Lillian Marie (Womer) Reichter

Lillian Marie (Womer) Reichter of Othello passed away Nov. 29, 2015. Lillian was born in Aberdeen, Wash. on April 12, 1925 to John Wesley Womer and Ella (Neeley) Womer. After finishing High School in Tillamook, Ore. she met John Magoteaux at the Naval Blip Station and was married in 1943. They later moved to Ephrata and then they came to Othello in 1964 to open Magoteaux’s Men Store. After a divorce, she moved back to Aberdeen and then married Gene Reichter. They both loved to vacation in Hawaii, taking several cruises along the way. Lillian was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Othello Presbyterian Church. She loved being with her children and grandchildren, was a great interior decorator and enjoyed knitting, needle work and crafts. She is survived by: Sharon (Magoteaux) Hampton of Othello, Wash., John (Patty) Magoteaux of Curlew, Wash., Jim (Jan) Magoteaux of Umatilla, Ore., stepchildren: Barbara (Jim) Godfrey of Olympia, Wash., Ron Reichter of Seattle, Wash., grandchildren: Veronica (Gabe) Long of Olympia, Wash., Erica Hampton of Henderson, Nev., Chelsey Magoteaux of Umatilla, Ore., Cody Gridley of Umatilla, Ore., step-grandchildren: Tyler Godfrey of Olympia, Wash., and Janelle (Ash) Henry of Sausalito, Calif.. She had seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Reichter, and son, Allan Magoteaux. Lillian will be greatly missed by her family, friends at her church, and the Coventry House. Memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at the Presbyterian Church.

Martha M. Spomer

Martha Maria Spomer, 71 years of age and a longtime Harborite, died on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash. She was born on April 4, 1944, in Tulalip, Wash. to Percy Elmer Heath and Ellen Hyasman. She was an enrolled member of the Quinault Indian Nation and grew up within the communities of Port Angeles and Taholah.

She married Henry Brooks in 1960 at the age of 16 and later divorced. She birthed six children (three boys and three girls, the Brooks Bunch).

In 1986 she married Albert A. Spomer in Taholah, Wash.

She attended the 1910 Shaker Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Martha loved children and worked as a child care provider at the tribal daycare center for some years. During her younger years, Martha also worked at the cannery in Moclips, as an in home care provider, and as a bartender in the Grays Harbor area.

Martha loved gathering with friends and family, playing Bingo, and gambling at the Casino. She was a fan of sports and was a Seattle Seahawks fan. She was a fan of the North Beach Hyaks, the Raymond Seagulls, and the Taholah Chitwhins, watching her grandchildren.

Martha is survived by her husband, Albert A. Spomer of Copalis Beach; her daughters, Brenda Brooks of Moclips, Rosalie Harlow of Olympia, and Jacqueline Poplin of Copalis Beach; her sons, Leo Brooks of Moclips and Russell Brooks of Moclips; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as sister, Alberta DeWees of Olympia; brothers, Norman Heath of Hoquiam, Corbett Heath of Taholah and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at the Taholah Shaker Church with Harold Charles officiating: Inurnment to follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam. A gathering for family and friends will then follow at the Taholah Community Center from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Direction is by the Coleman Mortuary. 422 - 5th Street in Hoquiam.

Barbara R. Loftus

Barbara Rosalind Loftus, 70 years of age and a longtime Harborite, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 at her home in Aberdeen.

The family requests donations by sent to American Cancer Society, 1313 Broadway, Suite 100, Tacoma, WA 98402

There will a celebration of her life at her sister-in-law’s home at noon Sunday.

Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.

Martha M. Spomer

A memorial service for longtime Harborite Martha Maria Spomer, who died Nov. 26 in Aberdeen, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Taholah Shaker Church. Inurnment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Taholah Community Center.

Direction is by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.

Christina M. Trapp

PUERTO QUEPOS PUNTARENAS, PUERTO RICA — Former Harborite Christina Marie Trapp of Costa Rica died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 in Puerto Quepos Puntarenas, Costa Rica. She was 66.

Donations are suggested to SPCA or HAVA.

A service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 17 at 301 H. St. in Aberdeen.

Leslie Larson

Aberdeen resident Leslie Larson died Friday, Dec. 4, 2015 in Aberdeen. She was 54.

Arrangements are by McComb &Wagner Family Funeral Home in Shelton.

Rodney F. Denney Jr.

Rodney Foster Denney Jr. passed away on Nov. 29, 2015 at the young age of 21. Rodney was born April 26, 1994 in Olympia, Wash. to Rodney & Johna Denney. He grew up in Aberdeen, Wash., where he and his family would always go on long camping trips with lifelong friends. Rodney Jr. loved the outdoors, he enjoyed camping and fishing, building things, and he would often be found taking something apart, just to see how it was built. Rodney loved Old School Rap, cars, and motorcycles. He worked as a construction worker as he was aspiring to be a fireman and paramedic. Rodney was the ultimate supporter to his family and friends. If someone needed anything, no matter what Rodney was there.

