, Utah, and Lyle Sainsbury of Moses Lake; three brothers, Ralph Prescott and Don Prescott, both of Sunnyside, and Howard "Bud" Prescott of Longview, Wash.; six sisters, Marjorie Van Belle and Helen McGlenchy, both of Longview, Betty England of Walla Walla, Shirley White of Milton-Freewater, Ore., Joyce Armstrong of Pateros, Wash. and Barbara Hogan of Kelso, Wash.; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Sunnyside Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will follow in the Zillah Cemetery.

Louis D. Hudec

Louis D. Hudec, 93, of Yakima died Feb. 17 in Everett, Wash.

He was born in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan, Canada. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and worked over 40 years as a mobile home builder and dealer.

Survivors include his wife, Anne M. Grimm Hudec; and two children, Brad Hudec of Stanwod, Wash., and Darryl Hudec of Stockbridge, Ga.

A private family memorial is planned in Everett. Arrangements are by Purdy Walters with Cassidy of Everett.

Ruth L. Nelson

Ruth Lorraine Nelson, 86, of Yakima died Tuesday at Summitview Healthcare Center. She was born in Yakima and worked as a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane Hoggarth of Seattle.

Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Tahoma Cemetery. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.

Eunice V. Kinney

Eunice Vandella Kinney, 87, of Sunnyside died Tuesday in Grandview.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Kinney of Sunnyside; three sons, Ron Kinney of Bainbridge Island, Wash., Jim Kinney of Kent, Wash., and Larry Kinney of Sunnyside; a brother, Charles Wiley of Prosser; a sister, Wanda Scheuffele of Kennewick; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Viewing and visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday and Monday and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside.

Arnold Clifton Gordon, 63, of Yakima died Thursday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Gordon was born in Auburn, Calif. He served in the Marine Corps from 1963-1967 and during the Vietnam War. He worked for Graves Trucking for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gordon of Yakima; two sons, Virgil Gordon of Sedro Woolley, Wash., and Andy Gordon of Tieton; a daughter, Erica Peppers of Yakima; three brothers, Ronald Gordon of Tieton, Donald Gordon of Springfield, Mo., and Kevin Gordon of Lacey, Wash.; a sister, Leaona Mason of Cowiche; and seven grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Janesa Kristariea Lee Tasker and Janiela Marlene Marie Tasker of Moxee died at birth Tuesday in Yakima.

The twin sisters are survived by their parents, Chris Tasker Jr. of Naches and Priana Taylor of Moxee; and grandparents Chris and Kristin Tasker of Naches and Chris and Lashanya Topps of Moxee.

At the family's request, there will be no services. Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

James A. Myers

James Arlie Myers, 79, of Yakima died Feb. 19 in Union Gap. Mr. Myers was born in Russellville, Ark. He worked as a custodian for Weyerhaeuser.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; two sons, Phillip Myers of Whidbey Island, Wash., and Clayton Barnes of Yakima; a daughter, Connie Cooke of California; and several grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Saturday at West Valley Missionary Church in Yakima. The time is pending. Keith and Keith Funeral Home of Yakima is handling the arrangements.

Lillian M. Tahkeal

Lillian M. Tahkeal, 76, of Wapato died Friday in Wapato.

Mrs. Tahkeal was born in Toppenish and raised and educated in the Yakima Valley. She lived in Cooks, Wash., for more than 30 years before moving back to Wapato. She worked for the Yakama Indian Nation Adult Vocational Training Program.

Survivors include five sons, Kenneth Tahkeal, Vernon Tahkeal, Russell Tahkeal, Terry Tahkeal and Curtis Tahkeal, all of Wapato; three daughters, Beatrice Slome, Linda Tahkeal and Bonita Tahkeal, all of Wapato; a brother, Frank Miller of White Swan; a sister, Juanita Wallahee of Harrah; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A dressing service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato, followed by services at Toppenish Longhouse. Overnight services will be at the 1910 Shaker Church in White Swan. The funeral will be at sunrise Wednesday at the church, with burial at Toweet-My Cemetery.

James R. Jackson

James Rayburn Jackson, 61, of Yakima died Sunday at his home. He was born in Albuquerque, N.M. He served in the Navy and worked for Goodwill Industries, Zirkle Fruit, Washington Fruit & Produce and Olympic Fruit.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jackson of Yakima; three daughters, Sandra Jackson and Chrystal Holman, both of Selah, and Sonny D. of Idaho; four sons, Jay Marco of Idaho, Shane Jackson of Anchorage, Alaska, Adam Jackson of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Franklin Jackson of Yakima; his mother, Josephine Stone of Yakima; a brother, Hubert Jackson of New Mexico; a sister, Lethia Cory of New Mexico; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Inurnment will be at West Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Lucile Smith Young, 89, of Yakima died Thursday at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.

She was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt. She was a foster case worker with the Department of Social and Health Services for 20 years.

Survivors include five children, Prudence Mook of Atwater, Calif., Carol Humes of Portland, Robert Young Jr. of Oakland, Ore., Curtis Young of Yakima and Peter Young of Seattle; a sister, Elizabeth McGuirk of The Villages, Fla.; a brother, Philip Smith of Milford, N.H.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. March 19 at United Christian Church. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Everett Q. Dolliver

Everett Q. Dolliver, 97, of Yakima died Saturday.

He was born in Richardton, N.D., and moved to the Yakima area in 1938. He worked as a mechanic for Boise Cascade Timber until his retirement in 1977.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Fewell of Yakima; a sister, Blanche Hoff of Yakima; five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Naches Presbyterian Church in Naches.
