Nicolas Jimenez, 20, of Yakima died Saturday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

Mr. Jimenez was born in Yakima. He worked for Triumph and Gasperetti's as a cook. He also worked for Congdon warehouse as a fruit sorter.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Kimberly Hernandez and Ron McIntosh of Yakima; his grandparents, James Gary and Marilyn R. Butler Sr. of Union Gap; and two sisters, Jessica Butler and Angela Butler, both of Yakima.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Church of the Nazarene in Yakima. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Linwood B. Jones
Announcement dated October 14, 2009
Linwood B. Jones, 89, of Yakima died Monday at home.

Mr. Jones was born in Lufkin, Texas, and served in the Marines. He was stationed in the Pacific during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He later sold candy.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; a son, Ron Jones; two daughters, Leslie Hopper and Robin Rowe; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Delores J. Morrison
Announcement dated October 14, 2009
Delores Joyce Morrison, 76, of Yakima died Saturday.

Mrs. Morrison was born in Fort Benton, Mont. She worked for Associated Grocers for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Barr of Curtis, Wash.; her companion, Stephen Johnson of Yakima; a grandson and four great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Ethel A. Pettis
Announcement dated October 14, 2009
Ethel A. Pettis, 90, of Yakima died Sunday at Willow Spring Nursing Home.

Mrs. Pettis was born in Sparta, Wis., and had been a resident of Yakima for five years. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Pettis and John Duane Pettis of Yakima; five daughters, Diane Jones of Sparta, Marilyn Kirin of Chico, Calif., Arlene Pierce of Tomah, Wis., and Shirley Deurloo and Nancy Yetto, both of Illinois.

A memorial service will be Nov. 14 in Sparta. Local arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Annabelle M. Wilson

Annabelle Mary Wilson, 75, of Yakima died Monday at Cozy House Adult Home.

She was born in Toppenish.

Nancy C. Yallup

Nancy Clara Yallup, 78, of Toppenish died Monday at Toppenish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Dressing services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Toppenish Creek Longhouse in White Swan. Overnight services will be at the longhouse, with sunrise services Thursday morning at the Toppenish Creek Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

Jessica Barajas

Jessica Barajas, 27, of Mabton died Monday in Sunnyside. Mrs. Barajas was born in Sunnyside and lived in Mabton all of her life.

Survivors include her father and mother, Jesus Mendoza of Mabton and Rosalinda Rodriguez of Grandview; her husband, Lorenzo Barajas of California; a son, Jose Lorenzo Barajas; three daughters, Lucia G. Barajas, Brianna Barajas and Kayla M. Barajas, all of Mabton; two brothers, Rolando D. Mireles of Sunnyside and Jesus Jose Mendoza of Mabton; and a sister, Elizabeth Mireles of Sunnyside.

Recitation of the rosary will be at 6 p.m. today at Valley Hills Funeral Home of Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview. Burial will follow in the Grandview Cemetery.

Kaylynn Hodgins
Announcement dated October 15, 2009
Kaylynn Hodgins, 21, of Selah has died.

Ms. Hodgins was born in Yakima. She worked at Whirlpool Call Center and as a tutor at Yakima Valley Community College. She had also worked at Target and at JH Productions with her brother.

Survivors include her parents, Jeanie and Dan Knox of Selah; four siblings, Josh Hodgins of Yakima, Chris Knox, Lisa Raap and Shaun Knox of Selah; and grandmothers, Mabel Moore of Selah and Millie Knox of Yakima.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Burial will follow in West Hills Memorial Park.

James E. Farrell
Announcement dated October 16, 2009
James E. "Jim" Farrell, 86, of Ellensburg died Tuesday at home.

Mr. Farrell was born in Ellensburg and served in the Army during World War II. He was employed in management positions at Ellensburg Telephone Co., now Fairpoint Communications. He was also involved in local theater management.

Survivors include his wife, June Farrell; two sons, Mark Farrell and Tim Farrell, both of Ellensburg; two daughters, Colleen Grady of Normandy Park, Wash., and Terese Robbins of Carlsbad, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at First Lutheran Church, Ellensburg. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.

Lilyan V. Jones
Announcement dated October 16, 2009
Lilyan Viola Jones, 92, of Moses Lake died Monday.

Mrs. Jones was born in Coleman, Alberta, Canada, and became a U.S. citizen in 1944. She also lived in Pasco, Boise, Idaho, and Sunnyside before moving to Moses Lake.

She worked as a billing clerk at Franklin County PUD in Pasco until a forced medical retirement.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Morehouse of Toppenish and Lois Kincaid of Moses Lake; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Kayser's Chapel in Moses Lake.

Cirilo E. Reyes
Announcement dated October 16, 2009
Cirilo E. Eusileo Reyes, 53, of Yakima died Tuesday at Parkside Nursing Care Center in Union Gap.

Mr. Reyes was born in Toppenish and served in the Marines. He worked in the construction industry.

