Frances L. (Hepburn) Moore
Frances Louise Moore passed away on June 26, 1998. Born in British Columbia, she had been a Tacoma area resident since the age of two. She was an Internal Revenue Service employee until her retirement. Preceded in death by husband A.O. Moore in 1946. Survivors include daughter Heather West (husband Richard) of Auburn, WA; son Norman Moore (wife Marion) of Milton, WA; five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. No services at her request.

Donald Keith Brewsaug
gh Donald K. Brewsaugh, 80, died peacefully in his home Friday26, 1998. Survivors include Esther Allie Brewsaugh, his wife of 59 years; four daughters, Gayle Dorman (Bill) of Mason Lake, Jan O'Brien (Jim Horrigan) of Tacoma, Christy Brewsaugh of Portland, and Barbara Denny (Roger) of Mason Lake; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Don is also survived by one sister; three nieces and two nephews. His sister, Marian, married Roy Murphy in Tacoma; they now reside in Victor and have two sons, one daughter, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Brewsaugh, a resident of Tacoma since 1936, was born in Des Moines, Iowa on December 20, 1917. He moved with his family (his father a railroad man) to California for 11 years and then to Tacoma, where he met his bride-to-be, Esther Allie. Don and Esther married on July 25, 1939 at Mason Methodist Church. Don's business was primarily photography. He worked for Eastman Kodak Stores in Tacoma and Seattle, Ray's Camera Shop at Tacoma Mall, and Northwestern Drug Company, where he managed the camera department. He was a member of the Young Men's Business Club and the Pot and Kettle Club in Tacoma. He served 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and 6 years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a ground and aerial photographer, including stints in Bremerton, Pensacola, Cherry Point, North Carolina, and the Aleutian Islands. He was a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He moved from business to law enforcement later in his career, becoming a Deputy Sheriff with Pierce County Sheriff's Office. He served as an Identification Officer until he retired from the Sheriff's Office in 1983 after 15 years of duty. He was a member of the Association of Retired Law Enforcement Officers of Pierce County. Mr. Brewsaugh was preceded in death by parents Leah Brewsaugh and Clyde J. Brewsaugh; his sisters-in-law, Muriel Allie Brown and Edith Allie Selden; and his nephew, Frank W. Selden. A prize-winning photographer, Don was also an avid skier, bowler, golfer and tennis player. He was an enthusiastic bird watcher and belonged to the National Wildlife Federation. He enjoyed fishing throughout his life, some fresh water but with a special love for salmon fishing. He had a passion for photography, the writings of Ernest Hemingway, and the art of Ansel Adams. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, brother and uncle, grandfather and great grandfather, a man who whistled his way into our hearts. The family suggests memorials to the Frank W. Selden Memorial Fund (care of Immanuel Presbyterian Church) at (253) 627-8371 or to Alzheimer's research. Services are 1 pm Thursday, July 2, at Mountain View Garden Chapel, with Chaplain James G. Williams of Pierce County Sheriff's Office officiating. Viewing is available Wednesday, July 1 from 11 am to 9 pm.

Herman L. Kohla
Herman L. Kohla, born June 13, 1913, died June 28, 1998. Herman lived in Tacoma most of his life and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He belonged to the Tacoma Sportsmen's Club, Gig Harbor (Life Member) and Bremerton Gun Clubs, and participated in all events at each club he was affiliated with. He is preceded in death by wife Elsie, son David Pyne, mother Josephine Kohla, brothers Henry and Joe Kohla, sisters Wanda Rataezk and Emelia Baumbardner. Survivors include sister Mary Taylor and brother-in-law Ralph, along with many nieces and nephews. Services are 11:00 am Wednesday, July 1, 1998 in Mountain View Garden Chapel. Interment in Mt. View Memorial Park. Remembrances can be made in Herman's name to the Gig Harbor Gun Club or to your favorite charity.

Hilde E. Moir, 77, a Gig Harbor resident for 30 years, died June 26, 1998. She was a member of Discovery Baptist Church. Visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2 at Haven of Rest Funeral Home, Hwy. 16, Gig Harbor, followed by Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m.

Luella Ruby Crismon
Luella R. Crismon was born June 11, 1919 and passed away June 27, 1998 in Tacoma, WA. She enjoyed various crafts, was a member of the Calvary Temple Church, Good Samaritan Adult Day Health Center and the Lighthouse Senior Center. Survivors are daughters Linda Russell and Dorothy Almquist; sons James Crismon, Carl Camp and Carl Almquist; sisters Marie E. Vian, Ellen (Nellie) Madson, Evelyn (Annie) Seick; and a brother, Alfred F. Camp. She is also survived by the families of those mentioned above. Viewing will be held Wednesday, July 1 from 11 AM to 9 PM. Services will be Thursday, July 2 at 11 AM in Mt. View's Garden Chapel. Interment will take place in Mt. View Memorial Park. R.K. "Dick" Dun
nn R.K. "Dick" Dunn, 80, of Fountain Hills, AZ, died June 21, 1998 aran Hospice Home of Gilbert, AZ. Born February 28, 1918 in Kenosha, WI, Mr. Dunn retired in 1984 as Vice President and General Manager for West Coast Grocery (now SuperValu) of Tacoma, WA, after 18 years with the company. He worked as a real estate broker in Hawaii, Scottsdale and Fountain Hills, AZ. Mr. Dunn graduated in 1942 from the University of Wisconsin. He worked as a foreman at Lakeside Bridge and Steel Company for eight years before serving as staff sergeant in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific for two years. He worked for Johnson & Johnson in Oregon for eight years. A long time resident of Lakewood, Mr. Dunn lived in Hawaii for five years after his retirement, then moved to Arizona in 1989. He was a devoted husband and father. He also enjoyed golf and was an avid Arizona Rattlers arena football fan. Survivors include his wife, Charli of Fountain Hills, AZ; son Matt Baldauf of Phoenix; daughters Kathy Plantz of Salem, OR, and Sarah Baldauf of Chinle, AZ; and two granddaughters and two great grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Friday, June 26 in Mesa, AZ. Interment will be at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Mabel Josephine Lo
oe Mabel Josephine Loe was born Sept. 22, 1914 and went to the Loune 25, 1998 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born in Bottneau, ND, and came to Tacoma in 1934 to marry Otto C. Loe of Norway. She and Otto remained in Tacoma, raising three children of their own. She is survived by her son, Leif Loe and wife Peggie of Gig Harbor; her daughters, Barbara Miller and husband Ken of Tacoma, and Roseanne Rybolt and husband George of Steilacoom. She enjoyed her many grandchildren and several great grandchildren. As a "foster mom", she helped raise two other daughters, Alene and Patty. She sold Avon and worked as the bookkeeper for her husband's printing business. She was a very hospitable and gracious lady. She will be missed by family and friends. Graveside services to be held on Thursday, July 2, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the New Tacoma Cemetery on Chambers Creek Road W.

