Rose Irene Faleide

Rose Irene Faleide, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died at home in Kennewick on February 4, 2012 after a mercifully brief bout with cancer.
Rose was born in Rake, Iowa on September 4, 1920 to parents Anfin and Georgina Halvorson.
The first of five children, Rose remembered a very happy childhood.
In 1936 the family traveled to Norway where Rose got to know her father's family, whom she corresponded with throughout her life.
Rose graduated from Rake High School, worked as a nurses' aide in Minneapolis, and for the war effort during WWII.
She married
Allan Faleide in 1946, after Allan's honorable discharge from the Navy.
They surprised their families by moving to Washington in 1948.
Allan worked as an electrician at the Hanford Project until his retirement.
Their four children, Mark, Gloria, Joan, and Karen, were all raised in Kennewick.
Rose enjoyed participating in her singing group, crocheting, reading, and being on the go with Allan.
They traveled to many points of interest throughout the US during their 61 years of marriage.
Rose greatly looked forward to Heaven after Allan's death in 2007.
We celebrate her home-going, although we will miss her dearly.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Anfin and Georgina; husband Allan; and brother Harlan. Rose is survived by her sisters, Laurel Mathews of Blue Earth, MN and Jeannine Kittson of Rake, IA; brother Terry Halvorson of Bricelyn, MN; sisters-in-law Janelle Johnson of Albert Lea, MN and Millie Halvorson of Wells, MN; son Mark (Deb) Faleide of San Antonio, TX; daughters Gloria (Tom) Bender, Joan (Dan) Crager, and Karen (Clyde) Redman of Kennewick, WA; and many special nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 10th Avenue and Union Street in Kennewick with viewing from 5 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Chaplaincy, 1480 Fowler Street, Richland, WA, 99352 for the loving care Rose received from Hospice.
Ardith Lewis Smith
Born in Lehi, Utah on Jun. 26, 1913

Ardith L. Smith passed away peacefully on February 3rd, 2012 at the age of 98 in Kennewick, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her four sisters, Iola, Anna, Fawn and Agnes, and her beloved husband, Ford, to whom she was married
for 52 wonderful and loving years.
Ardith is survived by her family; daughter Sharon and husband Bill Roberts; sons Robert and Ronald; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Both Ardith and Ford were born and grew up in Lehi, Utah and later married
in Salt Lake City.
Not long after, the newlywed couple migrated to Toppenish, Washington and then onto the Tri-Cities in 1962.
Her husband, Ford, was a prominent banker in the Tri-Cities and, as a couple, they often were in attendance at numerous social events.
Together they enjoyed traveling to various countries around the world.
Ardith was a very social person with a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with her many longtime friends right up until the time of her death.
She was also an avid golfer; she was a member of the Tri-City Country Club for 50 years.
Ardith enjoyed playing Bridge and bowled in a ladies league for many years.
Perhaps her greatest passion was her beautiful flower gardens she had throughout her life.
She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
There will be no services in honor of Ardith's wishes.