Survivors include his mother, Rosie R. Reyes of Yakima; his father, Eusileo Reyes of Kelso, Wash.; three sisters, Rachel Castaneda of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rowena Najera of Mill Creek, Wash., and Vicky Gonzalez of Yakima; and two brothers, Mark Reyes of Longview, Wash., and Paul Reyes of Kelso.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today. A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Sunday and the funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday. All proceedings will be at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. Burial will be in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Walter J. Lilley

Walter "John" Lilley, 67, of Prosser died Tuesday at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland. Mr. Lilley was born in Alameda, Calif., and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. In 1988 he moved from French Camp, Calif., to Sunnyside where he worked for Walco International as a baker for Safeway and Wal-Mart. He had lived in Prosser for the past two years.

Survivors include a daughter, Morgan Rose Veliz of Prosser; a son, Travis Lilley; his wife, Ivel-lee Lilley, both of Grandview; and a sister, Marilyn Haines of Madera, Calif.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Prosser Funeral Home.

Jan I. Johnson
Announcement dated October 16, 2009
Jan I. Johnson, 57, of Ellensburg died Wednesday at Royal Vista Care Center. Mr. Johnson was born in Prosser and served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a carpenter/engineer in Theater Arts and trade shows.

Survivors include his mother, Kathryn L. Johnson; and a sister, Verna Carlstrom, both of Richland.

An information memorial gathering for friends and family will be at 1 p.m. Monday at The Tav, 117 W. Fourth Ave., Ellensburg. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.

Bernard M. Maier

Bernard "Bernie" M. Maier, 83, of Selah died Thursday. Mr. Maier was born in Spalding, Neb., and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He moved to Yakima when he was a young boy. He worked as a yard laborer for a cement company until his retirement in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Elba M. Maier of Selah; his daughter, Debra Brady of Yakima; a sister, Margaret Stelling of Benton City; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

No services are being planned at this time. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Robert Byers
Announcement dated October 16, 2009
Robert "Bob" Byers, 52, of Yakima died Wednesday. Mr. Byers was born in Omaha, Neb.

Survivors include his wife, Toni R. Copeland Byers; a son, Brock Byers; his father, Donald Byers; brothers, Dennis Byers of Oklahoma City, Okla., Scott Byers, Lenny Byers, Kelly Byers and Rogers Byers of Omaha, Neb.; sisters, Debbie Hamon, Valerie Granholm and Donna Peterson of Omaha, Neb.

Services will be held in Omaha, Neb., at a later date. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Chan B. Madsen
Announcement dated October 17, 2009
Chan B. Madsen, 76, of Yakima died Friday. Mr. Madsen was born in Salina, Utah, and retired from the military.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Madsen of Yakima.

At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.

Georgia I. Parmenter

Georgia Irene Parmenter, 86, of Naches died Thursday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center. Mrs. Parmenter was born in Decatur, Neb. She worked as a cook.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Smith of Cowiche; a sister, Marie Reece of Naches; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.

Eula M. Smeltzer

Eula Mae Smeltzer, 80, of Surprise, Ariz., died Wednesday. Ms. Smeltzer was born and raised in Yakima. She moved to Arizona four years ago.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Ellen Tuttle of Wickenburg, Ariz.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. A graveside funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery.

Robert W. Marek
Announcement dated October 17, 2009
Robert William Marek, 72, of Yakima died Monday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Marek was born in Seattle and moved to Moxee in 1972. He owned and operated his own retail grocery store before retiring in 1998.

Survivors include four sons, Robert Marek of Moxee, Steve Marek of Charleston, S.C., Dan Marek of Seattle and David Marek of Yakima; and five grandchildren.

Private family services will be held. Arrangements are by Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors.

Janice E. Woolen
Announcement dated October 17, 2009
Janice Elaine Woolen, 72, of Yakima died Thursday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Woolen was born in Yakima. She worked over 40 years as a travel director for Aristocrat Caravaners, Good Sam Travel Club and The Alpenlite Travel Club, retiring in 2002.

Survivors include two sons, Eric Woolen of Pensacola, Fla., and Don Smith of Selah.

Private graveside service will be in Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Clyde J. Stimpson
Announcement dated October 18, 2009
Clyde J. Stimpson, 87, of Wapato, died Wednesday. Mr. Stimpson was born in Riverdale, Utah, and grew up on a farm in Heyburn, Idaho.

He worked for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs and the U.S. Department of the Interior, retiring as director of the Fort Simcoe Job Corps Center at White Swan.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Stimpson; three daughters, Shawn Glenn of American Canyon, Calif., Nicea Gedicks of Orem, Utah, and Coy Heaton of Orangevale, Calif.; two sons, Bren Stimpson of Provo, Utah, and Shanon Stimpson of Wapato; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Toppenish. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.

Burial will be at Heyburn Riverside Cemetery in Idaho.
