Lois Freda Extine

Lois F. Extine, passed away Friday August 26, 2005 at the Burton Care Center in Burlington, WA at the age of 84 years.
She was born February 6, 1921 in Brooks, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of George and Rose Berry Clark.
Lois came to Sedro-Woolley as an infant attending school and later worked as a telephone operator in Sedro-Woolley and Burlington.
Lois was married to Clyde Extine in 1937 in Sedro-Woolley and he preceded her in death in 1994.
She was known as the Yodeling “Lois K.” Cowgirl with the Bar-X-Buckaroos Band and she also sang with Smiley Burnett and on KBRC Radio.
Lois was an active member of the Church of God of Prophecy and sang and played piano and guitar for their worship services.
She and Clyde, during their marriage enjoyed traveling in their motor home to Arizona and she was known as an excellent cook.
She is survived by her son Charles Extine and his wife Patsy of Renton, WA and a daughter Doreen Livengood of Ferndale, WA. 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
A sister Cleo Johnson of Hoogdahl and a brother John Rowland and his companion Hazel Huff of Sedro-Woolley.
Lois was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jean Extine.
Memorial Services will be Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 11:00AM at the Lemley Chapel with Pastor Roger Jones of the Church of God of Prophecy officiating.
Inurnment will be at a later date at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
Esben Hansen

ESBEN HANSEN, 80, a former Sedro-Woolley resident passed away on Friday August 19, 2005 in Everett, WA, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 22, 1925 in Gassum, Denmark, the second oldest of eleven children of Lars & Bertha Hansen.
Esben started baking at the age of 14, baking until he was called to serve in the Danish Army during WW II.
In 1952 he and his brother, Ove immigrated to Canada.
In 1955 he was united in marriage to Karen Nielsen in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and they soon after moved to Bellingham, Washington. In 1961, along with their 3 children they moved to Sedro-Woolley where Esben purchased the Sedro-Woolley Bakery, which he operated for many years.
He baked wonderful Danish pastries and breads for the community for many years until his retirement.
In 2002 Esben & Karen moved to Washington Oaks in Everett.
Esben was blessed with many friends and well liked throughout the community.
He was a member of and past commander of the George Baldridge Post 43, American Legion; he also belonged to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Danish Brotherhood, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Sedro-Woolley Rotary Club.
Esben was preceded in death by his parents, Lars and Bertha, 2 brothers, Ove & Peter and 2 sisters, Tova & Anna.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen.
His children and their spouses, Connie & Jerry Compean, Dean & Dena Hansen and Susan & Mike Schuetze. 7 grandchildren, Kortney, Brandon, Craig, Adam, Leslie, Lindsay and Melissa and 2 great-grandchildren, Skylan & Olivia. 1 brother, Knud and 5 sisters, Esther, Karen, Elsie, Klara & Eva.
Esben’s family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Daniel Goodman & Dr. David Stoller for the outstanding care given to Esben, and also to Pastor Walt Rice & Pastor Roiko for their support & prayers.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
Graveside Inurnment services with military honors will be held at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery on Tuesday August 30, 2005 at 2:00 pm followed by a memorial service at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 3:00 pm with Pastor Walt Rice officiating.
Local arrangements under direction of Lemley Chapel.
Robert Ray Shuler
Born in Andrews, No. Carolina on Feb. 19, 1943

Robert Ray Shuler, our loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather was suddenly taken by a car accident on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 near Sedro-Woolley, at the age of 62 years. He was born February 19, 1943 in Andrews, North Carolina, the son of Glenn and Pauline Hardin Shuler.
Bob grew up in Sedro-Woolley attending school and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1961.
He was married to Billie Jean Evans in 1962.
Bob worked as an upholsterer for Wally Tresner out of high school and continued in that trade while working for Bendix Corporation until 1981 when he suffered a debilitating back injury that forced him to early retirement.
Bob’s biggest joy was his family; he somehow always found a solution for everyone else problems, but his own.
He had a warm and a huge heart and he often greeted everyone with a big smile. Bob was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors.
He had a passion for his flower garden.
More than anything else, Bob enjoyed watching the local Elk population at dusk, his favorite time of day.
Almost every evening you could see him riding around on the back roads of town.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Billie Jean Shuler and his children Bill Shuler, Kerry Shuler, and Kellie Beto, all of Sedro-Woolley. 6 grandchildren Morgan, Maegan, Mikel, Tiffany, Landon, Larissa, and 2 great grandchildren Colby and Christopher.
Brother Bill Shuler and his wife Nora of Sedro-Woolley and a sister June Bolam and her husband Bob of Federal Way.
He was preceded in death by his father Glenn in 1966 and his mother Pauline in 2004.
Graveside Inurnment Services will be Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Greenhills Cemetery in Burlington with Pastor Leon Meyer of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating with a reception to follow at the Masonic Temple in Sedro-Woolley. Visitation will be Sunday, August 28th from 1:00 PM to 5:00PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
Richard Eugene Fox