Edward Dale Montgomery
Born in Pekin, Illinois on Apr. 27, 1916

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather Edward Dale Montgomery passed away on February 2, 2012, at Kennewick, Washington at the age of 95, after losing a 2-year battle with bone cancer.
Edward was born on April 27, 1916 in Pekin, Illinois to John Cleveland Montgomery and Bessie Grace Hull Montgomery.
He was the fourth of eight children (5 boys and 3 girls).
Baptized a Lutheran in early childhood, he received his education in Tazwell County, Illinois.
He had to quit school in the 11th grade so that he could help support his family.
In May of 1938, Ed met the love of his life, Wanda L. Collins; and they were married
on December 3, 1938 at Fort Madison, Iowa.
In May 1940, son Jerry Cleveland Montgomery was born in Pekin, Illinois.
Ed worked at Corn Products Co. in Illinois until World War II started.
During the war, Ed and Wanda worked at a rocket powder plant (Hercules Powder Co.) in Sunflower, Kansas.
This was very dangerous work, and wife Wanda's beautiful auburn hair was bleached almost white from nitroglycerin fumes by the end of the war.
After the war, the family of 3 moved out West to Longview, Washington, to join other family members who had already gone West.
Son Larry Dale Montgomery was born in Longview, Washington on February 24, 1950.
Ed worked at the Longview Fiber paper mill in Longview for many years.
The family lived in Colfax, Washington for 6 years, 1960 through 1965, where he was a Star Route mail contractor.
Ed and Wanda and son Larry moved to Kennewick, Washington in 1965, where Ed also worked as a Star Route mail contractor trucking mail from Pasco to Richland, Kiona, Benton City, and Prosser.
During daily layovers from the truck route, Ed started the first letter mail box delivery route in the Horse Heaven Hills working out of Prosser and Mabton.
Ed retired from the mail routes in 1974; but he still wasn't really retired.
He was part owner/manager/bookkeeper for the Foam Shop and Ace's Upholstery in Kennewick from 1985 to 2005.
He finally retired for real in 2005 at the age of 89.
He was a resident of Kennewick for 47 years.
Ed is survived by his wife of 73 years, Wanda Montgomery in Kennewick, his son Jerry Montgomery and daughter-in-law Linda Montgomery in Richland, and son Larry Montgomery in Anchorage, Alaska.
Ed is also survived by sister Margo Brown in Florida, 2 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father, mother, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and beloved grandson Edward "Eddie" Montgomery.
Ed was a kind and gentle man, who was always willing to help others out.
His favorite activities were hunting and fishing with his sons and working on automobiles.
He spent many enjoyable hours finding and fixing automotive problems.
He did all of his own mechanic work for many years on his mail trucks and cars; and he maintained the entire family's vehicles for many years until well into his 80's when this work become too difficult for him.
He didn't have to join clubs or organizations to be happy.
His happiness was his work and his family.
He also enjoyed traveling around the country with his wife Wanda and his beloved dog, April.
At Ed's request, there will be no services.
He will be buried at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick, Washington.

Our family wishes to thank Dr. Ranji Pillai, M.D., Kennewick General Hospital and the wonderful people at Hospice who made a very difficult time so much easier.
Joseph John Jacobs

Joseph John Jacobs, of Kennewick, Washington, lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Joseph was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in the spring of 2010, but made every possible effort to fight back.
He was 62 years young and anticipated much longer time to enjoy with his family.
He was born in Mocanaqua, Pennsylvania, the youngest of five to Anna and Stephen Jacobs, Sr. Joseph was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Joseph's caring and big heart never ceased to amaze anyone on how much he could or would do for people.
He put his life on the line in Vietnam to serve his country and become a better man, and carried out his traits until the day he took his journey with God.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; his oldest son, Stephen; his only daughter, Amanda; his two youngest son's Vincent and Nicholas; his granddaughter Aubrey; and expected grandson in March.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 10th, 2012, 1:00 p.m., at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 10th and Union Street, Kennewick, with viewing and Rosary Thursday beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Mary Margaret McDonald

Mary Margaret (Peggy) McDonald passed away February 6, 2012 in Pasco.
She was born February 16, 1927 in Pinos Altos, New Mexico, U.S.A.
She came to live in the Tri-Cities when her husband, Robert was stationed at Camp Hanford in 1951, and has made her home here since.
She is survived by her husband, Robert R. McDonald, at home; Two sons, James R. (Yong), Federal Way, Washington, and John T., Auckland, New Zealand; Two daughters, Nancy C. (Joe) Trom, Agoura, California and Bobbie J. (Carl) Littrell, Kennewick, Washington; a Sister, Connie Lascurain, Reseda, California; Three Grandchildren, Shauna McDonald, Traci McDonald-Jayme, and Margaret (Merrick) Barnes; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Beth McDonald and son-in-law, Joe Trom.
