Thora Georgina Wood, 98, of Grandview died Sunday. She was born in Minneapolis, Minn. She lived in Toppenish for 58 years. In 2000, she moved to Orchard House in Grandview.
Survivors include three daughters, Janet Mains of Bickleton, Sandy Hixson of Sun City West, Ariz., and Linda Ahrens of Cannon Beach, Ore.; a sister, Marguerite Anderson of Gig Harbor, Wash.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Zillah Cemetery. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Zillah.
Karen L. Satterfield

Karen Lorraine Satterfield, 59, lifelong Sunnyside resident, died Saturday at her home. She was born in Sunnyside and worked as a bookkeeper for several companies in the Lower Valley.
Survivors include a daughter, Monica Stanton of Naches; a brother, David Satterfield of Richland; and two grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sunnyside Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel with burial to follow at the Mabton City Cemetery.
Angelica Barajas

Angelica Barajas, 20, of Grandview died Saturday.
She was born in Prosser and was educated in Grandview. She worked in the warehouse of Zirkle Fruit.
Survivors include her parents, Miguel and Rita Barajas; and two brothers, Luis Carlos Barajas and Miguel Barajas Jr., all of Grandview.
Viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Grandview. Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery.
Al Maletta

Al Maletta, 95, of Yakima died Monday at Landmark Care Center.
Mr. Maletta was born in Taylor, Wash. (near Black Diamond) and moved to Seattle when he was 8 years old. He was an accomplished musician and taught accordion for 69 years. He owned and operated 12 accordion studios from Yakima to the Tri-Cities. In 1956 he joined in partnership with Bob Deccio to form the Maletta-Deccio Accordion Studios.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Arralde and Mary Kay Anabtawi, both of Yakima; a son, Albert Maletta Jr. of Yakima; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Cathedral. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Pauline Groh Wiley

Pauline Groh Wiley, 99, of Yakima died Sunday at Crescent Health Care.
Mrs. Wiley was born in Odessa, Wash. She worked in retail sales.
Survivors include a sister, Agnes Washington of Seattle; and two grandchildren.
Private burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.
Alan R. Newbill

Alan Robert Newbill, 89, of Pasco died Monday at home.
Mr. Newbill was born near Zillah. He was an elementary school principal with the West Valley School District. After retiring from the school district, he worked for Brannom Instruments and then drove autos for Hertz of Pasco.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; two sons, John Newbill of Pasco and Chris Newbill of Richland; and one granddaughter.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Bruce Lee Memorial Center in Pasco.
Linda R. Greenwood

Linda Ray Greenwood, 52, of Yakima died Wednesday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Greenwood was born in Prosser. She was a teacher for several years in the Valley.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Greenwood; two daughters, Charity Diaz and Jennifer Charles, both of Yakima; a brother, Wayne Hawver of Yakima; two sisters, Elsie Mitchell of Yakima and Sandra Hawver of Arizona; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wiley Heights Covenant Church. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Harold R. Johnson, 84, of Ellensburg died Tuesday at Royal Vista Care Center.
Mr. Johnson was born in Killdeer, N.D., and served in the Navy during World War II. After coming to Ellensburg, he worked for the post office as a mail carrier for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Johnson of Ellensburg; three daughters, Pat Sorensen of Ellensburg, Michelle Culpepper of Snoqualmie, Wash., and Candy Erickson of Pasco; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Family Christian Center Assembly of God Church. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.
Gladys J. Moore

Gladys Janet Moore, 85, of Prosser died Tuesday at Sheffield Manor.
Mrs. Moore was born in Rolla, Mo., and moved to Grandview in 1958. She cooked for the Prosser Nutrition Program for 20 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Schaffer of Prosser; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.

Walter D. Glaspell

Walter Dale Glaspell, 67, of Prosser died Tuesday.
Mr. Glaspell was born in Walla Walla and his family later moved to Prosser. He worked for various government subcontractors on the Hanford Reservation and was a senior radiation protection technologist until his retirement in 2004.
Survivors include three daughters, Leslie Glaspell, Lisa Glaspell and Kellee Hart; a brother, Tom Glaspell; two sisters, Rita Nehls and Judy McLachlan; and two granddaughters.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Home in Grandview. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Grandview Cemetery.

