Edward Franklin Momany, 75, of Yakima died Tuesday at home.

Mr. Momany was born in Yakima.

Survivors include three children, Janece Manees of Yakima, Norma Telford of Goldendale and Gale Grow of Naches; a brother, Dick Momany of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Ruth Momany of Pomeroy, Wash., and Maxine Momany of Western Washington; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

At his request, no services are planned. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Bertha Schroeder
Announcement dated December 10, 2009
Bertha Schroeder, 69, of Pasco, formerly of Grandview, died Monday.

Mrs. Schroeder was born in Cadereyta, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States as a child.

Survivors include five sons, Jerry, Miguel, Randy, Rodney and Steve Magallan; a daughter, Melissa Schneider; six siblings, Manuel, Ernie, Joe, Herlinda Sanchez, Janie and Betty; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be at 6 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home in Grandview. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the Grandview Cemetery.

Jarl Von Dell Strasser
Announcement dated December 10, 2009
Jarl Von Dell Strasser, 74, of Selah died Friday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

Mr. Strasser was born in Williston, N.D. He owned and operated a prosthetics and orthotics business for many years.

Survivors include his companion, Susanna Vogel of Selah; a son, Eric Strasser of Lynnwood, Wash.; three daughters, Debbie Wood of Baker City, Ore., Robin Armfield of Seattle and Ruth Strasser of Bellingham, Wash.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Berniece R. Verstrate
Announcement dated December 10, 2009
Berniece R. Verstrate, 75, of Yakima died Tuesday.

Mrs. Verstrate was born in Moxee and raised in the Yakima area. She worked as a seamstress in her own custom draperies business until her retirement.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Verstrate of Moxee and Beverly Dugan of Stanwood, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Holland Cemetery on Mieras Road. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at East Valley Reformed Church. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Joseph Roth
Announcement dated December 14, 2009
Joseph Roth, 99, of Yakima died Thursday in Yakima.

Mr. Roth was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, and moved to Yakima in 1924. He worked in a variety of jobs, including in an orchard and as a baker.

Survivors include a brother, Michael Roth of Canada; a sister, Betty Wellons of Yakima; two grandsons, a granddaughter and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, Ninth Avenue Chapel. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Dec. 23 at Cavalry Cemetery.

Emmerson D. Whitlock
Announcement dated December 14, 2009
Emmerson Dale Whitlock, 59, of Yakima died Saturday.

Mr. Whitlock was born in Oklahoma. He owned the Cove Resort near Rimrock Lake for nine years.

Survivors include a brother, Larry Whitlock of Carmichael, Calif., and a half-sister, JoAnn Whitlock of Eureka, Calif.

At Mr. Whitlock's request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home.

Elaine M. Rossman
Announcement dated December 14, 2009
Elaine M. Rossman, 63, of Yakima died Friday at home.

She was born in Seattle.

Survivors include a sister, Barbara Chisman; and two brothers, Don and Al Rossman.

A recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Langevin Musseter Funeral Home. Funeral Mass begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Holyrood Cemetery in Seattle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mark F. Brader
Announcement dated December 15, 2009
Mark Fred Brader, 49, of Yakima died Saturday. Mr. Brader was born in Toppenish. He had been a truck driver for Brader Hauling as well as in sales of campers and trailers.

Survivors include his mother, Elsene Stenberg; two sons, Brandon and Steven Brader; four brothers, Stanley G. Brader, Dean L. Brader, Mike T. Brader and Jay Brader; and four grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Terrace Heights Memorial Park. All those wishing to attend should meet at the grave. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Grace M. Lamb
Announcement dated December 15, 2009
Grace Marion Lamb, 86, of Yakima died Friday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Lamb was born in Preston, Wash., and moved to Yakima in the 1980s. She worked many years in Seattle as a licensed practical nurse.

Survivors include a sister, Sonya Sellsted of Seattle; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a private family service at a later date. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Roger A. Lukehart
Announcement dated December 15, 2009
Roger Allen Lukehart, 71, of Yakima died Saturday. Mr. Lukehart was born in Rochester, Minn., raised in San Jose, Calif., and served in the Coast Guard. He moved with his family to Yakima in 1976, where he began and co-owned Trail Wagons/Chinook with his brother.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Lukehart of Yakima; two children, Erik Lukehart of Concord, Calif., and Moriet Miketa of Yakima; a brother, Gary Lukehart of Naches; two sisters, Gloria Saffrey of San Jose, Calif., and Vivian Lewis of Grants Pass, Ore.; and two granddaughters.

A private family service will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Mina L. Azure
Announcement dated December 15, 2009
Mina Logie Azure, 83, of Tacoma died Dec. 8 at home. Mrs. Azure was born and raised in Brownstown and moved to Tacoma around 1964. She was a nurse for more than 40 years and retired from Tacoma General Hospital after 19 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Topliff and Cheryl Armenta, both of Tacoma; two sisters, Tucelia "Chub" James of Wapato and Susie Sutterlict of White Swan; and six grandchildren.

Funeral, memorial service and burial have been held. Arrangements were by Gaffney Funeral Home of Tacoma.

Viola R. Dale

Viola R. Dale, 93, of Selah died Dec. 3 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Dale was born in Fort Yates, N.D. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Simmons of Yakima and Margaret Reece of Eatonville, Wash.; a brother, John Halsey of South Dakota; a sister, Trudy Kelly of Yakima; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 22 in the Tahoma Cemetery. Arrangements are by Shaw and Sons Funeral Home.

