Florence Mae Hultgrenn

Florence Hultgrenn, longtime Tri-City resident, died on Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at home with her family in Pasco, Washington.
She was born on January 9, 1909 in Sprague, Washington. After graduating from Sprague High School she attended Kinman Business University in Spokane, Washington. Florence was employed for six years with the Federal Land Bank as an administrative secretary.
Florence was married in Spokane on September 21, 1935 to Elart F. Hultgrenn. Together they became advisors to the high school Christian Endeavor Society at Knox Church in Spokane, Washington. This set the tone for Florence’s life-long work with youth ministries.
After Elart was transferred to Ashtubula, Ohio in 1943, their only son, Dan F. Hultgrenn was born on January 21, 1947.
In 1951 Florence and her family moved to Richland where Elart was employed by General Electric Company and Florence dedicated her life to homemaking and serving the Lord.
As a longtime member of West Side Church in Richland, Florence was active in youth ministries, teaching Sunday School, Marie Circle, women’s prayer group, and various advisory and support positions.
Florence Hultgrenn was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Mary Bewick, three of her brothers and her husband Elart Hultgrenn. She is survived by her son Dan Hultgrenn and his wife Jeanne, three grandchildren Mary, Brian, Heidi and her husband Mitch Ellerd all of Pasco, Washington, brother Glen Bewick of Ephrata, Washington, and also various nieces, nephews, and friends.
The memorial service will be on Monday, August 12, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at West Side Church, 615 Wright, Richland, Washington. The services will be conducted by Dr. John Zimmerman, Blaine, Washington, and Dr. Mark Cox, Wendall, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to West Side Church Youth Ministries Program.

Florence Louise Tanner
November 28, 1908 - July 31, 2002

Florence Louise (Baalman) Tanner died on July 31, 2002 at Life Care Center in Richland, where she had been a resident since 1999. Before that she lived at Hawthorne Court in Kennewick for four years and at Columbia Edgewater (Alterra) in Richland for three years.
Florence was born November 28, 1908 in Washington, Missouri, the third of six children born to Anton Gerhard Baalman and Elizabeth Mary Haverkamp. She spent her early years in western Kansas, where she was educated, eventually becoming a teacher there in an eight-grade, one-room school.
In 1941 she left Kansas for Denver, Colorado, where she worked for Remington Arms. In 1944 she moved to Rich1and, where she was employed by Dupont at the Hanford Works Project. Her stay in the Tri-Cities then was brief; on August 21, 1947, she married Charles William Tanner in San Francisco, California. They lived in Richmond, California, until his death in 1960.
Florence was employed at the University of California, Berkeley as a secretary-clerk until her retirement in 1971. She remained in Richmond until 1992 when she relocated to Richland to be near relatives.
The last of her immediate family to die, she was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two older brothers, Lawrence Baalman and Clarence Baalman, two younger brothers, Raymond Baa1man, Sr. and Richard Baalman, and her younger sister Hilda Baalman. She leaves her stepdaughter Jeanne Seerley of Littleton, Colorado. Two step grandsons, Jeffery and Joseph Seerley, her sister-in-law, Rose Baalman of Richland, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Florence was a member of Christ the King Parish in Richland In Richmond, she attended St. Paul's Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Ladies Aide Society . She will be missed by her family and care-givers, who were always inspired by her patience, cheerful nature, and ready smile.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at 11:00 am.

Russell Eugene Barner, Jr.
April 01, 1957 - January 10, 2002

Russell E. Barner, Jr. 44, of West Richland, WA was born April 1, 1957, in Spokane, WA and died Thursday, January 10, 2002, at Kadlec Medical Center, Richland after a 2 ½ year battle with cancer.
Russ was raised in Montana and married Janet Hoyt on May 28, 1977. He attended DeVry in Phoenix, AZ (1987-1990).
He and his family moved to the Tri-Cities in 1990 and worked as an engineer for Battelle Northwest Laboratories.
He enjoyed fishing at Twin Lakes and on the Columbia River by McNary Dam, and water skiing, camping and boating at Banks Lake with family and friends. Russ enjoyed snow skiing and was on the ski patrol in Montana. His dog, Casey, also brought him much joy.
Russ is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Ken of Salt Lake City, UT; daughter, Jami of West Richland; father, Russell Barner, Sr. of Choteau, MT; in-laws, Bill and Ruth Hoyt of Choteau, MT, John and Chris Hoyt of Choteau, MT, Patsy and Joe Tate of Cheyenne, WY, Linda and Jim Spinder of Choteau, MT, Sharon and Gerry Hunt of Memphis, TN, Charlene and Mike Bradshaw of Drummond, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet M. Barner and brother, Kenneth Ray Barner.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2002, at Einan’s Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to the Tri-City Cancer Center, 7350 W. Deschutes Ave., Kennewick, WA 99336.