Willie Mae Landis, 80, of Yakima died Monday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.
Mrs. Landis was born in Faxon, Okla. She worked as a packer in the fruit industry.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Hall of Tacoma, David Hall of Broken Bow, Okla., and Tony Hall of El Cajon, Calif.; a sister, Violet Strong of Texas; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Janice Marie Samuelson, 49, of Yakima died Wednesday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.
Mrs. Samuelson was born in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood.
Survivors include a son, Cameron Hennie; her mother, Marilee Watson; her father, William Bowling; a brother, Robert Watson; and additional siblings.

Irma J. Knudson, 95, formerly of Ellensburg, died Thursday at Ballard Care and Rehabilitation Center in Seattle.
Mrs. Knudson was born in Langdon, N.D. After moving to Ellensburg, she worked in retail sales, including Button Jewelers.
Survivors include two sons, R. Dale Knudson of Cathedral City, Calif., and Lynn Knudson of Renton, Wash.; two daughters, Karen Hamilton of Kenmore, Wash., and Marsha Knudson of Renton; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will be in High Valley Cemetery. A memorial celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 5 at the First Lutheran Church of Ellensburg. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.

Edward John Bichich, 81, of Selah died Wednesday at home. Mr. Bichich was born in Snoqualmie Falls, Wash., and had been a resident of Selah for the last 18 years. He worked and retired from the Snoqualmie Valley School District after 30 years as a mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Carmichael) Bichich of Selah; two daughters, Debbie Brickman of Selah and Christine Moore of Renton, Wash.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Zeferino Lozano
Zeferino Lozano, 40, of Yakima died Tuesday. Mr. Lozano was born in San Miguel del Rio, Michoacán, Mexico.
Survivors include three children, Hailey, Hannah and Jacobo "Hawk" Lozano of Yakima; three brothers, Lidio Lozano Jr., Narciso Lozano and Felix Lozano, all of Yakima; two sisters, Teresa Rangel of Seattle and Maggie Cooper of Yakima; his father, Lidio Lozano; and his grandmother, Carmen Garcia, both of Yakima.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. A vigil service begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday, also at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Jerriann Faye (Long, Cushing, Stone) Merkt, 50, of Yakima died Sunday. Ms. Merkt was born in Yakima. She was employed at the Yakima Credit Bureau for 10 years.
Survivors include her mother, Angela Betty Long of Broken Arrow, Okla.; her husband, Vincent Michael Merkt of Yakima; and two daughters, Mindy Cushing and Jeanna Stone, both of Seattle.
A memorial service will be at noon Nov. 21 at the Franklin Hill Foursquare Church, 2612 W. Nob Hill Blvd., Suite C, Yakima. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.

Jacob Allen Waugh, 48, died Tuesday at his home in Yakima.
Mr. Waugh was born in Culpepper, Va., and served in the Army. He moved to Yakima in 1983 and worked in construction.
Survivors include a daughter, Tiffany Spencer of San Diego, Calif.; a son, Tyson Cook of Federal Way, Wash.; his mother, Evelyn Waugh of Alexandria, Va.; a brother, Kevin Waugh of Alexandria; two sisters, Carolyn Gentry of Orange County, Va., and Bridgette Waugh of Alexandria; and one grandson.
A private memorial for family and friends will be at 5 p.m. Monday at 610 N. First St.

Mrs. Amo was born in Walla Walla and worked as a homemaker.

John Lindle Ruland, 60, of Yakima died Wednesday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Ruland was born in Seattle and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as an electrician.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Ruland of Yakima; two sons, Matthew Ruland of Marysville, Wash., and Paul Ruland of Yakima; a daughter, Julia Katherine Eke of Everett, Wash.; a brother, Ernest Ruland Jr. of Yakima; and two grandchildren.