Joseph Francis Moro
oz Joseph Francis Moroz, born Jan. 27, 1917 in Butte, MT, departlife to be with his Heavenly Father on June 29, 1998, preceded in death by his beloved wife, Easter B. Moroz (Loffer) and his dear step-sister, Josephine (Doe) Tomko. Joseph moved to Washington in the late 30's and took a job with the Tacoma A.S.A.R.C.O. Smelter in 1941. Joe retired from the smelter after 36 years. His tenure was interrupted by a tour in the U.S. Army as a Surgical Technician and was a veteran of WWII. Joe was a member of the Tacoma V.F.W. where he participated in local events. Joe was a member of the Tacoma Power Squadron and more recently the Ruston Senior Center. Joe was very active in the center and met a special dear companion, Lillian St. John, who also has departed. Joe Moroz is survived by a daughter, Mary Jean Godber (Moroz); a son, Johnny F. Moroz; a son-in-law, Charles A. Godber; 3 grandchildren, Christine L. Fritsch (Godber), David A. Godber and Lynsey A. Moroz; 3 great-grandchildren, Sarah M. Fritsch (Stansbury), Sheryl L. Fritsch (Stansbury) and Daniel A. Godber, who will forever miss their poppy and the kindness and love he shared with them. Joe is also survived by a beloved sister and brother, Helen Day and Victor Moroz. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 2, 1998 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home. Services will be on Friday, July 3, 1998 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Garden Chapel.

Len Richards Thomas Leonard
Richards, 87, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 26, 1998 in Snohomish, Washington. He was born on October 11, 1910 in Vancouver, B.C. and lived in Tacoma, Washington most of his life. He retired from the Tacoma Post Office as a supervisor after 42 years. Len was an army veteran of World War II and a Past Master of Ancient Landmark Lodge #268. He was a member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors, the Episcopal Church, and a long time member of the YLA Club, Inc. Len enjoyed his home, family, friends, world wide travel, model railroading and was a long time supporter and involved parent of the Tacoma Swim Club. He was a kind, gentle, polite and unassuming man who was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He always placed the needs of his wife, children, grandchildren and friends before his own. He lived his life as a reflection of his values and the things which were important to him, which have now been passed on to his children and grandchildren. He will be missed beyond measure. Len married Betty (Kuhl) on May 17, 1941 and was preceded in death by her after 56 years of marriage. He is survived by his children and daughter-in-law, Chuck Richards of Beaverton, Oregon; Bruce and Karen Richards and Shirley Slade of Snohomish, Washington; his brother Jack Richards of Vancouver, Washington; and eight grandchildren, Torrey, Andrea, Kimberly, Stacy, Corby, Crystal, Paul and Scott. Ruth Ferol Black
Ruth Ferol Black, 72, passed away June 26, 1998. She was born Jan. 25, 1926 in Poplar, MT, and has resided in the Tacoma area for 52 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Black. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Phillips of Tacoma, 5 grandchildren, brothers Lionel and Ski Flynn, both of MT, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services Thursday, July 2, 1998 at 1:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup. Interment will follow in Sumner Cemetery.

Stephen Arthur Kendall
Stephen Arthur Kendall, 74, passed away on June 25, 1998, doing something that he loved, hiking in the Olympic Forest. He was born in Spokane, WA, on October 12, 1923 and was a graduate of Orting High School's Class of '41. He was a member of the China-Burma-India Veterans Assn., and also the American Legion Post #167 of Orting. He enjoyed hiking and reached the summit of Mt. Rainier at the age of 62. He also enjoyed fishing, organic gardening and music. He lived in both Pierce and Thurston counties for many years. He is survived by his 3 children, Barry (and Barb) Kendall, Anne(and Mike) Strobel, and Dave Kendall; his grandchildren, Jeff (and Melissa) Strobel, April Kendall and Lisa Kendall; and great granddaughter Jordyn Strobel. Steve is also survived by close friend Dorene Rutter, and was married to Kathleen Kendall for 47 years. He is survived by brothers Don Kendall and Bob Kendall, and by sisters Joan Bruce and Rosalie Busz, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. On Sunday, July 5, at 2 PM, all friends and family are welcome to attend a gathering to remember Steve at 2821 107th Ave. E. in Edgewood, WA.
