Dorothy Aaring Adams
Dorothy Aaring Adams, age 88, passed away at home on September 8, 2008.
Dorothy was born on January 10, 1920 and was raised in and around the Pullman area.
She married
Tom Aaring in 1937 and from this marriage they had three daughters, Julie, Janice, and Sandy.
Dorothy moved to the Kennewick area in the early 70's and married
Jack Adams.
Dorothy was known for her love of animals, especially horses.
She bred and raised horses but her obsession was race horses.
She was one the first women to train race horses in the Tri-Cities.
She trained her own horses until an injury from a broken hip forced her to cease training.
She went to work for Tri-Cities Horse Racing Association as the Horsemen Bookkeeper and assisted in the race office at Walla Walla.
Dorothy worked part time at the Kennewick Quarter Horse Farm and became great friends with owner Miss Abigail Kawananakoa of Hawaii.
Surviving her is one brother, Robert Young of Pullman, daughters Julie Green of Kelso, Janice Link of Mukilteo and Sandy Hoyem of Kennewick, 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Cremation has taken place.
Per Dorothy's request no funeral service will be held.
A memorial race will be held at SunDowns race track in April 2009 during the race meet to honor Dorothy.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held in conjunction with the memorial race.
Glenna Marie Knoll
Born in Cavalier, North Dakota on May 13, 1924
Departed on Sep. 27, 2008 and resided in Kennewick, WA.
Glenna Burke Knoll, Loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend has left this earth peacefully in her sleep September 27, 2008.
She lived a long and full life.
Glenna was born May 13, 1924, the third child of Arthur and Florence Burke in Cavalier, North Dakota.
She was a dedicated and caring nurse at Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
It was there, in the fall of 1946, that she met the love of her life, Clem.
They married
in September of 1947.
After Clem graduated from the University of North Dakota the young couple started moving.
Glenna gave birth to four children (Tom, Bob, Sue, and Richard) while living in North Dakota and then the family moved to California.
After a few years in California, Glenna had another son (Don).
The family then moved to Damascus, Maryland where Glenna had her fifth son (Andrew).
They lived in Maryland for several more years before making their final move to Kennewick, Washington.
Clem retired in 1980 and the two became snowbirds, traveling from Washington to Arizona for several years.
Glenna was the heart of her family and will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
Glenna loved the outdoors and camping.
She loved the colors during the changes of season.
Many a trip was made up to the mountains to see the snow melting.
She also loved the ocean.
She loved birds, dragonflies, and butterflies.
Her backyard was a tribute to all three.
She enjoyed playing cards with anyone who would sit down with her.
There was always a puzzle on the table being worked on or a game being played with a grandchild.
The grandchildren will remember the candy jars that were hidden all over the house and her insistence that they were there for them.
The grandma who's giggle was contagious when she'd get started.
She had a wonderful ability to connect with each grandchild no matter the age or attitude!
Glenna is survived by her husband of 61 years Clement Knoll, her sisters Bette (Walt) Ault and Marion (Gus) Sagert. Glenna and Clem's children, Son Tom (Judy) Knoll of Everett, PA, Son Bob (Ella) Knoll, of Cooksville, MD, Daughter Sue (Chuck) Anderson of Finley, WA, Son Richard (April) Knoll of Lakeport, CA, Son Donald (Jeri) Knoll of Yakima, WA, and Son Andrew (Sherri) Knoll of West Richland, WA.
She will also be missed by her grandchildren Troy (Angie) Knoll, Adam Knoll, Bobbi Ann (Brad) Fulcher, Paula (Rob) McConnell, Melissa (Scott) Yenko, Ann (Andy) Jenness, Kelli Anderson, Kellan Knoll, Mikala Knoll, Thomas (Ezzy) Knoll, David Knoll and Breanne Jorgensen.
She leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Glenna is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Florence Burke, brothers Don Burke and Maurice Burke and grandson Nicholas Anderson

