DELINA M. “CHAT” BERGQUIST, 79, a former Sedro-Woolley resident passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2003 at the Life Care Center of Mount Vernon.
She was born on January 1, 1924 in Amesbury, Massachusetts the daughter of Joesph and Susan McGuinness Chatigny and was raised and attended school in Exeter, New Hampshire.
In 1945 Delina enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in California. She was united in marriage to Gerald Edwards in California and in 1946 they moved to Seattle. In 1955 they moved to Burlington. Delina went to work at Northern State Hospital in Sedro-Woolley in 1957 where she was employed as a nurse and where she received her LPN license. She worked there until its closure. She also worked at the Skagit Valley Convalescent Center in Sedro-Woolley and at the Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood.
In 1962 she married Floyd Bergquist and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley. For the past year Delina has made her home at The Bridge in Mount Vernon where she was very happy and content. Delina enjoyed her friends and family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley.
She is survived by her son, George Edwards and his wife Phyllis of Sedro-Woolley; her daughter, Grace Roeder of Mount Vernon. 3 grandchildren, Andy Edwards and his wife Alisia, Courtney Wegner and her husband Ray and Russell Roeder and his companion Christie Davis. 3 great-grandchildren; Amanda and Aiden Edwards and Kira Roeder; 3 sisters, 2 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. 2 husbands, 1 sister and 2 brothers.
The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2003 at 2:00PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Rosalie Robles of the Federation of Christian Ministries officiating. Suzanne May Gadbois
Born in Mount Vernon, WA on Jan. 10, 1947
Departed on Mar. 24, 2003 and resided in Mount Vernon, WA.

Suzanne M. (Fortin) Gadbois, a lifetime resident of Mount Vernon died unexpectedly Monday, March 24, 2003.
She was born on January 10, 1947 to Nap and Marintha Fortin, she graduated from Mount Vernon High School and married Larry Gadbois.
They made their home in the Clear Lake area where they raised 5 children and ran a custom meat operation for 23 years. Farming was also a large part of her life and she enjoyed driving tractors.
In the early 90’s she began a career as a rural postal carrier in the Mount Vernon Post Office and was relocated to the Burlington office.
Suzanne loved animals, horseback riding, fishing and camping, however, nothing gave her more pleasure that her family. She was very proud of her children and loved their friends as her own, choosing to be a second Mom to many. Her employees never remained that for long, they became family. She was a loving woman full of strength, grace and faith and will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Nap Fortin and Marintha Peabody, father and mother in-law Arthur and Gean Gadbois, sister in-law Carrol Gadbois, step brothers Van and Andrew Peabody and grandson Jeffrey Moffet.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Larry Gadbois, her step father Dwight Peabody, children MarySue and Kyle Moffet, Tami and Tony Swanson, Rena Eagleburger and Rob Prokos, Julie Gadbois and Nathan Gadbois. Her grandchildren Amber Moffet, Dalton Swanson, Victoria and Carroline Eagleburger, and Taylor Prokos, step-brother Tim Peabody, step-sister Eve Peabody, brother and sister-in-law Darrel and Jan Gadbois, nephews Dennis and Dale Gadbois, niece Laura Hull, their children and numerous surrogate daughters and sons.
Memorials are suggested to the Clear Lake Fire Department, PO Box 186, Clear Lake, WA 98235.
Memorial Services are being held Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 4:30 PM at the Community Covenant Church, 12605 Hwy 9, Clear Lake, WA.
Cremation arrangements under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

Eleanora A. Carpenter

Eleanora A. Carpenter a longtime resident of Lyman, WA passed away Monday, March 17, 2003 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA at the age of 90 years. She was born August 25, 1912 in Franklin, North Carolina the daughter of Robert and Mattie Greenwood Williamson. Eleanora has been a resident of Lyman for the past 53 years coming here from North Carolina. She enjoyed gardening and most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Eleanora is survived by her daughter Margie Conard of Lyman and 3 step children Nina Garrnett of Goodlettsville, TN, David Carpenter of New Orleans, LA, and Susie Henderson of Las Vegas, NV. 3 grandchildren Gordon Conard of Lyman, Jill Saxton of Yakima, and Kathy Close of Sedro-Woolley and 4 step grandchildren. 6 great grandchildren Amanda, Megan, Kaysie, and Cody Saxton of Yakima and Riley and Amy Conard of Sedro-Woolley and 2 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Grady in 1995, her parents, and 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Graveside Services will be Friday, March 21, 2003 at 11: 00 AM at the Lyman Cemetery with Pastor Ron Schenk of the Lyman Baptist Church officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Lyman Baptist Church. Arrangements and Services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

