Joanne C. Walker
Joanne C. Walker, 70 years of age and a longtime Hoquiam, Wash., area resident, died on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Wash. She was born on Sept. 29, 1943, in Seattle, Was., to Joseph L. and Opal Fay (Hall) Waunch.
After graduating from Olympia High School in 1961, Joanne C. Waunch married
Kenneth W. Walker in Olympia on June 15, 1961. The couple soon moved to their Dekay Road home in Hoquiam. After her husband, Ken, died in 2000, Joanne enjoyed spending time in Sequim.
After moving to Hoquiam, Joanne worked in the Post Office at the Humptulips Grocery Store, for the Hoquiam Senior Center and then for the Olympic Area Agency on Aging (O3A) until her retirement. After she retired, Joanne continued to care for the seniors. During her years at O3A she traveled to four counties helping different agencies with their programs. Joanne was a strong advocate for seniors and dedicated years of her life to helping seniors access the services they needed.
Joanne spent hours making numerous handmade items for family and friends alike. She loved to create just that special thing for people. In addition to knitting or sewing for her family and friends, she also knit stocking caps for cancer patients. Joanne loved to play cards and to cook; and was cherished for her homemade rolls. “Grandma” Joanne adored each of her grandchildren, and one of her favorite pastimes was playing Bingo.
Joanne C. Walker is survived by one son, John Walker (A’Dee) of Aberdeen; three daughters, Mary Lou Bissett (Stephen) of Chehalis, Cindy Falla (Juan) of Hoquiam and Ruth Redding (Van) of Menlo; eleven grandchildren, Garrett Walker, Hayden Walker, Danica Middleton (Andy), Tiffini Walker, Amanda White, Alex Falla, Tigre Falla, Lauren Emery, Vanesa Redding, Damian Redding, and Julia Bissett: two great grandchildren, Amelia Middleton and Taya Middleton; two sisters, Gloria J. Norris and Marion Barr; a brother-in-law, E. Richard Walker and other relatives.
Besides her husband, Ken, Joanne was preceded in death by her sisters, Pearl L. Pickett, Dorothy Miller, Donnell Barbour and a brother, George S. Waunch-Binns.
A cryptside service of inurnment will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Sunset Memorial Park Garden Mausoleum in Hoquiam, Wash. Following the inurnment service there will be a potluck at John and A’Dee’s home, 1007 North J Street in Aberdeen, starting at 3 p.m.

On Friday, June 20, 2014, Joanne’s family and friends encourage you to join them at the Hoquiam Elks for the Elks Burger and Bingo Night. They will start serving the Burgers around 5:30 p.m. and Bingo will start at 7 p.m.

William Ned Schoettler
William Ned Schoettler, 74, passed away peacefully at home on June 15, 2014. He lived many years in Grays Harbor before settling in the Yakima/Selah area where he had a farm for more than 18 years. He loved fishing, camping and hunting elk and deer every season with his boys.
He is survived by his wife Sherrie of Yakima, seven children; Diane (Joseph) Werbiansky, Kathy (Jack) Trent and Tina Schoettler all of Elkhart, Ind., Stacee (Michael) Hoffee of Panama, Michael (Tawny) Wagner of Santa Rosa, Calif., Jason (Jodi) Schoettler and Daniel Schoettler of Selah, Wash. He has 20 grandchildren; Willie, Angela, Lindy, Jessica, Tony, April, Crystal, Heather, Katie, Kristi, Tiffani, Jordan, Hayley, Kathleen, Joshiwa, Chelsah, Zaccarria, Ethan, Chance and Collin. He has 17 great grandchildren, he is also survived by a brother Roy and a sister Jean, many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ned and Maude, four sisters Leona, Edna, Fern and Grace, two brothers Earl and Leon, two children William and Theresa Anne and a daughter-in-law Vonda.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
Gerald Ray Hliboki
Gerald Ray Hliboki, 76, entered into peace on Friday, June 13, 2014. He left behind his son, Keith Hliboki, Montesano, daughter, Laura (Kelly) Rhinehart, Fruitland, ID, brothers, Jim (JoAnn) Hliboki, Montesano, and Dick (Pennie) Hliboki, Rochester, grandkids, Zach (Alyssa), Josh and Sarah Rhinehart, Idaho, and many special family and friends too numerous too mention.
Jerry was born March 27, 1938 in Hoquiam, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Edna Hliboki. Jerry graduated from Aberdeen HS in 1957 and was awarded Best Physique. Jerry worked at Swansons and Sylvan Construction for many years before starting his own construction company. He enjoyed hunting, camping and spending time in the woods. In later years he became quite the chef and loved sharing his creations with others. Jerry served in the US Army and later loved serving the troops and the families of the deployed military.
Jerry donated his time to many local organizations including the local VFW. He enjoyed digging and especially eating razor clams and playing cards with his friends and his family. Jerry left our lives before we were ready to let go but he will remain in our hearts forever.

Cherie Vroman
A memorial service for longtime Aberdeen resident Cherie Vroman, who died May 14 in Aberdeen, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 19, at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Aberdeen.