A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, October 11, 2008, 11:00am, at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home located at 1401 South Union Street in Kennewick.
Edwin (Ed) Duane Boomer
Born in Richmond, California on Mar. 7, 1947

Edwin Duane Boomer (Ed), age 61, of Richland, passed away unexpectedly at home from heart failure on Sunday, September 28, 2008.
Ed was born March 7, 1947 to Edwin & Velta Boomer in Richmond, CA.
He was proud to be the son of a World War II Navy veteran and a mother whose work at the Army and Navy supply depots in Richmond also supported the war effort.
His sister, Carolyn, was born 6 years later, after which the family moved to the Modesto, CA area, settling in Waterford on a property with a small walnut orchard.
His childhood was spent there, and he graduated from Oakdale High School in 1965.
He loved acting and theater in high school, playing the lead role in his senior play, "Living With Father."
He graduated from Modesto Junior College and attended California State University, Stanislaus campus.
Ed and Rebekah Nelson, his first wife, were married
in 1967.
They were blessed with their son, Brian Edwin, in 1970.
The young family spent nearly 20 years together, raising Brian and pursuing their careers.
They ultimately realized their lives needed to go in different directions, yet always remained good friends.
In 1968, Ed began a rewarding career in the title insurance business and would have celebrated his 40th anniversary with Chicago Title on October 21st.
In Modesto, he managed a department that specialized in subdivisions and was well-known and respected throughout California's Central Valley.
He transferred to the company's Kennewick office in 1994, parlaying those years of technical experience into sales and customer service.
He received many company and industry awards, both in California and Washington.
Ed and Linda Weaver (Boomer) were married
in Bermuda in June 1991.
They met through Chicago Title, when she needed help on a subdivision plat.
They often joked that in her case, he took customer service to a whole new level!
They lived in Modesto until 1994 while she finished her college education, after which they moved to Richland.
Ed inherited his father's green thumb and had a great talent for landscaping, always having a meticulous, beautiful yard.
He was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan, and could tell you about every touchdown, fumble, and every "bad call" the refs made against his team.
He loved traveling - especially trips to the beach with Linda and his "girls", mini-dachshunds, Rita and Rosie.
An ardent student of Civil War history, a lifelong wish to visit battlefields in Virginia and surrounding areas was fulfilled in April of this year.
Ed is survived by his wife, Linda of Richland; son Brian of Yosemite, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Jim Honberger of Sonora, CA; nephew Travis Moore and niece Melody Moore Barter of Modesto, CA; former wife Rebekah of Yosemite, CA; cousins Janice Curler, Jerry Owens and Phil Owens; and in-laws Joe and Mona Weaver, Sherri Weaver, John and Maria Weaver, Jack Weaver and his son Jerad, all in Washington state.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edwin and Velta Boomer.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4th, at 1:00 pm, at the First United Methodist Church located at 2 South Dayton Street in Kennewick with a reception following.

Mang Thi Tran

Mang Thi Tran, 77 of Pasco, WA, passed away Friday, October 3, 2008 in Residence.
She was born Wednesday, December 31, 1930 in Hau Nghia, Vietnam, Moving to the United States in 1989 from Vietnam.
She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and a Homemaker for all.
Survived by her daughter Thu Ha and husband CD Judd. Granddaughter Tam Le and husband Ton Thai. Grandsons William and wife Joy Judd; Weston Judd and all of her great granchildren: Nicholas Vinh, Steven Huy and Elizabeth Tran Thai and Joseph Dean Judd all of Pasco, except for Weston who is in San Diego, CA. 2 Brothers and 1 Sister that live in Vietnam.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruong Van Tran, and her parents.
Viewing will be held at Sunday from 3-6pm and Monday from 3-8pm at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home 1608 W. Court St. Pasco.
Cremation Services will follow at the Desert Lawn Crematory, in Kennewick on Tuesday.
Gerald Raymond Hawley Sr.
