Patricia R. Schonack
CENTRALIA — Former Aberdeen resident Patricia Ruby Schonack of Centralia died Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at home. She was 87.
Visitation will be between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Thursday, at Sticklin Funeral Chapel in Centralia. A memorial service is schedule for 1 p.m., Saturday, also at Sticklin’s. A luncheon will follow the service.
Darlene Hazel (Kessell) Fletcher
Darlene Hazel (Kessell) Fletcher, 54 years of age, passed away on Oct. 3, 2014, at her home in Westport with her husband at her side. She was born in Saint Helens, Ore., on Oct. 27, 1959.
She graduated from Washington High School in 1977 in Portland, Ore.
She moved around the country, eventually making her home in the Grays Harbor area. She worked as a C.N.A. until an injury forced her to quit working.
Her hobbies included; writing poetry and making crafts. She enjoyed her time at home with her husband and their two dogs. She was a loving and devoted wife.
Darlene is survived by her husband Brian S. Fletcher, Sr. of the family home in Westport; her children, Jermey Velasco of New Mexico, Stormy Velasco of Oklahoma, Lureena Velasco Louie of Oklahoma; a step-daughter, Selena Ellingsen of Federal Way, Wash.; a step-son, Brian Fletcher, Jr. of Seattle, Wash. and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, and Thursday, October 9, 2014, at the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam, Wash.
Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
Judy Anne Du Puis
Judy Anne Du Puis of Oakville, Wash., passed away at home on Thursday, October 2, 2014.
Cecil LeRoy Hampton
Cecil LeRoy Hampton, 82, longtime Montesano resident and former shift foreman at ITT Rayonier Pulp Mill, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam.
Cecil was born on Feb. 29, 1932 in Montesano to Leagon and Mildred (Askew) Hampton. He lived in Aberdeen until his freshman year of high school when the family moved to the Wynooche Valley. He graduated from Montesano High School in 1950. He was a member of the MHS basketball team that was inducted into the Montesano High School Hall of Fame. He was proud to be a Bulldog.
On Feb. 2, 1951, Cecil married
Doris A. Thompson in Montesano, Wash. She died in Feburary, 2013 just after their 62nd wedding anniversary.
He worked on his grandparents farm on the Wynooche Valley until going to work for Blagens Mill/EC Miller (which now is Mary’s River) in Montesano. Cecil went to work for ITT Rayonier and retired in 1992.
Cecil had been a member of the Aberdeen Elks Lodge and was also an avid bowler. He enjoyed walking and getting to know people. He enjoyed watching the Seattle Mariners on TV but his favorite hobby was his grandkids. He enjoyed going to all their sporting events and cheering them on. He followed them from one end of the state to the other; volleyball, basketball, track, baseball and softball.
His travels took him from Alaska to Hawaii on the West Coast and from Prince Edward Island to North Carolina on the East Coast. He enjoyed seeing new places and if he got to see a sporting event that was just a plus.
He loved to see the smile on faces when they realized he was a “leap year” baby. He would tell them he had only had 20 birthdays and was hoping to have a drink on his 21st!
Cecil is survived by a daughter Debra and her husband Monty Mattson of Montesano; a brother, Leagon Daniel “Dan” Hampton of Woodinville, Wash.; two sisters: Willobelle Valentine of Shelton and Linda Hanson of Winchester Bay, Ore.; grandchildren: Shelley Trombley of Spokane, Wash., Julie Graves of Malone, Laura Salazar of Honolulu, Hawaii and Carl Mattson of Montesano. Also, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Dennis Hampton on July 7, 1977.
There will be a celebration of his life held on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m., at the Brady Fire Hall, Fire Station Road in Brady.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
Patricia Ruby Ayres Schonack
