Karen L. Lazelle
RAYMOND — Karen Lynn Lazelle, a Raymond resident, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015 at home. She was 51.
An open house will be held at the Lazelle residence from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.
Cremation arrangements were in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
Emmy Mehlfoff
TACOMA — Emmy L. Mehlhoff, a longtime resident of Aberdeen, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Betty Mehlhoff in Tacoma. She was 87.
A celebration of her life will be held at noon, Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Aberdeen Elks Lodge No. 593.
Arrangements are by Tuell - McKee Funeral Home of Tacoma.
Annaliese Purdy
Anneliese Purdy, a longtime Harbor resident, died at Pacific Care Center, Hoquiam, Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015. She was 81.
She had been a registered nurse at Grays Harbor Community Hospital for many years and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Hoquiam.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Evelyn L. (Wood) Juroshek
Evelyn Louise (Wood) Juroshek of Elma died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015. She was 89.
She is from Billings, Mont. and came to Elma in 1999 to help take care of her daughter while she was sick.
The family suggests that donations be made to Grays Harbor Fire District No. 5.
There are no services planned.
Cremation arrangements are by Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
Dona Lucille Daniels
Dona Lucille Daniels, 80 years of age and a longtime harborite, died on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash. He was born on July 28, 1935, in Hoquiam, Wash. to Donald Joseph and Lucile Alice (Cournoyer) Smith.
Dona was raised and attended school in Hoquiam, attending Emerson Grade School, Hoquiam Junior High School and then graduating from Hoquiam High School in 1953.
On May 7, 1956, she was married
to Derrell D. Daniels in Reno, Nev. They were later divorced but remained close friends until his death in 2011.
She worked at Jack’s Drive Inn, Montgomery Ward, General Tire and was working at Harbor Chiropractic Center at the time of her death.
She volunteered at her church, the Hoquiam Presbyterian Church and for the Hoquiam Grizzly Booster Club. She had traveled to Mexico with a couple of her girlfriends as well as to Disneyland and Seaside, Ore. with her sisters.
Dona is survived by her sons, Dean Daniels of Aberdeen and Les Lutton of Seattle; her daughter, Teri Moody of Hoquiam; grandchildren Bryce Moody of Los Angeles, Susan Moody of Hoquiam, Devin Daniels of Aberdeen, Rohan Lutton of Seattle, Finn Lutton of Seattle; one great-granddaughter, Madelyn Pansri of Hoquiam; her sisters, Mary Stoken of Hoquiam and Nancy Holter of Cle Elum, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sally Fulton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Hoquiam Grizzly Booster Club, P.O. Box 264, Hoquiam, WA 98550 or to the Bobcat Boosters, P.O. Box 871, Aberdeen, WA 98520.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at the United Methodist Church, 520 - 5th Street in Hoquiam with Rev. Jeani Shofner officiating.
Direction is by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 - 5th Street in Hoquiam.
Janet Marie Chowen
Janet Marie Chowen, 81, passed away Sept. 7, 2015 at Wellington Parc in Owensboro, Ky. She was born in Los Angeles, Calif., Dec. 6, 1933 to the late George and Inez Savage. Janet worked hard and retired as an engineering secretary from Ragu. After retiring, she and her husband, Chad, built a home at Lake Malone. She enjoyed gardening, golf, bowling and was a wonderful mother.
Janet is preceded in death by her two sons, John Paul and Mick Spoon.
She is survived by her husband, Chad W. Chowen, of Lewisburg; sons, Donnie Spoon of Aberdeen, Wash., Steve Spoon (Carla) of Seattle, Wash.; daughter, Jackie Wilson (Todd) of Rockport, Ind.; step-children, Chris Chowen (Carla) of Graham, Wash., Darci Chowen, and Cheryl Patterson (Bill), both of Freeland, Wash.; sixteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one sister, Jackie Canterbury, of Big Horn, Wyo.
The family is holding a private service.

