Mary Grace Zilar

Mary passed away peacefully the morning of July 10, 2010 in Kennewick, WA at the age of 97.
Mary was born December 19, 1912 in Denver, Colorado to Parents Steve and Grace Newton.
She grew up on the Newton Sanitary Dairy in the Denver area which was the family dairy farm with two older brothers, Robert and Steve.
Mary's father had the first gasoline powered milk truck in Denver in 1916.
She graduated from Union High School as Salutatorian in Adams City, Colorado in 1931 with a scholarship to the University of Denver, School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance.
She married
her long time sweetheart, William B. Zilar, October 19, 1932 in Denver.
They spent time with college, worked and resided in the Denver area and raised three sons: Bill Jr., Dick and John.
Upon hearing about the WWII effort at the Hanford site in Washington, Dad applied for a job and was selected to be employed as a Machinist.
Mary followed her husband to Richland, Washington with the three young boys, arriving on Decoration Day of 1944.
She enjoyed raising her boys, gardening, sewing and baking, especially apple pies.
In 1946, a fourth boy, Larry, was born in Richland.
She kept busy with her husband, four sons, other families who moved here making many friends.
She was a full time housewife taking on several part time jobs to help the family income.
Mary and Bill ran a Ceramic business for several years and Mary created some of the most beautiful lace dolls you have seen.
She did needlepoint and sewed clothing for family and friends.
She couldn't be idle and was always getting involved with crafts or playing cards.
Mary and Bill liked to spend their weekends playing Pinochle with some life long friends.
Mary continued to play Pinochle with her girls club until the age of 96.
She always looked forward to spending time with her girlfriends.
Mary knew God and was an active member of the Catholic Church.
She was an active member of Christ the King until 1955 and upon moving to Kennewick became active at St. Josephs.
When the Holy Spirit Parish was built in Kennewick, she was a charter member.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William (Bill) Zilar and her son, Richard (Dick) Zilar. Also preceding her in death were her Mother (Grace), Father (Steve), Brother (Robert) and Brother (Steve).
She is survived by her 3 sons, their wives and daughter-in-law: William B. (Norma) Zilar Jr., John A. (Linda) Zilar and Larry J. (Mary) Zilar and daughter-in-law, Sherril Zilar.
There are also 17 Grandchildren, 46 Great-Grandchildren and numerous Great-Great-Grandchildren.
She is also survived by her close Nephews, Robert (Marcie) Newton, Bill (Edna) Newton, Herbert (Pina) Newton and Niece, Irene (Newton) Young.
Visitation will be from 3 PM to 8 PM, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 PM on Sunday July 18 at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home located at 1401 S. Union St.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Parish of the Holy Spirit at 11 AM on Monday July 19 with lunch reception to follow.
The Rite of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Hospice at The Chaplaincy, 2108 W. Entiat Ave., Kennewick, WA 99336.
Carmeta (Fern) Fern Seat
Born in Allendale, Missouri on Sep. 1, 1912
Departed on Jul. 13, 2010 and resided in Kennewick, WA.

"Fern" was born September 1, 1912, in Allendale, Missouri to Henry Payne and Sarah Ellen Sims.
She was raised on a farm outside of Allendale, Missouri and attended school in Allendale and Grant City, Missouri.
She then attended Missouri State Teachers College and taught school in a small country school near Allendale.
Fern married
Lawrence "Larry" Seat and together they raised three children: Joyce Ellen, Darel Lynn and Gary Lawrence.
In 1949 Fern, Larry and family moved to Washington, living in Kennewick, Pasco and finally, Burbank.
For the past 5 years she has resided at The Vineyard, an adult family home in Kennewick.
Fern was very active in church. She played the piano, organ and sang in the choir.
She taught Sunday School classes for many years.
She and Larry were charter members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pasco, and Trinity Baptist Church in Burbank.
She was also very proud of being Grand Worthy Matron in Eastern Star and a member of Columbia Valley Grange.
Fern was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Larry, one brother, Russell Melbourn Sims, and her parents, Henry and Sarah Sims.
Fern leaves to miss her very much, her daughter Joyce Rouse and husband Ken, son Darel Seat and wife Mary, son Gary Seat and wife Cheryl.
Grandchildren Shauna Guajardo (Rudy), Lonnie Rouse (Melinda), Eric Seat (Selena), Kim Farrell and grandchildren by marriage, Dianne Turner (Jerry) and Corinne Ray (Mark).
She also leaves great-grandchildren Kameron, Kendra, Christopher, Austin, Devan, Brennan, Caitlin, Nathan, Jaden, Andre and Stellan as well as great-grandchildren by marriage, Behr, Mara, Jasen, Jennifer, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She also leaves her brother Paul Sims, his daughter Debbie Chambers (Rick) and daughter Kayla.
A very special "thanks" to Delores Vasquez and her family for the love and care they gave Mom at The Vineyard Adult Family Home.
Graveside services will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick on Friday, July 16th, at 10 a.m. and a Celebration of Life at Trinity Baptist Church in Burbank on Friday, July 16th at 11 a.m.
Donald Joseph Hopstad

