Barbara Edith Williams
Barbara Edith Williams, age 88, born October 24, 1908 in Tacoma, WA. passed away peacefully November 25, 1996 in Seattle, WA. A life long resident of Tacoma, Barbara worked as a Registered Nurse in several area hospitals. She loved her family, cats, gardening and laughter. She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert, brother George McLeod, sister Dorothy Allen. Barbara is survived by her daughter Jane Eberle (Roland Maiuro); son Louis Williams (Jane); sister Elizabeth Bankhead; grandchildren Daniel, Rachel and Rebecca Williams. Funeral service Friday, November 29, 1996, 10am at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home, 11,111 Aurora Ave. N., Seattle.Private burial will be held at Fir Lane Memorial Park, Spanaway, WA. The family wishes to thank On The Beach Adult Family Home for their loving care. Memorials may be made to PAWS.

Charles M. Tillery-Palmore
"Budda" Budda, 2 , born in Tacoma on Feb. 24, 1994, passed away at his home on Nov. 27, 1996. He is survived by his mother, Linda Tillery; father, Charles Palmore; grandparents, Ellen Tillery and Eddie Palmore; great-grandparents, Lorraine Banks and Kathrine Williams; brothers, Thomas and Shawn Tillery; sister, Dominque Palmore; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services Tues., Dec. 3, 11 a.m. at Tuell-McKee Funeral Home. Graveside will follow at Haven of Rest. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Linda Tillery c/o Tuell-McKee Funeral Home, 2215 6th Ave., Tacoma, 98403. 272-1414.

Dana Joynes Peterson
After an extended illness, Dana passed away on Nov. 20, 1996 at St. Joseph Hospital. Family and friends will remember Dana as a very courageous and kind person, blessed with a great sense of humor. Dana was born Feb. 27, 1971 in Alexandria, VA. She attended Peninsula High School, where she was a member of the Drill Team. She was actively involved with the Gig Harbor Christian School. When possible, she enjoyed camping, backpacking, cross country skiing and sailing. Dana requested that the staff and friends at Gig Harbor Christian School and St. Joseph's Renal Center be thanked for their support and kindness. Dana is survived by her husband Aaron and daughter Brittany of Gig Harbor; parents Barry and Ruth Joynes and Grandmother Marie Baldauf all of Lacey; brother Brian, wife Sylvia, Travis, Kaylena of Tigard, OR; Gary and Cindy Peterson, Aaron's brother-in-law and sister Mike and Jennifer James of Gig Harbor; Melanie Peterson of Arvada, CO; and Aaron's grandparents Eline Jensen and Jerry and Evelyn Scholer of Tacoma. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in memory of Dana on Sunday, December 8, 3pm at the Gig Harbor Christian Church. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, donations are now being accepted for the "Dana Peterson Scholarship Fund" at the Gig Harbor Christian School.

Eleanor H. Kerns
Eleanor H. Kerns, 83, born Dec. 12, 1912, in Billings, MT, passed away Nov. 26, 1996, in Lynden, WA. Eleanor was a registered nurse at American Lake VA Hospital, for over 34 years. She supported various charitable organizations. Survivors include her son, James F. Kerns (Maudie); grandson, J. Michael Kerns (Debra); granddaughter, Kathryn L. Kerns-Blakely (Steve); great-grandchildren, J. Matthew and Natalie M. Kerns. A private graveside service will be held. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home. 584-0252.

Erhardt Knittel
Erhardt Knittel, 90, born February 3, 1906, in Heilbron, SD, passed away November 25, 1996. Erhardt was a teacher and school principal at Concordia Lutheran School for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hulda and 2 great-grandchildren. Survivors include his children Rene' Knittel and his wife Violet, James Knittel and his wife, Jeralee and Barbara Gapol and her husband, Joe; 6 grandchildren, Dale Knittel and his wife Teresa, Cindy Hadaway and her husband John, Timothy, Elizabeth, David and Shawn; and 5 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11:30am, Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996 at Mt. View Memorial Park, and memorial services will be held at 1:30am, Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996 at Zion Lutheran Church, 3410 6th Ave., Tacoma. Donations may be made to the Concordia Lutheran School, Tuition Assistance Fund, 202 E. 56th St., Tacoma, WA 98404. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home. 584-0252.

Eugene Henry
Eugene Henry, age 68, of Sea Tac, passed away November 26, 1996. He was born January 14, 1928 in Ada, Oklahoma. Mr. Henry is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Marion L. Henry, of Sea Tac; stepsons Kenneth White, Seattle, Donald White, Puyallup; stepdaughter, Linda Holbrook, Ramona, California; stepgrandchildren, Robert James White, Byron White, Natallie Holbrook; brothers Edward, Hop, Dee and Aubrey Henry; sisters Irene Smith, Devine Issacs and Irma Jean Blackwell. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral Services will be Friday, November 29, 1996, 2pm at the Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home 11111 Aurora Ave. N., Seattle. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park, Seattle.