Jack Stanley Kugan Jr.
Jack Stanley Kugan Jr. passed away on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015. He was born on Dec. 4, 1951 in Aberdeen to Jack and Dorothy Kugan. Jack went to grade school in Brady. He attended Junior High and High School at Montesano where he played basketball and football. He graduated in 1970.
He worked in the woods all of his life. He worked for Tagman Logging, Carter Logging, Pete Muller Logging and in Alaska with Papac Logging. Jack was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Montesano Moose Lodge.
Jack is survived by Karen Kugan, who he was married
to for 33 years; daughters Melissa (Chris) Connolly and Brandi Kugan, son Kary (Kristen) Kugan, brothers, Marlin (Liz) Nelson of Battleground, Wash., Don (Teri) Kugan of McCleary, sisters Dorothy (Paul) Ross of Aberdeen and Diane (Jon) Hillebrant of Aberdeen; grandchildren Austin Kugan and Chandler Kugan; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Montesano Moose Lodge in Montesano.

Earl L. Wilder
ELMA — Earl Lee Wilder and a lifelong East Grays Harbor County area resident, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at his home in Elma. He was 77.
Following college he joined the Carpenters Union # 317 in Aberdeen and went to work for Kugen Construction for 25 years. He was then employed by Rognlin’s Inc. until he retired in 1998.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Satsop Methodist Church.

Harold D. Frafjord
Longtime Aberdeen resident Harold Daniel Frafjord died Wednesday Sept. 9, 2015, at Grays Harbor Health and Rehab. He was 96.
Arrangements are by the Harrison Family Mortuary in Aberdeen.
Dorothy A. Gruginski
RAYMOND — Dorothy Alice Gruginski, a lifetime Pacific County resident, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at her home in Raymond. She was 92.
She worked as a public accountant and also did bookkeeping for their own logging outfit. Later she worked at Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at the Raymond Baptist Church with a potluck gathering to follow.
Cremation arrangements were by Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
Ron McGrath
Lifelong Hoquiam resident Ron McGrath died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, in Hoquiam. He was 69.
A family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations are suggested to elementary schools in the area.

Tom A. Rotta
RAYMOND — Tom A. Rotta of Tokeland died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at Willapa Health and Rehab in Raymond. He was 78.

Janet Mae Everett Fretz Kline
Janet Mae Kline passed away on Nov. 24, 2014. She was born on Oct. 19, 1930 to Lester and Helen (Marsh) Everett in Pen Argyl, Pa. Janet graduated Easton High School, class of 1948. Janet enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in March of 1949, and served as a radio operator during the Korean War. She received a certificate of appreciation from the Secretary of State Donald Rumsfield for her service during the cold war.
She married
Alonzo Fretz Jr. in December of 1949. Janet worked for Bell and Howell Phillipsburg Company in Phillipsburg, N.J., Phillipsburg National Bank in Phillipsburg, N.J. and Stewartsville National Bank and American National Bank as a head teller in Harmony N.J. Al passed away in August of 1972, and Janet moved to Oregon. She worked for the State of Oregon, Dept. of Veterans Affairs Portland; Employment Security Division in Gresham Ore.; and the IRS in Portland, Ore. before transferring to the Seattle-Tacoma area.
Earnest W. Kline and Janet married
in February of 1977. Janet and Ernie moved to Washington State where Janet continued to work for the IRS Seattle and Tacoma offices. After retirement from the IRS, Janet worked for Shoalwater Bay Casino in the Accounting Department.
Janet attended college at Chuchmans Business College in Easton, Pa. and Pierce College in Tacoma, Wash. In both colleges she studied accounting. Janet was a member of the Lutheran Faith, attending South Beach Christian Center in Grayland, Wash.
She was a charter member of “Women in Military Service For America” memorial in Washington D.C.; charter member of Stewartsville Emergency Squad, where she organized and served as President of Ladies Auxiliary for several years. She was also a member of the VFW Post #4057 in Westport, Wash. for 20+ years.
Janet and Ernie enjoyed traveling, seeing most U.S. states by RV as well as cruises and tours of Europe, Mexico, South America, Hawaii and Alaska. Janet collected music boxes and enjoyed crocheting and embroidery.
Janet is survived by her sons Barry (Denise) Fretz of Keystone, S.D.; Kenneth (Rae) Fretz of Grayland, Wash.; daughters Sylvia (Ron) Hercha of Dover, Del. and Ericka (Mark) Kline of El Paso, Texas. Brother Wayne (Donna) Everett of Clackamas, Ore. and sister Lindamae (George) Manners of Phillipsburg, N.J. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and one aunt Gloria Rissmiller of Easton, Pa. She loved every single one of them.
She was predeceased by her parents and brother Roy Everett Sr., husbands Alonzo Fretz Jr. and Earnest W. Kline.
Burial with full military honors will be at Willamette National cemetery in Portland, Ore.
A celebration of life will be held at the Westport VFW on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m.
Leslee Karen Odle
Leslee Karen Odle, 60, passed away Aug. 27, 2015 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, with her family by her side. Leslee was born on May 24, 1955, to Eldon and Arlayne Odle.
Survivors include daughter Jennifer and grandchildren Brianna, Alyssa, Trey and Shain, son Kyle and granddaughter Cayla, sisters and families, Barbara (Dale), Brynn, Steve, Bryan (Stacy), Elizabeth and Eldon Rasmus, Charmon Odle, Claire Zimmerman, Diane (Russ), Shane, Haleigh and Lindsey Raymond, Courtney (Blaine) and Lincoln Adams. Debra (Eric), Garrett (Britnee), and Raylan Parsons, Arlynn (Steve), Noah, Layne, Andrew Martin and her special friend Mike Cordova.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Tradewinds Motel in Tokeland.
Edwin Erickson
Harbor resident Edwin Erickson died Sept. 3, 2o15. He was 73.
He was a retired Chief Warrant Officer with the U.S. Navy who served more than 20 years in the submarine service.
A service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Hoquiam First Baptist Church.