Patricia Ruby Ayres Schonack, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at her home in Centralia, Wash. in which she has resided for the past 62 years. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 13, 1927, in Aberdeen, Wash. to Theodore and Sophie Ayres.
Patricia grew up in Aberdeen where she graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1945. After high school she attended Grays Harbor College. She worked for National Bank of Commerce in Aberdeen for 5 years where she made lifelong friends, including Ruth Wayman and Barbara Crook.
Patricia married
the love of her life, Robert R. Schonack in 1949 in Aberdeen, and they were happily married
for 52 years. Patricia enjoyed her family and her home and dedicated herself to nurturing and raising her children. She ran an efficient, joy-filled home where her family learned responsibility and how to love and embrace all.
Patricia is survived by her children, Gary (Mary) Schonack and Ed (Michelle) Schonack of Centralia, Debbie (Dave) Campbell of Chehalis and Lynda Schonack of Centralia; grandchildren Krista (Ray) Arellanes, Wyndee (Ben) Lomedico, and 3 great-grandchildren, Zoey, Kaydence and Isabelle all of Centralia. She is also survived by sister-in- law, Barbara Ayres and numerous nieces and nephews.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Schonack, mother, Sophie Ayres, father, Theodore Ayres, sister Juanita Ayres Rowe, brothers Ted and Lawrence Ayres, and sister-in-law, Patty Ayres. Visitation may be made between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 9 at Sticklin Funeral Chapel.
A memorial service for Patricia Schonack is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11 at Sticklin Funeral Chapel, 1437 S. Gold St., Centralia with Rev. Alta Smith officiating. A luncheon will follow the chapel service in the Sticklin Hospitality Room. A private interment has been arranged.
Elizabeth Rose Huttula
Liz died at the Gulke Manor Adult Family Home in Montesano, Wash., surrounded by her family and caregivers on Oct. 3, 2014. She was born to Ursula Tibbles and Carl Auer on Sept. 28, 1924, in Seattle, Wash. Liz was raised in Seattle and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1940. Liz met Russell Blake Huttula in Seattle in 1941, while she was attending the Seattle University School of Nursing. Liz graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1944, and married
Blake at the University Lutheran Church in Seattle on June 10, 1945. In the winter of 1949, Liz and Blake moved to Elma, Wash., purchased the Elma Pharmacy and made Elma their permanent home.
Liz spent the next 30 years of her life devoted to raising her five children. Professionally, Liz worked part-time as a Registered Nurse at the Oakhurst Convalescent Center in the 1950s and as a Nurse’s Aid Teacher at Elma High School from 1969-1983. In 1987 Liz became the Director of Nursing Services at the Oakhurst Convalescent Center, retiring in 1989.
After retirement, Liz spent time traveling with Blake, their close friends and family. Liz enjoyed cooking and entertaining at her home, where family and friends were always welcome. Most important to Liz, was her faith, church and overall spiritual life. Liz suffered the tragic loss of two of her children and was always able to sustain herself as a loving mother by finding solace in her faith, loving marriage and family.
Liz was preceded in death by; her husband Blake in 2012, her daughter Mary Beth in 2003 and her son Carl Richard in 1968. Liz is survived by her two daughters, Janice Carol and Catherine Elizabeth, her son, Thomas Blake and his wife, Angela, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial gift, in Elizabeth Huttula’s name, to the Gulke Manor Adult Family Home (gulkemanor.com). Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m., Thursday, today at Whiteside Family Mortuary in Elma. Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 10, 2014 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Elma. Interment will be at Masonic cemetery in Elma.

