Deurloo, Pieter Thursday, 04 Jul 2002
Pieter Deurloo, 82, of Port Orchard, died July 4, 2002, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 9, 1920 in Delft, Holland, to Pieter and Pietja (Brouwer) Deurloo. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth (Vander Klugt) Deurloo in 1982.
He emigrated from Holland to Canada in 1948 and owned and op-erated his own contracting business. He emigrated to Waterford, Conn., in 1962, where he was an independent contractor and cabinet maker. He was a Washington resident since 1994.
He enjoyed his vegetable garden and raising chickens, a Seattle Mariners and New England Patriots football fan, fishing and traveling internationally.
He is survived by his son Pieter G. Deurloo of Bainbridge, Pa.; daughters Louise E. Welliver of Port Orchard and Margaret J. Edmonds of Pway, Calif.; brothers Jan Deurloo of Delft, Holland and Jacob Deurloo of Toronto, Canada; sisters Cornelia P. J. Van Haaster of Calgary, Canada and Pietje Beest of Holland; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Antonie Deurloo and Gerrit Deurloo.

O'Malley, Michael Wednesday, 03 Jul 2002
Michael Andrew O’Malley, 60, of Port Orchard, died July 3, 2002, in Bremerton. He was born Feb. 27, 1942 in Ballard to Eugene H. and Lila (Knight) O’Malley. He is survived by his wife Lana M. (White) O’Malley.
He graduated from Oak Harbor High School in Oak Harbor, Wash. in 1966. He was a Naval Senior Chief Petty Officer from 1959 to 1982 and was awarded five Good Conduct Awards and a Navy Achievement Award. He was a Port Orchard Police Officer for 19 years and retired in 2002.
He enjoyed motorcycle riding, model trains and model ship building.
He is also survived by his daughters Dawn M. Cortes of Topsham, Maine and Tara A. Carley of Port Orchard and four grandchildren.
Services were held July 9 at Rill Chapel. Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.
Eakin, Carol Saturday, 25 May 2002
Carol Anne Eakin, 56, a former resident of Port Orchard, died May 25, 2002.
She was born March 31, 1946 in Winnipeg, Canada to Robert and Maude (Shaw) Gorman.
She was a travel agent in Charleston, S.C. and was the former owner and operator of Advantage Travel in Port Orchard for 7 years.
She retired in 1997.
She is survived by her close friend Robert Johnson of Port Orchard and 8 grandchildren. There will be a private funeral.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Gaulding, Emily Wednesday, 26 Jun 2002
Emily Eudora Gaulding, 88, a former resident of Bothell, died June 26, 2002.
She was born Dec. 28, 1913 in Pittsburg, Texas to Milton and Winona (Shook) Harbison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vergil H. Gaulding, in 1985.
She was a founding member of the Homemakers Club of South Colby. She was a Methodist.
She is survived by her son Clark (Cookie) Gaulding of Bainbridge Island; daughter Margaret Olson of Shoreline; sister Edna Mae Hogan of Austin, Texas; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service and interment was held July 2 at Sedgwick cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements were made by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Ames, Etta Thursday, 27 Jun 2002
Etta Jane (Hubbard) Ames, 87, died June 27, 2002, in Port Orchard.
She was born on April 26, 1915 in Wauchula, Fla., to John Henry and Etta Blanche (Criss) Hubbard.
As an infant, her family moved to Chilliwack, B.C., so her father could enlist in the Canadian Army during World War II. They later moved to Port Orchard, where she completed her education.
She worked as a telephone operator in Port Orchard.
She married
Gilbert S. Ames on Jan. 27, 1934, in Montesano. They made their first home in Elma, then returned to Port Orchard, where they raised their three daughters.
The couple later spent 16 years in Wenatchee before returning to Port Orchard.
She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, craft work, flower arranging and poetry writing.
She is survived by three daughters and sons in law: Beverly and Charles Robins of East Wenatchee, Janet and Ronald Wooten of Port Orchard, and Judith and Emsley Stevens of Colorado Springs, Colo; seven gradchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and both parents; two sisters, Jessie Harris and Nickles; and two brothers, Kenneth Jones and William Jones of Idaho.
There will be no funeral service, but a family memorial will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Miller-Woodlawn cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the heart or diabetes associations.
