Fisher, Mark Thursday, 25 Oct 2007
Mark Fisher, of Belfair, died on Oct. 25, 2007. He was 44.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1962, in Seattle, to Lloyd and Myrna (Krook) Fisher.
He graduated from Sealth High School and served four years in the U.S. Air Force.
He was an aircraft electrician for 21 years at Boeing.
He enjoyed camping, hiking and fishing. He was active with the Boy Scouts and Little League.
He is survived by parents Lloyd and Myrna (Krook) Fisher; grandmother Rose (Krook) Gibbs; brothers Rollie and Matthew Fisher; son Adam Fisher; and daughters Erin and Kaitlin Fisher.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 4 at the Theler Center in Belfair.
Swan, Luverne Wednesday, 24 Oct 2007
Luverne Arnold Swan died on Oct. 24, 2007, at Island Health Care Center on Bainbridge Island.
She was 90.
She was born to William Harris and Mildred (Hopkins) Arnold in Everett on July 14, 1917.
She graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle and then attended the University of Washington. She was a talented musician, specializing in playing the organ and piano.
She married
William Mark Swan on March 28, 1946.
She played piano and organ at the Colby United Methodist Church for many years. She also directed the choir, was a member of the Bazaar Buddies and served on numerous committees.
She continued to be active in the church until the age of 85.
She enjoyed gardening, baking, needle arts, traveling and volunteering in the community.
She is survived by sister Bobbie Simonson and family; daughters Marcia Swan and Susan (and husband Paul) Schulz of Seattle, and Lynne (and husband Bob) Jones, of Ephrata; son Jeff (and wife Claire) Swan of Port Orchard; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Brian and husband Mark.
A celebration of her life will be held on Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. at the Colby United Methodist Church. A reception will follow.
Richards, Elfriede Tuesday, 23 Oct 2007
Elfriede "Elfie" Richards, of Port Orchard, died on Oct. 23, 2007.
She was born in Kassel, Germany, and came to the United States in 1953.
She married
Bruce A. Richards while he was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army.
She worked at the Bremerton Sun and was manager of the German Delicatessen at Helen's Health Food Store.
She is survived by husband Bruce Richards of Port Orchard; daughters Marion Cline (Robert Carney) of Renton, and Evelyn (and husband Bill) Pope of Westport; and five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by daughter Lori Damschen, son-in-law Paul Cline, and grandson David Cline.
A graveside service was held on Oct. 30 at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
MacPherson, Francis Tuesday, 23 Oct 2007
Francis Raymond (Mac) MacPherson, of Port Orchard, died on Oct. 23, 2007.
He was 90.
He was born on Aug. 14, 1917, in Boston, Mass., to Francis and Mary (O'Neil) MacPherson.
He graduated from Pinkerton Academy, in Derry, N.H., in 1938 and Hesser Business School, on Manchester, N.H. in 1940.
He served in the U.S. Army, serving for six years. Following his discharge at Fort Worden, near Port Townsend, he met and married
Lorraine Allgaier, and moved to Port Orchard.
He began working at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1945 as an engineering tech and retired in 1973.
He was a member of American Legion, VFW, and Oddfellows. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed working with his sons' Boy Scout troops.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lorraine MacPherson, of Port Orchard; sons Ray MacPherson of Tacoma and Gary MacPherson of LaHabra, Calif.; daughters Susan LaRoza of Silverdale, and Mary of Alexandria, Va.; and six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, J.D. LaRoza.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 29 at Rill Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Remembrances can be made to a charity of the giver's choice.
Royer, Nellie Saturday, 20 Oct 2007
Nellie Mae Royer died at Life Care Center of Port Orchard on Oct. 20, 2007.
She was 90.
She was born June 23, 1917, in Omaha, Texas, to William and Minnie (Smith) Wheat.
She grew up in Hialeh, Fla., and married
Leonard L. Royer on Oct. 25, 1941, in St. Cloud, Fla.
She worked as a registered nurse after graduating from Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Miami, Fla., in 1938.
She was a member of the Eastern Star. She liked to travel. She also enjoyed gardening and jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by daughters Mary (and husband Babe) Kaltenborn of Manchester and Patricia Smith of Durham, N.C.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Leonard Royer in 1991; son Leonard Royer, Jr., and sister Mattie Lee Hillstead.
Remington, James Friday, 19 Oct 2007
James Allen Remington, of Bremerton, died in Olalla on Oct. 19, 2007.
He was 54.
He was born Jan. 24, 1953, in Fontana, Calif., to Paul and Barbara (Pruitte) Remington.
He attended Victor Valley High in Victorville, Calif.
He worked for 40 years as a welder.
He served in the U.S. Army as an engineer in Germany from 1970 to 1972.
He was a Christian and enjoyed boating and camping.
He is survived by his mother Barbara Smith; sons Jammy Dale and Jeremy Allen Remington and Richard Welch; daughter Angela Marie (and husband Jacobson) Haney; stepson James Dawson and stepdaughter Tonya Dawson; brothers Ed (and wife Sheila) Morgan and David (and wife Cheryl) Pruitte; sisters Paula M. Remington, Linda (and husband Chon) Nguyen and Robbin (and husband Doug) Bowen; and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held on Oct. 26 at Peninsula Bible Fellowship in Bremerton.
Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Dock, Glen Friday, 19 Oct 2007
Glen E. Dock, of Port Orchard, died at his home on Oct. 9, 2007.
He was 84.
He was born on May 14, 1923, in Three Rivers, Mich., to William R. and Nora B. (Lowman) Dock.
He married
Alice Kimmel on Sept. 25, 1947.
He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and was a veteran of World War II. He served on the USS Hornet and was part of the Doolittle Raid.
He also retired from Shop 42 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and was a Master Mason and VFW Member.
He is survived by wife Alice Dock and step-daughter Jean Hauser.
Burial will be in Moore Park, Mich.
Belcher, Beatrice Wednesday, 17 Oct 2007
Beatrice Ann Belcher died on Oct. 17, 2007. She was 77.
She was born on July 25, 1930, to Frank and Mary (Helewski) Mox in Anoka, Minn.
She graduated from Bremerton High School.
In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Sam’s Plumbing & Heating, helped maintain rentals and worked at Keyport and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
She is survived by daughters Sheri, Sharlene and Teri; son Larry; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A potluck memorial is scheduled for Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 1329 Garrison Road in Port Orchard.
