Sharon L. Eaton
Sharon Lea Eaton, age 57, some would say “lost her battle with cancer.” That would be nonsense. It may have exhausted her strength, wore her down and eventually took her life, but cancer never stood a chance against her faith. She passed peacefully March 3, 2016, in her home in Hoquiam with her family by her side, never wavering in her trust of God’s purpose for her.
Born a kind-spirited child in May of 1958 to Gerald and Leola Fish, she grew up in Carlyle and graduated in 1976 from North Beach High School. On Oct. 1, 1977, she stole her brother’s best friend by marrying Mark Eaton at Pacific Beach Gospel Chapel. A year later, Mark joined the Marine Corps. In the years that followed, being stationed here and there, they decided to start a family. Sharon turned her focus to being the devoted mother their four children would come to know.
She completed the Licensed Practical Nurse program at Grays Harbor College in 1978, which allowed her to extend her compassion to patients and their families. Over the years, she worked at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital and was the School Nurse at North Beach. Eventually she settled in at Dr. H.M. Johnson’s Family Practice in Hoquiam, where she provided care for over 20 yrs. before retiring alongside him in 2015.
She was a lover of all things in nature; hiking, kayaking, tree climbing with her grandkids, always embracing the outdoors rain or shine. When found indoors her hands were never idle, cross-stitching and crocheting, baking in the kitchen or engaged in her morning devotional. She and her family have been longtime members of Pacific Beach Community Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, ever involved in its monthly activities and after school programs.
She touched the world in a positive light and in many ways, sharing with all her heart to serve. She was a selfless mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend and will always be remembered as such. In addition to her husband Mark, she is survived by her four children, Jacob Eaton of Aberdeen, his wife Shila, Rachel Eaton of Hoquiam, Leah Eaton of Hoquiam and Benjamin Eaton of Hoquiam, his wife Tess; eight grandchildren: Malaki, Tucker, MaKenzie, Titus, Micah, and Tate (Jacob & Shila) Ezra and Parker (Ben & Tess); her mother, Leola Fish of Aberdeen; brother, Bruce Fish of Aberdeen, his wife Goldie and two sisters, Terri Leach of Aberdeen, her husband Steve and Sandy Sundling of the Wynoochee Valley, her husband Brian; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family invites all to join them in celebrating a life well lived. A memorial service followed by food and fellowship with family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016, beginning at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1200 Soule St. Hoquiam, Wash.
The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to Pacific Beach Community Church.

She was born on Jan. 13, 1926, in Haworth, Okla., to Jasper and Rose Ila Morrison, the youngest of six children. Throughout the years living far away from her siblings, Lena kept in close touch with all that was going on in everyone’s lives. She traveled back for school reunions in Haworth and family reunions as often as she could. Once she and Jim retired, Lena and he traveled in their motor coach, which he built over several years, and she was able to spend more time with her southern relatives.

Lurea M. Morris
Lurea Marilyn Morris, 81, of South Bend, Wash., passed away March 25, 2016, at the Legacy Hopewell House in Portland, Ore. She was born Feb. 23, 1935, to Morgan and Amy Rice in Yacolt, Wash., the third of six kids and the only girl. She graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1953. Brothers Francis (Eunice), of Sacramento, Calif., Keith (Norma) of Beaverton, Ore. and Robert of Vancouver, Wash. survive her. Brothers Dean and David preceded her in death.
She married
Wayne Morris in 1953. They were married
for 55 years, he preceded her in death in 2008. They raised three children, Mike (Tammy) Morris of South Bend, Tim (Kerry) Morris of South Bend and Linda (Joe) Wooster of Doty.
“Grammy” leaves behind nine grandkids and 12 great-grandkids. They were all the most special things in her life and the sun rose and set on each and every one of them. Mom especially loved the many opportunities she had to babysit the grandkids when they were little. In their eyes, there was nothing better than a “grammy day” or a “grammy visit”. They all loved her to infinity and back!
Lurea leaves behind many dear, long time friends, many of who helped raise their kids together in their younger years. Friends and family were very important to her and Lurea always put other people first. This characteristic continued into her recent illness. She always replied to nurses and doctors, “whatever is easiest for you”. The words “sweet” and “adorable” have been the words used most often to describe her now and over the years and she was certainly all of that and more.
Lurea worked for the South Bend School District for 26 years as an instructional assistant. She was a long time member of the sorority Beta Sigma Phi, Lady Elks of Raymond which she served as Chaplain and was a past Lady Elk of the Year, Bingo volunteer at Willapa Harbor Care Center, “Birthday Club” with her many good friends, in addition to other community causes.
Lurea wanted all of her family and friends to know how much she loved them and how important they all were to her in her life. She believed that you back get from life what you give. She said she always felt that she received so much more than she ever gave, which is hard to believe. She unselfishly gave her all to everyone around her. Even at the end when she had life decisions to make, her decisions revolved around her family, she was an unbelievably brave lady and a hero to her family.
Services will be held at The Methodist Church in South Bend on April 30 at 2 p.m. and a celebration of life will follow at the Raymond Elks.
Memorials in Lurea’s name can be made to Randall’s Children Hospital Foundation at PO Box 4484 Portland, OR 97208. Please note on check or in an added note that money should go to floors 3 & 4 for toys for the kids with cancer. Those checks can also be mailed to Mike Morris at PO Box 816 South Bend, WA 98596 and they will be forwarded to the hospital.
