Delores Joy Taylor
October 8, 1935 - June 7, 2010
Delores Joy Taylor, a long time resident of Colville, WA went home into the loving arms of Jesus on June 7, 2010 at her home with her husband at her side. She was born on October 8, 1935 in Coeur d’Alene, ID the daughter of JB and Ruby (Prinzing) Walker.
Delores was raised and attended school in the Coeur d’Alene area and graduated from high school in 1953. She attended a wedding and met Roland Taylor, and they themselves were married
seven days later on March 24, 1954 in Coeur d’Alene just before Roland left to serve in the United States Navy. They later moved to Colville in 1962 where Delores worked hard raising her family. She also found time to work part time in the local school district.
Delores was very active in her church ministry, especially in girl’s and women’s ministries, as well as many other forms of ministry. She was an avid quilter and belonged to the local quilting guild. Her creative touch also showed in the beautiful cards she made. Delores was very compassionate and caring, and will be remembered for years to come for sharing her wonderful homemade bread and soups with friends and family. Delores was always full of joy and had an excitement for life. She passionately loved her God, her family, friends and church family!
Delores is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roland Taylor, her son David Taylor and wife Shannon of Colville, WA, her daughter Loretta Pearson and husband Larry of Colville, WA, her grandson Ryonn Taylor and wife Belinda of Maryland, great grandchildren Kiera and Daelan Taylor of Maryland, her brothers Reid Walker and wife Judy, Bruce Walker and wife Virginia, Dean Walker and wife Mabel and Danny Walker and wife Nancy, brother-in-laws Roy Taylor and Russell Taylor and wife Holly, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia Lee Dixon
July 17, 1944 - June 5, 2010
Virginia ‘Ginger’ Lee Dixon, 65, went home to be with her Lord on June 5, 2010. She was born July 17, 1944 in Spokane, Washington to Wiley and Della (Duncan) Bryson. Ginger was raised and attended school in Spokane. She married
at the age of 15 to her lifelong partner and love of her life, Reece Dixon Jr. In 1962, they homesteaded in Fairbanks, Alaska living there for 10 years before returning to Washington State. Ginger loved being a wife and mother, and was a loving mother to 7 children by the age of 19. Her greatest love was serving her Lord and raising her family.
Ginger was active with PTA, FHA, and a past member of the Williams Lake Community Church serving as a deaconess. With the help of her family, she founded and ran the Williams Lake Community Food Bank for many years. Ginger was an active member of the Columbia River Bible Church in Kettle Falls, where she was a blessing to all.
After raising her seven children, Ginger attended the Spokane Community College, Colville branch, earning an Associate’s degree in accounting. Ginger’s favorite outdoor pastime was spent with her family camping, fishing, and hunting. She was a talented crafter, making beautiful items to share with her family and friends.
Ginger was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Reece Robert Dixon Jr, and all others who went to Heaven before her. She is survived by her children, Linda Louie of Fairbanks, AK; Darrel Dixon of Colville, WA; Reece Dixon and Lynn of Phoenix, AZ; Della Pemberton and Chester of Colville, WA; George Dixon and Ramona of Chehalis, WA; Leona Pemberton and David of Colville, WA; and Patricia Schmitt and Jim of Newman Lake, WA; one brother, Wiley Bryson; three sisters, Bonnie James, Dorothy Reed, and Betty Bryson; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Columbia River Bible Church in Kettle Falls, WA with Pastor Randy Goodell presiding. A private family burial preceded the memorial service at the Spokane Memorial Gardens in Spokane, WA. Danekas Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
DOUGLAS LEROY CLARK
July 12, 1945 - June 2, 2010
Douglas 'Doug' Leroy Clark, a 23-year resident of the Colville and Addy, WA area, passed away on June 2, 2010. Doug was born on July 12, 1945 in Spokane, WA the son of Delbert Eugene and Lucille (Blake) Clark.
He was raised in Spokane, WA where he attended school. Doug began grade school at Willard Grade School, continued at Glover Junior High School and finished his education at North Central High School. In 1963 he began working for Burlington Northern Railroad. A couple of years later he went to work for Washington Machinery and Dakko before beginning a business partnership in Diversified Industries a hydraulic specialty company. In 1987, Doug moved to Colville and worked as the service manager for Family Ford. He continued his work as a service representative after transferring to Colmac Industries. Doug worked as a line technician in the parts and service division of Colman Industries for 8 years. He married
Linda D. Douvia on Aug. 12, 1989 in Reno, NV. Together they resided in Colville. In 1994, he and Linda purchased the Addy Inn which they have owned and operated for the past 16 years.
