Edward A. Brincken - Nov. 19, 2008

Edward August Brincken of Aberdeen died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at his home. He was 56.

He worked for the National Conservation Resource Services for the last 30 years.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 24, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Aberdeen.

Arrangements are by Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

Ellen Hokanson - Nov. 25, 2008

Ellen E. Hokanson, a resident of Aberdeen since 1963, died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. She was 84.

She had been a bookkeeper for some of the lumber mills of the Harbor for many years.

A memorial service is planned for mid-December at St. Andrews Episcopal Church and will be announced in a complete obituary later in the Daily World.

Arrangements are by Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

Marilyn J. Beatty - Sept. 12, 2008

Marilyn J. Beatty, 67, a longtime resident of Aberdeen and former cafeteria worker at Miller Jr. High in the 80s, passed away Friday, September 12, 2008 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen.

Marilyn was born, October 31, 1940 in Longview to Bluford and Ida Mae (Longoria) Elledge. She moved with her family to Tacoma and Everett before moving to Aberdeen in 1956 where she graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1958. She then attended Grays Harbor Business College.

On May 29, 1959, Marilyn married Donald Dale Beatty in Montesano. He died in January of 2004.

Marilyn enjoyed being a housewife and raising her children and then being with her grandchildren. She loved her dogs and raised Chihuahuas. She liked to sew, go out to garage sales and watch baseball. She was a member of AARP.

Marilyn is survived by two sons, Donald Beatty of Aberdeen and Steven (Barbara) Beatty of Bozeman, Mont.; a daughter, Margaret (Ron) Delbrouck of Central Park; a brother, Tom Elledge of Hoquiam; three sisters, Virginia Becker of Vancouver B.C., Barbara Crosby of Seattle and Wilma Daniels of Vancouver, Wash.; Four grandchildren, Josh, Travis, and Rachel Delbrouck, and Lakoda Beatty.

Marilyn was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Elledge.

There will be a time of visitation from 9 am until Noon on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen. A graveside service will take place at 2 pm Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at the Oddfellows cemetery, in Elma.

The family suggests that donations be made to the Central Park Fire Dept., 6317 Olympic Hwy, Aberdeen, WA 98520.

Arrangements are by Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

Judy Blackburn Clauson - Oct. 15, 2008

Judy Lynn BlackburnClauson, 45, passed away October 15, 2008 at her home in Aberdeen, after a two year battle with mesothelioma.

Judy is survived by her mother Lydia Blackburn of Aberdeen; two sons, Erik and Daren Eberwein of Aberdeen; three step-sons, Michael Clauson of Colorado Springs, Bryce and Brandon Clauson of Aberdeen; a granddaughter, Mikhalia Eberwein; her sisters, Patty John of British Columbia, Lynda Jolly and Deborah Blackburn of Aberdeen; her brothers, Phillip (Dino) Blackburn of Aberdeen, Gary and Jimmy Blackburn, both of Quinault, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and her spouse, Richie Clauson.

Judy loved life and people loved Judy. She readily shared this passion with all who met her. She was kindhearted and would do what she could to help others. Family was very important to her, as were her dogs who were her constant companions.

She also had a special bond with her nephew Ryan Morse, who was her caregiver.

Judy was a proud member of the Quinault Nation, and during her life her native heritage was very important to her and through it she found strength. Judy also completed the first level of training as a Reiki practitioner.

Besides being a hair stylist and owning Captains Corner for a number of years, Judy ran a mobile karaoke unit and worked throughout the county. For her, this was more than a job, because she had a beautiful voice and relished meeting people everywhere.

Judy also enjoyed playing golf and collecting anything Mickey Mouse.

She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A time of visitation will take place today from 1:00-8:00 pm, Friday October 17, 2008 in Fern Hill Funeral Home.

We will be celebrating Judy's life at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Harbor City Church, 1700 Cherry Street, Aberdeen.

Burial with vault interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam. A reception will follow at the church.

Arrangements are through Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

Henry L. Sherman - Nov. 4, 2008

Hoquiam resident Henry Louis Sherman, former truck driver for Pettit Oil Co., died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at this home. He was 70.

