Gregory Curtis Henry
Greg Henry, born January 1, 1959, a life long resident of Tacoma, died October 3, 2001.
He is survived by his father and mother, Pat and Audrey; brothers, Charles and James; sister, Jennifer; nephews, Joshua and Jerrid; niece, Jamie; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and fiance Donna Mudge.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2001 in the Mt. View Valley Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Franciscan Hospice.

George F. Dohrer
July 27, 1904 - September 30, 2001
George F. Dohrer passed away peacefully at Franciscan Health Care Center in Tacoma, WA on September 30th.
George was the devoted companion, for more than 25 years, to Grace Lawrence, who lives at The Village.
He had a loving relationship with Grace’s children, Susan McDaniel of Pacifica, CA; Robert Lawrence of Portland, OR and Charles Lawrence Jr. of Albuquerque, NM.
He is also survived by his stepdaughters, Patricia LaFontaine and Virginia Newstrom.
George was the owner of the Washington Cab Company and was employed by Yellow Cab until he was in his 90’s. He was a “Friend of Bill W.” for over 50 years and helped build that foundation in Tacoma, WA.
George will be missed though his memory will remain alive in the many lives he has touched.
A private family memorial service was held for George.

Katharine (Kate) E. Monroe
Katharine, born January 9, 1910 in Maidstone, Kent, England to Charles and Theodosia Edbrooke, died October 4, 2001 at age 91.
After graduating from the University of London in 1932, she taught school in the north of England for four years.
She then came to America through the English Speaking Union and taught in Ohio, Kentucky and New York, where she met and married her husband, James Monroe.
They came to Tacoma in the 1950’s where she taught at Annie Wright Seminary for many years and then went on to teach French at PLU until her retirement.
Retirement found Kate at Elderhostels around the Northwest and volunteering at McNeil Island, Purdy, Remann Hall, the City Jail, teaching French to children at Central Lutheran School, and teaching a variety of classes in the “2nd Wind Program” at PLU.
Her door was always open to those who needed tutoring or brushing up on their French.
Kate was a longtime member of the Thursday Eliot Club and the French Club of Tacoma.
She is survived by her sister- in-law, Shirley Edbrooke; nephews, Charles and Paul, and niece, Sarah Edbrooke and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Edbrooke her brother in England, her sister Betty Marcus in S. Africa and her husband James Monroe in 1970 in Tacoma.
Services will be held at St. Luke’s Memorial Church, 3615 North Gove St., Tacoma on Wednesday, October 10 at 1:00 p.m. with reception following in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Pacific Lutheran “Q” Club, or Franciscan Hospice, who provided Kate with such caring service.

Leonard G. Bishop
Leonard G. Bishop, longtime resident of Tacoma, died on October 2, 2001.
He was 88 and living with his daughter and family in Sherwood, Oregon.
A celebration of his life will take place in Tacoma on Friday, October 12, at 1 p.m., in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Memorial Park.
Mr. Bishop was born on March 3, 1913 in Port Arthur, Ontario.
His family immigrated to Tacoma when he was ten.
In 1936 he married Gwendolyn Walker. She died in 1993.
During their fifty-six years of marriage Len and Gwen raised two daughters, Joyce and Gerry.
Joyce died in a car accident in 1964, at age 22.
Leonard joined the Tacoma Police Department in 1944, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1970.
During the mid-seventies, Len and Gwen moved to the Shelton area fulfilling a lifelong dream of owning a successful mom and pop grocery store on Hood Canal.
In 1991, they moved to a retirement community in Wilsonville, Oregon, to be near family.
Survivors include his brother, Robert E. Bishop of Bellevue; his daughter and son-in-law, Gerry and Chuck Thompson; grandson, Joseph and nieces and nephews.
Remembrances can be made to Legacy Visiting Nurses Association of Portland, Oregon.
Their services were an integral part of the final care for Leonard and Gwen.

Nathan Reed Johnson
Nate Johnson, born March 13, 1983 in Sedro Wooley, WA, passed away at his Raft Island home surrounded by family and friends on October 3, 2001.
Nate served as Senior Class Senator and an officer in the Meistersingers.
Teachers and classmates alike describe Nate’s keen wit, friendly nature, positive attitude and love for his family as inspirational.
Nate enjoyed hiking, mountaineering, art, and working on his mustang muscle care with his dad.
Active in Scouting, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout at age 15.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, his actions, love for his friends and family and hope for the future were built upon his testimony of Jesus Christ and the Heavenly Father. He is survived by his parents, Raymond and Corlaine Johnson, Gig Harbor; brothers, Brennen Johnson and Tanner Brown serving a church mission in Mississippi; a sister, Sienna Brown; brother- in-law, Richard Madison; grandfather, Ivar Johnson; along with uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.
Nate was preceded in death by his first mother, Charlotte Johnson (1986) and brother Drew Johnson (1998).
Please join the Johnson’s at Nate’s Memorial service to be held on Monday, Oct. 8, 1 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12th and Pearl, Tacoma.
Graveside dedication to follow at 3 PM, Haven of Rest Cemetery, Gig Harbor.
Flowers may be sent to the church one hour before services or donations made to the Johnson Family Fund at any Columbia Bank.

Ted Keller
Ted Keller, 86, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2001.
Ted, a retired engineer for Nalley’s, served in the U.S. Army in WWII as a Master Sergeant.
He served under General Marshal at the Pentagon.
Ted’s courage and valor earned him the prestigious Legion of Merit.
Ted was a highly decorated hero of WWII.
After the War, Ted married Evelyn Brown and they made their home in University Place.
Ted was active in his church, having helped build St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
He was a member of the Tacoma Elks #174, American Legion and the Tacoma Outboard Association.
Ted enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening and showing family and friends his massive Lionel train collection.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn and leaves behind his companion, Vera Dyment and many family members that will miss him dearly.
Ted was a kind and gentle man and will be missed by all that knew him.
At Ted’s request there will be no services.
Inurnment at Calvary Cemetery.

The Family of Frank W. “Wally” Farron
Would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to those who paid their respects with beautiful flowers, comforting cards and notes, donations to their favorite charities, especially the generous donations to the Tacoma/Pierce County Humane Society, and to those who attended the Memorial.
We were overwhelmed by the sheer number of lives touched by his passing and sincerely appreciative of the many thoughtful gestures.

Robert Crowe

Bob was loved and respected by all who knew him.
He was a member and trustee of Celebration Center, Puyallup, and a production manager at KOR Recycled Packaging.
He is survived by his wife Christine, sister Deb Crowe of Seattle, brother Richard of Kentucky, and mother Elvira Brooks of Ohio.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 8th at 1:00 pm at Price-Helton funeral chapel, 702 Auburn Way N. in Auburn.
A benevolence fund has been established through Celebration Center, P.O. Box 73848, Puyallup, WA.

Steven C. Gillihan “Beloved Son”
Steven was born on Aug. 4, 1948 and passed away Oct. 2, 2001 in Tacoma, WA.
He is survived by his mother, Gloria Rehak; sisters Karen Wilson of Sequim, WA, Glennice Gutierrez of Texas; two sons, Steven Gillihan Jr. of Texas and Tony Gillihan of Tacoma, WA.
Steven was preceded in death by his father Curtis and brother John.
A visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001 from 11 AM till 9 PM at Mountain View Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, Oct. 8, 2001 at Mountain View Memorial Park.