Doug was a man with great pride, a genuine dedication and a cherished 'softer-side'. He took great enjoyment in the delivery of a well played joke and well placed sarcasm. Doug enjoyed his many trips to Montana to visit friends, time relaxing at the lake and off-road motorbiking in his younger years. He was an avid Dale Earnhart Sr. fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR. For many years Doug was active in bowling leagues, the Chewelah American Legion, Deer Park Eagles, lifetime member of the Outsiders Car Club and a lifetime member of the Dukes Car Club. He was fun loving and embraced the lighter side of life.
Doug is survived by his wife, Linda Clark of Colville, WA; children, Wendy Hastings and husband, Gary of Colville, Ron Clark of Renton, WA, Del Clark and wife, Leah of Colville, Monica Clark and Blake Clark of both of Spokane, WA; five grandchildren, Jake, Colton, Jalayne, Aaron and Dakota.
A celebration of life and potluck will begin at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Addy Inn in Addy, WA. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Chewelah American Legion. Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted with the arrangements.
BONNIE M. MCKINNEY
April 20, 1933 - May 31, 2010
Bonnie M. McKinney went home to be with her Savior on May 31, 2010 at the age of 77, from her home in rural Addy, WA. Bonnie was born to Howard and Esther (Look) Taylor in Colville, WA on April 20, 1933.
Bonnie attended school in Colville where she met the love of her life, Denzil McKinney, and they were married
on November 22, 1950 in Colville. She spent 20 years as a military wife while her husband served in the United States Air Force. They raised their family while being stationed at various bases across the United States and overseas. Upon retirement from the military, they moved to the Seattle area where Denzil worked as a building contractor. They returned to Stevens County in 1992, where Bonnie spent her remaining years with her devoted husband.
Bonnie was very active in church where she taught Sunday School, and worked with other children’s programs. She taught herself to play the accordion, piano, and organ, and she played one or more of these at most churches she attended. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, and mighty prayer warrior. She loved the Lord with all her heart.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Denzil McKinney at the home, her 3 daughters Julie Bosarge of Auburn, WA, Linda Nusser of Puyallup, WA, and Teri Rose and her husband Scott of Gold Bar, WA, her two sons Donald McKinney of Washington D.C. and Steven McKinney and his wife Barbara of Arlington, WA, 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her 6 sisters Helen Brugger, Marva Walsh, Donna Bowlby, Joyce Deasey, Ellen Forbes and Mary Quade, her brother Larry Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother and father, 3 sisters Violet Baker, Delores Mason, and Anna Bauer and her 2 brothers Lawrence and Lenny Taylor. Bonnie is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
ALETA KAY NUTT
October 22, 1941 - May 30, 2010
Aleta K. Nutt, a resident of the Kettle Falls and Colville areas for over 60 years, passed away on May 30, 2010 at Priest Lake, ID while visiting family. Aleta was born on Oct. 22, 1941 in Ritzville, WA the daughter of William Fredrick and Ella Elizabeth (Arlt) Luiten.
As a young girl, Aleta moved with her mother and siblings to Rice, WA. There she began school in the country school house. The family later moved to Kettle Falls, WA and Aleta completed her Junior High and Senior High School education. She graduated in 1959 and continued her work as a phone operator for the Bell Telephone Company. On April 15, 1961, Aleta married
Clyde William Nutt at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Colville. Together they resided in Colville where they later built their home. Following the birth of their second daughter, Mikki, Aleta changed her career to homemaker and soon found it was her favorite. In 1996, after 35 years of marriage, Clyde passed away unexpectedly. Aleta then went to work for the U.S. Forest Service for a short time. She then worked as a customer service clerk for Safeway in Colville. Aleta retired from Safeway in 2009.
Aleta bowled for several years in a local league and always enjoyed the camaraderie. She also was a diligent gardener and paid special attention to the care of her yard and flowers. Aleta spent many hours reading and embracing her quiet time. She also shared many wonderful hours with her children and grandchildren, playing various games from Canasta to Pictionary. She had the gift to 'make things memorable' when with her friends and family.
Aleta was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde and one brother, Loyal 'Buzz' Luiten.