Donald Joseph Hopstad, husband, father, and grandfather left this earth unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 13, 2010.
He was born in Glasgow, Montana on April 8, 1942 to Henry 'Hank' and Gwen Hopstad.
Don met Dolly in grade school and they were an item off and on through junior high and high school.
They married
May 18, 1963 in Glasgow.
They were blessed with two sons, Donnie in 1964 and James in 1965.
Don, Dolly and sons moved to Kennewick in 1966.
Don worked for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring after 36 years in August 2003.
He loved golf and his golfing buddies will miss him and his stories.
Don is survived by his wife, Dolly; sons Donnie and James; grandchildren, Tyrone, Joshua, Vanessa, Frank, Andrew and Carly; and great grandson Zion; siblings Gwen 'Sis' Anderson of Billings, MT, Charlie (Berta), Floyd (Alice), Mary Hopstad, Alan Hopstad all of Glasgow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his father 'Hank,' mother Gwen, brothers Henry and Lloyd, and grandson Frank Vincent.
A memorial service for Don will be held at 2 pm Friday, July 16, 2010 at Mueller's Chapel of the Falls, 314 West 1st Avenue, Kennewick, WA.
Reception will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dillon Hall, 605 South Garfield in Kennewick.

Richard Bush
Born in Hamlett, Hayes, NE. on Jun. 19, 1931
Departed on Nov. 14, 2010 and resided in Kennewick, WA.
Richard O. (Dick) Bush passed away peacefully at his home in Kennewick, Washington on November 14th 2010.
He was born on June 19th 1931 in Hamlet, Nebraska to Oral E. and Laura Witzke Bush.
Dick lost both of his parents at a young age and was raised by extended relatives in Nebraska and grew up farming and ranching.
At the age of 19, he and two friends (Richard Large and Billy Creasman) hitch-hiked across Nebraska to join the Cornhusker Marine Recruit Platoon out of Omaha, after boot camp in San Diego his platoon was deployed to Korea.
When Dick was honorably discharged he returned to Nebraska and worked for a short time on the old ranch.
He later started a long successful career as a Heavy Equipment Operator in which he learned to operate almost every type of equipment made.
He worked on all of the major hydroelectric projects along the Snake River and the WNP projects where he was involved in digging the hole for the Columbia River Generating Plant's Nuclear Reactor.
Dick always had a love for horses and cattle and enjoyed spending his spare time roping in Rodeo's and Team Ropings all over the Pacific Northwest. He was always proud of the fact that he earned more than he spent in competing in these events.
Later in life, Dick was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and became a faithful member of the Church and eventually was ordained to the office of a High Priest and served in various Church callings.
Dick met Louise McDowell Johnson in 1977 and the two were married
in West Richland on October 28th 1977.
One year later on October 28th 1978 they were sealed together for time and all Eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Arthur R. Bush and Pauline F. Bodeman, father in-law John McDowell, sister in-law Linda Sillito, brother in-law Stephen McDowell.
Dick is survived by his loving wife Louise, children James E. Bush, Goldendale, WA; Marlene K. Suarez (Joe), Kennewick, WA; Billy J. Bush, Goldendale, WA; Ronnie L. Bush (Tina), Kennewick, WA; Rhonda L. Norling, Kennewick, WA; Wayne E. Johnson, Washougal, WA; Tim A. Johnson, Camas, WA; Lori L. Davis (Bryan), West Richland, WA; Tonya K. Neville (Joseph), Medford, OR; 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Angelica M. Garza

Angelica M. Garza passed away peacefully from cancer on November 21, 2010 in Richland, Wa, Surrounded by her family.
She will be missed by many, but especially by her family.
She was born June 2, 1970 in Raymondville, TX, to Pedro and Maria Hernandez.
She graduated from Raymondville High School in 1989 and attended some college courses at Columbia Basin College.
She moved to Tri-Cities in 1991 where she met her husband, Eduardo Garza Sr. in 1993.
She was an administrative assistant and then co-owner at Eduardo's Café with her husband.
Angelica loved boating, picnicking and being outdoors with her children and grandchildren.
She had a huge heart and laugh that could be heard for miles.
The love she had for everyone was unconditional.
Our home was always full of family during the holidays, where she loved being the host.
She welcomed everyone to our home with open doors.
Angelica is survived by her husband, Eduardo Garza Sr. of Kennewick, Wa; daughters, Alexandria M Silva of Pasco, Wa and Alyssa L Garza of Kennewick, Wa; sons, Ethen E Garza, Eduardo Garza Jr. and Esteban Garza of Kennewick, Wa; grandsons, Jayden A Flemming and Brian L Flemming of Pasco, Wa, father, Pedro Hernandez and mother, Maria Hernandez of Lasara, Tx; sister, San Juanita Hernandez of Lasara, Tx; sister, Maria Angelita Garza of Pasco, Wa; brothers, Pedro Hernandez Jr. and David Hernandez of Pasco, Wa; sister, Rosalva Coronado of Connell, Wa; sisters, Maricela Ayala and Maria Melida Olvera of Raymondville, Tx; brother, Agustin Jaime Hernandez of Lasara, Tx; Brother Noe Vallejo of Kennewick, Wa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
