Eyanthy Karalis, 96, passed away September 12, 2001. She was born in Hora Crakis, Turkey, and had been a Tacoma resident since 1928. She was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Survivors include her brother, Ernie Condon, and niece, Esodia Condon, both of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2001 at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 1523 South Yakima, under the direction of Lynn Funeral Home (253) 272-2131. Hazel (McFarlen) Petersen
(Baby, Susie) "Dancing with Dad"
Hazel was born on Dec. 8, 1924 in Granville, ND. She passed away on Sept. 12, 2001 in Tacoma, WA. She was a loving mother of Mary Ellen Kintz (Chuck), David Alan Petersen, Elaine Petersen. She is grandmother to Ben David Doolin (Evelyn), Pete Douglas Doolin (Christy), Sean Shequin, Joshua Lynn Petersen; great-grandmother of Jeffrey, Nicole, Alex, Leena; sister of Mary Jenson. Preceded to heaven by her loving husband, Lynn Ernest Petersen, and siblings Tennie, Mina, Roy, Ray, Kenneth. Mom cherished her family and loved life; she danced, grew flowers, taught Sunday School, hiked, worked in the school lunch room, was a checker, gardener, nanny and caregiver. She received her high school diploma when she was 44 years old. A service for Hazel will be held on Monday, Sept. 17, 2001 at 11 AM at Mountain View Garden Chapel. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Tacoma Rehab and Dr. David Lukens for their loving care of Hazel. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home. 584-0252.

Robert S. Greene, Sr.
In memory of our beloved husband and father, Robert Sterling Greene, Sr. of Burien, WA, who went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2001. A WWII veteran in the Marine Corps, awarded the Purple Heart for heroic service. He graduated from University Iowa School Pharmacy in 1954. He worked for the State of Washington from 1961 until retiring in 1986. He played string bass professionally and enjoyed skiing backpack hiking, traveling, family vacations, Nintendo, AA activities, and was a connoisseur of coffee. He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Stafford-Greene; children Robert Jr., Rebecca Stinson and Kathi (Jim) Kester, and the Stafford boys, Howard (Karen), Lester (Robin) and Leland (Sun); sisters Betty Sides, June (Norman) Jessen, Ellie (Gene) Tingwald; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation to be held on Saturday from 9 AM until 5 PM at Yarington’s Funeral Home, 10708 16th Ave. SW, Seattle. Funeral service at 11 AM, Monday, September 17, 2001, at Grace Conservative Baptist, 10323 28th SW, Seattle. Committal service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.

John N. Diamond
John N. Diamond went home to be with his Lord on September 12, 2001. Loved by his family: Inge, Trudy, Anita, John, Kat and Maria. Opa to Ricky, Anita Mei, Micheal, Chad, Krista, Maria, Davey, John, and Opa to 3 great-grandchildren; an aunt, nieces and nephews in New York. Kurtis Jerry Pryor, age 10, was born May 28, 1991 in Federal Way, WA, and died September 9, 2001. He enjoyed his motorcycle, rollerblades, video games, as well a hiking, camping, swimming and biking. Kurtis is survived by his parents, Steve and Sharon Pryor of Auburn, WA; sister Krystal M. Pryor of Auburn, WA; grandparents Jerry Pryor of Kent, WA, Bob DeGeorge and Marion DeGeorge, both of Auburn. Memorial services will be Saturday, September 15, 2001, 11:00 AM at Price Helton Funeral Home, 702 Auburn Way N., Auburn, WA. Memorial donations may be made to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma or Wells Fargo Memorial Fund for Kurtis Pryor. Arrangements by Price Helton Funeral Home, 253-833-1165.

Martha Margaret Doyle
Martha M. Doyle was born November 1, 1916 in Bemidji, MN, and passed away September 10, 2001, with her family at her side in Tacoma, WA. She was a loving mother and friend. Martha was a care giver and staff aide at Heritage Nursing Home for 28 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Doyle. Martha is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Pevey and her husband Dallas of Tacoma, WA, Lenore Doyle and her partner Beth Johnson of Olympia, WA, Diana Bass of Tacoma, WA, Rosemary Hopkins and her husband Gerald of Puyallup, WA; sister Dorothy Aasvid; half-sister Helen Foss and half-brother Eric Foss of Bemidji, MN; 9 grandchildren, Karen, Brenda, Chad, Renae, Vicci, Johnny, Teresa, Kevin, Deanna; 12 great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Chris, Michael, Jimmie, Cody, Bret, Brandy, Tara, Ciji, Jerod and Cameron; 3 great-great- grandchildren, Kelsey, Andrew and Noah. The family extends their deep appreciation to Dr. Jay Zatzkin and his incredible staff at the Allenmore Oncology Unit for the care of their mother and the support of her family. Viewing will be 11 AM-9 PM Sunday, September 16, 2001 at Mt. View Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Monday, September 17, 2001 at Mt. View Valley Chapel. Patty Cvitovich, 52, died September 12, 2001 in Tacoma. A lifetime Tacoma resident, she was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and attended Aquinas Academy and WSU. Patty was a woman of many artistic abilities, whose true pride and joy was being a mother and a wife. Patty is survived by her husband Tom; children Katherine Ann, Amy Lee, Martin John; parents David and Marie Poe; sisters Pamela (Allen) Schmid, Janet (Dave) Boyer; father-in-law Stephen Cvitovich; brother-in-law Steve (Lani) Cavit; cousins Linda (Michael) Resetar, John (Nancy) Kendziora; and numerous other relatives. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 17, 2001, 11:00 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Vigil service will be held Sunday, September 16, 2001, 7:00 pm at the 1002 South Yakima Avenue Chapel. Viewing all day Sunday at the funeral home. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Age 74, of Bonney Lake, died September 11, 2001. She was born May 29, 1927 in Anacortes to Lawrence and Josephine Larsen. Iola was a longtime member of Granite Falls Eagles. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. She will be missed by her husband, Lloyd Hernstedt of Bonney Lake; children Vicki Hanson of South Prairie, Rick Hanson of Puyallup, Sheri (Robert) Williams of Bonney Lake, Lori (Larry) Sargent of Auburn, Michelle (Ed) Stocklin of Olalla; sister Audrey (Em) Sitetz of Puyallup; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A time of visitation will be held Monday, September 17 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, followed by memorial services Tuesday, September 18 at 1:00 pm, at Powers Funeral Home, Puyallup.