Rodney Jr. leaves behind his pride and joy his baby daughter Olivia Brielle Denney; parents Rodney Sr. and Johna Denney; siblings Elizabeth, John and Katelyn Denney; grandmother Sharon Denney, his Aunts; Cheryl Rye, Carol Brougher, and Judith Koch, a nephew John Jr., his cousins; Travis, Trish, Jaret, Casey, Amber, Samantha, and Emilee two god sisters Saije Heckard and Natasha Molstad along with his fiancée Deonesia Reyes.

Please join us as we pay tribute to Rodney on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at Stoller’s Mortuary, 315 Fifth St., Raymond, Wash. All guests are encouraged to wear red and black, as red has always been Rodney’s favorite color. Rodney will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. in Fern Hill cemetery in Menlo, Wash.

We will forever keep his memory in our hearts.

Barbara R. Loftus

Barbara Rosalind Loftus, 70 years of age and a longtime Harborite, died on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at her home in Aberdeen, Wash. She was born on Sept. 13, 1945, in Chicago, Ill., to Nathan and Pearl (Arenson) Rife.

Barbara was raised on the Westside of Chicago until she was 16 when she moved to the Southside of Chicago, where she lived until the age of 23.

Barbara was married to Manuel P. Loftus on April 9, 1974, in Chicago and their marriage was blessed in the church on Aug. 20, 1977. The couple moved from Chicago to the Aberdeen, Wash., area in 1989 where she had since resided.

She had worked at various stores in downtown Chicago. After coming to Aberdeen she had worked at McDonalds, Avada, at a hotel and a theater since 2009.

Barbara attended the Saint Mary Catholic Church in Aberdeen.

Her travels had taken her back to Chicago and in 1998 to Disneyworld in Orlando, Fla.

She enjoyed dancing and team bowling.

Barbara is survived by her three daughters, Pearl L. Loftus of Aberdeen, Tracey A. Loftus of Aberdeen and Sara K. Loftus of Vancouver, Wash.; one granddaughter, Abigail M. Goodman of Seattle and other relatives.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel P. Loftus who died on Aug. 20, 2010.

The family requests donations be sent to American Cancer Society, 1313 Broadway, Suite 100 Tacoma, WA 98402.

There will a celebration of her life, for family and friends, at her sister-in-law’s home, at 12 Noon on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015.

Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.

Barbara E. Balodis

Barbara E. Balodis died peacefully in her home Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015. Barbara was born Dec. 4, 1943, in Aberdeen to Freda (Granger) and Bill Crawford. She graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1962.

On July 12, 1969, she married Ivars Balodis in Aberdeen. He survives at their family home in Bremerton.

Over the years Barbara worked as a secretary for the state Dept. of Highways, Bremerton School District and in 2005 retired from Silverdale Vocational Rehabilitation.

She loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed working in her yard, knitting and traveling, having gone to Europe, Alaska and Hawaii.

In addition to her loving husband Ivars, she is survived by sons, Jerry (Wi) Balodis of Kent, Steve (Amanda) Balodis of Goldendale, Brian Balodis of Bellevue; grandchildren, May, Juris and Jerrod of Kent, Aspen and Trevin of Goldendale; a brother, Doug Crawford and a sister, Sue Sliva.

A memorial will be at 3 pm on Friday, Dec. 11, at Crosby Chapel in Seabeck.

Sheldon F. McMillan

BREMERTON — Former Elma resident Sheldon Forest McMillan of Bremerton died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at home. He was 76.

A memorial service will be held at Crosby Chapel in Seabeck at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel in Poulsbo.

Janette Welch

Longtime East County resident Janette L. Welch died Wednesday, Dec. 2 at her home in Elma. She was 74.

Kenneth W. Millen

Kenneth Wayne Millen, a lifetime resident of Aberdeen, died at his home Saturday, Dec, 5, 2015. He was 85.

He was a shoe salesman for Adamore’s Shoe Store for many years.

At his request there will be no formal funeral services. Inurnment will take place in the family spaces in Fern Hill cemetery in Aberdeen.

Arrangements are by Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

Edward J. McCarroll

Edward James McCarroll of Central Park died at his home on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015. He was 70.

Arrangements are eby Harrison Family Mortuary of Aberdeen.

Phyllis C. Jamtaas

Phyllis C. Jamtaas of Lacey, Wash. passed away on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at the age of 94. Phyllis was born in Aberdeen, Wash. in 1921 and resided there until 2005 when she moved to Panorama City in Lacey.

She was preceded in death by husband Norman E. Jamtaas in 2005.

Phyllis is survived by six children, sons Scott (Cheryl) of Monroe, Bob of Lacey, Donn (Alicia) of Bellingham, and Jaime of Aberdeen; two daughters Sue Zedrick (Dave) of Santa Rosa Calif., Margo Frere (Bob) of Blaine, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Phyllis leaves her best friend and companion of nine years, Bert Connerly, also of Panorama City in Lacey.