John E. Dale

John E. Dale, 65, of Selah died Nov. 27 at home. Mr. Dale was born in Yakima. He worked at various jobs in the Yakima area and was a caregiver the last few years.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Simmons of Yakima and Margaret Reece of Eatonville, Wash.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 22 in the Tahoma Cemetery. Arrangements are by Shaw and Sons Funeral Home.

Charles Joseph Pharmer, 98, of Yakima died Sunday at Good Samaritan Health Care Center. Mr. Pharmer was born in Sharon, Pa.

Survivors include four daughters, Cheryll Lover of Yakima, Marilyn Taylor of Ellensburg, Michele Beckham of Mount Lake Terrace, Wash., and Denise Pharmer of Everett; a son, Christopher Pharmer of Yakima; a sister, Mary Van Horn of Endicott, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Sidney I. Davis
Announcement dated December 15, 2009
Sidney Irene Davis, 84, of Yakima died Friday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Davis was born in Empress, Alberta, Canada. She worked as a dental assistant and as a grocery clerk. She also worked on the family dairy farm.

Survivors include a son, Marvin Davis of Bozeman, Mont.; a daughter, Candace Manfredi of Yakima; two brothers, Dalton Mickelberry of Opportunity, Mont., and George Mickelberry of Three Forks, Mont.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside memorial services will be held in the spring. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.

Augustina G. Rodriguez

Augustina G. Rodriguez, 72, of Grandview died Dec. 3 in Prosser. Mrs. Rodriguez was born in Edinburg, Texas, and moved to Washington state as a child.

Survivors include her husband, Carlos R. Rodriguez; 11 children, Sylvia Delgado and Santos Negrete of Warrenton, Ore., Blanca Vera of Grandview, Carlos Rodriguez Jr. of Kelso, Wash., Jose Rodriguez of Aberdeen, Wash., Maria Rodriguez of Pasco, Luisa Quintero of Woodburn, Ore., Normalinda Lino of Caldwell, Idaho, Roberto Rodriguez and Jenaro Rodriguez of Yakima and Idolina Patino of Kennewick; three brothers, Nicolas Sanchez of Granger, Vincent Sanchez of Ephrata and Francisco Sanchez of Connell; a sister, Elena Barrera, also of Connell; 36 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home in Grandview. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview. Burial will follow in the Grandview Cemetery.

Gerald A. Dierdorff
Announcement dated December 20, 2009
Gerald Allan Dierdorff, 90, died Wednesday in Sunnyside.

Mr. Dierdorff was born in Loveland, Colo. He settled in Sunnyside in 1959 and worked as a general osteopathic surgeon and practitioner.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Dierdorff and Todd Dierdorff; a daughter, Barbara Hawkins; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Viewing and visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Sunnyside. Burial will be at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.

Arcelia Calvillo
Announcement dated December 20, 2009
Arcelia Calvillo, 58, of Granger died Dec. 12 in Union Gap.

Ms. Calvillo was born in Michoacán, Mexico, and lived in the Granger area for more than 20 years. She worked as a caregiver for Aging and Long Term Care.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Cruz of Union Gap; a daughter, Diana Ramos of Granger; her father, Gabriel Calvillo of Michoacán; two sisters, Eustolia Calvillo of Michoacán and Elvira Calvillo of Fresno, Calif.; three brothers, Miguel Calvillo of Sunnyside and Carlos Calvillo and Gustavo Calvillo of Michoacán; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 28 with a rosary at noon. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. in the Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Bonnie Jo Broyles
Announcement dated December 20, 2009
Bonnie Jo Broyles, 79, of Union Gap died Thursday at Landmark Care Center.

Ms. Broyles, a homemaker, was born in Commerce, Okla. She moved to Lakewood, Wash., in 2005, and then to Yakima in June to be close to family.

Survivors include seven children, Janet Sample of Lakewood, Clara Copeland of Vinita, Okla., Nathan Broyles of Carlsbad, N.M., Roger Broyles of Harrah, David Broyles of Mabton, Allan Broyles of Union Gap and Darral Broyles of Bothell, Wash.; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Monday, and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral at Merritt Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Reservation Community Memorial Park.

Allen A. Roehl
Announcement dated December 20, 2009
Allen A. Roehl, 77, of the Nile Valley died Friday at his home.

Mr. Roehl was born in New Leipzig, N.D., and moved as a child to the Sunnyside area. He served in Army during the Korean War. He worked at Hanford and moved in 1967 to Seattle, where he was a truck driver for Union Pacific Motor Freight. He moved to the Nile Valley in retirement.

Survivors include three sons, Lane Roehl of Lake Stevens, Wash., Robin Roehl of Arlington, Wash., and Kelly Roehl of Bothell, Wash.; two daughters, Stacie Gayner and Heidi Hanson, both of Vancouver, Wash.; four brothers, Ervin Roehl of Sunnyside, Reuben Roehl of Yakima, Ronald Roehl of Benton City and Dennis Roehl of East Helena, Mont.; four sisters, Evelyn Thompson of Yakima, Betty Zuvela and Verna Swearengin, both of Naches, and Eileen Olsen of Clancy, Mont.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services are being planned. Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Hanratty

Dorothy Ann Hanratty, 92, of Yakima died Saturday at Summitview Health Care Center. Mrs. Hanratty was born in Selah.

Survivors include three children, Michael Hanratty and Judy Hanratty-Vickers, both of Yakima, and Patrick Hanratty of Olympia; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Family Chapel. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Calvary Cemetery. Those planning to attend should meet at the cemetery.