Gladys I. Queen

GLADYS I. QUEEN, 91, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away Friday March 14, 2003 at the Mira Vista Care Center in Mount Vernon.
She was born on September 27, 1911 in Willetts, North Carolina, one of nine children of Hanley & Parlee (Dills) Gunter. She was raised and attended school near Sylva, North Carolina. Gladys was united in marriage to Grady Queen on July 2, 1934 in Georgia and they made their home near Sylva. In late 1937 Grady came to Skagit County in search of work in the woods, with Gladys coming in early 1938. Together they made their home in Sedro-Woolley for 53 years until Grady’s death in 1991. Gladys was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed tending to her home and working in her garden. She also raised and tended wildlife; turkeys, opossums, pigs, cows and other farm animals and children from the neighboring schools would come to her home on field trips to enjoy and learn about the animals.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Hauenstein and her son and daughter-in-law, Ron & Judy Queen, all of Sedro-Woolley. 3 grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff & Terry Hauenstein of Concrete, Sheri & Randy Hudson of Sedro-Woolley and Ryan & Kim Queen of Marysville. 4 great-grandchildren, Jeffery & Jason Hauenstein and Matthew & Meghan Hudson.
1 sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Grady, a grandson Greg Hauenstein, a son-in-law, Lyle Hauenstein, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Pastor Bill Heberling of the Bow Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Arrangements under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

Fern Govan
Born in Unionville, Iowa on Apr. 10, 1910
Departed on May. 26, 2003 and resided in Sedro-Woolley, WA.

Fern Govan went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 26, 2003 at her home in Sedro-Woolley, WA at the age of 93 years.
She was born April 10, 1910 in Unionville, Iowa the daughter of Len and Rosa Swaim Ogden. As a child she and her family came to Sedro-Woolley in 1923 and she graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1926. She later attended Mount Vernon Business College and in 1928 she began working for New York Life Insurance Co in Seattle, retiring in 1970 as an executive secretary. She was married to Fenton Govan June 14, 1930 in Seattle and they resided in Seattle until moving to Sedro-Woolley in 1977. Fern was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Burlington and was very active in women’s faith fellowship activities in her church. While residing in Seattle, she was an active volunteer for the American Cancer Society. The light of her life was her great-great nephew Parker.
Fern is survived by her niece, Aldine Ensley and her husband John of Sedro-Woolley and a nephew David Ogden of Bothell. A sister-in-law Alyce Ogden of Bothell. Great nieces, Jozette Ensley of Edmonds and Jaydine Rana and her husband Onkar of Sedro-Woolley and their son, a great-great nephew Parker Rana. She was preceded in death by her husband Fenton in March of 1991, a sister Leona Morton in Aug of 1965, and a brother Ford Ogden in April of 2003.
Funeral Services will be on Sunday, June 1, 2003 at 2:00PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Jim Shaw of Faith Baptist Church of Burlington officiating. Interment will follow in the Lyman Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Skagit Hospice or Children’s Hospital in Seattle, The family would like to extend a special thank you to Skagit Hospice for their care and concern of Fern. Arrangements under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

Eldon Perry Allen
Born in Gunnison, Colorado on Oct. 3, 1928
Departed on May. 25, 2003 and resided in Sedro-Woolley, WA.

Perry Allen went to be with his Lord and Savior after a short illness on Sunday, May 25, 2003 at the United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley, WA at the age of 74 years. He was born October 3, 1928 in Gunnison, Colorado the son of Richard and Margaret Sammons Allen. Perry lived in Gunnison, Colorado until age 13 when the family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. He served with the US Army in Korea in 1950. He worked as an accountant for a junior college in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he lived for 22 years. Perry loved to fish and hunt, but most of all he was a great encourager and help to all his neighbors in Tulsa. He leaves behind his sons Tony and David of California, two granddaughters Adrian and Gina and their much loved mother Susan. Two sisters Alta Mae Bowman of Astoria, OR and Mary Ellen Beasley of Sedro-Woolley. Two special friends Bob and Mildred Talley of Tulsa, Oklahoma and other friends he left behind in Tulsa.
Graveside Services will be Saturday, May 31, 2003 at 2:30PM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Pastor Jim Bowman of Astoria, OR officiating. Arrangements and Services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley, WA.

