Richard A. Ross
Richard A. Ross, 47, a longtime Lewiston Tribune and Moscow-Pullman Daily News employee and recently employed at the Money Saver, died of cancer Saturday at his Lewiston, Idaho, home. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lewiston.
Melvin H. Ehlers
Melvin H. Ehlers, 79, retired department head of the School of Dairy Science at Washington State University, died of age-related causes Sunday at his home in Pullman, Wash. Arrangements are pending at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman.
Janice Marie Johnson
Janice Marie Johnson, 56, longtime Pullman homemaker, died following an extended illness Tuesday at Palouse Hills Nursing Center in Pullman, Wash. Arrangements are pending at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman.
James B. Crow
James B. Crow, 63, retired director of the Washington State University Compton Union Building and Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum, died Friday at Pullman Memorial Hospital in Pullman, Wash., following a heart attack.
He was born March 31, 1936, to Arnold and Ruby White Crow at Laramie, Wyo. He graduated from high school at Laramie in 1954. He attended the University of Wyoming at Laramie and graduated in 1959.
He joined the Army Reserve and was called to active duty during the Berlin crisis. He was discharged from the reserves in 1966.
He went to work at the UW and was involved with student activities. In 1963, he came to WSU as assistant director of the CUB and was later named director of activities at the CUB. He earned a master's in business administration in 1967 at WSU. In 1972, he was named director of the Beasley Coliseum. He retired in March 1998.
He married Norma Rider June 19, 1965, at Spokane.
He enjoyed cooking, walking, camping, traveling, watching old movies, painting, playing the harmonica and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson.
He was an avid sports fan and especially of the Cougs.
He belonged to the Pullman Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed his morning coffee with his friends.
He is survived by his wife at the family home in Pullman; one daughter, Patti Crow of Seattle; one son, Mike Crow of Pullman; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Simpson United Methodist Church in Pullman. Dick Mather, teacher of the Christian Science Church, will officiate. Friends and business associates will share their memories.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the WSU Alumni Association.
Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.
Tillie J. Elder
Tillie J. Elder, 71, died of respiratory failure Monday at her home in Pullman, Wash.
She was born Sept. 20, 1927, to Clark W. and Mary P. Larson Colvin at Potlatch, Idaho. The family moved to Albion, Wash., when she was a child. She attended schools in Albion and graduated from Albion High School in 1944. She worked for the Spokane Seed Company in Spokane for one year.
She married George Poler in 1947 at Pullman. He was the National Guard commander in Pullman. They lived in Pullman for 20 years. They were later divorced.
She married John Elder in June 1980 at Garfield, Wash. They lived in Pullman and she worked at Washington State University in the housekeeping department for 30 years. She retired in 1989.
She enjoyed reading and watching baseball. She enjoyed country western music and traveling. She like to go to Elko, Nev.
She is survived by one son, Mike Poler of Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Pam Ivie of Bellevue, Wash.; one brother, Henry Colvin of Bellevue; one sister, Phyllis Montgomery of Palouse; four stepsons, Mike Elder of Spokane, Pat Elder of Garfield, Monte Elder of Palouse and Brett Elder of Federal Way, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Denise Huber of Colfax, Wash.; two grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash. The Rev. King Rockhill of the Garfield United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at the Rock Creek Cemetery near Potlatch, Idaho.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Rock Creek Cemetery in care of Marvin Wilkinson, Route 2, Box 90, Potlatch, Idaho.

Anna E. King
Anna Eleanor King, 100, a longtime area farmer, died of age-related causes Tuesday at the Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colfax, Wash.
She was born Sept. 28, 1898, to Daniel and Alma King Scott at Ritzville, Wash. She graduated from Ritzville High School in 1917. She then attended Washington State College (now University) for two years. She received a teaching degree at Cheney Normal School (now Eastern Washington University) in 1920.
She taught school for one year on Kauai Island in Hawaii. She then taught near Olympia, Wash., for two years.
She married Carl C. King Feb. 23, 1924, at Olympia. They moved to Rosebud, Alberta, Canada, where he worked on a farm. They returned to the United States in 1926 and leased a farm between Pullman, Wash., and Moscow, Idaho, which they operated until 1933. They purchased a farm north of Pullman near Kamiak Butte in 1933.
She belonged to the Palouse Federated Church; Chapter AE of P.E.O. at Palouse, Wash.; Parvin Grange; H.O.A. Club at Palouse; and was a charter member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at WSU.
She is survived by two daughters, Beryl Kinzer of Pullman and Norma Stejer of Spokane; one sister, Alma Galbreath Luiten of Ritzville, Wash.; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971; one son, Stanley Scott King; one brother, Kennedy King Scott; and three sisters, Nellie Scott Sturman, Wilma Scott Harris and Verna Scott Gahley.
A private family burial will take place Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Colfax City Cemetery in Colfax. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Palouse Federated Church in Palouse. The Rev. John Sayers will officiate. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Palouse Federated Church Endowment Fund; the Chapter AE, P.E.O. Scholarship Fund in care of Barbara Scoville, 1240 Scoville Road, Potlatch, Idaho, 83855; or to a charity of choice.