DeLos Ward Badger

DELOS WARD BADGER OF KENNEWICK, BORN MARCH 6, 1919, IN PORTLAND, OR TO ELBIE MARTIN AND FRIEDA MAE (WARD) BADGER, passed away NOVEMBER 4, 2001 AT KADLEC HOSPITAL IN RICHLAND.
HE AND HIS WIFE, CLARA MAE, LIVED IN THIS AREA THE PAST 12 YEARS SINCE HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE IDAHO HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. DURING THOSE YEARS HE SERVED IN SUCH POSITIONS AS DRAFTSMAN, SPECIAL PERMITS AND TRANSPORTATION, AND RETIRED AS OFFICE MANAGER
IN HIS YOUTH, HE SERVED IN THE C.C.C.'S.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE CLARA MAE (WELLS) BADGER OF KENNEWICK, SISTER BERTHA B. COWIN OF RICHLAND, ONE AUNT PHYLLIS DETLOR OF KENNEWICK, AND NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.
HE WAS preceded in death BY HIS FATHER ELBIE MARTIN BADGER HIS MOTHER FRIEDA MAE (BADGER) PRITCHARD, SISTERS PHYLLIS (PIPER) HANBURG, ETHEL GREENMAN, AND TWINS EDITH & ELMER.
WE WILL ALL MISS OUR BELOVED HUSBAND, BROTHER, UNCLE, AND FRIEND.
HE WAS A DEVOTED MEMBER OF THE SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH IN RICHLAND. DELOS AND HIS WIFE, MAE, WENT ON VARlOUS CHURCH SPONSORED BUILDING PROJECTS OVER THE YEARS, INCLUDING ONE IN HAWAII.
THERE WILL BE A MEMORIAL SERVICE TO CELEBRATE HIS LIFE AT THE SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, 1807 MCMURRAY IN RICHLAND ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2001, AT 1:00 P.M.
PRIVATE INURNMENT WILL BE AT SUNSET MEMORIAL GARDENS IN RICHLAND.

Mary Louise Andersen

Mary Louise Andersen was born January 7, 1914 in Hardington, NE and died November 6, 2001, in Richland, WA. She was a Tri-City resident since 1943.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mary Kae Dewey Enger; and husband, Clarence L. Andersen.
She is survived by son, Gordon Andersen and wife, Barbara, of Richland, grandson, Cameron Andersen and wife, Becky, and great granddaughter, Amanda; son, Jim Andersen and wife, Vonnie of Soddy Daisy, TN and grandson, Dax Andersen; granddaughters, Lori, Kim, Andrea, Pam and grandson, Richard; sister, Joyce Sterkle and husband, Don, of Fernwood, ID; and several great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2001, in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be at Einan’s Funeral Home from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.

Charles Thomas Bell

Charles Thomas Bell, age 53, passed away September 3, 2001, in Richland.
For several years Charlie resided in Alameda, California, although he always called Richland his home. After a long, courageous battle with cancer, Charlie went to make his permanent home with his Lord. His final days were spent in the home of his very close friends where he was showered with immense love, compassion and lots of prayers.
Charlie was a professional in the Concrete Industry and a phenomenal cook, but his true desires were fishing, the outdoors and spending time with cherished friends. Charlie, you will be missed for so many reasons, but mostly for your carefree ways, your generosity, and your ability to “catch the big one”.
Thank you for being a wonderful part of our lives and for allowing us to be part of yours.
Charlie is preceded in death by his mother and father and survived by two brothers, one sister and many friends he considered “family”.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday September 8, 2001, 4:00 P.M. at Einan’s Funeral Chapel.
Donations may be given to the Tri-City Hospice House, 2108 West Entiat, Kennewick, WA 99336

Thelma Pauline (Sprouse) Ames

Thelma Pauline (Sprouse) Ames, 86, of Richland, Washington died Friday, June 8, 2001, at her daughter’s home surrounded by family. She was born to Charles and Lillian (White) Carey on June 2, 1915, in Toledo, Ohio.

Thelma married Herman Sprouse June 1, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio. They had one daughter, Sandy, born in 1941. In 1946, the moved to Oroville, WA, and in 1952 they bought an apple orchard on Sprouse Road. Herman died August 4, 1977.

She married Herbert Ames August 20, 1979. Herbert died December 16, 1990. Thelma moved to Richland in June 1998, to be near her daughter.

She is survived by daughter, Sandra and Clive Francis; stepdaughter, Millie and Phil Gann; stepson, Mel and Jan Ames; grandson, Brian Oles; granddaughter, Keri and Steve Burrus; step grandsons, Brandon and Sandy Ames and Audie Gann; step granddaughters, Melissa and Alicia; and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Bergh Funeral Home, Oroville, WA with burial to follow. Visitation will be at Bergh Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House, 2108 W. Entiat Ave. Kennewick, WA 99336.