Phyllis was employed for many years by S.H Kress & Co. in Aberdeen. She was active in the community as a ‘Lady of the Elk’s’, YMCA Ladies auxiliary, the Presbyterian Church, scouting and PTA.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Benevolent Fund of Panorama City at 1835 Circle Lane SE, Lacey, WA 98503

At family’s request there will be no memorial service.

Carl E. (Gene) Loftis

Carl Eugene (Gene) Loftis passed away on Dec. 3, 2015, at his home in Woodland with loving family by his side. Gene was born on March 12, 1945, in Jenkins, Ky.

He married Jan Maxfield in 1968 in Raymond, Wash. They lived in Woodland and Quinault where they owned and operated J J’s Restaurant. Their daughter Janet Jean was born in 1974.

He also drove dump truck for Bill Sweatman Trucking. Gene returned to Woodland in 1992 where he went back to work for Woodland Truck Lines. He retired in 2010 after 23 years.

Gene belonged to a Mustang Club in Woodland and enjoyed road rallies. He loved to go to car shows and has been refurbishing a 1964 Chevy Truck belonging to his brother Mitchell.

Gene married Dawn in 1999 and they enjoyed 16 years together. He taught her how to drive an 18 wheeler which she does to this day.

He enjoyed working in his rose garden with his faithful dog Schultz by his side.

Gene leaves behind his wife Dawn, daughter JJ (Ali) Noorali of Spanaway, daughter Julie Clements of Raymond, four grandchildren, Maya and Zane Noorali and Payton and Cameron Clements, his siblings, Bruce (Charisse) Glazier of Victorville, Calif., Terry Glazier of Ocean Shores, Trudi (Bill) Washington of Battle Ground, Bonny Trotter of Lacey, Sunday (Chuck) Gurr of Long Beach, Calif. and April Guida of Ocean Shores.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and June Glazier and his brother Mitchell Glazier.

There will be a family grave side service at 12 noon on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at the Menlo cemetery, Menlo, Wash. A celebration of life to follow at 1 p.m. at the Raymond Senior Center, 324 Jackson Ave. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to PeaceHealth Hospice Southwest, P.O. Box 1600 Vancouver, WA 98668.

Diane M. Anderson

Diane Marie Anderson, age 72, went to be with the Lord after a struggle with Alzheimer’s disease on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, in Yelm, Wash. Diane was born on Jan. 30, 1943, in Oakland, Calif. to Prentice and Eileen Weber.

In August, 1962, Diane married John David Jerome. They had four children together: Jim Jerome, Roy Jerome, Tracy Dorr and Joann Forsythe. The marriage ended in 1977. In June, 1978, Diane married Larry Anderson and together they raised Larry’s children from a previous marriage, Lenny Anderson and Tina Mitchell.

Diane worked as a homemaker and later in the banking industry. Diane was particularly known for being a loving wife and amazing mother full of humor, wise words, and quick comebacks. She made cinnamon rolls Christmas morning, constantly worried if her kids and grandkids were happy and safe, and loved her family completely. Diane gave her love unconditionally, including during her children’s tumultuous teenage years.

Diane is survived by her husband, Larry, six children, fourteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held privately with family later in the spring of 2016. Memorial donations may be made in Diane’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.

John R. Fields

John Robert (Bob) Fields, born June 28, 1924, died peacefully at his home in Satsop, Saturday Nov. 28, 2015. Bob was 91 years of age.

Born in Tracy, Minn. to John Henry and Bertha A. (Nillson) Fields. The family moved to East Grays Harbor County when Bob was 2 years of age. Bob attended grade school in Montesano, Brady, Satsop and graduated from Elma High school in 1942. During high school up until 1949 Bob worked for Goeres Dairy in Satsop, from 1949 to 1952 he worked for the Glen Motor Co. Bob then worked for Grays Harbor Grange Supply from 1952 to 1959. He retired in 1985 from Posey Mfg. in Hoquiam. For the next 5 years after retirement, Bob worked for Gene Goeres.

Bob was an active member of Grays Harbor Fire Dist #5 for 17 years, 15 of those years he served as Fire Chief at the Satsop Dept. He was proud to have been one of the founding fathers of the Satsop Volunteer Dept.

Bob was an avid gardener, every year planting a huge garden which he shared with family and friends. He also enjoyed wood working, crafting beautiful clocks, tables and other items. He also enjoyed local history and collected old photos of Satsop and the logging industry in Grays Harbor.

Bob married Carolyn (Pennick) Fields in 1949. They were married for 66 happy years.

Bob is survived by his wife Carolyn, son and daughter-in-law, John E. Fields and Dorothy Harry, granddaughters Evelyn Harry and Esther Langley; niece and nephew in California, four cousins, Ora Mae Flannigan of Bellevue, Wash., Donna Schniedmiller of St. John, Wash., Eris Smith of Kelso, Wash., Gull Marie of Sweden and sister-in-law Kathryn Whiteman of Tacoma. He is preceded in death by his mother Bertha Glenn (1982), his brother James M. Fields (1986) and his father John H. Fields.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Bob can be made to Grays Harbor Fire Dist #5, 428 Stamper Rd. Elma, WA 98541.