RICHARD EUGENE FOX, 76, passed away in Burlington on Saturday, August 27, 2005.
He was born on January 2, 1929 in Sylva, North Carolina, the son of Raymond and Bessie Jameson Fox.
Richard was the owner and operator of Fox Transfer and Storage.
He enjoyed good food and his family.
He is survived by his children Debbie, Linda, Barbara, Darlene, Rick Christine and Laurie. Grandchildren, Chris, Jesse, Marty, Jamie, Jeff, Robert, Nick, Kim, Jason, Daniel, Jack, Jeremy, Ashley, Phillip and Derek. His great-grandchildren, Sera, Shelby, Kyle, Trevor, Marty, Carson, Hunter, Mikel, Bobby, Danielle, Allison, Jack and Macey. His siblings, Ernest, Elbert, Raymond, Melita, Annie and Ethel.
He was preceded in death by his wife Paula Betty, and his parents,
Graveside services were held at the Hamilton Cemetery on Monday, August 29, 2005 with Pastor Dan Hull of the Clear Lake Baptist Church officiating.
Services and arrangements were under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
Terry Ann Wineck
Born in Overton, TX on Jan. 14, 1949
Departed on Sep. 29, 2005 and resided in Conway, WA.

TERRY ANN WINECK, 56, a resident of Conway, passed away on Thursday September 29, 2005 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, WA.
She was born on January 14, 1949 in Overton, Texas the daughter of Claudious Archer and Nellie Louise (Skaggs) Powell.
She was well educated, graduating from high school with honors, and was well versed.
Terry loved to travel.
She had a very kind heart and was always willing to help those in need.
She will always be loved and missed.
Terry is survived by her 3 sons, David and Jerry Metheny, both of Tyler, TX and Robert Rowe of Conway, WA.
Her mother, Nellie Honzell of Overton, TX. 2 sisters, Patty York of Overton, TX and Barbara Merwin of Valdosta, GA.
A special thank you to Doug and Michelle Hurley and their children, Tristan and Kaitlyn.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday October 2, 2005 at 5:00 pm at the Station House Restaurant in La Conner, WA.

Beulah B. Benham

Beulah B. “Dora” Benham, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA at the age of 81 years.
She was born November 25, 1923 in Grassmere, WA, one of ten children of Paul and Hilda (Goddard) Vanderhoof.
Dora grew up in the Concrete area attending school and was married to Jesse Poe in 1940 in Hamilton and he preceded her in death in 1962.
She later married Harry Benham in 1964 in Coeur D’ Alene, ID and he preceded her in death in 1986.
Dora resided in Seattle for many years and worked as a Records Manager for the Washington State Highway Department for 20 years, retiring in 1985. In 1994, she moved back to the Skagit Valley, making her home in Burlington.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, caring for her pets, and she was a longtime member of the Eagles Aerie #1444 Auxiliary in Concrete.
Dora is survived by her four children: Luvena Groves and Jeanne Russell both of Burlington, LaLona McCready and her husband David of Lebanon, OR, and Lonnie Benham and his wife Jackie of Springfield, OR. Eleven grandchildren Dale Klinger, Dean (Erin) Klinger, Lori Russell, Tamy Canniff, Sandy Vargas, Adam (Susan) Groves, Tiffany Williams, Garrow Benham, Andrew, Aaron, Arica McCready, and eight great grandchildren.
One sister Mary Glen of Seattle and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Jesse and Harry, seven brothers Paul, Ernie, Earl, Elton, John, Howard, Harold, and one sister Myrtle.
At Dora’s request there will be no services.
Inurnment will be at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete.

Danny Lee Cabe

DANNY LEE CABE, 63, a lifelong resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at Providence Hospital in Everett, WA.
He was born on December 1, 1941 in Sedro-Woolley the son of Leland and Betty Davis Cabe.
He was raised and attended schools in Sedro-Woolley and won the State Wrestling Championship in 1958.
In 1959, Danny enlisted in the U S Army and spent three years serving his Country.
Danny worked as a logger, a pile driver and iron worker.
He was forced into early retirement due to work injuries and multiple sclerosis.
He was united in marriage to Joan Hall on May 1, 1993 in Lyman, WA.
His hobbies were building and redesigning cars [Fords of course], and the faster the better.
That red and white streak you saw was just Danny taking another person for a ride in his Cobra.
The car has won him numerous trophies and ribbons in car shows.
Danny had a favorite phrase he used all the time “I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.”
He is survived by his wife Joan at the family home, 3 sons, 4 daughters and 3 step-children; Jimmy Cabe and his wife Mary Lou of Sedro-Woolley, Jackie Karper and her husband Terry of Sedro-Woolley, Tammy Holt and her husband Tony of Concrete, Patty Anderson and her husband Brent of Sedro-Woolley, Tonya Melton of Sedro-Woolley, Steve Weed and his wife Shari of Buckley, WA, Scott Weed of Kirkland, WA, Debbie Jordan and her husband Tommy, Kevin Carnes, both from Georgia and Michael Carnes and his wife Gayle of North Carolina.
He also leaves behind 23 grandchildren, 7 great-children, and 2 sisters Patsy Pittman and her husband Harold and Jeannie Halverson and her husband Leonard, both of Sedro-Woolley, and his dear friend and cousin Mike Osborne and his former wife of 30 years, Mildred Wiggins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Donna Queen.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2005 at 11:00 A M at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Ron Deegan of the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon officiating.
Interment will follow at the Lyman Cemetery with Military Honors provided by George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion.