Joanne Walker
A cryptside service of inurnment for longtime Hoquiam resident Joanne C. Walker, who died June 5 in Bremerton, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 21, at the Sunset Memorial Park Garden Mausoleum in Hoquiam. Anna L. Cudney
Anna Lora “Little Grandma” Cudney died at her home on June 12, 2014. She was 97.
She had lived in Bay Center, as well as Portland, Ore., Coos Bay, Ore., and Curtis.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Velma M. McKinlay
Velma Maxine McKinlay of Aberdeen died Wednesday June 11, 2014, at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam. She was 87.
Arrangements are by the Harrison Family Mortuary in Aberdeen.
John E. Persson
MONTESANO — Lifelong Aberdeen resident John Edward Persson died Thursday morning, June 12, 2014. at Montesano Health & Rehab in Montesano. He was 78.
He was the former owner of John Persson Contracting.
A celebration of life is being planned and a full obituary will follow in The Daily World.

Nina Jeneva McFall
Nina Jeneva (Wallace, McFall) Haynes lost her battle to cancer on Saturday June 7, 2014, at age 69 in Tacoma, Wash. A long time resident of East Hoquiam, Nina lived in Gig Harbor, Wash., with her second husband at the time of her death.
Born in Praise, Ky., on July 29, 1944, to Virginia (Odell) Mullins and Lee Roy Wallace, Nina had seven siblings: Teddy C. Wallace, Jimmy H. Wallace, Darrell D. Wallace, Ivis (Bunny) L. Salyers, Malvean Wallace, Roy (Dean) D. Wallace and Glenita (Gail) G. Wallace. At age 15, Nina married
Gerald McFall. They relocated to Washington state where they soon began building their family of six children. Nina owned Pampers Daycare Center for decades in Aberdeen where she cared for many local children who remained close to heart into their adulthoods. She and Gerald fostered numerous children together that they enjoyed reconnecting with in their later years, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage before he preceded her in death. Nina was a creative talent with many hobbies. She was a gifted writer, painter, potter, gardener and genealogist, having successfully traced her family ties back to Pocahontas. Nina loved traveling and gift-giving.
Nina is survived by her husband, Jon Haynes of Gig Harbor, Wash.; her six children and children-in-law: Edwin (Angela) McFall of Aberdeen, Wash., Shirley (Ron) Norton of Mountain View, Wyo., Anita (Lee) Onasch of Hoquiam, Wash., Bebe (Josh) Jelineo of Longview, Wash., Derek (Susan) McFall of Clintwood, Va., and Kyna (Jon) Wilson of Montesano, Wash.; her stepson Austin (Rachel) Haynes of Auburn, Wash.; as well as her 17 grandchildren, 1 expected grandson, 1 step grandson, 3 great grandchildren and 1 expected great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald McFall of Hoquiam, Wash.; her mother, Odell Deloach, father Lee Roy Wallace and stepfather Clyde Deloach, all of Clintwood, Va.
Nina wished to have no service. A private viewing with immediate family was arranged. Arrangements are being made by Edwards Memorial in Tacoma, WA. A special thank you to Franciscian Hospice Home in Tacoma, Wash., for their delicate and heartfelt care and support offered to the McFall and Haynes families.
“Meeting Nina was a dream come true for me, ” says her devoted and loving husband, Jon Haynes.
Ruby B. Virtue
Ruby B. Virtue, age 99, died May 1, 2014, in Edmonds, Wash. She leaves behind two daughters, Joy (Lee) Briney of Gresham, Ore., Kathy Duncan of Edmonds, Wash., and one son, Dave (Terri) Sandgren of Raymond. Bucky, her husband of 54 years, died in 2003. She had nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was born in Porter, Wash. and lived in Raymond from 1946 to 1962 and later lived in Kent, Wash. A celebration of her life will be held during the annual Bramer/Ray family reunion on Aug. 24, 2014, at Fort Borst Park in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, donate to a charity of your choice.
Roberta F. Hoschouer
RAYMOND — Roberta Faye Hoschouer, a Westport resident, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Willapa Harbor Care Center in Raymond. She was 75.
At her request, no memorial services will be held.

Dolores J. Bussabarger
OLYMPIA — Former Raymond resident Dolores Jean Bussabarger died, Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at her home in Olympia. She was 81.
She was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Portland, Ore., and worked for sometime as an airline attendant, for a phone company and for Union Oil, however the majority of her career was spent being a homemaker.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Fern Hill cemetery in Menlo where burial will be held next to her husband, Robert.

Connie M. Banner
Connie M. Banner of Cosmopolis died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. She was 66.
She worked for Community Hospital from 1973 to 1981, then the Department of Social and Health Services from 1981 until her retirement in 2009.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at South Aberdeen Baptist Churct, 620 Fordney St.
Memorial donations may be made to the Pacific Beach Community Church Mission Project or South Aberdeen Baptist Church Roof Project.