She is survived by her daughters, Pam Ames and her husband, Jay, Spokane, WA, Mikki Nutt, Portland, OR, Lani Nutt, Seattle, WA, grandchildren, Erica and Michael Ames, a sister, Margie Lenhart and her husband, Clarence, Spokane, WA and a brother, Gary Luiten, San Leandro, CA.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Colville with Pastor Shane Moffitt as the officiant. A graveside service will follow at the Mountain View Park cemetery in Colville. Memorial contribution may be given to the charity of your choice.

Cora M Hiebert
AUGUST 2, 1913 - MAY 27, 2010
Cora M. Hiebert, 96, a resident of Colville, WA passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Buena Vista Nursing Home. She was born August 2, 1913 in Knapp, WI to Jerry W. and Jeni Lyn (Nutter) Yoder.
Cora was raised on the family homestead, a dry land farm just west of Havre, MT. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse until high school. While attending high school in Havre, she had to work for room and board. Cora later graduated from Northern Montana College with a Bachelor of Arts and then attended one additional year at Eastern Washington University. She married
William Hiebert on March 12, 1938 in Chinook, MT and they were together for 40 years until his passing. Cora was a dedicated teacher and taught in the Havre area in one-room schoolhouses for about 5 years before her marriage, then had her own kindergarten in Chinook, after raising her four children. After moving to western Montana, she taught in Missoula and Clinton, and then finished her career at the Chewelah School District in Chewelah, WA. When she retired, she became active in the community, especially with Habitat for Humanity, the Food Bank, and with her church. Cora enjoyed dancing and cooking (her specialty was bread). She loved to travel, and traveled all over the United States and Europe and went on an occasional cruise. Cora adored her family and would make trips to visit with her children and grandchildren as often as she could. Cora was a beloved teacher, wife, mother and friend. She lived every moment to the fullest and her positive spirit will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Cora is preceded in death by her husband, William 'Bill' Hiebert and daughter Louise Blank. She is survived by daughters, Jennilyn Benson and her husband Leon of Colville, WA, and Roxane Green of Everett, WA; son, Bill Hiebert and wife Eve of Missoula, MT; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

John Donald Citkovich
July 26, 1926 - May 26, 2010
John 'Jack' Donald Citkovich, a lifetime resident of Colville, WA passed away on May 26, 2010 at his Colville home. Jack was born on July 26, 1926 in Colville, the son of John Andrew and Helen Elizabeth (Bardwell) Citkovich.
He was raised in Colville and graduated as a twelve year senior from Colville High School in 1944. Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. He then enrolled at Washington State University and later transferred to the Kinman Business College in Spokane. Jack graduated from college in 1950 and then went into business with his father at Colville Monument Works. Following a their two year courtship, Jack married
Lorraine Noah on Sept. 9, 1951 in Colville. Jack operated the business for 38 years serving the counties of Stevens, Spokane, Pend Oreille and north into Canada. He had the privileged of creating the headstone for Chief Joseph and the point of crossing at the U.S. - Canada border in Northport.
Jack had always enjoyed time spent with his family and time traveling with their fifth wheel across the southern United States and to Alaska. He and Lorraine also enjoyed spending winter months in Arizona and California. He was devout to both his family and his Catholic faith. He was a member of the Colville City Council, was the Colville City Clerk for eight years, Charter Elks-Jaycees, Rotary, Ft. Colville Gun Club, Civil Service Member and a 35 years volunteer for the Colville Fire Department and Fire Chief for two years.
Jack was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri in 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine of 59 years, Colville, WA, daugther, Darci Gayda and her husband, Alan, Colville, WA, a son, Greg Citkovich of Colville, WA, five grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colville with Father Steve Werner as celebrant. A graveside service will follow the Mass at the Mountain View Park cemetery in Colville. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Spokane, P.O. Box 808, Colville, WA 99114. Estella Lorraine Skees
July 2, 1918 - May 23, 2010
Estella Skees, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 23, 2010 in Colville, Washington. She was born July 2, 1918 in Little York, Illinois to Leslie and Opal (Jenkinson) Munson. The family moved to Monmouth, Illinois where Estella and her siblings attended a little one-room schoolhouse. Estella was courted by a young farmhand, Myron Peters. After they married
, they lived at the several farms where Myron worked. Eventually they moved to Muscatine, Iowa where they raised their five children. Estella enjoyed the farm life, tending to the needs of her family. Once the children were raised, Estella and Myron moved out to California where they resided for 15 years. They had just returned to Monmouth when Myron passed away. Estella eventually remarried
to a gentleman she met in Monmouth, Merlin Skees. They enjoyed 8 years of marriage before Merlin passed away of cancer.
