Susan M. Olson, 63, of Yakima died Sunday at home. Mrs. Olson was born in Nebraska. She worked as a nurse for 15 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Miranda Solis, and a son, Shawn Neal, both of Yakima; a brother, Steve Swihart; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel.

Earl W. Sprenkle
Announcement dated January 06, 2010
Earl Wayne Sprenkle, 76, of Yakima died Monday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Sprenkle was born in Anoka, Neb., and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He returned to Washington and worked at Boeing for a few years. He then moved to Yakima, where he began roofing and started a business, retiring when he was 72.

Survivors include three children, Oralene Worthington of Portland, Vincent Sprenkle of Rolla, Mo., and Valerie Lemon of Yakima; his companion, Margaret Delp of Yakima; three brothers, Paul Sprenkle and Donnie Sprenkle of Clovis, Calif., and Willard Sprenkle of Fresno, Calif.; a sister, Evelyn Tanner of Archer, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Cathedral Chapel. Burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Neptune Society.

Dean B. Rosenkranz

Dean B. Rosenkranz, 80, of Yakima died Monday at home. Mr. Rosenkranz was born in Yakima. He was a pharmacist in the Yakima Valley.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou Rosenkranz of Yakima; three children, Ruth Rosenkranz and Karen Hull of Yakima and Stephen Rosenkranz of Kennewick; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wiley Union Church. Burial will follow in West Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Eugene D. McPherson

Eugene D. McPherson, 79, of Yakima died Sunday at home. Mr. McPherson was born in Yakima. He was a dairy farmer in Selah most of his life. He also worked at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital as a custodian for a few years.

Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Smith and Patty Kester of Yakima; three sons, David McPherson and Jerry McPherson of Selah and Jim McPherson of Beaverton, Ore.; two stepsisters, Linda Anglin of Selah and Carol Mulvahill of Yakima; a brother, Junior McPherson of Selah; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Tahoma Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Leonard Sears

Leonard Sears, 83, of Mabton died Sunday in Grandview. Mr. Sears was born in Cortez, Colo., and served in the Army in Korea. He worked for White River Lumber Co. in Mabton. He later became a journeyman carpenter and worked at Hanford and other construction sites throughout the Midwest.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Sears of Mabton; a son, Calvin Sears of Spokane; a daughter, Janice Jenkins of Mabton; four grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

At his request, no formal services will be held. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home LTD and Crematory.

Jamie R. White
Announcement dated January 06, 2010
Jamie R. White, 45, of White Swan died Monday at Toppenish Community Hospital. She was born in Toppenish and raised and educated in Carson, Wash. She worked as a clerk at numerous stores in Toppenish.

Survivors include her adopted parents, Calvin and Mary White of Carson; two sons, Leroy D. White and Kevin T. Brehmn, both of Yakima; a daughter, Samantha White of Union Gap; two brothers, Corbett Thompson of White Swan and Jerry L. White Jr., of Union Gap; three sisters, Veronica Wesley of White Swan, Consuelo Johnson of Warm Springs and Darla R. White-Heard of Portland; and three grandchildren.

Dressing services will be at 1 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home. Overnight services will be at the 1910 Shaker Church, with the funeral starting at 9 a.m. Thursday. Interment will follow in the 1910 Shaker Church Cemetery.

Loretta R. McDougall

Loretta Roseanne "Sister" McDougall, 45, died Sunday in Missoula, Mont.

She was born in Denver and moved with her family to Renton, Wash., at the age of 3 and then to Yakima. She worked as a CNA in a local nursing home. In the 1990s she moved to Hot Springs, Mont.

Survivors include a daughter, Crystal McDougall of Polson, Mont.; her parents, Harriett McDougall of Camas Prairie and Dan McDougall Sr., of Hot Springs; three brothers, Daniel "Mooch" McDougall, Billy McDougall and Henry "Bear" McDougall; and three grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at the bowling alley in Hot Springs. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, also at the bowling alley. Cremation will follow. A memorial will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Foster Funeral Home and Crematory in Montana.

Kathryn C. Stone

Kathryn "Kay" C. Stone, 81, of Yakima died Friday in Yakima.

She was born in Midwest, Wyo., and worked as a pharmacist.

Survivors include two sons Charles Wait of Edina, Minn., and William Wait of Bar Nunn, Wyo.; a sister, Susan Van Noy of San Marcos, Calif., and five granchildren.

Viewing will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Charles Ricks
Announcement dated January 18, 2010
Charles (Chaz) Ricks, 72, of Leavenworth, Wash., died on Nov. 12.

Mr. Ricks was born in Sunnyside. He worked in his family grocery store Hiway Fruit before and after serving in the Navy.

In recent years, he lived in Leavenworth to be closer to friends.

Survivors include a sister, Pat Daire, several nieces and nephews, and his best friend, Ruth.

A memorial service will be held at the Garten Haus in Leavenworth on Sunday.

William L. Bellomy

William Leroy Bellomy, 90, of Anderson Island, Wash., died Jan. 14 at home. Mr. Bellomy was born in Troy, Idaho, and fought in World War II. He also lived in Kennewick, Yakima and Moses Lake, when he began farming under the Columbia Basin Project.

