Lillian Nancy Taylor a resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away Thursday, January 30, 2003 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon at the age of 63 years. She was born June 22, 1939 in Grygla, Minnesota the daughter of Olaus and Clara Hagen Boe. Lillian resided in Mount Vernon until 1975 when she moved to Sedro-Woolley. She formally worked at the dry cleaning plant in Mount Vernon and for 16 years worked as a rural mail carrier in Sedro-Woolley. Lillian was married to Paul Z. Taylor on May 1, 1974 in Reno, Nevada. She was active in the Cattleman’s Association, a member of Limousin Beef Association, and the 4-H. Lillian enjoyed gardening and sewing and for many years she and her husband were an emergency receiving home for foster children. Most of all she was a devoted mother to all her family. She is survived by her husband Paul Z. Taylor of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. A daughter and two sons Eileen and her husband Michael Robinson of Renton, Eric Breum of Burlington, and William and his wife Danielle Taylor of Sedro-Woolley. A step daughter Norma and her husband Larry Cook of Sedro-Woolley and step sons Kirby Taylor of Henderson, NV and Zachery Taylor of Lancaster, CA. Her mother Clara Boe of Grandview, WA. Brothers and sisters Marion and her husband Dick Copeland of Zillah, WA, Richard and his wife Gloria Boe of Bull Head City, AZ, Janet and her husband Ben Rodgers of Billings, MT, and Brad and his wife Linda Boe of Everett, WA. 5 Step Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel with Chaplin Wayne Stiles officiating. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. A reception will follow the services at the Central United Methodist Church on Polte Rd. Visitation will be Sunday, February 2nd by appointment, and Monday February 3rd from 9:00AM – 5:00 PM and from 7:00 – 8:00 PM at Lemley Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Skagit Hospice.

EDITH JANE YOST, 82, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident passed away on January 27, 2003 at the Life Care of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley. She was born the daughter of Elmer and Florence Bunker Pillsbury on September 2, 1920 in North Dakota. She worked as a legal secretary in California for many years before coming to the Skagit Valley. She was united in marriage to Robert Yost in Las Vegas in 1980 and made their home in Sedro-Woolley. Edith enjoyed bowling, her garden and her flowering fruit trees.
She is survived by her son Roger Shelander and her daughter Leah Hopper both of Houston, Texas; 2 step-sons; Robert and John Yost of California; 2 sisters Mildred Gaines and her husband Rollie of Sedro-Woolley, Margaret Gascon of Sedro-Woolley. One brother Howard Pillsbury of Wenatchee, WA . Numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend Rose Hayes. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2002 and 3 brothers Earl, Wayne and Roger Pillsbury.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2003 at 2:00PM at Union Cemetery in Sedro-Woolley. Services and arrangements under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

Patricia R. “Patti” Riggs a longtime resident of Snohomish County passed away at her home in Mill Creek, WA on Thursday, January 23, 2003 at the age of 50 years. She was born October 16, 1952 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri the daughter of Claude and Opal Young Riggs. Patti grew up in the Sedro-Woolley and Mount Vernon areas attending school in Mount Vernon until moving to Snohomish County 36 years ago. She worked as a confidential secretary for the Department of Social & Health Services in Everett for the past 5 years and she will be greatly missed by her co workers. Patti loved to collect pictures and angels and visit with family and friends and especially visit susie’s mountain. She enjoyed flowers, nature, and the outdoors and she especially loved to laugh and enjoy life. Patti is survived by her daughters Dawn Eastman and Claudia Kieselhorst both of Mill Creek, WA. A son Troy Eidsmess and his wife Turi of Anacortes. 5 grandchildren Michael and Ashley Eldred, Johnnathon Frey, and Caleb and Clarissa Eastman. 2 sisters Sue and her husband Les Williams of Sedro-Woolley and Marjorie and her husband Jeff Haws of Arlington. A brother Jerry and his wife Dori Riggs of Stanwood. An aunt and uncle Lloyd and Shirley Young and an aunt Ruth Young all of Scott City, MO. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at 2:00PM at Lemley Chapel with Pastor David Browning of Christ The King Church of Mount Vernon officiating. Interment will follow in the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. A reception will follow the Services at the Eagles at the corner of Metcalf and Warner. Memorials are suggested to th Patti Riggs Benefit Fund c/o Washington Mutual Bank at any branch.
Phyllis Eileen Losey

