William A. Thompson
William (Bill) A. Thompson, 81, long time resident of Lakewood, passed away peacefully on April 9, 1998. He is survived by his wife Jean, his sons Steven & Jason and daughter, Valerie. There will be no services at Bill's request.

William Allerton Sparling
William A. Sparling was born December 4, 1920 in Sault St. Marie, MI and passed away April 5, 1998 in Lakewood, WA. He served in the US Army for 24 years and retired as a correctional officer from the federal prison at McNeil Island. He is survived by his wife, Caroline Sparling, a son, David, a daughter, Katherine and two sisters, Patricia and Isabel. A Rosary will be held at the St. John Bosco Parish, 10508 112th St. SW, Lakewood, Tues., April 14, 1998 at 7 PM. A Memorial Mass will be at St. John Bosco on Wed., April 15 at 11 AM with graveside services to follow at 1:30 PM in the Mt. View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Franciscan Foundation for St. Clare Hospital, PO Box 2197, Tacoma, WA 98401-2197. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home. 584-0252.

William Guy Gallegos
William G. Gallegos, 38, of Tacoma, died April 11, 1998. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Sharon and Jess McMahan; brothers, Benjamin of Tacoma and Robert of Redmond and Jim of Tacoma. He was preceded in death by his father, Chris. Memorial services Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Dryer Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Adam M. Boehm
Born July 1, 1915 in Mandan, ND, died April 1, 1998 in Olympia, WA.
Served in the Army in WWII. Long time resident of Tacoma, Summit Lake and Lacey, WA. Retired from Safeway Stores in 1973. Survivors include wife Louisa; stepchildren Anita Cyr, Dennis Freed and Gayle Boehm; sister Eva Karls; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 18th at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Lacey, WA.

Beverly Elizabeth Berven
Beverly Elizabeth Berven returned to our Father in Heaven on April 9, 1998. She was born in in New Zealand on Nov. 18, 1924. During WWII, she served in the Royal New Zealand Airforce. Beverly came to the United States in 1945 where she proudly became an American citizen. She married Joseph (Sid) Berven and and moved to Tacoma where she and Sid shared 53 years of love and laughter. Beverly was completely devoted to her family, always putting their welfare first. She was preceded in death by brother Owen Buzby and her parents, all of New Zealand. She leaves behind her husband Sid, daughter Lynette (Jerry) Fremont, son Philip (Susan) Berven, grandson William Howard (Jennifer) Pratt, granddaughter Kelly Berven, and great granddaughter Victoria L. Pratt. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and was affectionately known as "Gram" to Bill and Kelly, and as "Gram - the Greatest" to Victoria. Beverly will always be remembered for her wit, intelligence, kindness and her unconditional love for her family. Memorial services will be held at Mason United Methodist Church, 2710 No. Madison, on Monday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made to Franciscan Hospice of St. Joseph Hospital.

Florence M. (Peterson) Tocchini
Florence M. Tocchini, age 84, passed away in El Cerito, CA, April 8, 1998. She was born in Tacoma, but was a long time California resident. She was preceded in death by parents C.A. "Pat" Peterson and Bertha, brothers Mose, Chet and Don and sister Frances. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Tuesday, 1pm, Fir Lane Memorial Chapel. Interment Fir Lane Memorial Park.

Larry Olson

Born in Conrad MT, he attended school in Valier in a one room school house with a hitching post for a horse. Moved to Pt. Orchard in 1942 and joined the Merchant Marines in 1944 until WWII ended. Married Irene Faster in 1950. Went on to own his and his brother Don's own trucking business and later on Olson truck and Equipment Sales in Fife. He enjoyed boating, motorcycles, snow birding in Arizona, life, friends, and most of all family. He was a member of the Teamsters 313, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Coast Guard Auxiliary and as the Commodore of Tacoma Yacht Club in 1989. Survived by wife of 47 years Irene, sons Jerry (Donna), Dennis, David and daughter Karen. Grandchildren, Heidi, Eric, Dennis, Dorian, Nicole, James, Shawn and Andrea. Brother, Dick (Olga), Don (Lorraine) and Dale (Brigetta), numerous nieces and nephews and one great-grandchild. He was a generous and caring man and there are not enough words to describe what Larry has done in his lifetime for each and everyone that knew him; for he brought joy, laughter (ole & svenn jokes) and most of all love. We will miss him dearly. Memorial services at Tacoma Yacht Club, Wed., April 15, 1998 at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Shriners' Hospital for Children in memory of Larry Olson, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Rd., Portland, OR 97201. He is survived by his Mother: Jene Harrington-Tacoma. Adoptive Family: Jack & Jackie Walters, Wendy & Martina. Brother-Tommy, Sisters-Ruth, Lorena, Lois, Rachel, & Mary, Aunt-Eliana, and Special Friend-Erin. He was preceded in death by his loving grandmother, Betty Jane Eleanor Johnson in 1995. Ruth E. Langren
September 7, 1909 - April 10, 1998,
Ruth E. Langren, 88, of Tacoma, passed away peacefully ather home. Born in Ashland, Wisconsin and moved to Tacoma in the early 1930s. Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Melvin Langren and Granddaughter Connie and Great-Granddaughter Brianna. She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Woodrow (Elaine) Blair, Robert (Sharon) Langren and daughter (best friend) Patricia Anderson. Grandchildren, Melvin (Diane) Blair, Don (Bonnie) Blair and Gary (Debbie) Blair, Lori (Don) Chavez, Deborah Langren (boyfriend Robert Cowen and daughter Alisa), Denise (David) Landis, Diane (Sal) Nuno, Cheryl (Tony) Pappas, and 11 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews, and her very special friend Delores Blair. Private graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 16th, with memorial services at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at 4pm, same day. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Foege, Pastor Tengesdal, Aunt Marge Johnson, and the Hospice Staff from Multicare. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, Multicare Hospice, or Emmanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Andrew Eugene Gilliam
Andrew Eugene Gilliam (Andy), age 77, died on April 8, 1998. Andrew was born on January 7, 1921 in Tulsa, OK, and spent his childhood in Sedalia, MO. Andrew served his country for over 20 years. He fought in both the Korean War and WWII. He served 8 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and 12 years in the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from the military in 1964, he worked as a cartographer at the U.S. Defense Mapping Agency in St. Louis, MO. When he retired there, he and his wife settled in Tacoma, WA, for several years where he owned and operated the Blue Pelican Sign Company. He is survived by his wife, Stella, of 50 years; his sons, Dennis Gilliam, Chris Gilliam and Allen Gilliam; his daughters, Susan Elliott and Sandra Marthaler; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one son, Arthur Gilliam. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions can be made to the Fort Lewis V.F.W. in his memory. Graveside service with Full Military Honors will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 13. Anyone is welcome to attend. Arrangements by daughter Sandra Marthaler (253-984-1299).