Survivors include four daughters, Chris Quinn of Anderson Island, Karen Bernd of Yakima, Judy Dietzen of Pasco and Jeannie Sanders of Woodinville, Wash.; a son, Col. Robert S. Bellomy of Mason Neck, Va.; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 6 at First Presbyterian Church in Yakima. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Regina Berger
Announcement dated January 21, 2010
Regina Berger, 92, of Yakima died Tuesday. Mrs. Berger was born in Fallon, N.D., and moved to the Yakima Valley in the early 1940s. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Ralph Berger of Selah, Ron Berger and Duane Berger, both of Yakima; two daughters, Dorothy Pratt and Karen Miller, both of Yakima; a sister, Betty Ruhl of Western Washington; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. A vigil will follow at 6 p.m. Friday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, also at the church, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Margaret Dougherty

Margaret (Joyce) Dougherty, 76, of Wapato died Tuesday. Mrs. Dougherty was born in Marysville, Calif., and moved to the Yakima Valley in 1994. She was a certified nursing assistant.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Harwood and Dean Harwood; a daughter, Kelly Hoon of Yakima; two sisters, Jean McCan and Annie Turner; and eight grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Terry Harper

Terry Harper, 58, died Tuesday at Kittitas Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Harper was born in St. Louis, Mo., and served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed in the Medical Center at the University of Oregon. He moved to Ellensburg in 2004 following a disabling industrial accident.

Survivors include a son, Cody Adric-Harper; and a daughter, Alaistra M.J. Harper, both of Ephrata, Wash.

Memorial observation will be private. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.

Wally Oldfather

Wally Oldfather, 64, of Zillah died Tuesday in Toppenish. Mr. Oldfather was born in Long Beach, Calif. He worked for Zillah Food Center for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Oldfather; a daughter, Sharon Salverda of Zillah; his mother, Arlynn Oldfather of Hermiston, Ore.; a brother, David Oldfather of Wasilla, Alaska; two sisters, Kathy Beeman of Mabton and Joanne Hancock of Hermiston; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Zillah Civic Center. Burial will follow in the Zillah Cemetery.

Minerva Torres

Minerva Torres, 62, of Sunnyside died Tuesday. Mrs. Torres was born in Edinburg, Texas. She was the lead teacher for the Migrant Council and EPIC Headstart for more than 32 years.

Survivors include her husband, Raymundo Torres of Sunnyside; three children, Myrna Torres, David Torres and Marcy Torres, all of Sunnyside; five siblings, America Sanchez, Norma Soto, Elvira Soto, Alvaro Soto Jr. and Roy Veliz; and five grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Burial will follow in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

Casilda Valdez

Casilda (Cassy) Valdez, 94, of Olalla, Wash., died Sunday in Yakima. Mrs. Valdez was born in Ranchos De Taos, N.M., and moved to the Yakima Valley in 1945. She worked as a business owner/operator of the Merchants Service Bureau until 1987. She recently moved to Olalla.

Survivors include a son, John Valdez of Auburn, Wash.; two daughters, Susan Valdez of Olalla and Mary Foote of Tierra Amarilla, N.M.; a sister, Agnes Reynolds of El Paso, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today, with a rosary beginning at 6 p.m., all at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Raymond W. Webber

Raymond William Webber, 75, of Desert Aire, Wash., died Friday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center. Mr. Webber was born in Pine Creek, Wash., and grew up in Okanogan County. He served in the Navy and then moved to Kittitas. After retiring from the Kittitas County Assessor's Office, he moved to Desert Aire.

Survivors include his wife, Cleo Webber of Desert Aire; a son, Bill Webber of Yakima; two daughters, Jan Noyes and Linda Thorndike of Yakima; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Desert Aire Senior Center. Arrangements were by the Neptune Society.

Clinton D. Moore

Clinton D. Moore, 73, of Yakima died Sunday at home. Mr. Moore was born in North Platte, Neb. He worked as a carpenter for his entire life.

Survivors include five children, Dee Lenberg and Clint Moore Jr. of Yakima, Renea Hankinson of Moxee, Kathy Roberts of Oklahoma and Shelly Benge of Union Gap; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the family home. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Warren M. Nelson

Warren M. Nelson, 86, of Yakima died Tuesday at his home.

Mr. Nelson was born in Ellensburg and served in the Army during World War II. He taught eighth grade and coached sports at Wide Hollow Elementary School for many years. He later worked for ML Pierce Realtors and became self-employed.

Survivors include his wife, Clarice Nelson; a son, Michael Nelson; a daughter, Linda Larrison, all of Yakima; a sister, Donna Minielly of Pasco; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Ellensburg IOOF Cemetery. Arrangements are by Prosser Funeral Home.

Irma Ward

Irma Ward, 96, of Yakima died Wednesday at Summitview Healthcare Center. She was born in Travellers Rest, Ky. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Illinois and Kentucky. She moved to Yakima in 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Crum of Issaquah, Wash., and Cheryl Sheek of Mancos, Colo.; a son, Jerry Ward of Yakima; two brothers, Gene Scott of Columbus, Ohio, and David Scott of Granite City, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be later this year in Illinois, where her husband is buried. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Fernando Figueroa

Fernando Figueroa, 21, of Yakima died Thursday in Toppenish. He was born in Porterville, Calif., and lived in the Yakima Valley for 16 years.

Survivors include his mother, Maria Gutierrez Figueroa of Yakima; his father, Jose Figueroa of Mexico; his wife, Melinda Rivera; three brothers, Cesar Figueroa, Jonathan Figueroa and Jose Figueroa; and five sisters, Maria Figueroa, Judith Valencia, Liliana Figueroa, Ruby Figueroa and Candelaria Figueroa, all of Yakima.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.

Laurence J. Watkins

Laurence Jonathan "Johnny" Watkins, 88, of Yakima died Friday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was born in Yakima. He farmed in East Selah for many years and also raised hogs.

Survivors include five children, Patricia Lehman of Priest Rapids, Idaho, Judy Bair of Moses Lake, Carole Valentine of Selah, Larry Watkins of Yakima and Janice Johnson of Ephrata; two sisters, Margaret Moore and Lila Gillis; two brothers, Albert Watkins and Lynn Watkins; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 15 at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at West Hills Memorial Park.