PHYLLIS E. LOSEY, 78, a lifelong Skagit County resident, passed away at her home in Clear Lake on Tuesday January 21, 2003 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 5, 1924 in Mount Vernon, WA, the daughter of Vaughn & Grace Baker Bradshaw. Phyllis made her home in Mount Vernon and Rockport until settling in Clear Lake in 1965. She worked as a waitress for Scotty’s Restaurant in Sedro-Woolley for many years and also as a food sorter and quality control officer at National Frozen Foods in Burlington.
She was an active volunteer for A.A. and its 12 step rehab program, a volunteer for the Mount Vernon Senior Center and did charity work for Skagit Rape Relief. She also enjoyed her seniors exercise class at the YMCA, baking cookies for the A.A. programs and her family, and spending time with her many grandchildren.
She is survived by her 5 children, Fred Watkins (Tracy), Linda Hadaway (Brian), Vicki Baumgardner (Dale), Herb Losey (Sammy) and Kathy Taylor (Al). 3 brothers, Ben, Lloyd and George. 3 sisters, Bonnie, Marilyn and Natalie. 1 adopted daughter and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Percy.
A Celebration of Life for Phyllis will be held Saturday January 25, 2003 at 1:00 PM at the Clear Lake Community Covenant Church. Pastor Tim Hedberg officiating. A fellowship will immediately follow the service. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Mount Vernon Senior Center, 1401 Cleveland, Mount Vernon, WA 98273. Cremation and arrangements under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
Ronald Mack Robinson

Ron Robinson passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA at the age of 74 years. He was born June 6, 1928 in Osenke, Michigan the son of Bob and Florence Mack Robinson. Ron was a resident of Sedro-Woolley for the past 28 years working for Willis Rogers & Pearson Lumber Co as a truck driver until his retirement. He was married to Dorothy Peterson Stransky on October 17, 1995 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Ron was a member of the Sedro-Woolley Volunteer Fire Dept for many years as well as a member of the Teamsters Union, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Burlington and George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion. He was an avid NASCAR fan who enjoyed many Sundays watching his favorite sport. He also loved to travel going on numerous trips and cruises with his wife Dorothy. Ron is survived by his wife Dorothy Robinson of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. A son Rick Robinson of Seattle and a daughter Debrah Williamson of Longview. His mother Florence Brookshire of Marysville. 3 stepsons Dan and his wife Margret Stransky of Mount Vernon, Jim and his wife Michelle Stransky of Burlington, and Dave and his wife Bobbie Stransky of Puyallup. Grandchildren Jason Robinson and his fiancée Tracie of Lynnwood, Heather and her husband Josh Langbenn of Everett, and Jamie Williamson of Shelton. Step Grandchildren Noelle and Megan Stransky of Mount Vernon, Sean and Brandon Stransky of Burlington, and Justin Stransky of Puyallup. A brother Duane and his wife Betty Robinson of Spokane and a sister Judi and her husband George Heys of Coulee City, WA. Sister and brother in law Agnes and Fritz Stransky of Sedro-Woolley and a brother and sister in law Carl and Segrid Peterson of Lynden. Numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his father Bob Robinson, a step father Fred Brookshire, and a son in law David Williamson. Ron had many other relatives and friends and he will be greatly missed.

Betty Jane Katarzy

Betty Jane Katarzy passed away Monday, April 7, 2003 at her home in Sedro-Woolley with her family at her side after a long illness at the age of 75 years. She was born January 2, 1928 in Libby, Montana to Charles and Anna Lee Ester Odel Evans Owen. Betty grew up in Libby, MT where she attended school and later married Otto Katarzy on April 15, 1946. The resided in Libby until moving to Fremont, CA in 1952 residing there until 1979. They moved to Idaho for a short time until moving to Sedro-Woolley in 1980. She and her sister Peggy Allum owned and operated the Korner Market at the corner of State & Haines for a number of years. Betty enjoyed sewing, crocheting, but her first love was reading. She is survived by her husband Otto Katarzy of Sedro-Woolley. 2 sons Darrel Lee Katarzy of Sedro-Woolley and Michael Roy and his wife Jan Katarzy of Burlington. 4 grandchldren and 2 great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister Peggy Allum in 1988, a great niece in 1972 and a nephew in 1993.