Grace May Cox
Born in Oklahoma Territory, OK on Nov. 21, 1904
Departed on May. 27, 2003 and resided in Burlington, WA.

GRACE MAY COX, 89, a resident of Burlington for the past 9 years, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Island Hospital in Anacortes.
She was born November 21, 1904 in Oklahoma Territory, OK the daughter of Glen H. and Rachel Boose Russell. She was raised in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Colorado before settling in Redondo Beach, CA in 1919.
She is survived by a niece Patricia Hardin, great-niece Laurel Wright, 3 great-great-grandsons Brian Hardin, Scott Latimore and Dan Latimore. 3 great-great-grandnieces Tarin Hardin, Tani Wright and Rachel Wright.
Private inurnment was held at Mount Vernon Cemetery Mausoleum under he direction of Lemley chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

Larry R. Robinson

Larry R. Robinson a lifetime resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away Saturday, May 24, 2003 at his home at the age of 56 years. He was born March 31, 1947 in Sedro-Woolley, WA the son of Robert “Pinky” and Zelda
Wilde Robinson. Larry grew up and attended school in Sedro-Woolley graduating with the class of 1965. He attended Skagit Valley College for two years and in 1967 he served with the US Navy in Vietnam for 13 months in the Mobile Reverine Force on the USS Askari (ARL-30). He returned to Sedro-Woolley and worked as the manager of Oliver & Hammer Clothes Shop with his father Pinky Robinson for many years. He was married to Patricia Kaaland on February 23, 1968 in Burlington. Larry enjoyed riding his Harley, spending time at the beach house in Oak Harbor and he was looking forward to kayaking this summer. He is survived by his wife Patricia of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. 3 daughters: LeAnne Robinson and her husband Jeff Hegedus of Bellingham and grandson Jonah Trople, Carmen Robinson of Bellingham, and Krista Robinson of Sedro-Woolley. .
Graveside Services will be Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 11:00AM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 28 from 9:00 AM to 5:00PM. Military Honors will be presented by George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion. Arrangements and Services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

Ted R. Pritchard
Born in Norwalk, Iowa on Mar. 9, 1924
Departed on May. 24, 2003 and resided in Concrete, WA.

Ted R. Pritchard a resident of Concrete since 1941 passed away Saturday, May 24, 2003 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley at the age of 79 years. He was born March 9, 1924 in Norwalk, Iowa the son of Charles E. and Jennie R. Kalenberg Pritchard. During WWII, Ted served in the US Navy in the Pacific from 1943 to 1946. He was married to Carrie Aldrich in 1948 and their marriage ended in divorced in 1957. He was married to Retha Deitz on October 24, 1958 in Hamilton and she preceded him in death in January of 2000. Ted worked as a logger, in shake mills and for many years worked at the cement plant in Concrete. He enjoyed writing poetry, music, hunting and fishing, and sprint car racing watching his three grandsons race at Skagit Speedway. He was very creative and could make anything out of wood. Ted was a member of the Birdsview Fire Department for 27 years, Birdsview Grange, Concrete Senior Center, and he attended the Wildwood Chapel. He is survived by his 3 sons and daughters in law James Hobert and Debbie Deitz of Sedro-Woolley, Fred and Sara Pritchard and Ted and Maureen Pritchard all of Birdsview. 4 daughters and sons in law Shirley and Grady Claybo and Brenda and Bud Ashe all of Birdsview, Judy and Steve Hazel of Bellingham, and Virgie and Paul Eldridge of Van Horn. 26 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and numerous foster children. He was preceded in death by his son George “Butch” Christensen and a brother LeRoy Pritchard.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 2:00PM at Lemley Chapel with Pastor Jim Larson of the Wildwood Chapel officiating. Interment will follow at the Hamilton Cemetery with Military Honors provided by George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion. A reception will follow the services at the Birdsview Grange. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 28, 2003 from 7PM to 8PM at Lemley Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Birdsview Fire Department c/o Mike W. Donnelly 7878 Wilde Rd Concrete, WA 98237, Concrete Senior Center PO Box 787 Concrete, WA 98237 or the Wildwood Chapel c/o Pastor Jim Larson PO box 758 Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284.