There will be a time of visitation from 1 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7, at Fern Hill Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8, at Light and Life Community Church in Hoquiam.

Harold L. Shook - Nov. 10, 2008

Harold Lee Shook, 75, a longtime resident of Central Park and former Assistant Chief for Central Park Fire Dept., died Monday, November 10, 2008 at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam.

Harold was born, June 8, 1933 in Sandpoint, Idaho to Kenneth M. and Marie H. (Cochennette) Shook. His family moved to Port Angeles and then to Hoquiam before moving to Central Park when Harold was eight. He graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1951. Later that year on November 16th, Harold married Mary Teman in Aberdeen. She resides at the family home.

Harold was a 57-year member of the Carpenters Union Local #317 in Aberdeen and had worked for Franciscovich Inc, General contractors for fifteen years and also for Rognlins. Harold had been the Recording Secretary for the union for 28 years.

Harold was an avid scuba diver and had taught diving at the YMCA. He loved to go sailing and do underwater photography. He enjoyed woodworking and had made wooden boats. He made toys after his injury for kids in Haiti and go-carts for the neighbor kids.

Harold was an EMT and First Responder for the Central Park Fire Dept. for 26 years and Assistant Chief for 15 years. He taught EMT training at Grays Harbor Community College when the program first started.

Harold is survived by his wife Mary of 56 years of Central Park; son, Tom and his wife Paula of Satsop; daughter, Connie and her husband Rory Barreith of Cosmopolis; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service for Harold at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Central Park Baptist Church. A private burial was held at Fern Hill cemetery, Aberdeen.

The family suggests that donations can be made to either: The Central Park Fire Dept., 6317 Olympic Hwy, Aberdeen, WA 98520 or Central Park Baptist Church, 6308 Central Park Drive, Aberdeen, WA 98520.

Arrangements are through; Fern Hill Funeral Home Aberdeen.

Hazel H. Wormstedt - Nov. 1, 2008

Hazel H. Wormstedt, 84, a Westport resident since 1961, died at her home there Saturday, November 1, 2008. She was born in StaffordSprings, Conn., the daughter of Jospeh and Lydia (Robert) Fisher. She attended schools there and had worked for Pratt & Whitney, building aircraft engines during World War II.

She married William A. Wormstedt in Stafford Springs in 1950. They came to Westport in 1961 when he was stationed with the Coast Guard. Upon his discharge they continued to live there. Mr. Wormstedt died here in 1978.

Hazel had been a homemaker and mother to her children, but she also worked for the Ocosta School District until her retirement in 1989.

In 1988 she met Austin Vaal in Westport and they have continued their relationship through the years. They have traveled many places including Alaska cruises and a trip to Branson, Mo. They also went on a cruise on the QE2 to the Mediteranean, visiting Africa, Monte Carlo, Italy, Ireland and England before flying home on the Concorde.

She was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 3057 of Westport. She liked to travel and work crossword puzzles. According to her family she made a mean apple pie.

Hazel is survived by her companion, Austin Vaal, Westport; a son: William A. Jr., Shoreline; two daughters: Kathy A. Jarrett, Westport and Peggy A. Mooney, Petersburg, Alaska; and four grandchildren: Tom and Tavia A. Wormstedt, Sara Mooney and Billy Jarrett. She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Friday, November 7, 2008, in the chapel at Fern Hill Funeral Home, Aberdeen. Burial will take place in Fern Hill cemetery, Aberdeen.

The family suggests memorial may be made to the cancer fund at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3057, 211 E. Pacific Ave., Westport, WA 98595

Janice M. Tronson - Nov 8, 2008

Olympia Janice Marie Tronson of Olympia died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Puget Sound Healthcare Center in Olympia. She was 78.

She was born in White Star and lived much of her life in Grays Harbor and Thurston counties.

A full obituary will follow.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 29 at Forest Funeral Home in Olympia.

Kenneth Boo Graham

Ocosta resident Kenneth Boo Graham died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. He was 49.