W. Kim Erickson
W. Kim Erickson, age 66 of Corvallis, Ore., died Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4141 NW Harrison Blvd., Corvallis. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at McHenry Funeral Home, Corvallis.

Freda E. Willsey
Freda E. Willsey, long-time Colfax area resident, passed away June 10, 2006 at the Whitman Hospital in Colfax. She was 94. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Colfax. A private family graveside service will precede the memorial. Larry Pierce
Larry N. Pierce passed away on May 7 at his home in Lewiston, Idaho.Larry was born to Alvin L. Pierce and Vivian E. Sundstrom Pierce on Oct. 26, 1939. Larry lived his younger years in the Deary and Elk River area and graduated from Deary High School in 1958. After graduation, Larry married Marlene Graffenberger and joined the Army. Marlene passed away in 1965. Larry had two other marriages that ended in divorce.

Donna Fischer
Funeral services for Donna Fischer, long-time Pullman area resident, will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church in Pullman. Burial will follow at the Pullman City Cemetery. Donna passed away May 9 in Boise. She was 67.She was born July 26, 1938, in Albion, Wash., to James Claud and Dorothy Maxine Jackson. She graduated from Pullman High School. She married Ruben Fischer in 1961 and they resided in Johnson for many years. Donna kept busy as a homemaker and mother. They moved into Pullman in 1994 where they lived until moving to Boise, Idaho in 2002. Ruben died in 2003.

Heber Otho Rice
Heber Otho Rice was stillborn Tuesday evening at Pullman Regional Hospital. His parents are Ray and Gladys Rice of Pullman. A graveside funeral will be held Monday, at the Pullman City Cemetery. Father, Edgar Borchardt of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate.Ray is an electrical engineer working at Schweitzer Engineering Labs and Gladys keeps busy as a homemaker and mother. The couple, both natives of Butte, Mont., moved to Pullman in 2002.

Maxine Rauch
Maxine J. Rauch, 75, a longtime Pullman resident, passed away Saturday, May 13, at the nursing home in Moscow from complications following a stroke.She was born July 13, 1930, in Johnson, Wash., to Sylvester and Anna Heitstuman and graduated from Colton High School. Maxine married Robert Rauch, also of Colton, in 1951. During her career, she worked at First National Bank (Old National Bank) and then transferred to Washington State University where she retired from the President’s Office.

OBITUARY: Douglas Markham Brown
Douglas Markham Brown died Dec. 14, 2006. He would have been 84 years old in January. Doug was born on Jan. 31, 1923, in Plainfield, N.J. He grew up in Roselle Park, N.J., where he attended high school. During that time he met the love of his life, Margaret (Peggy) Charlton. Doug and Peg were married on July 7, 1945. They were married for 51 years and had three children.

James L. Tate, of Almira, Wash., passed away Nov. 17, 2006, shortly after arriving at his winter home in Indio, Calif. He was born on the John J. Tate family farm near Four Mile Creek on March 12, 1933. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Merlina; daughters Linda (Scott) Smith, Nancy (Garth) Steedman, and Audrey (Scott) Searcy; grandchildren Thomas and Andy Ertz, Taylor Steedman, and Hunter Searcy.

Mabel Rita Dahlin, nee Hatley of Fullerton, Calif., died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006. She was born Oct. 15, 1909 in Pullman, Wash. The daughter of Riley B. and Nora Hatley, she married Carl Dahlin while attending Washington State University, from which both were graduates.
OBITUARY: Kenneth Wildes
Kenneth Wildes, a local gunsmith, passed suddenly on Jan. 2, 2007. He was a much beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife, Anna, as well as his three children, three grandchildren, his loving parents Lincoln and Janice, and his brothers Gordon and Donald and their respective families.
OBITUARY: Roy Dale White
Roy Dale White was born to Opal and Forrest White on May 28, 1936, at their farmhouse in Pullman, Wash. He was the third child after his two sisters, Violet and Vivian. The White family moved from Pullman to a small farm in Moscow, Idaho, when Roy was in the eighth grade. He attended school in Moscow for one year, and then transferred to Troy. Roy graduated from Troy High School in 1955 and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly thereafter. He was stationed in France and then later at Fort Lewis in Washington. He married Lois Anderson of Troy in December 1959 at the Troy Lutheran Church. The young couple moved to Renton, Wash., where Roy worked as a welder for Pacific Car & Foundry. They had three children together, Laura Lee, Julie (now deceased) and Bradley. Roy started his own construction business in 1969, and was very successful. He was a true craftsman and specialized in remodeling. He loved to stay busy; always working on projects around the house and relaxed by going camping and fishing. Roy and Lois were married for 23 years.