Kirby A. Tuntland
EUGENE, Ore. — Kirby Arthur Tuntland of Eugene, Ore., died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at home. He was 73. He was raised in McCleary and graduated from Elma High School in 1959.
He worked for Ideal Steel for the last 22 years.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
William Bret Ellis
A memorial service for longtime Montesano resident William Bret Ellis, who died Sept. 9 in Montesano, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in the Aberdeen High School Auditorium.

Milton “Bud” Bourke
Milton “Bud” Bourke died at his home in Aberdeen Monday, Oct. 6, 2014. He was 84.

OCEAN SHORES — Sherin L. Harrison of Ocean Shores died at her home on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014. She was 78.

Kathleen R. Tissell
A memorial service for Grayland resident Kathleen Rae Tissell who died Oct. 5, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the South Beach Presbyterian Church in Westport.

Shirley Meta Davis
Shirley, born Nov. 28, 1925, went to join the Lord, her savior, on Oct. 9, 2014.
She was married
to Harold Davis Sr. for 37 years. He preceded her in death in 1999. She most recently lived in Hoquiam.
Shirley is survived by two sons, Michael James Davis of Ocean Shores and Harold Davis Jr. of Toole, Utah; two granddaughters, Noel Carroll and Kaylie Davis; a grandson, Benjamen Davis, and a great-grandson Timothy P. Davis Jr. of Spokane.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Timothy P. Davis Sr., killed in Afghanistan by an IED in 2009.
Shirley loved her family, friends and her dogs. She will be missed.
At her request, there will be a private service held.
Vernice D. Walker
Vernice D. Walker passed away on Oct. 8, 2014, in Tacoma, Wash., after an illness. She was born on April 6, 1937, to Glen Capoeman and Nellie Simmons in Aberdeen, Wash. Vernice was raised and attended school in Taholah, Wash.
She is survived by her sons, Rodney and Mario; daughters Kay, Karla, Alice, Marisa, Stephanie, Kim, Sylvan and Shannon, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Oct. 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Piper Morley at 5436 South Puget Sound Ave., Tacoma, WA 98404. The phone number is 253-472-3353.
Funeral services will also be held at Piper Morley on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m.
Graveside services officiated by Truman Santiago will be held at the Puyallup Tribal cemetery on Tuesday, Oct. 14, located at 1819 32nd St., Tacoma, WA 98404.
Ricky Alan Holbrook
Ricky Alan Holbrook, age 57, a long time Grays Harbor resident, died Oct. 2, 2014, at the home of his daughter, Jennifer after a short bout with cancer.
He was born Feb. 6, 1957, in Arcata, Calif., to Fred and Lynn Holbrook.
He was a timber faller in the logging industry, not only in Grays Harbor but in Alaska as well. People have said he was the best timber faller in Grays Harbor.
He was very well known for his love of hunting and fishing, which he was very skilled at and also for his great sense of humor.
He is survived by three children, Jennifer Walters of Oakville, Wash., April Holbrook of Chehalis, Wash., and Ricky Holbrook of Elma, Wash.; three granchildren; his mother, Lynn Holbrook of Lacey, Wash.; three sisters, Connie Carden of Federal Way, Wash., Debbie Lillie of, Montesano, Wash. and Judy Lillie of Lacey, Wash. His father, Fred Holbrook, preceded him in death.
He will be buried at Fern Hill cemetery in Menlo, Wash., close to his father.
Amy Louise Dennis
Amy Louise Dennis was born on June 12, 1959, in Eugene, Ore. Amy lost her battle with cancer on Oct. 5, 2014, in Houston, Texas, surrounded by close family members. Her father was Ken Eugene Knudson and mother is Rose Marie Knudson. Amy was the youngest of five children. She has two older sisters, Julie Knudson and Kathy Apter, and two older brothers, David Knudson and Steve Knudson. Amy was married
to Randy Dennis for almost 30 years and is survived by Randy and their two children, Erik, 26 and Hannah, 23.
Amy cared deeply about her children, family, and friends. She also had a deep affection for pets and served many years on the local animal shelter board (HAVA). Over the years, Amy adopted or fostered many animals and many of these animals ended up as her personal pets. Her two favorite joys were her Border Collies, Pepper and Ginger, along with her four cats, which is one more than what is typically allowed.
Amy donated a lot of her time to many nonprofits and especially the Northwest Carriage Museum where she was the director for 10 years. Amy was an excellent cook, loved to garden, bike ride, kayak, travel, and take long walks with her two dogs and husband. Amy loved the friendship of others and rarely could go or travel anywhere without striking up a conversation with a stranger and making a new friend. Close friends and family were very important to Amy.
Amy was a very kind compassionate person that battled cancer bravely for 11 months and never once complained. She always had something good to say about everyone and always found the good no matter what the circumstance. Amy was a world class mother and her children were the love of her life.
A service will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. at the Raymond Catholic Church to celebrate Amy’s life. In lieu of flowers, Amy had requested a donation be made to either Helping Hands or HAVA.
Ross A. Baun
December 3, 1983 - January 4, 2015
Ross A. Baun was born in McCleary, Washington on December 3, 1983 to Pauline and Ricky Baun. He attended McCleary Grade School and graduated from Elma High School in 2002. He attended Wyoming Technical Vocational College after high school and returned to McCleary.
In July 2010 he married
Jodee Lahaie in McCleary. Together they had a son, Axton, who is now five years old. Ross and Jodee divorced after four years of marriage.
Ross held many jobs but he especially enjoyed driving log truck for RL Smith. He had also worked at Sierra Pacific, Brumfield Construction and De Paul Logging. He was also a member of Carpenter’s Union.
Ross was always tall for his age and his Grandma would always remind him not to be a bully, Ross took her advice to heart. He was at least 6’5” tall but had a gentle, loving soul. He made friends easily and leaves behind many who will miss him dearly. There are many, many stories about Ross that will always make his friends and family laugh. Please remember Ross with a smile.
Ross is survived by his son, Axton, who was the keeper of his heart. He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Pauline and Ron Pittman of McCleary, his father and stepmother, Ricky and Barb Baun of Raymond, his brother and sister in law, Todd and Kristil Baun and their children, Kennidy, Tyson and Talon of McCleary. He is also survived by his Grandmother, Jean Miller of Kalispell, Montana, his Grandfather Garry Baun, his stepsisters, Amber, Shauna, Eryn, Ronnie Sue and his step brother, Andrew. Ross is also survived by fiancée, Talonna Rice and her daughter, Lexi. Ross will also be missed by his large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Abundant Life Church, 100 Tech Way in the Satsop Development Park Elma, Washington.
Ross was a gentle soul who left this world too soon.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to a fund for Axton at Our Community Credit Union.