ESTHER JOHNS AALBU, 71, a resident of Stanwood, WA, passed away at her home on Saturday April 5, 2003 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 23, 1932 in Chewelah, WA the daughter of Chester & Bessie Metro Hull. As a young girl she moved to Arlington where she was raised and attended school. She made her home in Arlington with her family until 1967 when she moved to Stanwood. For many years Esther worked in the laundry department at the Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood. She was an avid reader, going to the local library on a regular basis. She also enjoyed animals, especially watching the birds around her home.
She leaves behind her loving mother, Bessie Fordyce; her children and their spouses, Linda & Scott Gibson, Patricia & Harry Halliburton, David Bowman, Richard Johns, Mary & Damon Schmidt, Helen & Richard Stalkfleet, Bill Johns, and Rhoda & Shawn Kelly. 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Her brother Bill Harvey and his wife Lavonna. Loving appreciation is extended to Dennis & Joy London and Darlene Johnson and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leo Johns and Howard Aalbu. The family suggests memorials be made to the Audubon Society or Hospice of Snohomish County.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday April 9, 2003 at 1:00 PM in the I.O.O.F. section of the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Services under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
Kathryn Elain Williams

KATHRYN E. WILLIAMS, 56, a longtime Mount Vernon resident passed away on Friday March 21, 2003 at the Life Care Center of Mount Vernon following an extended and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Sedro-Woolley, WA on April 27, 1946, the daughter of Neconer and Wilma (Brown) Bergstedt. Kathryn was raised and attended school in Sedro-Woolley, graduating from SWHS with the class of 1964. On May 25, 1968 she was united in marriage to James Williams in Sedro-Woolley and they have made their home together in Mount Vernon for the past 35 years. Kathryn was a devoted wife and homemaker. She worked as a clerk at the Lincoln Grocery Store in Mount Vernon where she had worked for the past 18 years. She enjoyed gardening, making candles and boating and fishing in the San Juan Islands.
She is survived by her husband, James, at the family home in Mount Vernon.
Her mother, Wilma Bergstedt of Sedro-Woolley. Her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne & Gary Mitchell of East Wenatchee, WA. 1 nephew, Brian Mitchell. 4 nieces, Rachel Mitchell, Stephanie Stewart and Debbie & Tracy Williams. A brother-in-law and his wife, Andy & Cathryn Williams and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, a brother, Carl in 1963 and by her father, Neconer in 1987.
Private family inurnment will be at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. A Life Celebration will be held Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Sedro-Woolley Community Center at 703 Pacific St. Cremation and arrangements under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

Dorothy Hazel Doorn a lifetime resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 with her family at her side at the age of 79 years. She was born October 8, 1923 in Sedro-Woolley, WA the daughter of James and Olive Davison Fahey. Dorothy grew up and attended school in Sedro-Woolley graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1942. She worked for CE Bingham State Bank in Sedro-Woolley until her marriage to Alfred Doorn on September 11, 1946 in Sedro-Woolley where they made their home and raised their family. Dorothy was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Alter Society. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, cooking, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and especially attending their sporting events. She is survived by her husband Al Doorn of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Children John Doorn of Everett, Kristopher and his wife Nancy Doorn of Sedro-Woolley, and Kristen and her husband Glenn Ash of Mount Vernon. 11 grandchildren Noelle and her husband Jeff Jacobson, Jessica, Tiffany, Jeremy Doorn, Janie Harvey, Nicholas, Myles, and Olivia Doorn, Stefanie and Brittany Ash, and Jason Ruhl. 3 great grandchildren Mackenzie and Hunter Pinelli and Kannon Jacobson. 3 sisters Mary and her husband Arnold Donovan of Sedro-Woolley, Jeanne Lisherness of Sedro-Woolley, and Mickey Sperry of Vancouver, WA. Numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Jane Ruhl in 1988, sisters Peggy Myers, Veronica Fahey, Beth McCormick, and a brother James Fahey.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 9:00AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley with Father Pat McDermott as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, April 4th from 9:00AM to 5:00PM at Lemley Chapel.
