William Douglas Brines
William Brines, 53, passed away Nov. 28, 1996 in Shelton. Born April 23, 1943 in Chehalis to William F. and Anita M. (Burlingame) Brines. He graduated from Weatherwax H.S., Aberdeen in 1961. He attended Washington State Univ. and the Univ. of Puget Sound earning a B.A. in Business Administration and minored in Economics. He was employed in forest products industry. He enjoyed boating, sports, collecting antiques and many outdoor activities. Survived by wife Ann Louise (married July 2, 1965), children Kendra Glover, Michele Crow and Tim Brines, his parents, brothers Gayle Hornell and Bruce Brines, 4 grandchildren, 4 nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Providence Sound Home Health Care and Hospice or Univ. of WA Cancer Research Center.
Zelia (Pat) Larsen
Zelia (Pat) Larsen, 78, passed away Wed., Nov. 27, 1996 in Olympia. She was born Jan. 20, 1918 in Hurricane, Utah to Alpheous Hartley and Maude Haycock. She was a graduate of Hurricane H.S. in 1936. She married John S. Larsen, Jr., June 4, 1938 in Salt Lake City, UT. She was self-employed with her husband John, running a successful vacuum cleaner and sewing machine center in Longview, WA 1955-1980. She was a member of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in Gig Harbor. She enjoyed homemaking, camping, cooking, family outdoor activities and sewing. She is survived by her husband of Olympia; children, Jack Larsen and Maureen of Gig Harbor, Margaret A. Falter and David of Olympia, Robert R. Larsen and Shay of Gig Harbor; brother Eldean Hartley, Salt Lake City, UT; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 4 nieces and nephews. Visitation at Haven of Rest Funeral Home, Hwy 16 Gig Harbor, Tues., Dec. 3, 1996, from 3-8pm. Funeral services Gig Harbor 1st Ward L.D.S. Church, Dec. 4, 1996, 2pm. Debra Jean Gregory
Debra Jean Gregory, 45, of Seattle, born November 10, 1951 in Tacoma, died November 26, 1996 in Seattle after losing a courageous battle to leukemia. A 1970 graduate of Mt. Tahoma High School, she retired from Pacific Northwest Bell/US West after 25 years. Beloved daughter of Ethel P. Woods, Tacoma and Ernest Gregory, Sr., Dayton, OH; sister of Ernest Gregory, Barbara Williams and Doris Clough; mother to Faraji and Olujimi; auntie of Sabrina and Stavon Williams and Adam Clough. She volunteered at NW Harvest during Thanksgiving to help feed the homeless. Her devotion to friendship and her loving spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 1996 at BONNEY-WATSON 1732 Broadway Seattle, WA
Thelma G. Eklund
Thelma G. Eklund, 84, passed away November 28, 1996 in Tacoma, WA. Born on March 6, 1912 in South Dakota, Thelma had resided in the area for 50 years. Thelma was preceded in death by husband Leslie O. Eklund Sr. Survivors include son Les Eklund (Mary), Gig Harbor; brothers, George Greenfield, (Tucson, AZ) and Clifford Greenfield (Northfield, MN) and numerous nieces and nephews. A gathering at the graveside will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 1996 at 2:00 P.M. in New Tacoma Cemetery. Arrangements by Tacoma Funeral Home and Cemeteries 564-1311.
Anne V. Brink
Anne V. Brink, 83, of Tacoma, died at Allenmore Hospital on Sunday, January 18, 1998. She was born in Issaquah, Washington on July 2, 1914 to Martin and Valentina (Chiotti) Forniglia, was raised in Renton, and lived most of her adult life in the Tacoma area. She attended Lincoln High School in Tacoma. Her strong faith was pervasive throughout her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She worked side by side with her husband in Brink Music Company, the Coffee Pot Restaurant on South Tacoma Way, the Pleasant Valley Cafe in Auburn, the Inferno Restaurant on 74th and Pacific Avenue, and Town & Country Brokers, Inc. in Spanaway. Later in 1981, she and Ralph retired to their Cattle ranch in Spanaway, where they spent many pleasant years together. During her life she immersed herself in her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, gardening, cooking, dancing, reading, and her many close friends. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Ralph, of 58 years, and is survived by her two sons, Don (Yvonne) and Terry (Kerry); her six grandchildren, David (Marika)Brink, John (Sheila) Brink, Dean Brink, Deborah Brink, Michelle (Randy) Sweem and Clinton Brink; and four great grandchildren. She was looking forward to the birth of her fifth great grandchild. Also, she is survived by her friend and companion, Anita Hoggard, who helped make her last years of life very enjoyable. She was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. The family expresses their appreciation to everyone at the Weatherly Inn, where she lived the last five and one-half years of her life. Blanche B. Hebing
Blanche B. Hebing passed away peacefully on January 19, 1998. Born in Iowa May 14, 1898, she moved to Tacoma in the early 1920s. She was preceded in death by sisters Jessie Hebing Arensmeier in 1995, Hazel, and brothers, Clinton, Clyde and Glenn. Blanche is survived by nieces Phyllis (Robert W.) Olsen, of San Francisco, Wilma, Pearl and Thelma; nephews, Lawrence, Leo and Wilburn; grand-nephews Randle and Lindsay and families. Blanche led a long and active life (loved golfing) and was devoted to her loving family and friends. At Blanche's request there will be no formal services. Carl E. Jangord
Carl E. Jangord, 79, died at his home on January 13, 1998. He was born on May 18, 1918 in Tacoma, and attended Stadium High School and the University of Washington. He loved music and was active in many local musical organizations. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24, beginning at 12:00 noon at the Tyee Hotel off I-5 exit 102 in Tumwater.

Curtis Ricky Jones, Jr. was born March 4, 1978 in Spokane, Washington to April May Brown and Curtis Ricky Jones, Sr. He departed this life to live eternally on January 14, 1998. David Ian Dickson, 17, born in Olympia, WA. Feb. 29, 1980 passed away at his home Jan. 19, 1998. David passed away of Neimann-Pick Type C. He is survived by his mother Betty Dickson, Milton; grandparents, Freida and Robert Martin, Robert and Canadette Dickson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins. Elmer E. Marks
Elmer E. Marks, born Aug. 20, 1923 in Wausaw, WI, passed away Jan. 16, 1998. One of ten children born to Jacob and Augusta Marks, leaves sister Elaine Lampinen, Atlantic Mine, MI. He settled in the Northwest after tour of duty in Army Medical Corps in WWII serving in Europe. He worked at logging, Alaskan Railroad, catskinning in Neah Bay, and lastly for H.L. Arndt Construction Co. A memorial service will be held Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. at Jovita Baptist Church in Edgewood.

In Memory Of Walter B. Young
Walter B. Young, a long time resident of Tacoma, passed away Friday, January 9, 1998, at the American Lake Veterans Hospital after a long illness. Now he joins the Chorus of Heavenly Angels with his beautiful voice. Born in Camden, New Jersey, on February 24, 1916, he served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII in overseas combat, receiving many ribbons and medals. Walter also served in the National Guard and worked at the Tacoma Asarco Smelter Refinery for 25 years. Surviving are: his wife of over 53 years of marriage, Eileen Young of Tacoma; son Walter D. Young ofTacoma; daughter Patricia M. Sears of Spanaway; 5 sisters; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