Myrna J. Cherry
MONTESANO —Myrna Joy Cherry of Elma died Sunday, Sept, 13, 2015 at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 75.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Harrison Family Mortuary in Aberdeen. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wynooche cemetery in Montesano.
Arrangements are by the Harrison Family Mortuary in Aberdeen.
Myrna Joy Cherry
Myrna Joy Cherry, 75, of Elma, Wash. passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015 at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center. Myrna was born in Black Duck, Minn. to Valley and Vera (Haney) Madison.
Myrna came to Hoquiam when she was four with her family on a train. She had also lived in Aberdeen, Montesano and Shelton.
On July 23, 1955 she married
the love of her life Sterling E. Cherry Jr. They were married
for 60 wonderful years. He survives her at the family home.
Myrna was a Jehovah’s Witness and was last attending the Elma Congregation. She dedicated her life to Jehovah and served him faithfully. Both she and her husband became Witnesses in 1963. Her biggest joy was worshipping Jehovah and serving Him.
Myrna loved all her children and grandchildren and would do anything for them. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was always cheerful. She kept the cleanest house of everyone out there. She liked to do crossword puzzles and play any mind games available especially Scrabble with her mother. She usually won. She also liked to go camping with her family and loved to travel. Her favorite trip was to New York where she got to see the Jehovah’s Witness headquarters, (Bethel). She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens with her husband. She enjoyed taking drives and traveling to Arizona with her husband for the winter. Myrna enjoyed country music and taught herself how to play the piano. As a child she played the violin.
Myrna was very witty and intelligent. A lot of people would listen to her great advice and loved her insight. She handled all the family finances and business. She and Sterling both liked to drink coffee all day.
In addition to her loving husband Sterling, she is also survived by their children Robert E. Cherry of Wyoming, Kenneth L. Cherry and Dennis W. Cherry both of Aberdeen and Angela Cherry of Westport; grandchildren Chrystal, Jesse, Darrien, Joshua, Benjamin, Darrin, Kaliegh, Zackary, Chloe and Timothy; and seven great-grandchildren; her brothers Bruce Madison of Central Park and Duane Madison of Aberdeen; sisters Janet Young of Aberdeen, Wanda Lyles of Coupeville. She was preceded in death by her infant son Allen E. Cherry, her brother Leroy Madison, sisters Karen Church, Dorothy Ward and Faye Madison.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16 in the chapel at Harrison Family Mortuary located at 311 W. Market St. in Aberdeen. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. at Wynooche cemetery in Montesano. A celebration of her life will follow at 3 p.m. at the Aberdeen Elks.
