Kenneth R. Anderson
Longtime Harborite Kenneth Ray Anderson Sr., died Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. He was 79.
He operated the service station that was located at the corners of Point Brown Avenue and Chance a La Mer in Ocean Shores for many years.
Inurnment will be held in the Mountain View cemetery Mausoleum in Tacoma.
Arrangements are by Coleman Mortuary, 422 5th Street in Hoquiam.
Christina L. Williams
TACOMA -- Harborite Christina Louise Williams died Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at Orchard Park Health and Rehabilitation in Tacoma. She was 59.
She had worked for Rainier Bank in Aberdeen and Seattle, Anchor Bank in Aberdeen and as an internal auditor for the Washington State Lottery.
Donations may be made to Harbors Home Health and Hospice, 201 Seventh Street, Hoquiam, WA 98550.
Private inurnment will be held in the Wynooche cemetery in Montesano.
A celebration of her life will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 26, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Aberdeen.
Arrangements are by Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
Cathleen A. Black
PORT ANGELES -- Cathleen Ann Black, a former longtime Harborite, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at the Olympic Memorial Hospital in Port Angeles. She was 63 and an enrolled member of the Quinault Indian Nation.
She had worked in the construction industry as a flagger and pilot car driver in the peninsula area.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20 and 21, at the Coleman Mortuary, 422 5th Street in Hoquiam. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 22, at the Taholah Shaker Church in Taholah.
Johanna "Jody" J. Arnsparger
Grayland resident Johanna "Jody" Jean Arnsparger died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at Westhaven Villa in Aberdeen. She was 63.
Arrangements are by Harrison Family Mortuary of Aberdeen.
Josephine Loomis
OLYMPIA -- Josephine B. Loomis, a lifetime South Bend resident, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, in Olympia. She was 94.
At her request there will be no memorial services at this time.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Alder House in South Bend.

Harold Owen Prater
Westport resident Harold Owen Prater passed away July 2, 2010 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. He was 78. Harold was born October 10, 1931 in Henderson County, Tennessee to King and Maggie (Farmer) Prater.
Harold was raised in Lexington, Tenn., and had also lived in Michigan where he received his GED from Redford High School and graduated from Detroit Engineering Institute and earned his Unlimited Mechanical Contractors license before moving to Grays Harbor in 1993.

Dawn Mathews in Bullhead City, Ariz. She survives him at the family home.
Harold had worked as an over the road truck driver for Kroger Grocery and Fago Beverage. He also owned and operated his own Commercial Heating and Cooling business in the State of Michigan.
Harold enjoyed motorcycle riding, billiards and spending time with friends. He was a member of the Grays Harbor Amateur Ham Radio Club, BMW Motorcycle Owners of America and attended both Cornerstone Community Church and Harbor City Church in Aberdeen.
In addition to his wife Dawn, Harold is survived by his sons, David Prater of Lexington, Tenn, ; Paul Daniels of Canton, Mich.; daughters, Vicky Prater of Mo.; Sheila Prater of Lacey and Jennifer Surmi of San Francisco, Calif.; a sister Betty Hardaway of Lincoln, Ala.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Cornerstone Community Church located at 2008 Sumner Ave., in Aberdeen.
Memorial donations are suggested to Cornerstone Community Church or Harbor City Church, 1700 Cherry St., Aberdeen, WA 98520.

Montesano resident Kenneth L. Mathews died Thursday, July 15, 2010, in an apparent drowning in the Wynooche River. He was 51. Arrangements are pending through Harrison Family Mortuary of Aberdeen.

Penny Lynn Smith died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at her home in Aberdeen. She was 51.

Jude Leon Miller
LAS VEGAS, NEV. -- Jude Leon Miller, the 15-month-old son of former Aberdeen residents Kenny and Trina Miller, died July 7, 2010. The family had moved to Las Vegas last September.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. July 24, at the Grays Harbor Foursquare Church, 4800 Central Park Dr.
Arrangements are by Coleman Mortuary of Hoquiam. Donations for the Jude Miller Fund may be made to offset medical costs at River of Life Fellowship, 308 W. King St., Aberdeen, 98520.
Gary Wayne Buchanan
OLYMPIA -- Longtime Grays Harbor resident Gary Wayne Buchanan died July 4, 2010, in Olympia. He was 70.
He grew up in McCleary and is a graduate of Elma High School class of 1958. He also lived in Aberdeen, Federal Way and Olympia.
Arrangements are by the Whiteside Family Mortuary in Elma.
Robert Ryan Sheets
ELMA -- Robert Ryan Sheets died July 15, 2010, at his home in Elma. He was 85 years old.
Mr. Sheets worked for the Simpson Timber Co. in McCleary and Shelton for 42 years and retired from the company in 1985.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. July 22 at Masonic Cemetary in Elma. The family requests donations be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are by Whiteside Family Mortuary in Elma.
Betty Jayne Welsh
Betty Jayne Welsh, 88 years of age and a resident of Illahee, Washington, died on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at her home in Illahee. She was born on March 2, 1922, in Arlington, Washington to Victor and Helen (Chatten) Hugo.
Her family came to the harbor area when she was a child and she attended school in Westport and Aberdeen.
Betty was married
to Bill Weakley in 1941 in the harbor area. He died in 1961. During the 1950s and 1960s she had been a longtime foster parent.
In 1965 Betty was married
to Robert Eugene “Gene” Welsh. The couple lived in Hoquiam until 1979 when they moved to Illahee where she had since resided.
She was an member of the V.F.W. and the Eagles Auxiliaries and belonged to the Sweet Adelines and volunteered as a Gray Lady for various nursing homes. She enjoyed being a league bowler, knitting, crocheting, gardening and clam digging.
Betty is survived by her husband, Gene Welsh of the family home at Illahee; her daughters, Sherri Straughn of Hoquiam, Susan Evanson (Carl) of Aberdeen and Sunny Wilson (Dan) of Ocean Shores; two brothers, Victor R. Hugo in Idaho and Terry Hugo of Port Angeles; one sister, Patty (Taylor) Wilson of Sacramento; her grandchildren, Matt Evanson of Aberdeen, Joshua Evanson (Nicole) of Aberdeen, Iris Rasanen (William) of Vancouver, WA, Severn Evanson of Olympia, Fred M. Straughn of Salt Lake City, Utah, Julie Rickman of Texas, Danny Wilson (Fawn) of Cosmopolis, Trisha Wilson of Cosmopolis and Scott Wilson (Heather) of Cosmopolis; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Two sons, Richard C. Weakley and Tommy Weakley died previously.
At her request, there will be no service.

MONTESANO -- Former Raymond resident Virginia Mary Mundy, the long time "Queen of the Willapa Harbor Care Center" for 38 years, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at her daughter's home in Montesano. She was 72.
A celebration of life is being planned and a complete obituary will appear later.