There will be a celebration of his life held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 30, at the Ocosta Rec Hall.

A full obituary will be published in The Daily World.

Cremation arrangements are by Fern Hill Funeral Home of Aberdeen.

Allen L. Bud Fletcher - Dec. 7, 2008

Longtime Harborite Allen Leroy Bud Fletcher died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. He was 87.

He had been a commercial fisherman out of Westport since before World War II, aboard the Betty Jo. He retired in 1990.

A potluck memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Ocosta Rec Center.

Cremation arrangements were by Fern Hill Funeral Home, Aberdeen.

Elsie Laverne Powell - Dec. 2, 2008

Elsie Laverne Powell, 95, a longtime resident of Aberdeen, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Montesano Health & Rehab Center in Montesano.

Elsie was born June 26, 1913 in Wynot, Nebraska to Wilson and Florence (Nordike) Eisley. She was one of thirteen children. She was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska and came to Aberdeen in 1967.

Elsie was married to Howard Powell. Elsie was an in home caregiver for many years in the Aberdeen area and had worked in the New China Restaurant in the kitchen before that.

Quilting was her passion and one quilt she made in honor of the Iran hostages, now hangs in the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. She liked to make Quillows Pillow and blanket combined) she also made quilts for babies. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren to make quilts and sew. She also did embroidery.

Elsie is survived by her son Larry Dupsky of Aberdeen; and a daughter Laverne and her husband Bruce Travers of Montesano; several grandchildren, many great grandchildren and some great- great-grandchildren.

Elsie was preceded in death by a son David Powell and a daughter Dorothy Breshears.

Per Elsies request, there will be no service. She will be inurned with her daughter at Fern Hill cemetery, in Aberdeen.

The family suggests that donations be made to the Aberdeen Animal Shelter, 210 E. Market St., Aberdeen, WA 98520.

Arrangements are through Fern Hill Funeral Home, in Aberdeen.

Timothy Allen Michael Bailey - Nov. 28, 2008

McCLEARY Timothy Allen Michael Bailey, infant son of Carrie Bailey and Greg Bouch of Elma, died at birth at Mark Reed Hospital in McCleary, Nov. 28.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 9, in the chapel at Fern Hill Funeral Home, Aberdeen.

Elsie M. Campbell - Jan. 6, 2009

Longtime resident of Aberdeen, Elsie Mae Campbell, 95, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in Aberdeen. Mrs. Campbell was born in McCleary, October 22, 1913 the daughter of William and Caroline (VonBargen) VanKirk.

On December 31, 1934, she and John Peter Jack Campbell were married . Both worked for years at Grays Harbor Chair Mfg. Co. in Hoquiam and enjoyed outdoor activities together. Among their favorite activities were fishing, camping and clamming. Jack died in 1967.

In 1975, Elsie took early retirement at age 62. Elsie had a very active retirement. She continued to clam, pick wild blackberries and mushrooms, garden and played cards. Her passion for gardening led her to be active in garden clubs, participating in workshops, and attending gardening shows. She traveled to Alaska with her niece, Carla. With her sister, Hazel, took a Caribbean cruise and traveled to Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii. Through the years, she would visit with her daughter, Sheila and her family at Camano Island.

She was a member of the Civic Garden Club, Pinochle Club, Sociable Senior Club (formerly Hoquiam REAC), Aberdeen Eagles Aerie (formerly a member of Hoquiam Eagles), and played bingo one of her weekly enjoyments.

Elsie felt strongly about living in the Aberdeen and Hoquiam community. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Mae Ferguson (Ralph) of Camano Island; four grandchildren: David Ferguson (Tina) of Bothell, Pamela Ferguson (Bob Johnson) of Sammamish, Russell Ferguson of Everett, and Bradley Ferguson (Kadi) of Camano Island; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her four siblings, Edward Van Kirk, Stella Clark, Pearl Dubay and Hazel Peterson.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army, 118 Wishkah St. Aberdeen, 98520.

Arrangements were entrusted to; Fern Hill Funeral Home Aberdeen.