Estella moved to Port Angeles, Washington, where she joined her son, Ray and his wife Cheryl. Her son and daughter-in-law owned and operated a motel in Port Angeles, and Estella loved walking to the motel for a daily visit. Estella never had a driver's license, but she loved walking or riding her 3-wheel bicycle. She resorted to walking instead of her bicycle, once she moved to Port Angeles, as there was too much traffic.
When the decision was made to move eastern Washington, it was only natural for Estella to move with Ray and Cheryl. She spent over 2 years living in Deer Park, before it became necessary for Estella to move into Pinewood Terrace Nursing Home. She loved the on going activities and social functions.
Estella shared her talent of sewing, needlework, and crocheting with her daughters. She leaves her family with many of her masterpieces.
Estella was preceded in death by Myron Peters and Merlin Skees; son, Gary Peters; granddaughter, Valerie Tricky; two brothers and a sister. She is survived by her sons, Ray Peters and his wife Cheryl of Valley, WA, Eugene 'Gene' Peters of Monmouth, IL; daughters, Patricia Colleen Peters of Lakeland, FL, and Michelle Myrtle Marie Peters of Lakeland, FL; sister, Roberta Tapscott of Silvas, IL; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A graveside service for Estella will be held in Monmouth, IL at a later date.

Elaine M. McGrew

Elaine M. McGrew, age 87, passed away on May 23, 2010 in Prosser, WA while visiting her daughter. She was born on November 27, 1922 in Mabton, WA to Thomas Anthony and Linna (Berg) Patterson.
Elaine married
Francis 'Buck' McGrew on July 7, 1937 in Prosser, WA. They moved to their farm on Highland Loop in Kettle Falls, WA in 1946, where she has resided until her death.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Buck McGrew in 1984, her daughters Donna Kenworthy and Jean McGrew, her daughter-in-law Dixie McGrew, her parents, her sister Edna McKay and her brother Thomas Patterson, Jr. She is survived by her children, Belva Pleake and husband Larry of Prosser, Jerry McGrew of Prosser, Marsha Fox and husband Don of Rice, WA, Debbie Georgariou and husband Phil of Ft. Worth, TX, her son-in-law Lyle Kenworthy of Tum Tum, WA, 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Hilda May Ralston
January 5, 1912 - May 22, 2010
Hilda Ralston, 98, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2010 in Colville, Washington. She was the youngest of 6 children, born in Sharon Springs, Kansas on January 5, 1912 to Fredrick and Sarah (Dahlman) Schussler. As a young girl, her family moved several times when her father worked as a machinist for the railroads and mining companies in the continental United States and the territory of Alaska.
In 1929, while living in Denver, Colorado Hilda married
Lawrence Body. After the birth of their first son, Ralph, they moved to Alaska where their second son Dean was born. After moving back to Denver, their youngest son Dick was born. In the summer of 1935, Lawrence passed away. As a young mother, with 3 very young sons to raise, Hilda relied on the help of her family. She worked as a machine operator prior to and during WWII. In 1946, Hilda met and married
William 'Bill' Ralston. They were blessed with a daughter, Annie.
Bill and Hilda would drive countless hours to find the perfect fishing spot, enjoying many weekends camping and fishing. While living in Denver, they made several trips to the Colville area to visit family and enjoyed the areas many fishing spots. When Bill retired in 1973, they moved from Lakewood, Colorado to Evans, Washington, a place they had learned to love for its nearness to family, mountains, and fishing. They purchased a home in Evans, which had a large yard with ample space for growing beautiful flowers and a plentiful garden. Each fall Hilda would spend hours canning and freezing the vegetables from her garden. Bill and Hilda spent many happy hours with friends, attending church in Northport, and at the Senior Citizen Center in Kettle Falls, enjoying potlucks, card games, and bowling. When the yard and garden became too much for them to care for, they moved to Colville where they continued with the Senior Citizen activities. Despite many hardships, Hilda remained resilient, strong, and positive.
Hilda was preceded in death by Lawrence Body and William Ralston; sons, Dean Body and Ralph Body; grandson, Dan Body; daughter-in-law, Barbara Body; five siblings and her parents. She is survived by her son, Richard 'Dick' Body and his wife Joyce, of Des Moines, WA; her daughter, Annie Blatt and her husband Larry, of Gunnison, CO; two daughters-in-law, Mary Body, of Seattle, WA and Alvina Body, of Kettle Falls, WA; 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service for Hilda will be held later this summer at Kelly Hill. Danekas Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