Rose, Harold Tuesday, 25 Jun 2002
Harold L. Rose, 70, a former resident of Port Orchard, died June 25, 2002 at the Veterans Adminis-tration Hospital in Seattle.
He was born March 1, 1932, in Midland, S.D., to John and Clarice (Morgan) Rose.
He is survived by his wife Virginia (Nelson) Rose.
He graduated from Eureka High School in Eureka, Mont. in 1950 and was self-employed for 30 years.
He was a jeweler and wine maker, and enjoyed planting and growing fruit. He was a Jehovah’s Witness.
He is survived by his daughters Cynthis Rose of Sumner, (Sharon) Morgana Rose Seay of Orting, and Melissa Rose of Port Orchard; four brothers; two sisters; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Port Orchard Satur-day, July 6, 2002 at 3 pm.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.
Hamby, Fleet Monday, 17 Jun 2002
Fleet Hamby, 82, of Port Orchard, died June 17, 2002, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 20, 1920 in Burnsville, N.C. to Zachariah Spencer Hamby and Anne Elizabeth (Gibbs).
He graduated from Burnsville High School in 1939 and Served in the Navy from 1940 to 1961. He was awarded a Good Conduct Award, Navy Occupation, American Defense, American Campaign, National Defense, China Service, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, World War II Victory, Philippine Liberation Medal.
He worked for 14 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a planner/estimator, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of VFW, Masonic Lodge and Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.
He is survived by his son Curtis Hamby of Clallam Bay, daughter Nadine Hamby of Seattle, sister Edith Boone of Burnsville, N.C. and granddaughter Lyndzie Hamby.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jim Hamby and sister Connie Morgan.
A memorial was held June 28 at Rill Chapel. Arrangements were made by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.
Caley, Susan Wednesday, 27 Dec 2006
Susan E. Caley, of Port Orchard, died on Dec. 27, 2005, at home.
She was 65.
She was born on Dec. 29, 1929, in Portland, Ore., to Ethan and Elizabeth (Rafter) Allen.
She married
Rock Caley in Port Orchard on Sept. 5, 1959.
She graduated from Holy Names Academy in Seattle in 1957 and attended Seattle University.
She was a homemaker. She also owned and operated the Mount Spokane ski area with her husband.
She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Port Orchard and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
She was an avid skier and enjoyed entertaining.
She is survived by husband Rock Caley of Port Orchard; daughters Shannon (and husband Howard) Sand of Mercer Island, Storm (and husband Scott) Janaszak of Port Orchard, Stacey (and husband Greg) Lueke of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jennifer Caley of Mercer Island and Patricia Caley of California; sons Kevin and Logan Caley of Port Orchard, sisters Pamela Allen of Port Orchard and Judith (and Jim Otto) of Palm Desert, Calif.; brother Ethan (and wife Stevi) Allen of Spokane; and 13 grandchildren.
A memorial service mass was held on Dec. 30 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church.

McGuire, Lawrence Tuesday, 26 Dec 2006
Lawrence W. Maguire, of Port Orchard, died on Dec. 26, 2006, in Bremerton. He was 72.
He was born on March 28, 1934, in Chelanm to Hugh and Irene (Todd) Maguire. He married
Anite Burke on Dec. 13, 1958, in Bellevue.
He graduated from Chelan High School in 1952 and from Central Washington University in 1964 with a masters degree in education.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1954 as a sergeant, then spent 32 years as a teacher of psychology and physical education, and as a vice principal, principal and football and wrestling coach in Ellensburg, South Kitsap and Tenino.
He was an all-conference football player at CWU, earning enshrinement in the school’s athletic Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into the Washington State Wrestling Hall of Fame, the National Wrestling Coaches Hal of Fame, and the Bremerton Athletic Roundtable Hall of Fame.
He is survived by wife Anita Maguire, of Port Orchard; sons Joe (and wife Theresa) Maguire of Lacey and Patrick (and wife Debbie) Maguire of Tenino; brother Bob (and wife Cora) Maguire of Fairbanks, Alaska; sister Doris Jean (and husband Jim) Stamps of Chelan, and Mary (and wife Dan) Baliff of Cashmere; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother James Maguire.
A memorial service was held Jan. 2 at Rill Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