Barbara Ann “Barb” Twidwell
Barbara Ann “Barb” Twidwell, a lifelong Grays Harbor resident, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She was 67. Barb was born Oct. 11, 1946, in Aberdeen to Ralph and Ethel (Bramstedt) Blaine. Barb grew up in Cosmopolis until the 7th grade when the family moved to Montesano.
After graduating high school, she went on to study for two years at Grays Harbor Junior College. Barb married
Jeffrey Twidwell on Nov. 12, 1966, in Montesano. He survives her in the family home. Barb was a bank service manager with 22-years in banking, finishing her career at what was eventually, Sterling Bank. Barb enjoyed exercise and fitness, kayaking, flowers, travels to Hawaii, European cruises, Ireland and France. In addition to her husband, Jeff, Barb is survived by three daughters; Cheryl Twidwell, Everett, Wash., Connie Molina, Kihei, Hawaii, and Lisa Twidwell, Seattle, Wash. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Bella Molina, brothers; John Blaine, Gig Harbor, Wash., and David Blaine, Palmdale, Calif., and sisters; Christine Newcomb, Montesano, Wash., and Margaret Blaine, Miami, Fla. Barb is preceded in death by her parents.
Barb was known for her constant pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. She loved to be very active in any way she could including a new love of stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, bicycling, walking and running which led her to enter her 1st 5k run event in her 60s.
Family was at the center of everything Barb did. She communicated daily with her daughter Cheryl to share all the fun things she was excited to do or had done each day. She loved visiting her daughter Connie and granddaughter Bella in Hawaii as often as four times a year or as often as she could get away with. Barb and her daughter Lisa shared a love of fitness, fashion and home design that made for lively conversations. Lisa and Barb laughed over Barb’s inability to make a decision about just about everything.
Barb and her husband Jeff retired together and spent those retirement years exploring their common interests such as taking long motorcycle rides, hiking, and taking cruises to both Alaska and Europe. They also chose to enjoy some of Barb’s favorite pursuits like spending time at their lake cabin, enjoying time with her kids and extended family and enjoying the flowers and yard at their home. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Montesano Volunteer Fire Department. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Whiteside in Elma. A celebration of Barb’s life will begin at noon on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at the United Methodist Church of Montesano.

Velma Maxine McKinlay
Velma Maxine McKinlay, 87, died peacefully Wednesday June 11, 2014, at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam. Velma was born on Oct. 24, 1926, in Aberdeen, Wash., to James and Marie (Trombley) Seyler. She attended Miller Junior High and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1944.
Velma married
Olaf Henry (“Hank”) Wicklund in 1947 and together they had two sons, Bruce and Craig. They divorced in 1968. At her 25th high school reunion in 1969, Velma reunited with Edward Higgins McKinlay and they married
the following year. Pasco, Wash., was their home for almost 30 years. Ed passed away in 1999 in Pasco and Velma then moved back to the Harbor.
Velma worked as a legal secretary at the Ingram and Zelasko law firm in Aberdeen and later as an administrative assistant for Columbia Basin College in Pasco.
Velma was an avid reader of literature and current events. She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to several bridge groups that met regularly. She loved to garden and took classes to become a WSU Master Gardener.
Velma is survived by her sons: Bruce M. (Julie) Wicklund of San Francisco, Calif., and Craig H. (Kristine) Wicklund of Kenmore, Wash.; five grandchildren: Adrienne and Andrew (Kenmore), and Aaron, Ethan and Jared (San Francisco); and one sister: Barbara Orwick of Corydon, Indiana.
In addition to her husband, Velma was preceded in death by two sisters: Helene Sherk and Virginia Jane Petersen, and two brothers: Francis and Robert Seyler.
There will be a private gathering for close friends and family Saturday, June 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Polson Museum, located 1611 Riverside in Hoquiam to celebrate Velma’s life.

Madonna M. Hall
Madonna M. Hall, a resident of Sun City West, Ariz., for the past five years and a former resident of Grays Harbor died on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Wash., at the age of 70. Madonna was born on Oct. 17, 1942, in the Hoquiam General Hospital to Voyl “Bud” and Celest Marie (DeLateur) Wright. She graduated from Hoquiam High School with the Class of 1960.
Following high school, she had worked at the paper mill in Hoquiam. In the early 1960’s she was married
to Don Barr and they later divorced. Madonna had made her home in California for a few years.
While living in Aberdeen she had worked as a meter maid, for the Aberdeen water department, as a custodian for Aberdeen schools and as a realtor for Coldwell Banker.
In 1981 Madonna was married
to Allen Hall and he survives at the family home. Besides her husband, she is survived by four children, Don Barr in Maryland, Sean Barr of Petaluma, Calif., Stephanie Barr of Fairfax, Calif., and Debbie Smitham of Graham, Wash.; one brother, Joe Wright of Scappoose, Ore.; four grandchildren, Dillon Barr and Abby Barr of Petaluma, Calif., Jeoff Barr in Minnesota and Tony Barr of Olympia; four nieces, Jodie Wright of Aberdeen, Julie Wright of Aberdeen, Joell Wright of Ocean Shores and Jennifer Wright of Westport and other relatives.

A celebration of life service will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014, in the Church Lounge of the Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church in Hoquiam.
