George W. Weber
George W. Weber, 47, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998 of an apparent cardiac arrest. Born in Hoboken, NJ, he came to Tacoma in 1985. He was director of Fund Operations and Administration for the Frank Russell Company. "George had a profoundly positive impact on Frank Russell Company and will be missed greatly by those who knew him and worked with him", said Michael Phillips, C.E.O. of Frank Russell Company. Survivors are wife Antoniette of Tacoma; son Brian; sister Charlene Gerleit (Robert) in New Jersey. George's professionalism, fellowship, business judgment, companionship and friendship will be forever missed by those who knew him. Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday (TODAY) at Mt. Michael L. Valentine, 39, passed away June 20, 1998. Born in Illinois, he had resided in the Sedro Woolley area the last 8 months since moving from Spanaway. Michael worked in the timber industry the last 8 years, most recently working for the Asplund Company the last 10 months. Member of I.B.E.W. Local #77. Survivors: loving wife Brenda; sons Joseph Ryan and Jeffrey Michael; parents Norma and James Valentine; brothers James, Kirkland and Troy. Stanley W. Harding
Stanley W. Harding, 80, of Tacoma passed away July 23, 1998. Born in National City, CA, he resided here all his life. He worked for Wonder Bread, then Mueller Harkins Buick. He had his own shop for several years, Parkland Auto Repair, then retired from Pierce County as a heavy duty mechanic. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church for 40 years. Survived by his wife, Frances (nee Peddersen Tuel) Harding; son Stanley Harding Jr.; daughters Darlene (Thomas) Norton, Marlene (Thomas) Saunders; and brother Wesley Harding, all of Tacoma; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren. Special thanks to an Angel, Dr. Catherine Richardson, for her loving and compassionate care. Services Saturday, June 27, 10 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 626 So. 86th, Tacoma, WA 98444. A memorial donation in Stanley Harding's name may be sent to the church. How could we have known that morning, God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly and in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same. But as God calls us one by one the chain will link again.

William Berry Thomasson
William Berry (Bill) Thomasson, Sr. was born March 17, 1926 in Ivanhoe, VA, to Clyde and Ethel (Cochran) Thomasson. He died June 23, 1998. Preceded in death by infant daughter Virginia Lee Thomasson. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Evelyn (Eleam) Thomasson; three children, Mary Angelita (Brian) MacPherson of Kentucky, William Berry (Lauri) Thomasson, Jr. of Indiana, Evelyn Rebekah (Thomas) Brown of Washington; six grandchildren, Shirley and Timothy Hubbard, Bradley MacPherson, Kevin Brown, Aaron and Benjamin Thomasson; four great-grandchildren, Mitchell and William Harrison, Shannon and Breanna Hubbard; one sister, Helen Price, and two brothers, Harold and Robert Thomasson, all of Illinois. Bill served thirty years with the United States Air Force and twenty years with the United States Postal Service. He was baptized into Christ in 1951 and dedicated his life to helping others. Edna M. (Peggy) DeMars
Edna DeMars passed away June 19, 1998 at Park Rose nursing home in Tacoma. She was born December 15, 1904 in Philadelphia, PA, to George and Edna Callanan. She grew up in Rosedale and Tacoma. Edna graduated from Lincoln High School and the Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing. Upon graduating from nursing school, she joined the U.S. Navy as a Navy Nurse. She served at Mare Island in California and the Bremerton Naval Hospital. Edna left the Navy in 1928 to marry Clarence DeMars of Tacoma. However, she continued with her nursing career until after the 2nd world war. She and Clarence had two children, Patricia Adams and Shirley Crase. Her husband Clarence and daughter Shirley preceded her in death. She was a long time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Tacoma. After retirement she enjoyed gardening, serving as a volunteer for the Democratic Party, and spending time with her family. Edna is survived by daughter Patricia, son-in-law William Adams, 7 grandchildren: William Patrick and Joy Adams, Scott Adams, Christopher Adams, Robin and Mark Tilton, John and Min Schlarb, Jennifer and Keith Beard, Tim Crase; and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 27, 1998, 12:00 pm at Calvary Cloisters Chapel. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Gaffney Cassedy Allen and Buckley King Funeral Home.