Gene E. Pettyjohn
Mr. Pettyjohn, 59, died Nov. 26, 1996 at home in Redding. He was born Sept. 30, 1937 in Indio, CA and moved to Shasta 8 months ago from Tacoma, WA. He retired as a Air Traffic Controller for the FAA. He was a of the US Air Force Veteran, he was also a charter member Elks Club Sparks, NV and National Wildlife Riflemens Assoc. He is survived by his wife Edyth of Redding; son Steve of Bonney Lake, WA; daughter Sandy Schneider of Olympia and Sherry Tomt of Enumclaw; brother Jim Pettyjohn of El Campo, CA; mother Faye Pettyjoyn of Redding; 7 grandchildren.

Grace G. Prichard
Grace G. Prichard, 97, of Auburn died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1996 in Auburn. She was born Jan. 17, 1899 in San Francisco to Edward and Alma (Meagher) Simmons. She was the great-granddaughter of Michael T. Simmons, the Leader of the first party of white settlers in Washington State. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Dowd of Bellevue; sons Charles Prichard of Tacoma, Jim and (Dolores) Prichard of Seattle, Ted and (Barbara) Prichard of Auburn; a brother Charles Simmons of San Francisco; sister Ida of Seattle; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and special friends and supporters, Marie Flint and Andree' Gronning. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Prichard a retired Chief Planner and Estimator at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. She and her husband were residents of the Kitsap County area near Bremerton for nearly 50 years. She was a member of Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington State, Music and Arts Foundation, "DAR" (Elizabeth Ellington Chapter), and Mystic Rebekah Lodge 168. She had worked for Puget Sound Hearing Aids in Tacoma in later years. She retired at the age of 85. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebratedat Holy Family Catholic Church in Auburn, Sat, at 1pm Nov. 30, 1996. Interment will be in Gethsemene Cemetery in Federal Way. Visitation will be from 9am-8pm on Friday at Price-Helton Funeral Chapel in Auburn. If desired, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Herbert A. Hansen
Herbert A. Hansen, born Jan. 15, 1922, died Nov. 26, 1996. Memorial service at Spanaway Assembly of God, Sat., Nov. 30, 1996 at 10 a.m.

Howard James Mack
SFC. Howard J. Mack, departed this life on Nov. 22, 1996, in the V.A. Hospital at American Lake. Howard was born to Earl and Laura Mack in New Madrid, MO on Nov. 21, 1921. He attended school in New Madrid. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Edna Mae King on June 16, 1942. This union lasted until his death. Howard joined the U.S. Army in 1942. After spending 20 years in the service, he retired in 1965. Howard worked for Brown and Haley for 19 years. Howard was preceded in death by 2 sisters (Margarett and Frances Mack) and brother (Harold Mack). Howard leaves to mourn a loving, devoted wife of 54 years, Mrs. Edna M. Mack. Visitation will be held on Fri., Nov. 29, 1996 from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. at Tacoma Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Sat., Nov. 30, 1996 at 1 p.m. in the Chambers Creek Chapel located at New Tacoma Cemetery. Burial will take place in New Tacoma Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements by Tacoma Funeral Home and Cemeteries. 564-1311.

Shannon K. Beckham
Shannon Beckham, 57, of Tacoma, died November 25, 1996. Shannon was a talented artist who enjoyed giving her art work to others and was skilled in teaching leathercraft. She was a devout Christian and a loving and thoughtful mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Wayne Kluever of Washington, Dirk Alf of Oregon, Kathleen Pullar of Snohomish, WA, Suzette Bowen-Snyder of Reno, NV; brothers and sisters, Patrick Paquin, Russ Paquin, Michael Paquin, Gary Paquin, Patricia Ballman, Chris Paquin, Robert "Gus" Sands, Chuck Larson, Richard Larson; six grandchildren. Funeral services Monday, 12:00 Noon at Mt. View Valley Chapel. Visitation Sunday, 2-5pm at Dryer Mortuary. Burial in Mt. View Cemetery, Auburn. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Hospital Burn Unit. Arrangements by Dryer Mortuary.

Alfred O'Dean Swindahl "Al"
Al Swindahl was born December 8, 1935 in Tacoma, Washington. He passed away at his home on November 24, 1996. Al was a business man in Tacoma for the past 28 years. He owned and operated Chassis Components Corp. Al has been responsible for building some of the fastest drag cars in the world. Acceleration to 315 mph in less than a quarter mile. His automobile career started in the 1950's. Drag racing with their first car built by Al and his brother Carl. He began building race cars in his garage at home. As business increased, he moved into a refurbished ice house, and later to the present location on South Madison. Aside from building race cars he loved to drive his 1932 Ford Roadster that he built and ride his Harley Davidson. Al and Leslie have recreation property east of the mountain where they loved to ride snow machines. Al was president of Driftwood Acres Development in Ronald, Washington. Al is survived by his wife of 18 years, Leslie, his brother Carl, two nephews Brian and Darrin and family of Tacoma. His sister Claudia Parham, niece Geraldine and family of Satsuma, FL. Also many wonderful and dedicated friends. Special thanks to our family and friends who showed us unconditional love and support. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30, 1996 at 1pm, Mt. View Garden Chapel. Flowers appreciated or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
